  1. Name: Sabia Address: 01617- 73602 - 46607 - 34140 Boon: Lucky Bane: Clumsy Class: Dark Falcon (Sky Knight as Talent) Skill: Foreign Princess Growth Rates: ???
  2. Camilla's retainers are up next, Selena/Severa and Beruka: #27 - Selena/Severa In comparison to her mercenary design from Awakening she's got alot more black/white going on and the shirt looks alot more thicker. The little touches like the different ribbons on her twin-tails are a nice touch and the little skirt over the pants is cute. I also like those little gold diamonds on her chest, I imagine her getting them during one of her shopping sprees. Her voice is pretty similar to her previous one but a little more matured, I wasn't expecting the maniac laughter as one of her victory quotes though but it's quite amusing. Also her support victory lines are less bitchy, which reflects well on her change of character. #28 - Beruka One of my favourite designs from Nohr's side. I'm digging her hairstyle and the headband compliments it and the mixture of black cloth and armour gives her the look of a tough fighter and someone of a rough background (appropriate considering her background). It's funny that Beruka doesn't get the Outlaw or Ninja class as her secondary class considering her role. Wyvern animations are what I expected, but the victory animation is cute, gotta give your mount praise for it's job well done. Edit: Also forgot to mention her voice acting and another curious note. Her voice has a funny mixture of serious, emotionless delivery while also being rather cute in some cases. Also her hairstyle almost reminds me of Kjelle from Awakening, but alot better.
  3. With that said, out of curiousity what's your opinion on the Cipher cards having various artists doing each character with varying styles? Also I just realized I forgot to mention the Monk's animations for Azama. While his monk animations are standard, his promoted class is pretty fun to watch. Very much in a similar style to the Spear Masters and I really like his finisher and critical moves, stylish and satisfying. And as for the Archers, they do what you expect but I find the snipers crit animation rather funny, just that little twirl around to the shot gets me a giggle.
  4. Onward to Hinoka's retainers, Azama and Setsuna: #25 - Azama I was surprised that they kept the fuzzy hair from Awakening's custom M!Robin hair selection, which I thought looked silly on him but for Azama, I reckon they've got it working here as It suits his aloof attitude and works with his getup. Black is a slick colour and its a nice colour for a monk, who are usually portrayed in white/brighter colours. I like those little fuzzy balls that he has around his chest, a cute little addition. He pulls off the closed eyes look well and I find it amusing that according to Mitama he has the same star eye pupils that she has. #26 - Setsuna Blue would be the first thing that comes to my head when thinking about Setsuna's design. Blue hair, blue eyes, blue stockings, blue boots, blue gloves, blue coat, at this point I'd make her official theme song I'm Blue by Eiffel 65. I do like blue though so It looks nice to me. I like her dopey, sleepy look in the facial expressions, It suits her character. Also I've noticed that alot of characters in this game seem to have that "fringe covering the face" look going for them (off the top of my head I can think of 5 characters that have it, including Setsuna).
  5. I suppose with all the pandering female designs that Awakening and Fates has introduced, male design variants are far and few between and I just seem to blank over them when they do show up.
  6. Now onto Leo's retainers, Odin/Owain and Niles #23 - Odin/Owain Owain's gotten more flashy in comparison to his Awakening getup, abandoning the myrmidon look for the dark mage look. Still got the yellow theme going for him which suits him well. In comparison to the female dark mage's design it's less pandering but they've tried to balance it with the exposed chest and arm bits, which are a tad odd. Although I have to say, I've noticed Owain's got some tough looking abs going on there. I imagined Henry looking like that with the amount of defense he got for me in my Awakening run. I like the sorcerer's black wings cape, it's a nice touch to their profession. #24 - Niles A solid design. The white hair along with his light brown skin makes for a nice colour contrast. The eyepatch is a nice touch considering his background (Is there a support that explains his eyepatch?) and I'm digging the dark blue attire, with specks of gold from the belt for that little flair. Also I've noticed that his boots are really big, I wonder if they'd be rather loose when on the run.
  7. Funny you should mention Azama as even with his reputation as a troll character, I like him regardless. He's gotten the most chuckles out of me and he's rather interesting as a character, being a monk who doesn't take his role seriously. Plus I like his design (which shall be coming up soon). I have to wonder if I'll see any Jakob supports that dont portray him as an arse because so far THAT'S a character that's been hard to see a good side too (Hell his paralogue with Dwyer ain't winning him father of the year anytime soon). But then again diversity in personalities makes an army more lively, just look at Shinon from the Tellius games. Since the main characters have been the only ones with official art so far I've had to resort to the 4Koma stuff for the rest of the cast. I was thinking about using Oboro's other artwork but for consistency sake I decided to stick with her 4Koma one, which is probably one of the better ones of the bunch (some of them are pretty off). I've noticed those Kozaki drawings and I have to say they're pretty neat. I like the one with Sakura and Hana, that puzzled look on Hana's face is cute.
  8. Next up, Takumi's retainers, Hinata and Oboro: #21 - Hinata A spunky looking samurai we got here. In contrast to Hana's look, Hinata's got some nice contrast with the purple/white combo. Also has a similar chestplate and the same kind of shoes. Speaking of which, I've wondered about them shoes in terms of how practical they are when running around with them. Looking at them reminds me of why I don't wear Thongs (sandals for those outside Australia) as that lead to me stubbing my toe on a rock in the woods and leaving a nice trail of blood back to camp. One thing to note about the image I found of him, what the hell is up with his face? it's looks so feminine and the red lips look out of place, especially since Oboro's doesn't have that. It looks like he's wearing lipstick. These 4Koma portraits are quite hit and miss. #22 - Oboro Another favourite of mine, such a colourful spear fighter. The bright orange with the dark blue is really nice and suits her character. The diamond patterns on her stockings are a stylish choice and I can imagine that was her choice to add them, which works for her character. She rocks the ponytail well and I like her facial expressions, a mixture of dopey and cute and of course that angry face of hers: It was one of the first images of her I saw when leaks of Fates were coming out before release and it certainly caught me eye. I really like her voice too. Such a sweet voice she has, her giggle in particular is adorable.
  9. To be fair it's Corrin. At this point he's our punching bag for a majority of Fates problems and he rightfully deserves it. As have I on said thread, Although I really need to see more supports to get the full picture on the entire cast as at the time, half of mine were more of first impressions or in the case of Revelations, hadn't encountered yet.
  10. Now onto Elise's retainers, Effie and Arthur: #19 - Effie Thank god they fixed the shoulder pads for knights! After the silly over sized ones we got in Awakening I was expecting them to continue this trend, but thankfully that didn't end up being the case. I like her hair design, which its cute design makes for contrast to her mighty figure and mighty strength. The design reminds me of the knights from previous games (particularly the GBA era ones) in terms of armour size and layout. Her pink colour scheme reminds me of Amelia's look as a knight. I've heard people say her voice is a bit off but I personally find it suits her quite well, but there are one or two lines that make her sounds a bit dopey (I forgot to mention voices for these characters which we can discuss as well). Of course...there's only one problem I have with her design....her backdoor. Why is she not wearing pants? It sticks out to me (no pun intended) especially when compared to Benny, who actually wears pants, and just comes across as more unneeded sexual pandering. Like the issue I had with Camilla's design it just feels awkwardly placed amongst all the heavy armour and makes the design look inconsistent, especially with her victory animation pushing it in your face. #20 - Arthur The mighty hero himself. He's certainly the most colourful fighter I've seen in this franchise. All that blue, red and white (America justice joke here), it's nice on the eyes. I really love his facial design, that grin of his is very amusing, the polished hair, it makes him look like such a fun character. His voice sells his character well, you can tell the voice actor was having fun with this character (I love the way he say's his son's name, always makes me laugh).
  11. I feel like I've been a minority in people that like her as a character, That one support overshadows her quite a bit. While I agree that it's not a well done support with Corrin I don't have any problems with Hana in her other ones and at least she apologized for her rash actions by the end of it (It could be said that it was shoehorned in to allow the S rank but i digress). But anyway I shall not derail this thread and get on with the next two (a bit late today due to being away from home)
  12. Next up, Sakura's retainers, Hana and Subaki: #17 - Hana Hana's one of my favourite design's in Fates. Her flowing brown hair, the headband, her outfit, it all clicks. It's also interesting to see a myrmidon class with chest armour as apposed to just all leather clothing. She's a mixture of beautiful and traditional, and I like her pink/white/dark purple colour scheme, it suits her. The samurai animations are pretty good, from the way they pull out their sword to the satisfying crits they pull off (the kick and slice combo being my favourite). I also like her victory pose, sword in sheath, hands on hips, superiority over her foes. #18 - Subaki Our first male pegasus knight. It seems like ponytails are popular in Hoshido as Subaki's also rocking that look. His look in comparison to the female counterpart doesn't seem too major except he wears pants instead of the dress that they get (Which would be bizarre if he wore that). The blue/white colours are nice and I like the shoulder pads, Gold and black is a winning combo. Another minor detail I like is the diamond pattern he has on the boots, which while hard to notice in battles are a neat touch.
  13. Not many opinions on the two above i see. Guess we'll see if these two Nohrian knights can get something going, Silas and Gunter: #15 - Silas That hairstyle of his reminds me of a character from Bravely Default. His design is simple for a knight but works for him. The blue mixed with the slick black armour I find works quite nicely, especially being a pale blue to contrast with his bright blue hair. Although him holding that javelin in his picture there reminds me of how silly those javelins looked. #16 - Gunter It's nice to see some more older characters in the latest games as they seem to be a rarity these days. He's definitely got the look of a veteran of war. He's got a very authoritative look to him and looks quite fearsome with the black armour and black armoured horse getup. The purple cloth around his waist does add some variety to his gear. A solid look for a character who should have gotten more supports.
  14. I really liked her animations as a villager. Just that beginning with the head shaking and hesitation made so much sense for someone of her background and gave me a giggle every time. I was trying to think who that was and at first I thought it was Dorothy from Sword of Seals, but it wasn't her. I can't for the life me think who it was, unless it was a side character. I really liked her animations as a villager. Just that beginning with the head shaking and hesitation made so much sense for someone of her background and gave me a giggle every time.
  15. Next up, the two Hoshidan's that join you in all routes, Kaze and Mozu: #13 - Kaze Well he's got the ninja look down pat. Green is my favourite colour so Kaze's full green attire resonates greatly with me. The ninja look in general here is nice. The scarf, the japanese sandals, the wrist blades, they do their job in making a fine looking ninja. Although I have to wonder how safe it is to have blades on your wrists, I could see some things going wrong with them (Like armoured shoulder pads with spikes on them). #14 - Mozu An adorable little farmer gal. Similar to Donnel's attire in Awakening, Mozu's more plain attire makes for contrast in comparison to the retainers and royals outfits. A lot of brown and white for her simple dress and cape, but I quite like it. I like her little twintails of hair, along with the pinned flowers makes Mozu's design rather cute. The freckles are another nice touch (I can' recall if any other FE character had such a feature).
  16. Now onto the servants, Felicia and Jakob: #11 - Felicia I was a bit off put with maids and butlers being in the game at first, but I have to say I've warmed up to them and I quite like them. Felicia's design is a nice mixture of cute (particularly her face) and neat (makes sense for a maid). Knowing what they could have done with the maid outfit I'm glad they restrained themselves with it. It's pretty much what I expect a maid outfit to look like. Her facial expressions I found to be quite charming, and I like the way her hair is done. What I like most about the maid's though is the animations. The little kick of the feet to fling the blade into their hands is stylish and I love when they get a crit and spin around for the kill. #12 - Jakob I'm digging the posh, professional attire of Jakob. The little diamond patterns, the scarf around his neck, the slick black and purple, it hits the right notes. His ponytail hair is an interesting choice, not an unfitting one by any means (He could join the Takumi ponytail fan club with that) and his facial features are more stern and serious in comparison to the dopiness of Felicia. I love the animations of the Butler. Their swift, shifty movements, the way they leap into their enemies, the effortless flinging of their daggers, they amuse me every time and remind me why I love it when Fire Emblem games gives me such over the top animations.
  17. To finish off the royals we have the younger sisters, Sakura and Elise: #9 - Sakura A cute little design. Simple but nice looking and a suitable look for the shrine maiden class. The little hairpiece is cute and I like the shoes, a contrast to what the others had. I also like her animation where she does the little bow upon victory. It's suitable that her and Elise are not as heavily armoured as the others due to their roles as healers. It's also interesting how each Hoshidan royal has different hair colours while the Nohrian's have the same blonde hair except Camilla (Due to the multiple parents situation). #10 - Elise Also a cute design, but with a different flair. Like Takumi, Elise breaks the pattern of colour schemes with her black, pink and white getup, which makes for a striking design. Her hair is certainly more noticeable than Sakura's but I can only imagine how difficult it must be to maintain hair of such length and design. She has alot of bows on her to amplify her cute innocent design which suits her and I can imagine she chose to have them implemented. My only complaint would be with the dress in how it seems to be stuck in a cone like shape, similar to Lissa's but hers had the wire frame to keep it that way. Elise's seems to defy gravity, which also leads to some upskirt shots of her bloomers in the story and one of the cutscenes.
  18. Next up, the older brothers Takumi and Leo: #7 - Takumi I really like his design. In contrast to the other Hoshidan sibilings, Takumi's rocking a nice blue/white colour scheme. I like the furry coat around his waist, it suits someone of his profession and gives him a hunter vibe (a look that would suit well for his son, Kiragi). The long ponytail hair is nice and gives him a sense of presence (Not as might as Ryoma but still noteworthy). The Fujin Yumi is a neat looking bow, The glowing string looks like the blade of a lightsaber, and it's a big bow to boot. #8 - Leo Blonde Marth trying out the dark arts. In contrast to the brothers of Hoshido, Him and Xander both seem to share they're flair in short hair, which Leo's very much reminds me of Marth's hair. Along with his other siblings the black, purple and gold scheme seems to be constant between all of them and like them, Leo look's quite fancy. He's quite heavily armoured for a magic user and I like the triangle parts in the chest area, they give off a rather intimidating look.
  19. Now onto the Older sisters, Hinoka and Camilla #5 - Hinoka I really like her design. It retains the traditional look of a Pegasus knight but spruces it up with some hoshidan styled pieces like the shoulder pads and the patterns on her clothes. Her short but fiery red hair suits her personality, a mixture of cute and warrior princess. A solid design overall. #6 - Camilla Oh boy, Camilla. As soon as I saw her design I knew I'd have issues with her, and after playing Birthright, Conquest and most of Revelations (Just on the last 2 chapters) I was right. Her first problem comes from her crotch, the battle panties (How else can I describe them?), They just look so out of place amongst all the armour she has going on, and with the dark mages already claiming them as their default style now this is just overkill. The exposed breasts are fine on their own as we've had characters in the past that have had rather revealing cleavages (Sonia comes to mind) and for Camilla's seductive characteristics it would suit her, if only they didn't attach her to an annoying gimmick. Her cinematic in Birthright is a huge offender for her design as instead of a bad-ass introduction like what Leo and Xander got, we got in order, Ass shot, crotch shot, tits shot, cut to her gushing over you for the hundredth time. This cinematic pretty much told me everything I needed to know about her design and that the designers just stopped giving a shit about subtlety. It doesn't help that Camilla has the "creepy obsessive sister" archetype, which makes her design more off putting. It's a shame really because apart from that the rest of her is fine. I like her long flowing purple hair and the same black, gold combo also present on Xander and I don't mind the little black crown thing she's wearing (was it a mage circlet?), plus I like the voice actress's performance who nails her personality, but to me Camilla just comes across as too pandering in design and I just can't get behind it, it's basically fapbait. Give her some proper pants and not treat her like eye candy and I would be fine with her. Also what's with the strap between her cleavage? That always stuck out to me and I still don't know what it's for.
  20. Today we shall tackle the Elder brothers of Hoshido and Nohr: #3 - Ryoma The mighty Lord of Lobsters. For a Lord character I feel they need to have a design that catches your attention, or at least looks high and mighty, In the regard Ryoma certainly looks fancy. the striking red armour mixed with the white clothing makes for a nice mixture of colours and pretty much represents the main colour scheme for Hoshido. I also really like the impressive mullet hair he's got going for him, I have to wonder how long it took for him to grow it to that length. Also I noticed that he has the same headpiece that Yen'fey had, reminds me of how Chon'sin is pretty much what Hoshido is. Overall a solid design with a mighty presence. His Raijintou also looks flashy in action, a more aggressive version of the Levin Sword. #4 - Xander A nice contrast to Ryoma's setup. Rocking the black, gold and purple scheme which I really like (more so than Ryoma's, although both are good). From the ripples on the chest area he looks to be very heavily armoured and with little things like the white piece around his neck (not sure what that is, might be what Virion had) makes him look more posh in comparison to Ryoma. His hair, while not as mighty as the mullet man Ryoma, does have a nice elegance to it and makes for nice contrast in comparison to Ryoma's wild hair. The Siegfried is quite fancy but the animation for shooting at ranged with it looks rather odd as he holds it up vertically and the beam of darkness comes from the body and not the sword itself.
  21. Hmm I didn't think about that. The animations would be worth talking about considering some of the unique ones some characters get (E.G Charlotte's victory pose). Once the main cast and side characters have been done we can do them as an extra along with the paralogue bosses that can be captured and other noteworthy designs.
  22. Ah, I forgot about the dark version, dangit! I actually prefer the dark version over the light one. It's slick black design with the veil looks more appealing, which in combination with the dark song made for a nice spectacle....But how the hell it worked as a disguise in Conquest I'll never know. I agree with that. Hell, I was fine with Olivia's design because of this reason (I've liked all the dancers designs in Fire Emblem). Plus they need something easy to move around in so it makes sense. True, hence why I find F!Corrin's exposed thighs to be a minor complaint in comparison to what I'll have to say when Camilla comes around the corner, in fact the slammed into the players face situation will most definitely be coming up in Camilla's analysis. Personally I find fanservice to be more annoying when it feels forced onto the character, whether it's just there for "sex appeal" for the male gaze or if it just doesn't suit the character or their particular outfit and sadly a fair amount of characters in Fates suffer from this.
  23. Since we've had a daily topic about what we think of characters, and one about the music of Fates, I decided to make one where we give our opinions on the character's aesthetics. Which might have been discussed a bit in the character discussion thread but for this thread It shall be the main focus. Does the clothing appeal to you? any facial features that really makes the character pop? anything that just looks odd to you? post em here. I'll stick with a 2 characters per day formula. List so far: To start us off I figured we'd start with: #1 - Corrin (M/F) I'm rather mixed about Corrin's design. It's not dull by any means and the black and white on the armour looks nice, It just looks a tad bit over designed in comparison to previous lord designs, particularly In comparison to our last avatar character Robin. Also the male version's hair is a tad silly, although the female's hair is actually quite nice. The headpiece is a nice touch to her design. With that said however her design suffers from unnecessary sexualisation in the form of those patch of exposed skin around the thighs. While not the biggest deal since Camilla and Charlotte exist it does feels forced onto her design as her male counterpart doesn't have anything like that (Similar for Effie when compared to Benny but I'll get to that later). It reminds me of Cherche's design in how inconsistent it was with that design choice. Also why do neither of them wear shoes? Since they were first revealed It's stuck out to me like a sore thumb (or in this case, a toe hehe). I'm guessing that it's because when they transform into a dragon they need space for their feet/hands? which is still odd since their armour seems to blend into their body upon transforming, at least that what it looks like. Edit: Also when it came to custom avatar designs for the male I preferred the long hair one as it gave him an elfish look. Haven't used F!Corrin yet so not sure what I'd prefer for her. I suppose we can also discuss Corrin's dragon design while we're at it. If there's one thing I noticed about this game and dragon's is that they seem to be really stretching what can be considered a dragon. Along with Lilith I just don't see them as a dragon, if anything the first thing I thought of upon seeing Corrin's dragon form was Xerneas from Pokemon X...while Lilith is just a bloody koi fish squirrel. #2 - Azura Azura certainly has an interesting design for a dancer. It's exotic, yet mysterious, which suits her character. The one leg stocking thing sticks out though since that's connected to her undergarment, so would that be considered a fan servicy design choice? or is it some kind of pants that just has one leg exposed? It reminds me of Palutena as she had one leg stocking as well. I like her long, flowing blue hair, which also looks hilarious ingame since some classes clothing clips through it or the gear from cloths shops, had her as a berserker recently and the combination of her hair with the barbarian look made me giggle.
  24. With that said however since nohr's recruitment song has been covered I'll do the other one: Day #24 - Guest of Light I really like the instrumentation of this one over the Nohr one. It really sounds good at the 1:00 mark, such a triumphant feel to it, it's nice, and overall I just prefer how it sounds in comparison.
  25. With the lack of responses I kinda lost motivation to keep on posting songs. If any new ones are posted though I will continue to contribute my opinions on them. Speaking of which: Guest of Shade - Between this and the Hoshidan recruitment theme I'd prefer the other one over this but this one still a decent piece for recruitment. Still has that distinct Nohrian vibe to it.
