  1. When you're playing FE, and planning out how you're either going to approach a map, or the next turn, how involved do you get with checking what every enemy could do? Like how deeply do you consider things? Is it: quickly check enemy attack, speed, and skills and throw a strong unit out to tank and deal with what position you're in after enemy phase on the fly, "cross that bridge when we get to it" mentality, or do you meticulously consider which of the enemies will likely hit/miss, crit, who will get every single kill and if they miss who will take it, make back up plans in the case of some super rare percent chance of things going south, etc. for literally every scenario and turn? Basically should one approach the game that meticulously or just take small risks and not worry about it? I feel like the latter sucks the fun out of the game and causes you to progress at a snail's pace.
  2. I understand how they work in each game, but I've always had trouble knowing how often to use it/how to implement it in the most efficient way tactically. Some key questions I have are: -(pertains to both Awakening/guard stance in Fates) Do you actually use both units equally, switching them out as it is called for? Or do you ever take a weak, untrained unit and permanently take up a deployment slot just so they can function as a backpack for one of your good units? In the latter case, do you promote them without even training them/giving them any kills just so they can give better stats to the main unit? -In Awakening, when and why do you have units unpaired, and which ones, and in Fates, which units do you keep in guard stance and which ones in attack stance? -How often do you keep your units as singles and how often do you pair up, in general in Awakening and guard stance in Fates? Do you generally designate pair ups and keep them as a pair for most maps, like highly-supported/married units? -Do you pair up units to make up for weaknesses (pair a unit that gives a stat boost in speed to an armor knight, for instance), or to capitalize and further boost a lead unit's good stats? -In Fates, do you find yourself using the attack stance or guard stance more? How much do you pair up compared to Awakening? Sorry if these are kind of stream-of-consciousness rambling questions. Thanks for any responses.
  3. This is maybe a weird topic but I want to know how many of you DON'T care for Pokemon. I noticed almost every FE player I know is really into Pokemon as well (which makes sense because of Pokemon being a lot of people's intro into jrpgs and both of them being Nintendo franchises and also gameplay similarities like team building) but I want to know if anyone here actually doesn't like Pokemon as a game or is completely indifferent to it.
  4. So in Awakening, I'm not really sure how to utilize pair up properly. It seems to me that having a unit become a backpack all the time is just gonna be detrimental to that unit in the long run because of lack of experience. What do you do? Do you just switch the pair up around evenly throughout battle so both units get kills? Or do you genuinely deploy and attach a bad, un-premoted unit just to be a backpack for stat boosts and/or movement? How does it work? What's the proper way to approach the mechanic? Thanks.
  5. The few fellow Fire Emblem fans I know irl played a lot of Risk, chess, tabletop board games, etc. as kids (and some to this day) but I didn't. I want to know if you all were interested in strategy type board games when you were younger or if you're like me and are just really into Fire Emblem and possibly other strategy/tactical video games.
  6. Missed the DLC for Awakening. Is any of it like a dealbreaker for playing the game in general? I don't care about grinding, I want to make the game as challenging as possible btw. I hear I missed out on a couple of classes and a skill? Also I know I can just watch the DLC supports/story content on youtube

  8. Sorry about the double topics. :x I'm on Birthright/Hard/Classic (I wanted to challenge myself for fun), just beat Chapter 8. My five best guys are probably my avatar, Rinkah, Hana, Kaze, and probably Silas or Orochi in the last chapter.
  9. Hey guys, I'm trying to get into Fire Emblem and tactics games in general but I'm having a weird problem-when I first start playing I feel overwhelmed and stressed trying to make my first move since there are so many things it seems like I'm supposed to keep track of/options I have. How do you confidently make your formation and start moving (and pairing up) units without being worried that you're not playing optimally? I can't shake this OCD "I gotta play perfect" mentality. I have never really played any kind of strategy games before btw. *Note: I posted basically the same topic in the general FE board as well, I hope that's okay.
