  1. This will be my first post in recent times that I'm not doing out of obligation. It's very touching for me seeing as I've known both of you for many years, before and after you got together, and have witnessed you go through a lot (and a lot I didn't witness, I'm sure), and to see it culminate in this brings me great joy. I'm sad I couldn't have been there as I had planned, but oh well! I hope only the best for you two and, as we say here, grow old step by step with each other!

    not late

    1. First/current impressions of me (Refa)?

    2. What about shmups in general appeals to you?

    3. I'm surprised Sonic was so high on the list, despite you never talking about it.  What are your favorite Sonic games?

    4. Would you download Go Sanic Go! on your mobile platform of choice?  Because that would definitely [citation needed] be one of your favorite Sonic games.

    5. What made you decide to do your reinterview now?  Did someone gather all of your body parts and resurrect you?  Again?

    definitely on time

    1. First: You seemed so innocent and tiny, I thought you were kind of a little boy. Maybe it was the Megaman avatar too. But then you showed you were more than meets the eye.
Current: I was trying to find a pic of the Gynoug ending, but I couldn't find the one I wanted. =( AT ANY RATE, you're a great guy (self-proclaimed but now also me proclaimed). You're very fun to be around and you probably already have heard this a billion times but you're also very witty and funny. It's really refreshing and fun to talk to you, and you always have something good and interesting to say about things, especially when it comes to vidgams. I enjoy your company and respect you a lot in general! I'd definitely say I consider you among my best friends, but I dunno how you feel about that so it's tentative.

    2. Oh man it's THE question. I think one of the biggest parts of the appeal is the amazing sense of adventure it gives, going into and bravely challenging the unknown as a lone ship. The first Gradius is probably a good example of this, with the music and everything, but I think Gradius II: GOFER no Yabou is even better about it, and then it reaches its zenith with Gradius Gaiden, one of the greatest games ever made. Otherwise, I think shmups also are one of the genres with the greatest potential for visual-aural storytelling and making the most of their sound and graphics to make a great atmosphere and setting. Darius, Metal Black and R-Type are all really good examples of this, but it's not like Gradius skimps out on it either, though each of them does it in a pretty different way and plays to different parts of my fancy (Darius is deep and otherworldly, R-Type is alien and horrific, and sometimes even melancholic, and Gradius is very exciting and adventure-y, especially in a pulp sci-fi kind of way). I think Metal Black makes one of the best uses of this, actually, because of how much the game's visuals and music tell a magnificently bleak story. Since there's no other text besides the opening and the ending, that's all they can rely on, and they did really super well with that. I think it's for this reason that I find shmups that actually go kinda "story heavy" to be a little underwhelming, because nothing beats that sort of storytelling to me (as far as shmups go anyway, but maybe for other things too).  Besides those, the games also tend to be really well-designed and deeply strategic, even if their mechanics are actually simple when you think about it, and I like the amount of variety there is in how the games present themselves. To bring up the big three again, Gradius is about choosing the right power-ups at the right times, learning stages and enemies and having good reflexes; Darius stages can get pretty manic, but the main interest is the massive, elaborate bosses whose patterns you have to learn by heart if you want to have a chance against them; and R-Type is the original memoriser, where you have to learn all the magnificently intricate stages and enemy patterns before you can make any progress (but just learning those won't be enough, you have to learn how to deal with them too), and the force module is a brilliant idea. I also like horizontal shmups more than vertical ones as a general rule, since their design tends to incorporate the environment and a greater variety of enemies. And they're just so exhilarating and liberating! All in all, shmups appeal to me because they do a lot of things really well! And then there are things like Parodius and the likes, which are just so absurd and colourful, they're amazing.

    3. I grew up on Sonic! It was a really huge part of my life for many years, but I end up never talking about it mostly because I guess it's a thing that happened at some point and I don't really consider it that much (like how people don't really talk about the intricacies of walking, or walking at all). That list had no particular order to it, but I like Sonic a lot for a bunch of things. I like the older games because of the stage designs, they're usually really good at being huge, filled with secrets and alternate routes, and still making sense and being coherent, and I also like them a lot lot lot for having really gorgeous and kinda absurd and surreal graphics and art direction. Like, take Sonic 1 for example, with the chequerboard ground in Green Hill and the palm tree leaves look like they're made of paper! There's a lot more I can bring up as examples but you probably already know them. The music also tends to be super stylish and sometimes funky, and I love it for that. It's also a generally fun game to play. In contrast to Mario's more precise nature (or a lot of other platformers' really), Sonic is pretty loose so you play it by ear a lot of the time. That really suits my personality and play style. Sometimes the story is pretty cool too (textless again!) like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which is actually really impressive and engrossing in its own way. And for the newer games...I like the atmosphere and music and actually kind of unironically like the stories in those too. I don't think the mechanics and design stand as well as the older Sonic games', but they can still be pretty okay. I still need to give Sonic CD a serious try though.

    4. DEFINITELY IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST GAME and would also probably solve all the lack of exercise problems in the modern world.

    5. Yes...I had put a curse on SF and I had to be resurrected just to be killed again in an unholy ritual. Now you won't have any more horrible cursed nights. =)

    6. What would you say if someone you hated asked you for your first/current impressions?

    7. In your professional opinion, what areas can I improve in?  If it's avatar choice, I"m not listening.

    8. Thoughts on small talk?

    9. What are your thoughts on the Bubble Bobble timeline?  Which branch is better, the Bubble Bobble sequels or Rainbow Islands?

    10. Noticed you had a lot of old arcade games on your list, so I was wondering what you think about arcades themselves.  What about the ones you visited?

    Definitely not.

    6. Give 'em my honest opinion. I'd honestly be glad to let it loose.

    7. I don't know what  specifically, but I do think everyone always stands to challenge themselves and their views and mentalities every now and then. Expanding your horizons and broadening your mind and all is always pretty great. But that's not just a personal thing so uh...you could probably play more SaGa games definitely. That's okay, you always choose avatars that look like your real self so obviously great choices!!!

    8. Small talk is okay and a pretty good way to unwind, especially with good friends! It's exhausting when it's all you can ever do though.

    9. It's a bit confusing to be sure, but I think I like Bubble Bobble a lot more, even though Rainbow Islands is pretty great too.

    10. Arcades are the BEST! I really love them. They're rife with colour, excitement, sound and power, and they tend to have a lot of really great games. The ones I visited were all basically like that! Except for the few poor ones that didn't have nearly enough good/interesting machines. And I was going to ride this one horse racing simulator, but the guy said it's only for kids and asked me to get down AFTER I had already frickin' paid for the stupid thing. He was wrong, of course, but I didn't feel like arguing. Oh well. They're great otherwise though! One of my favourite places to go, but it's too bad I don't really have any near me. =(

as the pokemon stadium 2 announcer would say, i'm making up for lost time

    11. RPGs are long games.  What do they need to do (in general) to hold your interest?

    12. Why do you believe in not having to achieve anything in order to live a good life?  Less questioning you, more curiosity.

    13. Why are T-Rex's better than Triceratops?

    14. Actually, what are some of your other favorite dinosaurs?

    15. Thoughts on ramen?  On a scale of me to Ken Doi, how much ramen have you had?

Hahaha, well, you certainly are! Not that I mind or anything.

    11. I like them to have a really good world/setting (which extends to the visual representation of it) and good/great music, and then a good story wouldn't hurt either. Finally, I'd have to have some interesting and well thought out mechanics to keep me from getting too bored of playing the game. With these things in place, even if some parts are bad or annoying (e.g. super high encounter rate a la Digital Devil Saga or Breath of Fire III to a lesser extent), then I'm going to enjoy the whole enough to not care for the bad parts.

    12. I guess I meant it more in the way achievements are typically viewed, e.g. material things. I don't think you'd need to have some really super great amazing achievement to be living a good life. For example, I don't think you'd need to pass university with top grades or become the CEO of a successful company to have a good life. A humble worker living in a small house may not have achieved anything of importance, for example, but he can be happier than a king even, with his simple life. That's what the true achievement is in my eyes, but that's not how most people view it unfortunately, so it leads to them expecting too much and being very greedy and insufferable about things. Of course, I'm not saying that you shouldn't ever try to achieve big things, because that's great in itself and definitely has value and we would, as human beings, stagnate if everyone just stopped trying to do things. I just think it's not really necessary to do so on a personal level.

    13. They're actually not! All creations are equal, but I just think I like T. Rexes better.

    14. Oh man, there's so much you don't even know. I guess I'll try to keep it to one of each clade...but I like Brachiosaurus a lot among sauropods, it's so tall and majestic, and Triceratops is actually really cool and probably the coolest ceratopsian, it's very powerful and could probably topple most modern buildings and shrug it off, and Ankylosaurus is amazing with its massively thick, nigh impenetrable armour and clubbed tail. Stegosaurus is kind of really weird, but they look really grand with all those spikes and the huge body. Utahraptor is what every piece of dinosaur media thinks Velociraptors and Deinonychus are, so that's amazing! Pachycephalosaurus is pretty great too with the super thick skull, and Parasaurolophus' crest is incredible. The T. Rex is, of course as you know, the tyrant king itself and it is possibly the greatest predator to have ever lived. Powerful muscles, a bite that can crush concrete, and probably a roar that shook the Earth itself. Dinosaurs were amazing, incredible creatures, and I wish they still existed.

    15. I haven't had REAL ramen unfortunately, so I can't be Ken Doi. =( But I've had a lot of instant ones, and while they can be pretty tasty, they really lose the appeal after you've had them about 5000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times. Lately though, I've been trying to spruce it up with extra things and that works pretty well thankfully! So the final verdict: instant ramen (the brands I get at least) is OKAY.

    16. If you had to describe yourself in the most positive light possible (while also being honest), how would you do it?

    17. Are you a psychopath????

    18. Have you played the Exile games?  If so, what are your thoughts on them?  If not, what are your thoughts on them?  What are your thoughts on them?

    19. How do you decide what's your favorite when you get those questions?

    20. Thoughts on Roy Mustang?

and fuck context while we're at it

    16. I guess I'd say I try to be honest, sincere, open-minded and just. Keyword: try. That's as positive as I'll be.

    17. A-absolutely not!

    18. I haven't, but they really interest me because they're a Japanese take on Middle Eastern history (even if it's...not exactly just that, but I'll leave it be). I also think the Working Designs story of how they made Exile 2 impossible by accident is really hilarious. I'd love to try the games one day.

    19. I think about which ones I like a lot, but then the thing is that I like a lot of things a lot. So every favourite question turns into me rambling about how everything is great. Ah well, c'est la vie.

    20. He's pretty cool, though I didn't like some things about him the first time I read the manga, but it's also been almost ten years or so since I read it, so I should probably re-read it and tell you again.

    cuteness is justice

    21. Do you err on the side of justice or forgiveness?  More of a general thing, since I'd be worried if you only did one 100% of the time!

    22. How do you get motivated to do things?

    23. What's so great about children?

    24. Pay students for studying?  When are you going to take over the world and institute this because I'm hyped.

    25. Why did you kill me? ;_;

    agreed

    21. Forgiveness, but sometimes forgiveness itself is justice, so this is a false dichotomy. I'm calling you out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Nah j/k I know what you mean) But usually it's forgiveness because I realise deeply how easy it is for people to make mistakes or to do things they regret now, and also because if I do something bad (whether because of a mistake or because I let myself go too far or etc.) I would like it if people were to forgive me too. And you know, if you want the LORD to forgive you, you should try to forgive others as well. I also, however, realise that sometimes there's no way but to enact justice, even if it's painful and unbearable to do so.

    22. It's usually thinking about the good things that will come of it, but sometimes motivation just happens spontaneously. It's really hard to motivate myself when I'm not at all, though...

    23. They're cute, fun, funny, and they are our future! They were also once our past, you know. They're the lifeblood of the world, and they bring much warmth, happiness and stability to it all. They are also possibly the greatest catalyst for personal growth and making people actually not be monsters.

    24. Hahaha, I only wish! But I don't quite trust myself to take over the world, even though I really do want to better it, but that's how all dictators are born. =(

    25. SORRY, I didn't feel like fucking or marrying anyone, so I just made a joke, cop-out response instead. =( How did you find out what it was that I said though?

    26. Favorite method of communication?

    27. What's your Myerrs Briggs personality type?  How well does it describe you?

    28. What kinda game is your game idea?  What are its inspirations?

    29. If you had to name your game after a Queen song, which one would you pick?

    30. Who's cooler, old people (as in, senior citizen age) or children?

are these references?! I spot some of them...

    26. Real life, face to face, hand to hand, man to man. Just like my daddy taught me.

    27. It's usually INTJ, and it tends to describe me pretty well, but it's also filled with a bunch of holes. I guess that's okay though since they're meant to be super general and not super specific, but I feel like I don't really fit any single type now.

    28. It's an action RPG! Except that I also want it to have a lot of platforming, but not necessarily the two together (although being able to do that would be awesome if I can figure it out). I'd like to make it a game as much about its characters as it is about its world, but also about existence in general. So obviously, it will have a lot of humanistic, environmental and existential themes, among others. I also really love human history and culture, and the fact that there's so many cultures around the world, so I'd like to incorporate that passion and variety into my game. Sorta like Suikoden, I guess. Its inspirations...there's a lot of them in real life of course, myself and a big turning point in my life included. I try to take as much as I can from my and other peoples' experiences, not to mention history and culture in general, because I think things like that are what will truly enrich it. As far as other games go though, Final Fantasy (specifically V), Brave Fencer Musashi, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Terranigma, ActRaiser, Breath of Fire III and Suikoden are all pretty big ones, and from other things, Guin Saga, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and various books on fiction and non-fiction in various languages, including poetry and such. But perhaps one of its biggest influences is Konami's Gaiapolis. It's not all that great of a game, but I listened to its soundtrack a lot while writing and thinking about the game, so it's really stuck to me now. It's a great soundtrack too, give it a listen when you can! There's a lot I'm drawing from, so I hope I can bring it all together and make it good!

    29. PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE. I didn't mention it because of this question (retroactively, I actually didn't notice until now) but that song itself is a very big inspiration for the game and its story!

    30. They're opposite ends of the spectrum, and I love the idea of contrast, so both are very cool! Especially when together.

    31. Thoughts on the Mega Man franchise and all of its subseries?

    32. How can you tell if people like you?  How can you tell if they love you????

    33. Would you consider yourself to be selfish?  Why or why not?

    34. Any questions you don't want to be asked? ;)

    35. What modern games are you interested in?

    TOTALLY

    31. Megaman is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo huge holy shit. Whenever I thought I had a handle on the series, I discovered 500 other spin-offs. That's just crazy, man! But as far as huge franchises go, Megaman is one of the most quality ones. While I won't vouch for every single spin-off (I will fight to the death for Megaman Soccer, though), I think a lot of the main series and subserieses are very good. I like the original and X ones a lot and Zero was cool from what I remember of it (it's been more than 20 years since I seriously played it), and Legends is...well, the fucking legend. It's an incredible franchise/series overall, and I think my life is all the better for knowing it! I should really get around to playing more of it, though...

    32. Usually I discern it by the way they are when with me/around me or the way they talk to me and etc. and that usually turns out to be a pretty accurate way of telling! I can also probably tell they love me because they say it a lot.

    33. In some ways, I guess I am! I like to really keep my solitude in real life, and hate for it to be disturbed. I think this is not a good trait, though, and I'd like to amend it soon. I also usually don't think of doing things for others (for example, at dinner I'd usually bring soda only for myself) but that's more me not actually thinking of it/being negligent than me being selfish and going "fuck everyone else I'm the only important one here". I don't think I'd call myself selfish otherwise, because whenever there's a chance I tend to take the most selfless route.

    34. N-not really. I'm okay with most everything...I think.

    35. I think Breath of the Wild looks and sounds good, and Final Fantasy XV doesn't seem half bad. Yakuza is probably the one I'm most interested in. And Abzû looks really interesting to me too! I don't think I like a lot of newer games, though...

    38. You're going to America?!  When?  Where?  Why? How?  What

are you going to do there?

    39. Do you ever get jealous?  When's that?

    40. If you had to choose between ALL CAPS and no caps for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?  Please respond in the appropriate format to show your sincerity.

    YO REFA-SAN

    36. Wh-which question was it?!

    37. Yeah, maybe some people! Probably Mei and Rei Rei, too be honest. The others I kinda already talk a lot too, so that's okay!

    38. HOPEFULLY SOON, I don't know the specifics though. =( As for the why...there's a lot of reasons! I wanna meet people, mostly. The where will probably be a lot of places, including but not limited to New York, Kentucky, Ohio and Arizona. As for how, likely by flight, but maybe I'll take a walk there instead! I'm mostly probably going to eat food and hang out with a few friends! I'd like to go to some arcades too!

    39. Jealous or envious? If it's jealous, then sometimes I kinda do when I feel like someone I like might be taken from me, or have their attention/thoughts taken from me. It's a bit silly, but I kind of get jealous very easily. If it's envious though, I pretty much never envy anyone, whew.

2044: VERY DETAILED HUH. You could totally answer yours any other time, that's how these things work! But as for me...

    Spoiler

In NO particular order, it goes something like this:

    1. Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Definitely among the top ones, what's to say about this series that hasn't been said before? A lot, it turns out. It's one of the few animes out there that can deal with themes of war, honour, justice, politics, humanity, and etc. and not only deal with them, but do it exceedingly well. The characters and plotlines are not only incredibly interesting and well thought out, they're also very down to earth and realistic, and the voice acting reflects that very much (contrary to a lot of anime). It's pretty much like "wow these people and events can exist/happen" and it brings great joy in that regard. Besides that, I also appreciate the art style in how much variety it gives to everyone when it comes to facial features and body types and all. Also great is that it almost exclusively uses classical music for its soundtrack! It really adds to the regal and sophisticated feeling of the anime. The openings and endings are really great too, especially the endings. They're incredible.

    2. Slayers: Both the first season and NEXT are among the greatest things ever made. While LoGH is on the other side of the spectrum in how it's mature, sophisticated and all that good stuff, Slayers is loud, boisterous and exciting. But that's not bad! In fact, it's to its benefit! Slayers has supreme, witty comedy with excellent delivery all the way through, and all the various comical and lighthearted situations help you to relax and feel a sense of familiarity with the characters, and increases the perception of their camaraderie. Because once the comedy has been done for a while, Slayers gets SERIOUS and it shines just as brilliantly in those moments as it did before. Though very comical in nature (people usually take that for being shallow or something), Slayers actually has really considered and interesting characters, and a set of deep and complex mythos. Of course, the art style is the zenith of 90s anime art styles and so so so beautiful, and the music is appropriately incredible, especially the (yup) openings and endings. and the voice acting is TOP NOTCH (God bless the Megumi Hayashibara).

    3. Princess Tutu: Really excellent spin on the mahou shoujo genre, Princess Tutu is the story of a Duck (literally, that's her name), and what a magnificent story it is! Very dramatic, and though it looks somewhat silly at first, turns out to be a deep, complex and somewhat tragic and dark story full of unexpected twists and turns. Incredibly strong character development and excellent usage of visual and musical devices (there's a lot of Tchaikovsky, as expected of a ballet anime), Princess Tutu transcends the humble beginnings of her genre and becomes something much more. Forget about Madoka, this was the original deconstruction of the magical girl genre, and it's so much better too!

    4. Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still: Magnificent OVA that more or less takes all of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga legacy and makes them all into a sweeping, dramatic OVA centred on Yokoyama's Giant Robo, but with an all-new plot and setting. Whether it's the gung-ho Experts of Justice or the massively over-the-top MAGNIFICENT TEN (the villains), it's full of incredibly well-choreographed scenes, all set to appropriately grand music, with characters so strong they make you really wish that they actually continued this series why didn't they. =(

    5. Turn A Gundam: Absolutely the perfect Gundam show in every single way. Whereas other Gundam shows had weaknesses in a lot of points, Turn A is the maturation of Tomino's storytelling and direction, and it really shows in how much better he deals with themes of war, immigration, expansionism and the likes, and it has so much more nuance than previous entries. The characters are also much more thoughtfully written, and they develop really well and realistically throughout the story. It also has a great setting and plot, and looks amazing too since it's set in a colonial-ish era. Good music too! Definitely deserves being called the best Gundam, and one of the best anime ever!

    6. Neon Genesis Evangelion: This was a monumental series, both for Japan and for me. It's actually really amazing and good, but fandom discourse about it won't let you know that, of course. It's very complex and hamfisted in some ways, but also very nuanced at the same time. The psychological themes, the horrifying angels, the even more horrifying EVAs, the cruel humans, the countless mysteries that run through the series and the amazing musical score, coupled with the unique visual style...they are this series' lifeblood and they give it the power and lasting effect it has, even now over 20 years after its release.

    7. Laputa: Castle in the Sky: Hey, you didn't just say series! Laputa is great for all the things you already know about. The magnificent, beautiful and detailed environments and machinery, the great characters and musical score, and the compelling plot. It's so great in fact that like every video game since has ripped it off in an attempt to emulate its greatness (and they succeeded, somewhat!). The saying is true: if it's not ripping off Miyazaki, it's ripping off Star Wars.

    8. Armoured Trooper VOTOMS: Gosh, the fourth mecha in this list. But that's because I don't watch too much anime. Anyway, VOTOMS is incredible in a unique way. Sure, Gundam did the whole gritty, war-based mecha stories and all first and VOTOMS came a good while later, but it goes into the real robot aspect so much more, The world is bleak, grungy, and kind of hopeless. The main character is a veteran suffering from PTSD. Hounded wherever he goes not just by people wanting his head, but by his own memories of the battlefield. It's much, much heavier, darker and more depressing when it comes to dealing with war themes, and good for that. And that's not all, the mechs are pretty great too! Unlike everything else which has pretty glorious mechs, all the VOTOMS mechs are small-ish, tanky things that would go for the mooks in any other series. But here? They're the main deal. They're kind of the only deal, and they feel so much more realistic as they're more or less like the natural evolution of the tank. Anyway VOTOMS is great and has a great opening and ed.

    9. Patlabor 2: The Movie: Mamoru Oshii directs this sequel to Patlabor: The Movie and in tone, plot and everything...it's just not really Patlabor. Supremely politically inclined, full of detective work (they are police after all) and masterfully paced and directed, it's the perfect Patlabor movie, even if it may not be very Patlabor. Also with a striking soundtrack that sets the mood perfectly and great usage of shadows, angles and lenses, it's Oshii at his best doing what he does best with one of the best IPs.

    10. Probably Sailor Moon: Actually make that a definitely! It's really fun and great, has great music and beautiful 90s anime art. It's also way superior to Crystal, much more interesting and expressive. I haven't actually finished the entire series yet though, but I couldn't think of anything else I'd put in the top 10 so I just put this in. Whew. I'll get back to you when I watch more animes! I mostly just read mangays instead so I couldn't fill this in after some point, but I'll redo it whenever I get to see more things, like uhh...that one anime about a girl. =)

2046: Are you main charecterish?  What does one have to do to be that?

2047: What do you think about the prevalence of fanservice in modern media?

2048: If you could be on an episode of Game Center CX, what would it be about?

2049: Actually, what are your favourite episodes of Game Center CX in general?

2050: Do you have any TOP TIER ADVICE on how to be happy regardless of the situation (unless the situation warrants being unhappy, of course)?

    yee haw

2046: I wouldn't really say, since main characters tend to suck. :smug: Really though, it depends on what you're the main character of since typically, each medium, genre and even culture demand for different sorts of main characters. I guess generally being the main focus is enough, but that means everyone is the main character of their own stories, which is true!

2047: It depends a lot on the context and execution. I'm generally not fond of it at all, but if it's in a comical/absurd context or if it makes sense for the thing it's in (e.g. Catherine) or other such similar things then I'm more likely to tolerate it. Otherwise though it's one of the things that can turn me off pretty easy, especially if it's just there for titillation and nothing else, and its massive prevalence especially in recent years is kind of repulsive.

2048: AKUMAJOU DORAKYURA or maybe SaGa definitely. Those are the two things I'd like to talk about the most, but I'd be okay with a lot of other things too! After all, it's Game Center CX we're talking about here. Who wouldn't want to be with the Kacho?

2049: I have unfortunately been unable to watch past the second season. =( But so far, I really like the Koei, Capcom and Taito episodes. The Makaimura and Konami Wai Wai World episodes were also really neat! It's a great show in general, and I love a lot of the episodes. Arino makes everything he does very entertaining and relaxing to watch, and the episodes tend to be really nice and informative otherwise. It's such a good show! Every other video game show should've learned from it, to be honest. If they did now we'd just have a lot of Arinos and not 1000000000000000 people citing how "Super Castlevania IV is easy/not engaging and the sub-weapons are useless because blah blah blah" and they'd all just be cool instead.

2050: TOP TIER ADVICE huh. Physically speaking, there's a lot of things that can affect our moods; sleep, diet and exercise are all incredibly effective at doing these things, so a good amount of sleep (preferably before 11 PM until about 7 or 8 AM, depending on your needs), a good and well-balanced diet and even a moderate amount of exercise (just a 30 minute walk a day will do at the beginning) will do wonders for your mood. While I think it's definitely possible to be able to do the things I'm about to say without doing these other things, it just makes them so much more easier and more lasting too. As for the rest: I guess the best thing I can tell you is to have no expectations. What does this mean? It means that by expecting good things, you can't also at the same time not think of the bad things, and thinking of the bad things will only distract you from what you need to do. If the situation doesn't really call for being all that sad (or at all), then take the situation and either make it a happier one for yourself or if it's already not bad, then just look/think of the parts that make you happy. Distractions are your biggest friends when you're feeling unhappy in general, so try a lot of uplifting and happy things to help change that. Surround yourself with things you love and things that make you happy. Good, optimistic stuff! Avoid anything that would be annoying or cynical or negative or etc. Finally, to make any of this last, you will be in need of a pillar of strength. It can't be of anything that's material, because whatever that is material is subject to ruin and destruction, even if eventual. An abstract one, however, is not. Playing shmups is also definitely a great way to improve your mood, 100% scientific fact! At the end though, if there's anything else I can say it's to not overthink things too much, and if things don't always go your way, then that's just how life is! It's our duty to make the best of whatever happens, and you know, life's just too short to not make use of it, right? Don't worry about any lost time though, whatever time you "lost" was definitely a good experience and will serve as a good stepping stone for everything else. It's also good to keep in mind that I guess you don't really need to be happy or anything at all times, it's okay to be neutral too! I've found these things to work for myself pretty well, and after working at it for a while without stop, you'll be able to build the mental strength to avoid it or rebound from it later on. There's not much else I can say, so sorry if this isn't as good as you were expecting. =(

jet fuel can't melt steel beams

2051: Your castle totally normal, average, every day, run of the mill, mundane house idea seemed pretty cool, but I noticed it was lacking in ninja maids.  Is this something you'd implement further down the line, in a few hundred years or so?  Would you have a spare area for your esteemed pal Olcox?

2052: Favorite mythical creature?  What about it appeals to you, and are you afraid that it'd try to eat you?

2053: What personality traits do you look for in other people?

2054: What are your thoughts on Treasure?  If they could make a new game, what would you want it to be like?

2055: Actually, if Treasure could get their hands on an OLD game franchise, what would you want that to be?

yeah it was an inside job

2051: Oh yeah, I'd definitely hire those ninja maids later on. I forgot about them, so thanks for reminding me! Unfortunately, Olcox passed away some time ago, but I can install you in the guest wing instead. We'll just name it uh...Reflox's Quarters...or something...

2052: Dragons are pretty fascinating, but would yokai count? I really love yokai, all sorts of yokai! My favourite are probably ONI, but I also love those that are just an umbrella with one leg, one eye and a tongue sticking out. I wouldn't really be afraid of dragons or yokai eating me, to be honest. Well, actually, oni do eat people, so I guess I would be...

2053: I don't really know, I never really actively look for specific things in people, and never really go looking for people in general! I enjoy it, however, when people I associate with are open-minded, nice, informed, have a sense of humour, and etc. etc. but it's by no means a requirement! I like all sorts of people.

2054: I really love Treasure. I've mostly played their Megadrive and Saturn output, but that's a stellar collection right there! And probably their best if we're being honest. If they could make a new game...I'd like to see them try their hands at an RPG, that's something they haven't really done. Of course, I'd like it to be filled with the usual Treasure-isms, including intricate mechanics that no one can understand.

2055: If they had to get an old franchise, I'd like to be one where they won't be restricted too much by it, so...something like Contra could do the trick! Or GnG could be pretty great too, to see a Treasure take on it. I'd honestly be interested to see their take on a lot of old franchises, but those two come to mind first. Oh and Goemon too! I think that would be neat.

2060: In general, what are your favourite character designs?

    resistance makes my...

2056: It's garbage. I wish they'd kept BB Code formatting intact, at least, but they didn't even do that! It's amazing how software progressively is going towards becoming less and less intuitive and more bloated.

2057: They're just so incredibly charismatic, and usually the best looking and sounding of the cast. They're also usually very hammy and can chew scenery like nothing else! Definitely the most interesting of all characters too. Though none of this happens always...but it's often enough!

2058: I try to do things that would distract me from it and calm me down, like eating ice cream or taking a long walk (usually exhausting myself does the trick), and then trying not to think about it or think of ways I could help it/make it better or how it's not actually all that bad, etc. etc. but I try to avoid getting to that point in the first place. Once I'm feeling a bit better, I try to extend it by doing things I enjoy.

2059: I have, and it's pretty great! I wish Awankening and Fartes had similar art/designs.

2060: I think you already know that I pretty much like all of Kojima's character designs for Castlevania, haha. I also like a good amount of the older designs too. This page lists a bunch of SaGa Frontier character art, which I will choose as my representative of the SaGa series in general! The whole series has really amazing character designs, and I love Kobayashi's art. On that page in specific, I like KING SEI, Dr. Nusakan (my Discord pic!), Time Lord and Vadjouel a lot (it's supposed to be Virgil, but I guess this person was transliterating from Japanese). Asellus, Princess Whiterose and Meiren (actually Mei Ling) are pretty great too. And just because I like you, I'll re-link this picture of Saruin, the main antagonist of Romancing SaGa, which is definitely one of my favourite designs of forever. This guy is called Hector, and he's a mercenary in Romancing SaGa 2. Definitely a top tier design too! I won't link them since you're familiar, but I also love pretty much every Amano design, Final Fantasy or otherwise, but I like his Warrior of Light for FF1, the Emperor for FFII, and most of all, Golbez and Exdeath. God, those armours... A-anyway, there's a lot of character designs I like! I could list you more, but it'll probably turn into an essay at this rate (though tbh this post already is an essay). I like a bunch of Suikoden and (older) FE char designs too, and the Mana series has some great stuff as well. They might seem a bit generic, but I like Aletheia and Lucius from Granblue Fantasy. And of course, you know I like Rosch and Eruca a lot too. This all should give you a good window into the sorts of things I like!

2062: Most definitely my religion. I would be nothing without it.

2063: I really love the Megadrive, the NES, SNES, Saturn, Wii, PS2, Dreamcast and even the Master System! And probably others too. But I think the top spot miiiight be taken by the PSX, but all the ones I mentioned I love for a lot of reasons, so they're all great! PSX has probably the best library though.

2064: I need to learn Japanese first, so I can play all the ones that are Japan only (heard some of the earlier translated ones have bad translations and bland graphics and etc.). At that point, I will eventually make my way towards tits! So uh, definitely very soon!

    71. The one I described to Kim, probably.
    72. I love puns! But they must be used appropriately and with finesse.
    73. I don't know if you're looking for fiction or non-fiction (I'm guessing fiction) or what genre, and I don't know what you've already read and not read, or even what sorts of books you like, but...my recommendations go something like Dracula, Frankenstein, Invisible Man, To Kill a Mockingbird, Les Misérables, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Gone With the Wind, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, George's Marvellous Medicine, The Iron Giant, Faust, Discworld novels (Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic are my favs and the first in the series; Hogfather is also very good), and...I dunno, those are what come to mind first! I'd have to take a look at my shelves to remember more, so have these on your backburner for now. Dracula is probably my fave of the bunch, but I love Les Misérables and Frankeinstein a lot too. I'm lame and pretty much only read classical novels. =(
    74. Blood red.
    75. I love the rain, and the wind, and the lightning and thunder, and pretty much any weather phenomena! They're so incredible and beautiful, each in their own ways, and I'm always in awe of them and they tend to brighten my day (even though it gets cloudy) every time they happen. ;__;
    76. N-no, of course not! Whatever could make you think that?!
    77. I'd wish for the prosperity of mankind, for the poor and depraved to get what they need, and then free the genie.
    78. A woodchuck chucks wood by wooding chuck, I believe.
    79. If it's something I really want to go to, I would definitely spend $200 or maybe a bit more. I expect concerts to be expensive deals in general, so I won't shy away too much from paying.
    80. Difficult question for me. Certainly, I'd love a game's mechanics if they're well done, but I tend to enjoy the artistic and creative aspects of a game much more than most others would. So if a game was creatively great, I'd love it as a game even if the mechanics and design are mediocre. But of course, I know the best games are those which have everything done well. So I guess I'd say I value graphics and story more, but that's also a difficult thing to say since everything in a game is so closely tied together that I don't think I'd want a game any different than it is. I think in the end the creative aspects edge out the mechanical aspects for me, but I value all of them deeply. While I look at games as more works of art, there's no doubt that they're works of engineering as well, and I can't help but appreciate them for it when both are done well, similar to appreciating a well-made and beautiful building.

There's just too many incredible poems to choose from, but these should give you a good idea of the sort of thing I like! They have unfortunately lost their metre, rhyme and some level of nuance and wordplay in their translation, but it should still be good! Translated humbly by yours truly and, seeing as how I am no expert, they might be a bit rough, but I tried my best to convey the meanings (not to plug or anything, though...).
    87. I've been usually said to be (by other people) the cool and mysterious dude who only shows up to help in a pinch or to give advice. The aloof mentor, basically. In reality, I'd probably be a background character, if you ask me.

What's up with that? I don't really actually hate these though, but they were funny and came to mind first. There's probably some clichés I actually don't like that I don't remember right now.
    89. Fourth from right or first from left.
    90. I love necklaces, rings and bracelets! Each of them can add a certain beauty, a certain kind of character to the person wearing them. I have my own rings, in fact, and I have a genuine ruby that I'm not sure what to do with. Maybe some sort of head jewellery...but jewellery is amazing in general, I wish I had more.

    21. I'd love to visit all the kabuki theatres, because I love kabuki and I really want to see as many live performances as I can, by the most esteemed actors in the work. I'd also love to visit some traditional and authentic sushi places. Preferably one run by a really old guy who's mastered everything there is in life. Otherwise, I'd like to go to just about every place, natural, historical or otherwise. And definitely the arcades! Japan has some of the greatest in the world, and arcades and arcade games are just too good. I love them so much.

    22. My dream house would basically be a gigantic castle. It would have an entrance hallway with giant windows, adorned with red curtains. It would also have a long inner segment of beautifully carved marble and a tower on the other side of the inner segment that looks out over the lake that is definitely in the castle's proximity. A gigantic library to hold all the tomes of knowledge would be excellent, as would a clock tower right next to the castle that is nonetheless connected to it intimately. There will of course be a place of worship, a quaint but grandiose chapel with towering bell towers that stretch into the clouds. A well-equipped and beautiful laboratory for all sorts of fascinating experiments is a must of course, and the basement and caverns under the castle must be kept well, for I shall have catacombs underneath them. Another wing of the castle, for residence and joy making, perhaps as a guest wing of sorts, would also be sublime. And finally, the castle keep will be the centrepiece, and where I shall reside.

Failing that, a traditional Japanese house would be nice.

    6. It depends on what I want, but usually chocolate does the trick.

    7. All kinds! I don't discriminate. Instrumental, vocal, soundtrack, mainstream, underground, whatever. As long as I like it, it's my music.

    8. I wish. =(

    9. I don't, and I really don't want any. I'd rather not have to deal with pets and the mess they make. Even if they never made a mess, just the thought of having animals walk around my house makes my clean freak senses go into overdrive.

    10. BLACK, RED, PURPLE, GOLD, SILVER, GREEN, BROWN...I'll stop before I list every colour in existence, but I think you get the idea.

    11. I probably don't have a singular favourite movie, but I love The Message a lot.

    12. Rafflesia, lithops, victoria amazonica...they're all pretty fantastic. Plants are absolutely fascinating, and probably the best life form on Earth. Contrary to animals, I would not mind having a billion plants at home.

    95. Gosh, there are so many pretty and great gemstones. Diamonds sparkle and radiate, rubies are such a deep and impressive red...sapphires, aquamarines, onyxes, zircons, bloodstones, etc. etc. are all really great, and emeralds are the most chaotic. I'd probably go for rubies, but all gemstones are excellent! And especially for complementing outfits and moods and etc. you'd definitely need different ones.

    21. The 1939 film? I have indeed. While I think the novel is generally superior, it was a good adaptation. Also kind of cool how it was made just three years after the novel's release. It always tickles my fancy when something is adapted while the original author is still alive.
    22. I don't know...nothing really seems complex to me, but I guess certain stews and stuff that have a lot of steps to them.
    23. I don't think it's impossible to pull off well, but it's not something just anyone can do fairly and justly. For that reason, I think it's generally best to avoid it and to also avoid encouraging it. It's almost never done with noble intentions/motives either, so there's that to take into account also. People are going to be hurt and lives will be made difficult.
    24. Absolutely repulsive. I won't judge if it was done out of desperation/necessity, but it's not something I would do either.
    25. I don't typically eat strange things, but I guess I've had offal. To most westerners, that's pretty weird! I've had sheep brains and eyes in particular, those seem to be the ones that weird people out the most.

    10. Any personal philosophy or mindset you try to stick to?

    6. Some situations call for fight, some others call for flight. It's not a question of just one or the other all the time.

    7. Definitely summer, but each season has its own beauty and redeeming values.

    8. I usually get INTJ. Some parts of it fit so well it's a bit scary, but some other parts...not so much. I don't really remember the particulars right now, so I can't say exactly which.

    9. I do. Three of them, in fact. I get along with them well enough, though we have our disagreements. But what healthy relationship doesn't?

    10. Moderation and altruism. It might be a bit too simple of an answer, but that's the general gist of what I try to be (keyword: try). Of course, I also try to improvise as the situation calls for it and be flexible where I can.

    11. favorite philosopher?

    12. favorite work of a philosopher?

    13. what's more important: emotions or rationale??

    14. are extremities ever good?

    15. do the ends justify the MEMES?

    11. It's hard to say a definite favourite, but I like Mulla Sadra and Ibn Sina a lot. They're both possessing of a powerful intellect and are absolutely thorough, though not without their faults. The Buddha is also magnificent, he's been a personal inspiration for me for a long time. Zhuangzi has said a lot of excellent things on record, and I appreciate him a lot. I'm not 100% on any of the ones I mentioned, but I find to feel more divisive when it comes to western philosophers. There are, of course, a lot I like as a whole (e.g. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Kant, Aquinas, etc.) but they also tend to say things that make me raise eyebrows. All that said however, I don't try to exactly "follow" any philosopher, but I take what I like about their works and always keep in mind that since they are also human, no matter how powerful, they also make some egregious mistakes (one could say that with people like them, their mistakes has the potential to be pretty huge). Eastern philosophy is generally strong though (with...exceptions).

    12. Since I mentioned the two, I can't really go without saying that their respective magnum opuses are among my favourites: Al-Asfar (sometimes translated as the Four Journeys) and Kitab al-Shifa (The Book of Healing). Both are incredibly deep, dense and thoughtful works that expand the mind to far beyond. However, while I didn't mention him because he didn't exactly find any school of philosophy or anything of the sort, Morteza Motahhari has some of the greatest books and commentaries written on philosophy thus far (including a transcendent commentary on the Four Journeys, which is itself transcendent (it's even in the full title!)), and I have scarcely seen a more powerful intellect, a stronger pen or a more open mind in the world of scholars and philosophers. He's more complete than most as a human being, and it shows fully in his works.

    13. Neither is definitively more important than the other. Some situations call for emotions, some call for rationale, and some call for both in varying amounts. As human beings, we have the capacity for profound emotion and profound logic, and for this very reason, I find it inadvisable at best and absolutely foolish at worst to abandon one or the other. To truly grow as a human being, one needs to have all of one's qualities grow to the same point, at the same rate. This was covered slightly in a previous question (not to admonish you for asking, because it's a great question! but just saying that parts of it I won't repeat because of that), but I forgot which question it was. In the end though, they must both coexist if we are to be ideal humans.

    14. If we go by a general definition, then extremities either way you go are not good and will only be a cause for misery. However, I think there's some misunderstandings going on where extremes are considered, one of these being how people tend to view moderation as being without any "extreme action" like...confronting things. Like waging war against something obviously harmful. It's assuming that the very act of confrontation and/or violence is itself extreme, but it's sometimes a necessity (an ugly and unbearable one it may be; see: Nazi Germany). Hiroshima, however? That was extreme. In general, extremities may solve things, they may even do good, but too often (basically all the time) they do much more harm than good, even if it's going extreme in something good.

    15. ALWAYS. The memes, however, don't always justify the ends unfortunately. =(

Kamal Tabrizi, Kiarostami, Makhmalbaf and Siroos Moghaddam are also pretty great in their own rights, though not always comedy directors. Sometimes Soroush Sehhat and Rambod Javan can also make some great things with biting social commentary while being extremely witty, but sometimes they fall so flat you wonder why.

my favorite recent performance for when u have the time

    61. Would you rather live your life over again, live a different life, or live normally?
    62. In a fight, would you choose an axe, a sword, or a spear?
    63. What kind of things do you write?
    64. What do you think of this
    65. What's your favorite genre of literature?
    66. Do you enjoy drama?
    67. What is your ideal job?
    68. What's your opinion on onions?
    69. Do you have a favorite sushi?
    70. Where do you see yourself at 70 years old?

First: that performance is BEAUTIFUL. He's so graceful, he's practically floating all over the stage...and everything he does is so perfect...God bless the Yuzuru Hanyu. Love his shirt and gloves too.

    61. Live normally. As much as there are things I regret and things I wish would be different in some ways, I don't think I'd want to change any of them because it will likely change me and my life (which I'm fairly attached to) fundamentally. Very cliché answer, I know, but it's the truth.
    62. Sword, always. Maybe a naginata if I'm feeling it. But definitely sword. A big, two-handed one too.
    63. It's either little articles/reviews on things I've played/watched/read (mostly played, so mostly video games; there's a Castlevania retrospective I'm writing which will be done sometime in the future, look out for it!), or writing down story/game ideas. I have one game idea in particular that I've been working on for years on end now, and I'm quite fond of it myself. There's a lot of me in it, if that makes sense, but there's a lot of everything else too, and I sincerely hope to actually make it into a game and give it out someday. Look forward to it!
    64. That's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I wish all skating would be like that.
    65. Horror and mystery are probably the biggest ones, but I also love gothic and romantic fiction, and epic novels like Les Misérables are excellent as well.
    66. Definitely! Drama is one of the cornerstones of the media and of fiction, and there would not be much of interest without it as the foundation upon which most other things are built.
    67. Something I'd enjoy doing, but that's a bit too broad. I guess having a job that wouldn't interfere with my personal life too much is ideal for me. I like manual labour and arts and crafts, so either doing something like construction work, farming or crafting things at home, or maybe even writing and stuff, that'd be ideal for me.
    68. I love onions! Raw, grilled, fried or caramelised, they're a joy to behold. Just have to know the when, where and the amount though, as with everything else. I've had dishes that don't typically contain fried onions, and they had them for some God forsaken reason. It's not exactly bad, but adding the same things to every single dish will make them all taste much too similar when it comes to certain ingredients. Fried onions are one of those. At any rate, onions are great.
    69. I have unfortunately not been able to enjoy a wide variety of sushi, but from the things I've had, I think I like ebi the most. Raw, of course. One day I will eat many more sushis and get back to you with this question.
    70. Hah, question 70. I see what you did. But uhh...hopefully not a useless idiot old man. I hope I can be a badass grandpa, but that might be asking for too much. I see myself living peacefully and happily, without much hassle, so hopefully that'll turn out true!

    49. Unfortunately no, but I very definitely would if I could! I don't know if we even have ice skating rinks here...probably not. Looks like a very me sport though.

    4. help im stuck in exam hell. survival tips?
    5. what would you do if you haven't talked to someone in a really long time but you really want to speak to them but you don't know how they'd react to you suddenly popping in like "hey, what's good" and you happen to overthink everything... uh... hypothetically

hi mei I also appreciate you very much

    1. I've been doing pretty swell! How about you?
    2. Hmm, that's a toughie. Cheesecake is pretty great, although lately I haven't really been able to eat any...there's this kind of chocolate mirror cake I like a lot, but lately the pastry shop I get it from hasn't been doing it as well as it used to...but there's also marzipan cake! No one will ruin that for me. ;~; I also love chiffon cake and strawberry shortcake and a bunch of others.
    3. SMOKED SALMON SANDWICH yesssss (it's smoked salmon, cream cheese, onions, and lettuce drenched in vinegar and olive oil in). It's perfectttttttt. Too bad it's really expensive though.
    4. CSmABr.jpg

    5. I'd do it anyway and if the reception isn't as warm as I'd ideally want, I'd totally call them an asshole in my head and stop talking to them for months on end. =)

    55. What is something you wish the whole world knew?
    56. Favorite vegetable?
    57. If Mars became inhabitable and you had the chance to live there, would you go?
    58. What's your favorite planet? (Inside or outside the solar system)
    59. Are you a morning person?
    60. What is your favorite piece by Debussy and Rachmaninoff?

    52. THAT'S HARD. Probably cherries, mangos, strawberries, mangosteen, persimmons...oh yes and melons and watermelons!
    53. They're all great! Each one of them has their own place throughout the day, so I can't really say I prefer one to the other. If I've had a salty/savoury meal, I'd want to have a sweet dish a few hours later, and again a salty/savoury one when I get hungry again, and so on and so forth. And every other flavour has its place too. They're all beautiful.
    54. I play video games, talk to people on the internet, read manga, watch things maybe and generally that sort of stuff. Sometimes I write things, but not too often.
    55. The truth. But I'm sure there will come a time when that will happen, and it will be a great winnowing rod.
    56. Potatoes are amazing, and so is corn, but I really love broccoli, mushroom and carrots too...and eggplants prepared the right way are incredible. Lettuce and cabbages are also so very good! There are too many good vegetables in this world, but if there's a number one for me, these are the contenders for that spot.
    57. I don't think I'd live there per se, because I'm way too attached to Earth, but I'd definitely go for a visit. Who knows, maybe I'll like it enough to stay.
    58. Jupiter is frightening, but I think I really love Neptune's deep blue colour and violent winds. They're all so cool in their own ways though...but I think this:

...gives me a slight bias for Jupiter. So good...
    59. I could be if I try! But as you can probably see, I tend to not really be up in the mornings. In fact, I sleep right as the sun is about to rise...

    vr5MY4.jpg

    60. For Rachmaninoff, it's probably either Piano Concerto No. 3 or Étude-Tableau No. 5 in E-flat minor. Debussy is a bit harder. Danse sacrée et danse profane is pretty great, but I also love Suite bergamasque a lot. They both have a lot more to their names though so I feel a little unfair just choosing these...but there you go!

    6. Hmmm, I'd say it's a 6 or 6.5. 7 if I push it.
    7. Yes! Children are great. I am actually disturbed when people say they hate children or when they treat children badly.
    8. TOTALLY, especially if I'm getting a return trip too. It's kinda scary though...
    9. It can be pretty useful and could add some character, so why not?
    10. Yeah...yeah, actually...one of my cousins is like that. I've never had to deal with that side, though.
    11. a. Monster Hunter Tri, definitely. The beautiful tranquillity of Moga Village, or the hustle and bustle of the glorious desert city of Loc Lac...an exciting, lively life of hunting and living off the land, there's nothing more I could ask for!
    b. Yu Yu Hakusho or Hunter × Hunter. Maybe it's just the atmosphere, but they both seem like great worlds to be in. Lots of possibilities and opportunities for self-improvement, oh yes.
    12. Probably the answers I type out for this thread, to be honest. I don't really have long essays on record though, most of my school essays were about 3-5 pages at most. Maybe that'll change in the future, who knows!
    13. While I'm not sure if it should be 100% free or not, I'm definitely of the opinion that it should not cripple potential students economically. If they're going to charge for it, do the bare minimum and provide all the necessities for free (e.g. books and etc.). In fact, I don't think it'd be a bad idea to pay students for studying, even.
    14. Very. I'd hope they covered their mouth/nose when they sneeze though, because dude that's gross if they didn't.

    13. Favorite classical composer?
    14. Do you prefer open-world or linear games more?
    15. What's your favorite Pokemon and why?
    16. What's your least favorite Pokemon and why?
    17. What question do you want to be asked?
    18. What is your opinion on kpop.
    19. Do you utaite? If so who's your favorite?
    20. Watercolor, oil, or acrylic?

    th-thx u 2

    11. Somewhere around Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas or Arthur Conan Doyle.
    12. I used to play the flute. Now I only play the instrument of life. But I do wanna take up the piano and re-take the flute.
    13. Gee, it's a toss-up between Debussy, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and Wagner. Leaning most towards Debussy and Wagner...they were quite transcendent.
    14. It really depends on how it's executed. Most "open world" games are fairly open, but they don't allow for actually interesting interaction (or any at all most of the time!) with the world and whatever inhabits it, be it people or creatures. It then turns into a really huge, really long slog to get to the end of the game with nothing interesting to do. Anything that has novelty will wear off in a couple hours at most. I've heard Breath of the Wild successfully avoids this massive pitfall, so that's great! So in practice, I guess I prefer linear, but in theory, both are super viable and I don't think I would prefer one over the other in general.
    15. Probably Onix, MewTwo, Wailord or Tyrantrum. Onix just looks and sounds like it's mega cool, and MewTwo's movie made me a huge fan. I was attracted to this tragic, weird-looking creature with incredible powers, and the scene where he slaughters all the scientists that created him was especially attractive to me as a child...I swear I'm not a psychopath! I love whales and T. rexes, so the latter two are probably self-explanatory. There's a bunch of others I like a lot too, but it'd take too long to list them all.
    16. I don't think I have a least favourite, sorry. =(
    17. Nothing in particular. Ask anything!
    18. I'm pretty OK with kpop. There's been songs I've enjoyed and things I've learned about it and the people involved in it that were pretty interesting. I haven't really been able to get really into it like you guys though. =( I don't really have strong feelings one way or another though.
    19. R-regrettably, I do not know any utaite. =( I am interested in learning though. =)
    20. They all have their own way of being beautiful. Watercolour is so ethereal and understated, oil is so earthy and natural, and acrylic is so bold and vivid. Overall I might prefer oil, but they all have their redeeming values.

    25. Would you ever keep a pet jellyfish?
    26. Vanilla, chocolate or strawberry?
    27. Favorite dessert?
    28. Do you prefer really cold or really hot weather more?
    29. Do you follow politics?
    30. What music genre do you like most?

    21. Unfortunately they don't air most non-soccer sports here. =( I'd totally do it if I could though! It's basically like ballet except you're sliding all over the place.
    22. SHE DEFINITELY DID. She and Asada and Kostner were waaaaay better than Sotnikova. They actually had grace and finesse and their performances weren't just full of nothing. Kim Yuna's was especially captivating, by far the best one. And she had the best dress too.
    23. ANDROMEDA. It's so grand, bright and beautiful. I feel a huge power surging from it whenever I look...
    24. There's a lot of really neat and interesting things in there, and a lot of batshit insane things too. That's basically how a lot of mythology is...everyone acts like a remorseless sociopath. But sometimes cool things happen because of that! The one thing Greek (and to a lesser extent, Norse) loses out on in comparison to others is how ubiquitous and overrepresented it is in media, and usually these are really bad and dumb interpretations of the source material. But there's actually a lot that's super great and can be used in a much better way. I like Typhon, Prometheus and Hercules in particular, and the stories surrounding them.
    25. If I had a large enough space for it, totally! Aquatic creatures make good pets because they won't make anything dirty. That and jellyfish would just be really cool to have around, especially if you get a glowy one. Or you could have a moat around the house full of box jellyfish. Not only will it look cool, it will also keep out any burglars or intruders.
    26. If it's not artificial, I have kind of a strawberry bias, but a good vanilla is really good too. Poor chocolate is left out here since I don't like how chocolate flavours are usually, but I'd love them if they're much more rich and chocolate-y. Dark chocolate flavoured things usually seem to do the trick as far as that goes. But yes, strawberry and vanilla.
    27. I can't really choose. ;__; There are some marzipan cakes that are just to die for, but a good pie is amazing too, and ice cream is incredible, and that's not even going into puddings and chocolate mousse and all...can I just say every dessert?
    28. I'm fine with both, but I'm a man of the desert, so I have a slight preference for really hot.
    29. More or less for my own homeland and international politics to a lesser degree. It's not that much of a priority for me, though.
    30. I don't think there's any one genre I like the most (seeing a pattern here?) because every genre has its own time and place, and they all have their great points and redeeming values, so I appreciate most of them! I might have a slight bias for classic rock/metal because I spent a good chunk of my life obsessed with those, so bands like Queen, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, etc. but I really do love every other genre a lot. If I had to go with my most listened things, it'd be classical/orchestral, techno, electronica, rock/metal, folk, and probably others, in no particular order.

    35. Do you bake?

    31. I don't rly have a preference, give 'em to me however way you want.
    32. Definitely poker. There's still an element of luck, but I like how a player's skill can decide the game, even if they get bad luck. I have a feeling I'd love Hanafuda a lot though, but I've never played it. Tarot card games also look fairly interesting.
    33. Oh gosh...I-I don't know what to say...there's the soundtracks for Darius games, each having its own depth and flavour, Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu which paint a vivid world with each song, Final Fantasy VI/VII which tugs at my heart strings and threatens to make me cry...video game soundtracks are just too good. There's lots more, but all the ones I named are huge contenders for first place!
    34. Black, red and white is super good! Replace red with pretty much any other colour and it's still great. I love matching black with other things, to be honest. That's all that comes to mind right now, but I'm fairly certain my colour wheel is bigger than that.
    35. I don't bake regularly, but if the question is that I bake at all, YES. I love baking. I should really do it more though. The smell of baked goods wafting through the house is kind of unbeatable.

    8. What foods do you want to try the most?

    9. Why are triceratops better than t-rexs?

    10. What's your aesthetic?

    6. Simon Belmont, Zelgius, Miles Edgeworth. I'm not 100% sure here but those are the ones that came to mind first...I don't think about myself that much, so sorry if this isn't good enough. =( What do YOU think though?!

    7. Yang Wenli. He's so smart and has a lot of really strong morals, always accomplishing his duty no matter what. Give or take a Lina Inverse, Zangetsu the Midday, Ahiru, Jiji, Char, Poppo and...lots more! Lina is probably the toppest of the rest though (besides Yang), she definitely is the thing that makes her series work so well. And there's a lot of other Legend of the Galactic Heroes characters I like a lot, but that series has like 1000000000000000 characters so listing them all may seem a little...something. But as is usual, I don't think I can put any one character definitely above another out of the ones I like a lot, so this is more of a loose ranking than anything.

    8. I really wanna try out a lot of Japanese and Chinese foods since it's hard to get a hold of them around here. ;__; Like SHIN soba, udon, mochi, mapo tofu...that sort of thing! There's some other stuff I'd like to try too, like kitfo, kobe beef, a bunch of Central/South American things, and oh man so many Vietnamese dishes like pho and bun bo hue and basically everything else. I just love food so I want to try out everything ever.

    9. WHO EVEN SAID THEY WERE T. REX EAT TINY BABY TRICERATOPS LIKE MARSHMALLOW PICKINGS

    10. Something like this and this and this and this and this and a bunch of other things! These are the ones that first came to mind though, and I think you can see the shared themes between them. Regal, sophisticated, elegant, great use of colours and body language to build mood, and a lot of motifs and fashion and etc. that I really like...it's really amazing. Incidentally, these are also by two of the artists I told you about, Tomomi Kobayashi (first three) and Ayami Kojima (the latter two) respectively.

    9. what superpower would benefit humanity the most while not being too dangerous?

    10. if the world had an APOCALYPSE do u think you could handle all the canned foods and rations

    6. CANNED FOODS can be pretty okay! But they will, unfortunately, never beat fresh ingredients unless they're a sort of thing that isn't going to be "fresh" anyway like preserved things.

    7. DRACULA'S CASTLE, or a muscle resort. Either way would be great! I might make it a video game utopia too, but that might be too nerdy and off-putting because it's been kind of a THING to do that sort of thing and sometimes it grosses me out when other people do it so idk. It probably all depends on the execution though, so maybe...

    8. I think if someone has committed things horrible enough, then it's a totally fine concept. I don't think, however, that if a person lied once or did some other bad thing one time in their life however many years ago, that they'll be damned for all eternity. It's a very complex concept and, much like a lot of other religious concepts and ideas, it's over-simplified by adherents and detractors alike. The answers to it may well be within our grasp until after we find out the truth behind the matter after we die or after the Last Day.

    9. The power to incur maximum concentration/focus on the task at hand, but only for as long as the body/brain/mind can take it, which means not for very long. Although it could lead to a lot of dangerous things (new and deadlier weapons/superweapons and etc.), it will also lead to rapid advancement and the ability to counter whatever dangerous things it can potentially breed.

    10. I've lived on such a simple diet for several months on end that would make any other person cry. I'm sure canned foods and rations won't be able to deter me, especially if they're the only viable choice. But I would also go to the LORD's path if there was an apocalypse, and He would reward me much.

    39. M-maybe, if someone I'm very comfortable with is with me. It sounds exhilarating, but also terrifying. I'd maybe be more inclined to do the one like that one guy did from a balloon 10km into the atmosphere.
    40. RED ROSE. It's maybe boring, but it's a classic. So elegant and beautiful, and that rich red colour...

First and current impressions of me?

What are your favourite games/game series from Taito?

What are your favourite games/game series from Konami not counting the Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill series?

Are there any things you find so bad they're good? (eg: CD-I Zelda) If so, what are some of those things?

Are there any question types/topics in particular you hope to be asked about for your interview?

    First: Verily, a person.
Current: A little awkward and oblivious, but not a bad guy. Don't know you that well though, so sorry if it's not thorough.

I mentioned probably my all-time favourite from Taito in the previous post (Darius), so I guess I'll say that my favourite Darius titles are the first one, Darius II, Darius Gaiden and G-Darius. The latter two are perfection itself, and the former two are really cool in some ways. Otherwise, I love Bubble Bobble (Bubble Symphony might be my favourite), Puzzle Bobble, Elevator Action Returns (incredible game), Night Striker, the Rastan Saga games, Ninja Warriors, KiKi KaiKai, Ray series (e.g. RayForce, etc.), Metal Black (divine), and Cleopatra Fortune, among many others.

You're fine because I haven't actually played Silent Hill yet (I really should...) and am not that fond of Metal Gear in the first place (though MGS1 holds a very special place in my heart). Besides Castlevania and Gradius (which includes the Salamander spin-offs, natch), which I mentioned in the aforementioned post, I really love Ganbare Goemon (the Super Famicom titles are especially amazing), Contra (Hard Corps is the best), Suikoden, Parodius (honestly, deserved a spot in my top 10 list), Thunder Cross, Xexex, Sunset Riders, Mystic Warriors, Metamorphic Force, Azure Dreams, Rocket Knight Adventures, Konami Wai Wai World, TwinBee, Snatcher, Space Manbow...and so much more. I'd be here all day if I went on.

Nothing in particular comes to mind right now. I'm usually not that much into the idea in the first place, but I'm sure there are a few I can't remember at the moment.

    Not really anything in particular.

    NIGHTMARE??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    KENSHIRO VS GOKU WHO WINS?

Which is more disappointing, Souten no Ken or Steel Ball Run?

Have you ever seen Commander Breetai punk three ace pilots in their mecha with nothing but a lead pipe?

    Impressions?

    SIR CHARLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Kenshiro would know Saiyan anatomy enough to hit Goku's pressure points, but he does know Muso Tensei. I'm not sure if Goku will be able to hit him during that, but I feel like he'll figure it out after a bit. By that point however, Kenshiro might also figure out Goku's pressure points. It's a tough call, but Kenshiro might edge out Goku a bit.

Gosh, that's a really tough one. Souten no Ken took a concept that worked best in a post-apocalyptic setting and ruined it by chaining it to a contemporary setting that had little else of interest, and Steel Ball Run is...well, Steel Ball Run. I'd probably go for Steel Ball Run if only for how slow, uninteresting and convoluted it gets, and it also has an edge over Souten no Ken in badness in the art style. While Souten no Ken is inferior to Hokuto no Ken in art (IMO), Steel Ball Run is just garbage compared to previous JoJos. Everyone became an expressionless, lanky super model, anatomy took a massive hit and sometimes made no sense at all and there's rarely ever anything that looks interesting and expressive (whether through facial expressions or body language) like in parts 1 through 4, and his panelwork took a hit too. While JoJo was very easy to follow before, it became progressively more and more muddled, and that's not even going into how boring and unengaging the characters and story are. I think if I managed to talk so much about how bad it is, then SBR takes the cake by far.

Unfortunately no, but I do have it downloaded! I will one day soon see Commander Breetai punk three ace pilots and tell you of my thoughts.

First: Why does he not like Tellius? That's lame. (circa 2008)
Current: Forget about Tellius, this guy is aces. Level-headed, respectful, reasonable, an independent thinker, loyal, and with great taste to boot. Also has the capacity to be a great conversational partner.

    1. omg hi sylv I'm gr8 hbu xDDDDDDDD
    2.  ILOVE JELLYFISH they are amazing creatures especially the lion's mane jellyfish which is like one of the largest creatures and the deepstaria which is like all kinds of whoa. They're fascinating creatures in general, with the way they work and their stingers and everything. And they're one of the few sea creatures who will greatly benefit from global warming. There's also the Japanese shrimp jellyfish, and then all the pretty glowy ones...and of course, the king of all jellyfish. These probably don't count, but honourable mention to them. Not actually a jellyfish, but honourable mention to the Portuguese man o' war. They're so cool.
    3. Probably my homeland's, but otherwise I'm mostly interested in the histories I'm not very well acquainted with, such as most African countries that aren't Egypt, Central and South America and Central Asia. I really like the histories of China, Japan, India and Arabia, otherwise. The Middle East as a whole is probably my favourite.
    4. I think this world is already ideal for me, in terms of the base requirements. I would just like people to be more understanding, tolerant and kind to each other. I'd like them to be less biased and more knowledgeable, more respectful and dignified, to know the limits of what's good and bad, and to think more before talking and rejecting and having kneejerk reactions. Safety guaranteed everywhere you go because no one is terrible any more. Something like that, probably, is my ideal world.
    5. First: wth who is this new person in the chat lmao I think I've seen her before
Current: Cool, very nonchalant. Nice sense of humour. A little too secretive. Gotta open your heart duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude(tte).
    6. Suits, overcoats, capes, complete with all the pizazz...that sorta thing.
    7. I once painted in the international book fair. I painted a fiery skull in the depths of hell while all the other kids were painting nice scenery. We gave it to the people there so it would be displayed. I don't know what happened to it afterwards. I'd love to paint more and I probably will, especially since I marathoned The Joy of Painting. Ah, Bob Ross...
    8. In terms of looks and stuff, it's probably Ciel. Guy knows how to dress. He has a pretty cool personality and voice too. I don't like the paedophilic undertones with him and Lu though...
    9. I do! I haven't played most of the series, but my favourite is either Ocarina or Majora. That'll probably change once I continue my marathon of the series (I've finished Zelda 1, but stopped after I got to Zelda II; I have a suspicion I will enjoy the Game Boy games the most).
    10. Gawrsh, choosing a favourite from so many good things (read: everything) is hard. I really like lasagne, though, but it's a specific type of cooking that does it for me. Not just any lasagne!

    3. There's a lot...I mentioned lasagne above, but I saved the rest for here! I love fesenjan, sushi, butter chicken, Peking duck, burgers, tomato soup with grilled cheese, shark fin soup, fried trout, caviar, a nice lobster, steak, shawarma, falafel...the list goes on!

    4. A man must be virtuous and challenge himself to grow, but one cannot grow and self-improve without understanding first, so an attempt to understand must first be made. And growth must be controlled and balanced; if growth of character is imbalanced, it is akin to having a body part far larger than the others. This will obviously trouble the person in question, perhaps make it impossible to live well, or at all. Thus, by understanding and controlling (but not suppressing) oneself, healthy and balanced growth becomes possible, and one cannot grow without improving the self over time. But for all this to happen, the proper conditions must be met, and one must have the proper tools as well. What those are is up to every man to find out for himself. HOWEVER!!! This poem is really very good and related to the question, but translating it will take time. =( Look forward to it!!!

By that scale, I can go about as far as hot or too hot before it becomes more painful than pleasurable.

What are some of your most unfavourite foods?

How good were you at Circus Charlie? I always got stuck at the trampolines and ropes (stage 5)

What inspired you to make your username Nightmare?

What are some of your favourite video game companies?

What TV shows did you grow up with as a kid?

What are some of your pet peeves?

    Nothing really.

Pretty good. I managed to beat the game, in fact, and get to the second loop.

I had a self-insert called Nightmare. It stuck with me for the rest of my life.

I really love a lot of the big name companies, but mostly for their work in the past. Konami is maybe my favourite of them for being veritably huge and having an incredible output of games (especially during the mid-eighties till the entire 90s, my favourite period for them). Capcom in similar periods is also a big favourite, but I'm not as familiar with them. 80s to 90s Namco is also huge, I really love their arcade games from the time especially. Taito was one of the four devas of the arcades (alongside the aforementioned three) and I super appreciate them for their quality work there. Squaresoft made some really amazing things, especially in the entire 90s (especially especially late PSX output Square is like...WOW). Irem is an amazing company; despite its comparatively smaller lineup, they managed to make a lot of them into quality titles. SNK made some of the greatest fighting games ever that are still unmatched. Koei's earlier, historical and strategy-focused works (mostly or exclusively done by Kou Shibusawa, a huge history buff himself) were amazing in their own right. Sega was a juggernaut of innovation and made a lot of incredible games. And Nintendo, well...we all know what they've done for the industry and how great they were and are. There's a lot more I appreciate, but I'd be going on for a while if I don't stop now.

The original TMNT, Thundercats, Transformers, Batman: The Animated Series, Bionic Six, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, etc. etc.

I'm not fond of kneejerk reactions, or people who don't reply. There are probably some more, but I don't feel strongly about those either.

    Current: YOU ARE NUMBER VON
    IRAN NUMBER VON
    USA
    HAAAAAACK PTOOEY

    2. That's a toughie! I'd say, in no particular order...

    Spoiler

    1. Castlevania: You all guessed it. There's a lot of impeccable design, gorgeous graphics, incredible music and much more going on in this series. What's not to like?

    2. Gradius: The king of all shooting games. The one responsible for the SHMUP boom of the late 80s to the early 90s. With simple but deep mechanics, creative stages and excellent music, it's no wonder Gradius took the world by storm. Or at least, Japan.

    3. SaGa: One of the most inventive and creative series out there. Goes a bit minimalist on the story side, but delivers wholesale in every other side. Complex and deep mechanics, amazing battle systems, transcendent soundtracks, great graphics and character art, and despite its minimalism, really immersive and thought-provoking stories, always hinting at a larger and more thoughtfully designed world/characters. Support the series by buying Romancing SaGa 2 on smartphones, and be on the look out for Romancing SaGa 3's enhanced smartphone port coming soon!

    4. R-Type: Irem's flagship shmup is the grand daddy of memorizers, methodical games where the pattern of stages/enemies is key to mastering the game and winning. With a magnificent mechanic and incredible, visceral alien and body horror themes alongside its impeccable design, R-Type blasted its own way through to a dedicated audience despite Gradius' huge gravity, and reached its zenith with R-Type Delta.

    5. Dragon Quest: Hailed as the king of comfort food video games (at least in Japan), Dragon Quest may not often make radical changes between each installment, but it does make for a consistently different and quality experience that, despite being thought of as being "traditional to a fault" actually avoids a lot of cliches and pitfalls that plague the rest of the genre.

    6. Darius: Where Gradius had the simplicity and depth of strategy and R-Type had the methodical design, Taito opted to make their (not yet) flagship shmup series be more about creating worlds to immerse the player in. Gigantic, three screened arcade cabinet, headphone jacks, vibrating seats, charistmatic bosses based on aquatic creatures...it was a one of a kind game not only back then, but even now nothing has been able to come close or surpass that level of ingenuity (except for Taito's own Metal Black, but that's not a series...) and its sequels brought about a lot of different worlds that were still unmistakeably Darius, and all of them perfect in their own way. The greatest contributor to all of this was probably Hisayoshi Ogura (aka OGR) who crafted Darius' meticulous scores which lent their respective games 90% of the atmosphere and weight they have.

    7. Final Fantasy: Maybe you knew this was coming, maybe you didn't. I don't think I need to say much about this series (even though parts of it are really badly misrepresented by its fans and detractors alike). Great stories, great characters, amazing music, simple but effective and enjoyable mechanics...the secret to this series is that every Final Fantasy game is good. Except maybe II.

    8. Mana: Excellent action RPGs with gorgeous environments and vivid, three dimensional music that penetrates straight to your heart (at least for the SFC ones). On the mechanics side they can be a little all over, but it doesn't stop them from being massively fun.

    9. Sonic the Hedgehog: Another that kind of speaks for itself. Loose, innovative, alternative, beautiful, funky and stylish. Sonic swept the video game market off its feet and it's no surprise when you think about it.

    10. Ghosts 'n Goblins: Or MAKAIMURA as they call it in glorious Japan. Really creative environments and great atmospheric music to go with it! And I guess it's kinda hard too. It also gave birth to the spin-off series which starred Firebrand, everyone's favourite demon, and which eventually led to one of mankind's greatest triumphs, Demon's Crest.

By no means a final list. 10 isn't nearly enough to contain all the series I love. Also I may have gotten lazy with describing some of them whoops. But there you go!

    3. Deep frying is pretty fun, but grilling is also great. I think I like doing stews and pasta the best though. I can't really name a particular dish, but those are all the general ones! I love cooking in general so I don't really discriminate.

    4. Yoshitaka Amano, Ayami Kojima, Tomomi Kobayashi and Kazuma Kaneko are super high up there. I love all of their artses, Amano for his ethereal brush strokes, Kojima for the immortal and dark beauty of her creations, Kobayashi for the regal, dignified and beautiful designs, and Kaneko for...well, everything he does. There's also this person named 子猫 and that one is my top favourite artist, but they're pretty obscure so you probably don't know them.

    5. This one! It's really great and funny, but you'd need to know a fair amount of Iranian/Islamic culture to get it.

We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him.

Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these idols, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?"

They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them."

He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers."

They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?"

He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth).

"And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs"..

So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might return (and address themselves) to it.

They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!"

They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham."

They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness."

They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?"

He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!"

So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!"

Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!"

(Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm?

"Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?"..

    yes true
