I would only take chance with RNG in the first few turns. 30% chance to reset your 30min-1hr progress is not worth taking.

Could Forrest be a transgender lesbian?
darkestdarkness replied to Sky Knight Subaki's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
isn't it made fairly clear that forrest is a guy? -
couple comments: don't bother with kana or dwyer, they're not worth one of the 16 slots. dwyer's paralogue is much easier than it looks, especially on CQ as they don't have conquest AI. felicia x leo is very good, and sniper mozu is just as good in hard mode as she is in normal, good luck with rest of the run.

pairing opinions Also keep in mind if you have a female MU and marry 1st gen non-corrinsexual, you will have 1 unmarried female at the end. I usually leave selena as the bachelorette because she has poor modifiers in general. Edit: actually, is your standard of pairing mainly based on children or how well they perform together on the maps?

What captured units are worth having?
darkestdarkness replied to TheWerdna's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
Haitaka. -
I can make a +5 sunrise katana. I get one every day and literally every one of the birthday characters gave me a sunrise katana.

The Fates first gen are terrible parents
darkestdarkness replied to Alastor15243's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
I don't consider children canon, at least with the deeprealm bullshit. though admittedly this is nothing more than a headcanon on my part... I just think deeprealm is such a god awful concept it's making me ignore the canon. -
Special/hidden conversations in Fates

you mean 8. also add kaze vs saizo in CQ 12. oddly enough they don't have one later in CQ 25. -
Doubts about Hard/Classic Birthright
darkestdarkness replied to Hoshidokoala's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
difficulty drops off a lot after that chapter. you should be fine. -
How soon do you reclass Camilla to Wyvern Lord (if at all)?
darkestdarkness replied to ruadath's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
camilla is one of the few units that can make effective use of the bolt axe from the get-go so I always just leave her as malig knight. beruka makes a great wyvern lord anyways. -
(Thought/Debate) Are the "royals" really viable ?
darkestdarkness replied to Brand_Of_The_Exalt's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
Leo is above average as a unit but arguably worst of the royals even with a personal weapon. -
imagine if we had to start with subaki and hana instead of effie in conquest chapter 7. that would be a nightmare on hard or higher. conquest characters just feel underwhelming at first because it's a much harder route than birthright. this problem sort of extends to revelation, as most birthright units are available earlier than conquest units, and most conquest units start with pathetic bases.
-
in revelation postgame I made subaki a ballistician (had decent strength and skill but ended up with pathetic speed) and slapped wary fighter on him. he's actually pretty decent but needs that bow rank.

worth noting that camilla's internal level is 15 as opposed to 20 for promoted units. (except jakob and felicia who have 0) -

gameplay wise, hana came out much better than hinata in all of my playthroughs. hinata's growths are just so bad... 45% str and 35% spd growth as a swordmaster? get out of here. yes, I know he's supposed to be a "bulky" unit, but that doesn't help if most of growths are still subpar. 45% defense is respectable for a swordmaster, but still prone to getting RNG screwed. at least he has good HP growths unlike rinkah.
-
for a no heart seal run some of the units I would contemplate using are effie (general), benny (general), xander, niles (bow knight), kaze (master ninja), camilla, beruka (wyvern lord), and elise (strategist). arthur is a good pair up bot for effie. are you planning to do the endgame "legit"? I heard it's hell if you don't rescue cheese it.

I think BR lunatic is easier than CQ hard. that said, how big of a jump is it from CQ hard to lunatic in general? obviously it's going to be harder, but what's the most dominant difference between the two difficulties? number of enemies? buffed stats? enemy skills?
-
you can use DLC in conquest. I'm not against using it in conquest, but I would recommend not to go overboard. (e.g. promoted 20/1+ units before trying chapter 10)

Most annoying/brutal chapters in each route?
darkestdarkness replied to SatsumaFSoysoy's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
general with beast killer = dead foxes. if you neglected to train any of your defensive powerhouses... good luck. unless you reclass xander into a non beast class. keep healers as far as you can before engaging groups of enemies. having a singer is pointless since most of the combat in this chapter is done during enemy phase. I do think that conquest ch.19 is terribly designed, though. -
My thoughts on Birthright/Conquest so far
darkestdarkness replied to poptdp's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
I heard the CQ's story was bad before I started it, but for me that sadly turned out to be true. most of the time I thought I was stuck in some parallel universe where everyone decided they were in dumb and dumber: fire emblem edition, save for ch.26. sad thing is it had the most potential for an intriguing story and admittedly first few chapters were bordering interesting but any hope of CQ's story being at least half decent was shattered by end of ch.15. that said, CQ has the best gameplay imo. when I replay CQ I just mash start button to skip most story cutscenes. -
get odin out of dark mage as soon as possible. I reclassed him to dread fighter as soon as I recruited him and he basically cheesed first half of conquest hard, but swordmaster is pretty good provided you don't get str screwed.
