  1. Well, the display doesn't go over 100%. I imagine it doesn't help for multiple goals (like excess Reason to take a rank off Riding for Dark Knight).
  2. Source: https://bbs.nga.cn/read.php?tid=18719117 As translated into English: https://old.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/dbenbm/certification_exam_pass_rate_formula/ Chance = (100-a*b)+(Luck/2) Where a is 40 (Beginner, Intermediate, one skill Advanced), 32 (two skills Advanced) or 20 (Master), and b is the number of weapon ranks you are short of the ones on the paper. a=40 Chances: 1 Rank: 60% 2 Ranks: 20% (needs 20 Luck to be permitted to attempt) a=32 Chances: 1 Rank: 68% 2 Ranks: 36% 3 Ranks: 4% (needs 52 Luck to be permitted to attempt) a=20 Chances: 1 Rank: 80% 2 Ranks: 60% 3 Ranks: 40% 4 Ranks: 20% (needs 20 Luck to be permitted to attempt)
  3. I think the biggest loser in the Black/Dark Magic split is Edelgard- the only character to learn both Black and Dark Magic. This is at least partially because I tried Mortal Savant as her magic class, but Edelgard only gets Dark Magic Range +1, so she only gets that boost to the 2-use Luna and Hades while Fire and Bolganone are stuck where they are.
  4. Renown is retained from playthrough to playthrough, with a sizable lump added per playthrough. I'll confess to not knowing how big that lump is, but I do recall hearing it got bigger after the patch.
  5. If you're talking about Supports between characters, you can't get those with Renown. If you leave them half-finished, you're going to have to grind them up again to finish them next time. If you're doing church route after Black Eagles, Support purchasing will be of limited use. If you're at Chapter 18, you might just be out of opportunities to claim Supports anyway. Asking to recruit them will be an automatic success. Lorenz and Ashe require you have recruited them pre-timeskip, Seteth is pre-timeskip, and Gilbert is first thing post-timeskip. I'm not sure how much they count.
  6. I've also run the numbers on this. If you keep building past B Support to reach B+ Support, anyone who wants Sword/Brawl/Authority should be free, according to the math (I'm wary of the game adding a loophole), and anyone who wants something other than Faith only needs two Activity points worth of Faculty Training to be recruited. Annette and Lysithea are tricky, but if you've been using Choir to raise Support, you've got a start on your Faith levels. (The stat levels are tiny compared to Byleth's bases- at C+ Support, the only characters who may turn you down for insufficient stats are those looking for Charm, since the Charm thresholds are so high, Felix, if you're somehow so speed screwed you haven't gained a single point, and Mercedes/Lysithea, who need 3 Magic growth procs. By B Support, it's just the Charm students left.)
  7. It's a guaranteed recruit at the professor's leisure, rather than an RNG recruit. Depending on what you did on a weekend, resetting for it can take some time and redoing all that week's Instruction. Having control over when you recruit is useful if you want to wait until the student promotes to Intermediate classes for the growths, or you want to get them as soon as possible to make sure you can get all their cross-house Supports or instruction benchmarks in time.
  8. Recruitment is easier because of one or more of the following factors: You have a higher Professor level than the game expects, and you may gain Support, do Faculty Training and roll for the Charm from Tea Time more frequently. You may purchase Supports directly rather than investing in re-raising them. You may purchase Weapon Ranks directly rather than investing in re-raising them. If you have upgraded Saint Statues sufficiently to get EXP faster, you can roll stat-ups more frequently.
  9. Radiant Dawn. On the lowest difficulty, whatever you may call it, Escape and "X Arrives" are Defeat Boss.
  10. It's a joke with homophones. The closest I can think of in the English language is "I don't know whether the weather will improve", but I'm sure there are better ones.
  11. Theory: One of the new classes Wave 4 will introduce will be a Sword/Brawling infantry unit available to women for Catherine and Judith. Judith's a Lord, and although we don't know her proficiencies or growths, her start as a sword unit may hinder her advancement, especially as a lategame unit.
  12. I did the same, but because that part of the map was just messy and I was struggling to finish Flayn in such a way that Lysithea and Ingrid could survive Alois and the nearby units the next turn.
  13. How would anyone figure out how to spare her naturally? Crimson Flower was my second route and I had no idea that it was even possible.
  14. I'm working on studying the Recruit thresholds to see what characters come out easiest, and I noticed that Dorothea, Felix and Ignatz have their thresholds negated- more accurately, reduced to less than what Byleth starts with- at B+ Rank using the rates given here on Serenes. (Also Caspar, but he's a special case.) Would I be right in guessing the game just ignores that and lets you get away with it?
  15. I'm starting another run (Crimson Flower 2) for story research, and decided to rewatch the Bernie B Support when it came up anyway. The line that follows the changed line is "I tried hard to do as he asked. Honestly, I did". The changed line doesn't hint at Varley asking anything of Bernie, which is honestly a bit of a jarring mismatch I didn't think of when looking at the line in isolation.
  16. You do, however, get the Gambit Boost cut-ins with the pegasi you're using.
  17. I had a look at the Australian Classification Board for explanation. I don't know if it's me or them, the site didn't really make it easy to find information, so I don't have a ton, but I had a look. (Do note that, having finished my fifth playthrough of the game today after getting the game a week late and taking a few days break between every playthrough after the second, the timing for it being the Australian's fault baffles me as much as anyone.) The 2012 Guidelines for Computer Game Classification specify that an M-rated game (which Three Houses is) may have themes that fit the following: The entry on Three Houses in the database (the database is usually pretty weird and I'm not sure how it works, but regardless) further breaks down Three Houses rating by listing Themes and Violence as having Moderate Impact, Language, Nudity and Sex as Mild Impact, and not having an entry for Drug Use. (These six elements are what the Classification Board makes judgements upon.) Unfortunately, I do not believe the site has a report in greater detail, and I didn't notice anything about post-release modifications. The site's only 2019 reports are for Hellboy and Rocketman. The entry on Three Houses in the database I used lists a date of certification of 10th April 2019. By the FAQ:
  18. A common observation, complaint or otherwise, is that the maps of Three Houses are frequently recycled. My goal here is to attempt to compile all the maps and their appearances, because I don't believe I've ever seen this contextualised. Forest Near Remire: Prologue Outskirts of Garreg Mach: Chapter 1, Auxiliaries Brionne Plateau: Catherine/Ashe Paralogue, Auxiliaries Zanado: Chapter 2, Sothis Paralogue, Auxiliaries Magdred Way: Chapter 3, Auxiliaries Seiros's Tomb: Chapter 4 Conand Tower: Chapter 5, DLC Auxilaries Teleporters of Garreg Mach: Chapter 6 Gronder Field: Chapter 7, Chapter 17 (VW/AM), Auxilaries Remire Village: Chapter 8 Unused Chapel: Chapter 9, Auxiliaries Sealed Forest: Chapter 10, Caspar/Mercedes Paralogue, Hubert Paralogue, DLC Auxilaries Holy Tomb: Chapter 11, Rhea Paralogue Garreg Mach: Chapter 12, Chapter 14 (SS/VW/AM), Chapter 21 (SS), Chapter 15 (CF) Ruins of Garreg Mach: Chapter 13 (SS/AM/VW) Ailell, Valley of Torment: Chapter 15 (SS/VW/AM), Dorothea/Ingrid Paralogue, Auxiliaries Great Bridge of Myrddin: Chapter 16 (SS/VW/AM), Chapter 13 (CF) Fort Merceus: Chapter 17 (SS), Chapter 18 (VW), Chapter 20 (AM) Enbarr: Chapter 18 (SS), Chapter 19 (VW), Chapter 21 (AM) Edelgard's Throne Room: Chapter 19 (SS), Chapter 20 (VW), Chapter 22 (AM) Shambhala: Chapter 20 (SS), Chapter 21 (VW) Deirdru: Chapter 14 (CF), Chapter 19 (AM), Alois/Shamir Paralogue Arianrhod: Chapter 16 (CF), Dimitri Paralogue Tailtean Plains: Chapter 17 (CF), Auxiliaries Fhirdiad: Chapter 18 (CF/AM) Swamps of Vengeance: Chapter 22 (VW) Gloucester: Lorenz Paralogue, Raphael/Ignatz Paralogue, DLC Auxiliaries Cichol Beach: Seteth/Flayn Paralogue, Auxiliaries Untamed Forest: Bernadetta/Petra Paralogue, Marianne Paralogue, DLC Auxiliaries Fodlan's Throat: Edelgard Paralogue, Hilda/Cyril Paralogue, Auxiliaries Adrestian City: Ferdinand/Lysithea Paralogue, Auxiliaries Faerghus City: Sylvain Paralogue, Felix Paralogue, Annette/Gilbert Paralogue, Auxiliaries Mountainside: Dedue Paralogue, Hanneman/Manuela Paralogue, Auxiliaries Sreng Desert: Claude Paralogue, Auxiliaries Lake Teutates: Linhardt/Leonie Paralogue, DLC Auxiliaries Any information on maps I missed, in Auxiliaries or otherwise, is appreciated.
  19. My first run I wound up getting Dorothea, who I was steadily building up my rapport with. I don't remember when I learned Dorothea was a gay option, but she was working on staking her claim to my marriage pick by now. I did know about the gatekeeper trick at the time, I believe, but I had only heard it phrased as talking to "the guard", and since there was no guard in the vicinity of the Goddess Tower, I had no idea what they meant. The guard on the literal opposite side of Garreg Mach was the answer, apparently.
  20. The one I missed was Brigid's forest and Maurice's forest being the same map. Largely because the part of the map you spend the most time in in Maurice's mission is the part of the map you spend the least time in in Brigid.
  21. The map reuse is everywhere. It's going to get worse. Besides, part of what let the Romans expand so well is the cities they built were cookie-cutter, so a soldier stationed in one could learn the layout of any other should he need to change position.
  22. You have to stand in front of the Mittelfrank Opera Company on the Enbarr map in Silver Snow, Verdant Wind or Azure Moon. (Crimson Flower doesn't go there, I believe.) If you're not sure where that is, it's on the west edge, slightly north of the middle. There's a Fire Orb on the square you have to stand on, and in Azure Moon, unrecruited Dorothea starts using it. Once you've stood on that space with Dorothea or Manuela, they will say a line of dialogue. You will receive the battalion after the map has been completed.
  23. Leonie's B Support becomes available during Part 1, just not immediately.
  24. I'm honestly surprised "I'm a Pegasus Knight main" wasn't the reason for it, but all four of my runs included Ingrid. (The first run got her too late to get Luin, though.) Honourable mentions go to: Dorothea (I married her my first run and she looks like she'll always have a place in my heart, but I recruited minimal Black Eagles for my Blue Lions run. It hurt to kill her and that won't be a mistake I repeat) Bernadetta (She was the Black Eagle I recruited in Blue Lions, for more maternal reasons.) Lysithea (She also missed Blue Lions, which says more because the Black Eagles came default twice.) Catherine (She missed two runs, one of which was the All Girls, but it's a matter of time.) Leonie and Shamir also got three goes, but I'd attribute less of that to favouritism. Leonie was eventually benched from my first, Golden Deer run- I blame building her as a Paladin instead of a Sniper. To be fair, she asked to be one.
