  1. Personally I'm glad that at least one Elusian thinks "hey maybe worshipping something called the Fell Dragon isn't such a good idea". Framme give it a chance, but gives up after five hours because she doesn't like Joshua. One day she'll learn about Olivier and continue just for him. I prefer to watch live action media in their original language, but animation and games in English because you're not seeing an actual person speak either way. I was annoyed when I watched dubbed Godzilla movies when I was younger and the subtitles didn't match with what the characters were actually saying.
  2. Recommending Trails to someone be like Framme is not prepared for the time commitment. Sure, but gluing characters together can be counterintuitive to whatever your strategy for the chapter is. Now that I've unlocked them, it seems Tempest Trials give units experience... I don't know how much experience, but it's something. That's good to know, even if money is still a limiting factor. Piloting a Sentinel is less mentally draining than playing Fire Emblem. Chapter 11 completely filled my brain overload meter, so I had to take a break from Engage for the rest of the day. Earlier I spent ten minutes looking for loose change as Hijiyama, only to find that the change was right where I started all along.
  3. After three hours or so I finished Engage chapter 11. After all that I got... two new supports. How are you supposed to get those in this game again? My brain is tired so I hope everyone is having a nice day. Maybe I'll continue 13 Sentinels when my Switch recharges...
  4. I finished Engage Chapter 10, fun. I looked it up and actually, Mauvier and Kenny do have the same voice actor. Seadall doesn't have Albus's VA, but Saber from SoV does. On the topic, Chloé's VA is the current voice of Minnie Mouse. Geez, I don't think you even simped for Altina this much. Also on the subject, Timerra's VA also voiced Dahlia Hawthorne in the Ace Attorney anime. I'm not sure how I feel about that...
  5. Sure, but you can only do it three times after each battle so it isn't completely reliable (and you can't choose who fights who, so it isn't completely reliable for support grinding either). The other three countries are next in line, it's not even a certainty that Elusia or Solm will get a banner before the next CYL. And two of the Hounds are male, so they aren't banner worthy. Jean was left out too, so clearly only characters between their mid-teens and early twenties are allowed to marketed. I know I don't need to use every character, but I like making everyone useful. One of the villains in the wave 4 DLC will have Emblem Caeda, and she will do extra damage to units engaged with Marth. Speaking of, they should add Emblem Frederick so he and Framme can come up with "Alear wants you!" posters.
  6. Look on the bright side, it's a miracle that Engage has old playable characters in the first place. Fomortiis's battle theme: Veld and Nemesis were actually added a while ago, but Anankos is still missing for some reason.
  7. I finished Chapter 9, Jade got killed when a pegasus knight got two 7% critical hits in a row. What is life? I am perhaps irrationally concerned about not letting any character fall too far behind, since there doesn't seem to be a reliable way for weaker units to catch up or to support grind (debating whether or not skirmishes are "reliable"). I only have 19 characters so far so I'll see how well it works out... "Edelgard would set Sommie on fire and throw him at her enemies" -some people, probably. Sommie is immortal so he'd be alright afterwards. True! Not that I've looked since the game came out. I think the fanart hierarchy will be Ivy, Timmera, and probably Yunaka > Veyle > everyone else, give or take a few characters. So nobody you'd be interested in, except perhaps Sommie.
  8. I only have the time and motivation to play one chapter of Engage a day, so currently I just finished Chapter 8. It wasn't too bad... aside from Anna being killed by a 3% crit one time. Corrin also got her Final Smash in Engage. And technically Smash was introduced as an ability in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror...
  9. I can't believe King Hyacinth is a Lyn fanboy. Ivy and Hortensia will defect when they learn that she's 15 in the Japanese version. I heard that Second Seals can reset units back to level 1 once they reach max level, so there's no reason not to promote immediately if that's true. Now I'm wondering, what even are the Emblems? Are they ghosts? Are they copies of some kind? (The Emblems are basically cameos so I doubt those questions will be answered by the plot.) It's not like Edelgard can start a war while inside her bracelet, so there's no use getting worked up about it.
  10. I finished Juro's route, 13 Sentinels's explanation for why the kaiju are attacking is the funniest thing, and it simultaneously blew my mind. What is this, Metal Gear Solid 2? I'm starting Engage's Chapter 7 now, I hope Hortensia keeps the skill that reduces weapon effectiveness when she becomes playable. An understandable reaction. I tried giving Micaiah to Alear because I thought a lord with staff access would be useful... but Alear's magic is too low to make good use of her abilities. I'll keep Marth on her for now and experiment when I get more Emblems.
  11. Long Etie is loooooooong. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Though I'm not sure if it narrows my choices down... Eat your croissants, Apollo. Incidentally, the French version is also the only one to change anyone's names, as the other languages use the English names. For example, Jean Armstrong from Recipe for Turnabout is made Italian and named Luigi Labocca. Unfortunately only the first four games were translated into French, so we never found out. It seems that dragon royals have to stick together. I said this on another forum once, but I think the "melting pot" thing was just an excuse for Game Freak to do whatever they wanted. Why else would Unova have legendaries inspired by the Three Musketeers, Japanese gods, and yin-yang dragons? I would've liked a Mothman Pokémon, personally.
  12. 13 Sentinels (Takamiya's route) I can continue Juro's route now, so hopefully that means I can enter Area 3 in Destruction soon. What I mean is that since S-supports aren't listed on the support menu as in 3H, I don't know who F!Alear can be paired with (I assume every male character and a few female characters). I'll probably just wait until I get to the choice and see who I like most from the options available. Speaking of Three Houses, one thing I miss from that game is how non-main characters were present in cutscenes. From my experience the cutscenes in Engage just have Alear and one or two other characters, even if the other characters are presumably around, just offscreen.
  13. I just recruited Gremlin Anna. I tried to have her finish the boss, but she missed a 78% and got killed in retaliation. Fortunately Framme attacked first to shift the RNG, so Anna could properly land that 78% hit. I still don't know what my options are. None of the characters in particular are jumping out at me, so maybe I'll flag the solo Alear ending after all? She can be the cool aunt to her friends' kids. I can't believe Engage DLC discourse is just Xenoblade 3 DLC discourse. He was brought in as a special writing consultant, to commemorate the anniversary. Etie looks like she's cosplaying as Balthus. It seems like character keep their color palette when they promote, which is cool.
  14. You're probably right, but the devil is in the details. In my case, it's complicated because I want Veyle to be playable. Kira thought reseting was a good idea... until he remembered that he last saved twelve hours ago.
  15. When you're out of pulses but you still have to go back "Still don't get it, do you? You've been sent to this place because you've bit it, bub!" -Hortensia Are you saying the Judge has been secretly evil all along? Though on the topic of beards, in The Great Ace Attorney 2 I just finished Chapter 6, so I'm not sure if I should read this yet.
  16. Which Veyle theory will turn out to be correct? "Well, off to visit your mother!" -Monica What, you didn't like going halfway across the world to Fort Condor after every event flag? And it took me until the last part to figure out how to play it properly. Though FFVII and Engage both have squat exercise minigames, so make of that what you will.
  17. I'm so used to characters being randomly barefoot at this point in the series that I was actually surprised when Alear acknowledged Veyle's lack of shoes. Truly, it is the biggest plot twist up to this point. There's nothing wrong with wanting to buy Alear a nice pair of shoes for their birthday. Especially considering the shoes they normally wear... I can't believe the Trails series will be finished before Sooks finishes Engage. Don't worry, we'll try not to spoil the next nine games for you.
  18. I don't think my brain is working properly. Haha... (though I still used Sommie) Incidentally, I found out who Rubenio has been simping over for the past few days (because their VA tweeted about it). I'm not too surprised about it. I thought Pokémon did well on the basis of brand recognition. No, the main selling point is Rix- I mean, of course you're right. Sooks, how could you betray Timerra like this? Unless you just didn't recruit her yet. I wonder what I'll do when I unlock that mechanic... When Armagon says something not entirely negative about Persona 5
  19. Broke: Playing through Engage for the gameplay Woke: Playing through Engage to get more characters to chill in the Somniel So it's like Final Fantasy V? I can't wait for Alear to say "Sweet Christmas, it's a talking turtle!" Sell it? Nah, Framme will keep Alear's bathwater for herself, only true enthusiasts can appreciate it.
  20. I just like how long and flowy her hair is. Personally it's a change of pace, since I started with the male option in every previous game. I mean, I'm guessing that's basically just the tutorial. Only 13 Sentinels is allowed to have twists during the tutorial. I bet you'll be surprised when Sommie turns out to be the Grandmaster. He was not prepared for that situation. I think it gave him a mild existential crisis.
  21. Engage's intro was certainly... something. Even in another franchise, you cannot escape the haha... That aside, Alear is already a top-tier protagonist. "WE WILL DEFEAT THEM WITH YOUR LEGENDARY BRAVERY!" "Nah, let's run." "Huh?" Finally, a lord with reasonable ideas.
  22. Finally I can experience peak fiction, but it's a bit different from what I expected. For one thing, I thought the setting would be called Elyos, but instead it's a place called North Ambri- wait you need an account to watch the Cold Steel anime dub, so I can't make that joke yet. Now that Armagon pointed out that Alear is referred to as such on the back of the box, I checked the previous games' boxes and found that all the previous avatars are called 'you' (except Shez who isn't referred to at all). This bothers me more than it reasonably should...
  23. That's good, it'll keep me occupied even after I finish the game. Considering time zones, you'll probably get it before me at least. I just have to wait another eight hours. Mah boi, Engage is what all true warriors strive for.
  24. But that was one of the funniest moments in the game, even if it accompanied a big twist. Reject digital, embrace physical media. Understandable. I think I'm far enough into 13 Sentinels that I have a grasp on the general plot. I look forward to finishing the game so I can view the cutscenes in chronological order, then everything will make sense... probably. They give you enough points to unlock every Mystery File, right?
  25. "Oh my god, she even named it!" -Miwako Sawatari I'll get Engage tomorrow after work. I don't trust much in this postwar world... but if I trust anything, it's in-store pickup. Oh hey, I read that one. ...I don't think I understood much of it, though.
