The fact that the Oxygen Destroyer was used in KotM does allow Destoroyah to fit in. I think it'll also be interesting to see a more artificial Kaiju in the MonsterVerse, where all the other Kaiju are portrayed as these mythic beings that have existed for thousands of millenia.

Although a toy leak regarding Godzilla vs Kong seems to confirm that

      Reveal hidden contents

MechaGodzilla will be in so there's our artificial Kaiju

which makes sense given the credit teases.

Assuming the toy stuff is accurate...

    Spoiler

Including Mechagodzilla makes sense since he's the most iconic Toho kaiju not already in the MonsterVerse. Every Mechagodzilla is unique in terms of design, origin, and abilities so I'm interested in seeing what they do with him. Anime Mechagodzilla has a ton of weapons and abilities that never got used, makes you wonder why they bothered.

If Mechagodzilla is an antagonist, then I think he will be constructed by Monarch but hijacked by a group of villainous humans (who may or may not be associated with the villainous humans in KotM).

I suppose I'll predict how Godzilla vs. Kong will go:

    Spoiler
    • Kong will fight another Titan (not Godzilla) early on to show the audience how much stronger he's gotten since K:SI (could be Rodan or a new Titan)
    • Godzilla and Kong will meet each other at Skull Island about halfway through, and they might fight for a bit but the conflict will be cut short and Godzilla will leave.
    • Though the machinations of a villainous group of humans, Skull Island will be destroyed and sink into the ocean. Kong will witness it and will be enraged and heartbroken at the loss of his home. Circumstances lead him to be angry at Godzilla in particular, and Kong goes after him to get revenge.
    • Godzilla and Kong will confront each other again near the climax. Due to Skull Island's destruction, Kong's out for blood this time, and this is when the big smackdown happens. A new threat will attempt to eliminate them both, and Kong realizes that Godzilla is not at fault for Skull Island's fate. They team up to destroy the new enemy.
    • Godzilla and Kong emerge victorious, but Godzilla is grievously wounded. Before he leaves to hibernate, Godzilla passes the torch of King of the Monsters to Kong so he can keep the other Titans in check until he returns (Godzilla can recover earlier than expected if Legendary wants to make more movies involving him). Ads specify that "one will fall" but that doesn't mean one will defeat the other.

I don't expect this to be fully accurate but maybe I got some things right. I would also like for Rodan and Mothra to be present in some capacity, but that depends on if they can be implemented into the plot properly.

  2. Seeing these Xenoblade images makes me wonder when the world will be ready for HD Mumkhar... Or at least an HD version of this.

I would love to see a MonsterVerse take on Destoroyah.

I admit that I was expecting KotM to have a Destoroyah tease after the credits. Depending on where the MonsterVerse goes in the future, it might retroactively be a Destoroyah tease. What made Godzilla vs. Destoroyah your favorite film so far?

  3. After spending some time thinking of a name for my island, I found that it only has a character limit of 10. How are you supposed to do anything interesting with that? Even Pokémon increased the character limit to 12 in Gen VI. For now, I'll take what I can get and spread the good word of Xenoblade by calling it Aegis Isle. It's also a Greek mythology reference too, which is nice.

  4. Even though I wasn't expecting it, I ended up getting Animal Crossing for my birthday. It sure was nice of Nintendo to update the game yesterday! Monolith Soft helped develop it so it must be good.

One of the reasons I'm mentioning it is so I can say I have the same birthday as best girl Makoto Niijima. The other reason is so I have an excuse to post this:

I also misread "Something to kill time" as "Something to kill me" so I see I'm off to a good start...

But with Animal Crossing out of the way, I'm wondering if I should get the Definitive Works edition of Xenoblade Chronicles. I have two gift cards I've never used so the extra price might not matter too much.

  5. Since Xenoblade Definitive Edition is releasing next month, I decided to look into the Iwata Asks on the original release. In doing so, I learned that Xenoblade is the first Xeno game with likable characters.

    Quote

Iwata: And now you have the staff at Mario Club telling you that everyone felt affection towards the characters.

Takahashi: I really feel we've got a very positive response. In fact, this is the first time anyone has ever said something like that to me.

Iwata: So after all the years that you've spent making games, you'd say this is the first time where the hero and his companions haven't been disliked?

Takahashi: I think that's actually true.

There's also another section that caught my interest:

    Quote

Iwata: So Hattori-san's role was to look at the scenario and make comments about it from an objective position, taking into account the perspective of players who might not know much about the world Takahashi-san was creating. Did she ask some questions that were wide off the mark?

Takahashi: No, no, not at all. I was actually really grateful for her input. There were a lot of instances where I'd be writing the scenario and be deeply engaged in taking things in a particular direction, and while I'd be really excited by it, Hattori-san would point out that she couldn't really understand what we were getting at. One case in point is the game's ending. Initially, we'd come up with what we felt was an ending with a rather explanatory feel. But in fact, she told us that even with this explanation, she couldn't really understand it. When she pointed this out to me, I could see what she meant. There were things that seemed perfectly clear to us, but which were actually tricky to understand for players who didn't have previous knowledge. If you're referencing things that people know nothing about, it's really a meaningless exercise, isn't it?

It makes me wonder if the ending was supposed to be longer somehow. Hmm...

    Spoiler

Was the Zohar/Conduit always supposed to be involved in the experiment? It would fit what Takahashi said about "previous knowledge" and "referencing things that people know nothing about." Though Xenoblade is less grounded in Xenogears's lore than Xenosaga and Xenoblade 2 are (well, in comparison anyway), so maybe I'm wrong.

Did some shenanigans with Gladiator Orion

I never ended up beating Gladiator Orion (not without trying), maybe I'll get to that at some point soon. How long did it take you to get KOS-MOS?

  7. Bernadetta's dialogue during Chapter 6 has her wonder where Flayn's room is, so I headcanon that she's Seteth's roommate. That is, Seteth moved a second bed into his room after she started living at Garreg Mach. Flayn would rather get her own room near the students, but Seteth doesn't trust them around her. We see that Jeritza's room is in the knights quarters, even though he's a teacher and not a Knight of Seiros, so Hanneman and Manuela's rooms are probably around there too. Since he's Rhea's assistant, Seteth's (and Flayn's) room might be on the second or third floor. Lord Arundel stays in Garreg Mach for some time according to his conversation with Dimitri, so I wonder where the guest rooms are...

The sauna building also doubles as a bathhouse, with separate compartments for men and women. The baths have stalls around them so bathers can have their privacy, but Bernadetta still wakes up early so she can wash herself before anyone else gets there. Rhea has her own bathroom on the third floor and Seteth has Flayn wash there instead. Though Rhea is normally wary of technological advancement, she was merciful enough to allow the invention of plumbing.

Jeritza definitely got hit on by Manuela shortly after he started working at the Officers Academy. He's been mildly intimidated by her since then.

  8. Lambert and Patricia weren't even allowed to be alone together, their relationship barely counts as marriage. In fact they probably only got married so Cornelia could kill him.

Obviously Edie and Didi have no romantic interest in one another in the present, but even so they have an interesting dynamic. It's also interesting to imagine what would happen if Thales didn't get involved; would Lambert formally adopt Edelgard? Political marriage between her and Dimitri? But obviously none of that can happen in the continuity 3H takes place in.

  9. Three Houses has been out for a while now, so now's the time for another headcanon thread. My tendency to make long, rambling headcanons continues! This ended up being longer than I expected...

Anyway, I divided my writings into parts:

    Was Rhea always the Archbishop?

    Spoiler

Whenever Rhea wasn’t acting as Archbishop, she often placed her intended Sothis vessel in charge of the Church, though she still kept herself in an influential position. The vessels were created by “growing” a body around Sothis’s Crest Stone. Bodies created from only Nabatean genes were unstable, but bodies created from a combination of Nabatean and human genes developed successfully. As such, they possess characteristics of both species. The results weren’t always completely healthy, hence Sitri’s frailty, but most of them were healthy enough to serve as Archbishop. Once they died, Rhea would take the position again and try to create another vessel. One vessel instead became an opera performer famous for portraying Seiros herself (Rhea normally doesn’t think much of the actresses playing her, but she was very proud in this instance). On the rare occasions when neither Rhea or one of her vessels was Archbishop, she had one of her cardinals take the position.

    Jeralt's Backstory

    Spoiler

Jeralt Reus Eisner was born to a minor noble house in western Fódlan during the eleventh century of the Imperial Calendar, but he lost most of his family in a fire when he was still young. Rather than taking control of his house, Jeralt opted to dissolve it and become a soldier for Faerghus. He was tasked with escorting the Archbishop shortly after, and he was rewarded with her Crest after he saved her life.

Though Jeralt initially accepted Rhea’s offer to join the Knights of Seiros, he soon found that his Crest made him age much more slowly. Since his young age meant that this would be very obvious after a few years, he decided to journey across Fódlan as a mercenary to expand his horizons. Jeralt would travel as a wandering soldier for about a century, and Rhea invited him to serve as a Knight of Seiros once again after she returned to being Archbishop in the twelfth century (she claimed that her longevity was a result of her Crest and a blessing from the goddess). Since his lack of aging was now less obvious, Jeralt accepted.

Though Jeralt rejoined the knights around the time Sitri was born, he never interacted with her much until she was a teenager. Sitri developed a crush on the knight after listening to his stories and did favors for him out of appreciation. Jeralt developed the habit of giving Sitri flowers as thanks, and soon he fell in love with her in return. The age difference between them made Jeralt uncertain about acting on his feelings (and he avoided close relationships before as a result), but Rhea was aware of their mutual attraction and encouraged him to romance Sitri if it made them both happy.

    The Four Apostles

    Spoiler

The Four Apostles are all humans that earned Seiros’s favor in some fashion. Besides Aubin, they received their Crests as gifts from Seiros in the hopes of using them to perform the Rite of Rising.

Aubin was originally one of Nemesis’s allies who defected once he realized that the weapons he granted were made of bones (the Fetters of Dromi, meanwhile, stayed in the possession of his clan, and they were brought to Dagda once the war neared its end). Once the War of Heroes began, he informed Seiros of his pact with Nemesis, how he received his Crest, and the existence of the Heroes’ Relics. Seiros forgave him for briefly allying with Nemesis and accepted him as an ally, though Aubin did not participate in the fighting himself.

Chevalier was an Adrestian knight and one of Seiros’s most loyal allies during the War of Heroes. He was injured near the end of the war and was given his Crest as a reward for his service. The Altered Golems fought at the end of Crimson Flower are named after him and Seiros’s other allies from the War of Heroes. The source of his Crest happened to mentor Macuil in the art of blacksmithing, which is why his Crest is on some of the sacred weapons.

Noa was Macuil’s protégée in the arts of magic, being one of the few humans who he took a liking to. Following Macuil’s departure for Sreng, she adopted his role of teaching magic to others. Her Crest was granted to amplify her existing magical skill. Her relationship with Macuil is partially why she passed off her Crest as his.

Timotheos, the last of the Apostles to be granted his Crest, was an astrologer and an architect who helped construct Garreg Mach. As time went on, he filled the position of Seiros’s assistant, similar to how Seteth would be Rhea’s assistant later.

Following the Rite of Rising, Seiros allowed the Apostles to keep their respective Crest Stones (again, besides Aubin). Chevalier's Crest Stone was used to create Vajra-Mushti (forged from the bones of Demonic Beasts), while the Crest Stones of Noa and Timotheos were stolen by those who slither in the dark.

Headcanons that slither in the dark

    Spoiler

Fortunately for the people of Fódlan, javelins of light can’t be used willy-nilly because the Agarthans don’t have the resources to make more than they already have. To ensure that their uses are conserved, only the leader of the Agarthans (Thales in the present) knows the spell to activate them, and the spell can only be performed in Shambhala. There are documents detailing how the spell works, but they are kept strictly hidden unless the previous leader dies without passing it down, in which case a new leader is chosen and given access to the secrets. They don’t want some apprentice mage to use them all at once, after all. The Agarthans also use their technology to augment their bodies; this is the "secret of their bodies" that Thales alluded to.

Solon was placed in charge of the Crest experiments on House Ordelia. Once it was confirmed that implanting two Crests in a person is possible, Thales summoned the Crest research mages to Enbarr for the experiments on House Hresvelg (the official story was that the royals were all died from a deadly disease, and that Edelgard’s hair color change was a side effect of the disease). With his job done, Solon returned to Shambhala to record the data he collected until he learned that Flayn began living at Garreg Mach in 1179. Solon adopted Tomas’s identity (who was killed following his return to House Ordelia in 1172) to gain access to Flayn, Garreg Mach’s library, and Abyss’s library. After obtaining Flayn’s blood and planting Kronya as a spy, Solon used the blood to create a magic poison that was tested on the citizens of Remire Village.

Following their deaths, the bodies of Nemesis and the 10 Elites were collected by the Agarthans, though it took several centuries for them all to be found (their blood was still powerful and was used for the experiments on Houses Ordelia and Hresvelg). Following their retrieval, copies of their Heroes’ Relics were constructed from Agarthium; the Dark Creator Sword is powered by the Crest Stones of Noa and Timeotheos, while the rest use artificial Crest Stones created during the timeskip. As the Agarthans never obtained Maurice’s body (as he was still alive as the Wandering Beast), the copy of Blutgang was broken down and used to construct Aymr instead. Thales’s plan was to revive Nemesis and the Elites, with a combination of the Crest of Flames and dark magic, as a last resort against the people of Fódlan, in the event that Edelgard was defeated before fulfilling their goals.

More on the Saints and Nabateans

    Spoiler

Due to Fódlan's turbulent history, the Nabateans created by Sothis can be divided into "generations." The first generation Nabateans were created before Sothis’s conflict with the Agarthans, and the second generation Nabateans were created after. Indech, Cichol, Macuil, and Rhea (created in that order) are all second generation, and as such they don’t know much about the world was before the Agarthan conflict. Most of the first generation was killed in the conflict, so much of the knowledge from that time was lost even to the Nabateans. Cethleann, being born after Sothis went to sleep, is currently the only third generation Nabatean.

The first of the second generation Nabateans were the originators of the Crests given to the Four Apostles. They were created by Sothis with the intention of using their Crests along with the Chalice of Beginnings to revive those killed during the Agarthan conflict. However, Sothis soon realized that reviving so many lives would require killing them, so she relented and instead opted to restore the land herself. These Nabateans were killed alongside the rest at Zanado, and one of them was used to create the Fetters of Dromi and the Crest of Aubin. Seiros preserved the blood of the other three in the hopes of eventually performing the Rite of Rising herself.

Though most Nabateans did not encourage humans to worship them, some human settlements built churches to honor them anyway. Cichol met and fell in love with a woman in an Enbarr church, after she was forced out of her home of Rhodos Coast due to instability caused by Nemesis (she is another namesake for one of Rhea’s Altered Golems). They and their daughter, Cethleann, enjoyed visiting Rhodos Coast during times of stability.

As for the other two Saints, Indech was a rugged manly man who was Dedue-tier in height, while Macuil was a pretty boy around Cichol’s height. Macuil also had luxurious long hair and Cethleann often asked him for hair-care tips. Following the Battle of Tailtean that resulted in Nemesis’s death and Cethleann and Cichol going into isolation, Seiros and Macuil argued on what to do with the Elites and their families (Macuil wanted to kill them all, Seiros wanted to spare the families). Not wanting to be involved and saddened by the departure of Cichol and Cethleann, Indech went into hiding at Lake Teutates, with Macuil leaving Fódlan for Sreng shortly after.

Additionally, while the source of the Crest of Ernest is unknown even to Rhea, legend has it that "Saint" Ernest is an immortal trickster who helps and harms people seemingly at random. It is said that Ernest grants his Crest to people who catch his interest, but nobody can agree on if his Crest is supposed to be a blessing or a curse. This version of Ernest is an apocryphal figure with no support from the Church’s writings, but the legend is the most popular story about the mysterious Crest.

What's up with Anselma/Patricia in the Kingdom?

    Spoiler

We don’t know the circumstances behind Anselma’s exile from Adrestia, but it seems to have been before the Insurrection of the Seven since she basically raised Dimitri and Edelgard doesn't remember her much. At some point after 1167, Duke Aegir thought Anselma was pretty hot and tried to use some of his noble Aegir charisma on her, but she was unimpressed and rejected his advances. Feeling offended, Duke Aegir used his connections to accuse her of being a sympathizer to the Hrym insurrection, though her relationship with Ionius meant that she was exiled from the Empire instead of receiving a worse punishment. Hearing about Anselma’s predicament, her “friend” Cornelia invited her to Fhirdiad and introduced her to Lambert.

When Lord Arundel and Edelgard ended up in Faerghus, the latter was passed off as a relative of the former named Edelgard von Arundel. The names of Ionius’s children were not common knowledge, and since Edelgard was sheltered she didn’t bother using an alias. Lambert eventually learned that she was an Imperial princess, but was forced to keep quiet about it for her protection. Patricia never learned that her brother and daughter were ever in Fhirdiad, and they never learned about her either. Edelgard came to believe that her mother died in some obscure town, and that Dimitri's accusations of her killing her mother were just him being delusional.

Lastly, Edelgard and Dimitri almost kissed once when they were in Faerghus, but they both found it very awkward and agreed to never talk about it again.

I like to think about how Legendary created an original Kaiju (multiple but i'm talking about this one right now) that shows up for like ten seconds in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and it's actually managed to be popular among the Godzilla community (from what i've seen) because it looks really cool.

I would love to see a Behemoth movie, whether it's solo or shared with Godzilla. I think once Legendary's contract with Toho expires, Toho gains the rights to the original Kaiju (same thing happened with Zilla) and if we were to get a Behemoth movie, it'd be after that happens.

I'm not sure how the rights of the original monsters will be handled (Zilla's rights carried over because he's an incarnation of Godzilla), but we know that Toho wants to make a "World of Godzilla" series of films after Godzilla vs. Kong releases. I don't know what that means but I'm looking forward to it, and I certainly wouldn't mind if Behemoth, Methuselah, and Scylla were included.

A wooly mammoth with stony ridges down its back. Doesn't look like a bad concept. Maybe send it to trample Canada into the ground? Or is Canada too nice to stomp on?

At first, I thought this more elephant than mammoth and considered the African continent as a location to bring to ruin, but I'd guess that despite modern urbanization, the continent is too "barren" of monumental structures to stop on. If it were more elephantine, it'd be poetic justice for all humanity has shot dead of them and rhinoceroses.

Behemoth is actually from Brazil, and it's more like a giant sloth/mammoth hybrid than a pure mammoth.

...My only experience with Kaiju is vague memories of a GameCube Godzilla fighting game. 95% sure it was trash in retrospect, but I was young and somehow got it anyhow despite not asking for it, so it wasn't so bad.

Destroy All Monsters Melee is actually good, though I never unlocked every character when I played it because I only ever had one memory card. Since I never unlocked the secret character (Orga), I assumed it was King Kong with a giant machine gun.

Hi, I need some lore help here

Does anyone remember on what occasion Jeralt's full name "Jeralt Reus Eisner" was mentioned?

I know it's in the game but can't remember which chapter or by whom.

It isn't, Jeralt's full name exists in the data but is never mentioned in-game as far as I know. Some other characters, like Lonato, Miklan, and Lambert, also have full names that are never mentioned.

  12. I wonder why the Four Saints all get their names from Irish mythology when Sothis is the Greek form of an Egyptian name. Meanwhile, Seiros and Rhea are both Greek. Since Seiros is an alias and is based on Sirius's namesake, it's plausible that she based it on Sothis's name in-universe. The Ashen Wolf house is named after "the beasts who guard the Blue Sea Star," so it seems that the Blue Sea Star is Fódlan's name for Sirius, especially since Sothis is said to have come from it (Sirius is the "Dog Star" and the brightest star of the constellation Canis Major, so presumably people interpreted the wolf shape as being the star's guardian).

Most Agarthans are named after the Seven Sages of Greece, including Thales, Solon, Myson, Chilon, Bias, and Pittacus. If there was a seventh member, they would probably be named Cleobulus.

Lastly, Byleth and Sitri are named after demons from the Ars Goetia. Notably, Sitri is the twelfth demon listed and Byleth is the thirteenth; in Three Houses, Sitri and Byleth are respectively the 12th and 13th vessels of Sothis. If this naming scheme carried over from the previous vessels, then the first would be named Bael, the second would be Agares, and so on.

  13. Metodey is just a particularly sociopathic mercenary who is already working for the Empire by the time CS takes place, and helping Aelfric was a side job that Edelgard didn't know about. Whether or not he knows the Flame Emperor's identity is unclear, but he's unnerved when he sees Edelgard and Edelgard is displeased to see him. One of the NPCs in Abyss recognizes Metodey and says that "he wouldn’t hesitate to slaughter an entire town" if he could benefit from it, which supports the idea that he's a mercenary.

TWSITD also seem unaffiliated with Aelfric's plot (mostly because it's never implied in any fashion), and manipulating him into getting the Chalice of Beginnings sounds like too much trouble if they could kidnap the descendants of the Four Apostles themselves. Given Sitri's nature, I think her body would be more valuable to them than the Chalice of Beginnings, so they would rather keep her for themselves rather than using her to control Aelfric.

I wouldn't expect you to remember it if you haven't played it, so you are forgiven. There are other SpongeBob games that are pretty good, but BfBB is seen as the best because it's both a good platformer and a good SpongeBob game.

You forgot to mention that the giant plant monster made from Godzilla's cells also has the soul of a human girl! She does look pretty cool though.

  17. It's nice to know when Future Connected takes place, and based on the short story in the Monado Archives (spoilers)

    Spoiler

Fiora spent half a year in the regeneration chamber to restore her Homs body, so we can infer that Future Connected takes place six months after the epilogue.

While I'm confident that Shulk, Melia, and the two Nopon are the only party members, I'm not sure if the Nopon will be individual fighters (so the party will have four members) or if they'll be a two-in-one character. Given his tendency to appear in crossovers, maybe Shovel Knight will be a secret character. It seems that not every party member from the main game will appear (nor will there be voiced Heart-to-Hearts), but maybe some of them will.
