So what were the early to mid 2000's like?
MercyWalk replied to ๐๐ฒ๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ's topic in General
Information moved slower but fast enough that false information and rumours would spread like wildfire. See: Pikablu Delinquent behavior IRL was much more prevalent but also had more punishment if you were caught. People did not call each other out for poor behaviour unless you were an authority figure, it was tucked under the rug. Lots of slurs, lots of ignorance, lots of hateful humor (take a look at any gaming forum pre 2013 and you'll see what I mean). Mental health was definitely not treated seriously. It was a world built for the norm. I'm glad people can find their tribe through social media nowadays, for example all the niche interests tiktoks. That being said I still think message boards are the best form of communication online, it's unfortunate they died out by the end of the 00s. I know Y2K aesthetics have been seeing a rise in popularity over the last few years but most design was absolutely tragic in the 2000s. -
I really dislike turn based systems that are like the earlier Final Fantasy games, it feels like such a chore without any immediately satisfying feedback when 80% of fights don't require an ounce of brainpower, and harder fights in this context usually are only ramping up numbers without too many variables at play. It feels better when you have constant hit sounds and feedback like in Kingdom Hearts. However tRPG turn based systems usually have more at stake, whether it's the health/positioning/resource system etc. so it usually feels like a satisfying challenge with all the variables involved, and those are my favourite.

This game has amazing replayability through dialogue choices and events alone. Unfortunately yes, Act 3 is a little buggy and there are some story inconsistencies. My main complaint is dealing with summons. They are extremely disruptive to NPCs as they automatically freak out when you have any of your summons around they seem to dislike all of them and will keep chasing + shouting at them to go away, additionally some of the summons can't even jump which is extremely annoying when traversing through the map. I'm not familiar with DnD at all but the stat/dice/roll system was implemented well enough that my dumb ass could understand most of it by the end of Act 1, i'm thankful for this because I typically have a hard time adapting to new combat systems.

Pretty much only english My Cantonese would be at a kindergarten level, Vietnamese at an expletives only level. I'd love to learn French and Arabic or Farsi though

Blazing Blade is still the standard I hold all FE's to even now! welcome

What part do you find a slog? Honestly it's just all the cutscenes for me. I played on normal till chapter 7ish and restarted to hard while skipping everything to get back to where I was and even turned animations off. Personally hard is the right balance of difficulty for me

Is there a triangle attack in this game?

GBA FE Critical Hit Collection video
MercyWalk replied to shadowofchaos's topic in GameBoy Advance Era
Got the GBA games really were the peak of style in terms of attack animations. 3D really restricted the impact of it all due to having to make them more grounded. How cool was seeing the promoted lords attack, let alone crit? Swordmaster and Assassin crits too.. -
Over the past few years I have fallen out of love with most hobbies. I truly hope I can enjoy things as I once did, and with that i'm starting a playthrough of FE4 for the first time in ages. As per real life, i'm looking to explore my creative side once again and hopefully in different avenues. Ceramics and floristry currently are on my mind~

Seadall is definitely a standout, as is Sfolgia, the whole kingdom of Solm is actually pretty great The kingdom of Firene seems to be the most traditionally Fire Emblem-like and I'm quite fond of them because of that, though my favourite is Jean who looks like an outlier.

When you log on in 2023 and realize you made your account 13 years ago. I still remember signing the guestbook on Angel Sword Memories. The blue theme of that website is burned into my mind. Its nice to see Serene's Forests style basically staying the same too.

I had a friend a few years ago that had been diagnosed with a plethora of mental issues which left him in a cycle of self neglect. I am in no way blaming him, but it was clear the effects of no physical exercise (at least, anything too strenuous), absence of socializing IRL and a poor diet left him in a much more... regressed state than he could've been, I just wish he could've at least had one period where he was hitting all those 'targets', but alas, mental health does not play nice. I had my own battles, and I think the biggest thing for me is getting enough sleep.

All I need is a large desk, mostly empty room, insulation, good air flow and some sort of aroma emission from incense/reed diffuser/oil diffuser
