There are a handful in heroes that were changed from Awakening - "Osian" instead of Orsin comes to mind.

The only thing close to canon as far as pairings go in Fates is Subaki and Selena in Revelation. Anything else is fair game. Typically, if you want a child unit to be good, make their mom a royal (for the ones who don't already have royal blood). Elise is probably the best magical mom in the game and Camilla is probably the best physical mom in the game (Hinoka and Sakura are second, probably, in the categories they fit into but I'm not familiar with Rev or Birthright as much as Conquest so I don't know for sure). Marry Corrin to a girl with a royal mom (or a boy with a royal mom if you're Femui) to get a good Kana. BUT it doesn't really matter anyway. Just use who/what you like.

Not even close in terms of how much better it looks than older styles. Fates and Awakening looked good, too, but this is far better imo - better use of color, less extravagant clothing in general, and just easier on the eyes as a whole.

It certainly did, but it would still feel out of place. It would be like having pair up in FE7 which wouldn't really lend itself to improved gameplay.

Wouldn't mind. Pair-up would feel out of place in a game that isn't designed around it (as if it isn't bad enough in Awakening). Plus, I don't love pair up as a mechanic anyways.

Rinkah is statistically crap as an Oni Savage. Outside of Strength, Speed, and Defense her bases are decent at best. Granted, she IS a level four unit but her piss poor growths (particularly in Str and HP) ensure that her stats won't improve a whole lot from these early game bases. Her strength growth is tied for second lowest in Birthright, tied with Yukimura and only beating out Orochi. Her HP growth is even worse, sitting at the lowest in Birthright (and I think she only beats out Gunter in Revelations, which is hardly an achievement). While she does have solid Skill, Speed, and Defense growths, they do little to help her as a unit in her base class: her skill cap is low in Oni Savage, doubling doesn't mean anything if she can't do damage in the first place (or only hits for 3 damage), and high defense while nice won't matter if she's unable to get more than 25 hp consistently. TL;DR, don't use Rinkah. If you must use her, if she's your favorite character ever, do yourself a favor and reclass her asap into a Berserker or Dread Fighter.
