  1. I've never bought a console day 1 either, but your thought process is literally my thought process on this matter. And overall, yeah I think the Switch is pretty cool. I probably won't use the portable functions ever, because I just don't go anywhere, but it's a nice touch if necessary. I'm happy that it has a different name and that Nintendo is ACTUALLY SHOWING THE WHOLE CONSOLE!! Seriously, for the Wii U they loved showing the Gamepad but hated showing the physical console. I knew the Wii U was going to be a whole new console, I just like looking at the actual console itself (collectors reasons), but a lot of people I talked to at the time just thought it was an add on to the Wii and was actively telling me not to get one. Glad to see Nintendo has changed that. Sadly, as much as I really do love the Wii U, the Switch is probably what the Wii U should have been all along.
  2. Kent and Sain, they were the only duo where I used both on my first play through. Yeah, I'm not even kidding.
  3. Yeah, Lyn's story was the first ever Fire Emblem game I played so I have very fond memories of it. And yes, I absolutely agree that because the group was so small and everyone had something it say it really made the group feel closer and more alive. I still won't ever forget the ending of Lyn's story when you're having your goodbyes and that wonderful drawing of her. I don't know about anyone else but to me that was gaming magic right there. I'll always love Lyn, her story and her little team of pals she got. Lyn taught me how to play Fire Emblem after all.
  4. Wait, there's a rumor for a new Luigi's Mansion!? Holy damn! That's amazing! I pray that's true! Fair enough.
  5. I really don't think they did a good job showing that. It sorta just made her come across as unlikable and made me not care about anything she does really. Because all I have to go by is that she was a brat as a kid and now she's.... a really descriptive writer? Cause seriously, her monologues are in such strange detail no one talks like that. Granted, I know I talk like a freak, but she's so descriptive and precise I am really just not a fan. I can't wait until I have the time to play Prime... or the money to play Fusion...
  6. Yeah, I did notice that she doesn't talk much to other people, and I think that's really cool that they decided to do that. But god her monotone monologues are... not good. I don't plan the actress, because when she's is actually talking to other people she does a better job at emoting, I blame the voice direction. But, I've seen a lot of TV shows, a lot of movies, a lot of bad movies and I've never rolled my eyes like I did at the thumbs down thing... I was thinking, "Really? Really? They're gonna go with something that dumb and play it straight?" I really thought that part was ridiculous. And like, I dunno sometimes I have a soft spot for games that try to do something different and gets a terrible reaction. I actually kinda like Sonic 06..... but Other M, it's not very fun. Or at least to me it's not, I was hoping for something a little more, and it's just kinda, "meh" with a side of terrible story. It makes me wanna replay Zero Mission-Super Metroid again.
  7. That's actually an insanely good idea. Yeah, what they didn't show you was that when Samus entered the area Adam had a nap and then woke up and realized Samus has dying from the heat and then tried to pretend he was actively paying attention the whole time and nonchalantly told Samus to use the Varia Suit. Also, the game didn't tell you that Mother Brain's beam caused severe damage to Samus' brain, meaning she lost a lot of IQs and it made her personalty off. It took a while for Samus' brain to recover but it eventually did by the time of Fusion. I'm very entertained by Other M's story, but for the wrong reasons :P I actually think a Metroid game with a heavily focus on story would be really cool, it just needs to be a good story. And Samus needs to be written well. I think Samus in Other M suffered from being written as a "Strong Female Character" I'll let you know now that I hate "Strong Female Characters" because they're written so terribly. Like, that whole thumbs down thing? What the hell? It sure makes her sound like an annoying brat. And just everything they try to make Samus be in this game, it make her seem extremely fragile and I honestly can't see someone that fragile with such low confidence do the shit that the REAL Samus did in all the other Metroid games. Samus should have been written as a strong character instead of a "Strong Female Character" because female is not a personality trait. And if the writers for Other M were any good, they'd realize that. I for one am just happy that I can separate the real Samus from the one Other M had. It's real sad to hear some people say that Other M ruined Samus for me, but for me I see the two as separate entities because beside looks they're nothing alike. I can't wait for them to make another Metroid game with Samus at the star so the real Samus can fully come back. From what I've heard she has some cameos in Federation Force, and she seemed to be like her true self again. And this may just be my own person opinion, but I don't think Samus gives a damn your feelings, unless you earn her respect. But these are all just my thoughts.
  8. Hey y'all! First I want to say sorry for not being on here! You can blame Canadian Thanksgiving, and then some filming projects of mine for not being online. Yes, I do understand what you're saying. I guess because I just came off of Zero Mission and AM2R I already had some kind of experience with these games, and I just wanted to do things... more my way. And if the last save point really in a Point of No Return!? I didn't try to go back so I had no idea! I'm happy I made multiple save files for before the final area.... Yeah, I'm noticing real quickly how much Other M doesn't want you to go anywhere except the laid out route. Also side note, I didn't think the Adam authorization would bother me that much, but there's so many fucking doors that need super missiles or similar things like that and the game isn't letting me go back to those areas whenever I want to so it'd be really nice if Samus could just pull out the Super Missiles then and there so I could explore that room and be done with it! The game does build up Ridley extremely well. I was so excited to face him because I felt like I achieved something just by getting to him. I dunno, sometimes with old games I feel like I'm never going to make it to the end. Something about old games make me feel like they're just extremely long and have no end in sight. So when I reach the end it's sorta like, "WOW! This is game is possible to beat in a life time!" Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings totally had that feel for me as well, but I felt so great when I beat those games!
  9. Yeah, I think Super Metroid definitely had the best exploration feel out of all of it. You know, the classic you're isolated feeling and you've got the whole planet to explore thing that the Metroid series is known for. Just a really explore-able world, I guess? The main thing I guess I wasn't a fan of, could just be because how I personally like to explore things. I like to explore a huge section in a really linear way, so I basically like to just keep moving forward so I can see the basic layout of the area, and then once I do that I go back and search for everything in that contained space, so after all of that I'll follow back on the path that I already explored. What Super Metroid did, that I found kinda funny because it's a huge constant complaint I heard about for Other M, was that I kept on getting locked of sections that I already went through so I couldn't back track to them. I was in the grassy area of Brinstar, the game encouraged me to see what was next so I wanted to see what was next, and then it locked me out of the grassy area of Brinstar before I got all the things I could, non-upgrade required goods included. Or a little after that I went down a pit and there was no way to get back up again until I got the ice beam. It sorta felt like I couldn't fully enjoy the game until I got all the upgrades, so I sorta made it my mission to get all the upgrades as soon as possible, because the more upgrades I got the more fun I could have in the game (sadly for the wrong reasons though). But I did still have a really fun time with Super Metroid, it is a damn good game and you bet I respect the crap out of what it did for the Metroid series, but I had a frustrating start with it. And I know my frustration with the game will diminish the more I play the game, and I absolutely plan to. But I much prefer AM2R's brand of linearity thanks to the lava, which I know they only added because the original Metroid II had it, but I personally love that lava mechanic, and I loved how in Zero Mission if I was halfway done Kraid's lair and I just didn't feel like doing that at the moment, I could leave whenever I wanted and explore Brinstar or Norfair some more. But yeah, the next time I play Super Metroid I'll be more familiar with the layout and the item locations and the exact moments that the game locks you out of sections so I know I'll have a better time with it. Hell, I got like 80% of the items in my play through and a part of me said, "fuck it! I wanna fight the final boss" So I didn't bother looking for more items then. And yes, I'm Other M right now and I have opinions of that game.... there's a reason why I specified and said I liked AM2R's "brand" of linearity. Other M is a whole other beast....
  10. Oh my god.... how did I not realize that before!? And I gotta put Male Corrin's default hair on there. I love you male Corrin, but your hair is barley passable in Fates, and downright awkward in Smash Bros (I change your hair for a reason, eh).
  11. Yeah, those are my thoughts about AM2R compared to the other games! Comparing Zero Mission, AM2R and Super Metroid all I need to do is look at the bomb jump and how well I can pull it off. Zero Mission: I have some difficulty but I can probably get the job done within seven minutes. Super Metroid: I'm lucky if Samus is bumped up twice from a bomb AM2R: Anything is possible! But yeah, Super Metroid is a really good game and I will always give it credit for all the wonderful things it's done. Like making Zero Mission and AM2R as fantastic as they were. The SNES era was like, the defining era for games. I think it's what's made games the way they are today. I'm sadly just not the greatest retro gamer, my first console was the N64 and my defining console was the Gamecube. It's harder to go back. The SNES games I've beaten are Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, and now Super Metroid. Granted I plan on playing and beating Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, but that's gonna happen when I'm craving more of my favourite game series and when Thracia gets a better fan translation. I'd also like to finish A Link to the Past one day, I sorta stopped playing it halfway through.... Me being a terrible retro gamer is also why I probably couldn't ever play the original Metroid II. God that game is so terribly dated, and if long time Metroid friends consider it the black sheep then I have no idea how I'd be able to play that game. (THANKS AM2R!)
  12. I gotta admit, I use to hate Super Paper Mario. I loved the turned based gameplay of the originals and I loved the partners, so I was very upset when none of that returned on Super Paper Mario. And no the Pixls are not parenters, I don't care what people try to tell me. I can accept Peach, Bowser and Luigi as partners but SURE AS HELL NOT THE PIXLS! But yeah, looking back and after replaying the game a few times I can without a doubt say that Super Paper Mario is a great game, it's really brillant at times two, like the underwhere and the otherthere was genious. Sometimes, personally I felt like the story was a little tad pretentious at times... I honestly didn't really care about Tippi or Count Bleck. I don't even really like Tippi, she's very useful to the game by showing you hidden things and telling you information but it seemed like she always left you! And I could never use her, all I wanted to to was bond with her character via gameplay and she kept on leaving! Though I think the overrall story of the game was the strongest in Super Paper Mario. Personally though, I love the contained individual stories that each chapter had to offer in the original Paper Mario and TYD. For me, there was a ton of world building and it really made me care about each and every citizen of whatever place I was in. No Paper Mario game has made me care about specific characters from specific chapters since. But seriously, at least SPM made me care about characters in general. Oh btw, I tended to only use Peach in SPM when I could get away with it. Goombella is flawless.
  13. Right? Especially because of it's plot significance in Super Metroid. I think I read somewhere that they wanted to include an entry about the crystals in a future update... Why Nintendo... why...? Can Nintendo please pull a Sonic Mania and hire the guy who made AM2R? And maybe put AM2R on the eShop? I know that will never happen, but it's such a wonderful pleasant dream.
  14. Sticker Star in my opinion was okay when I first played it. I was happy that it had turn based battles again, because I feel like that was a step in the right direction to get Paper Mario games like their old selves again. In Sticker Star I loved the Boo's Mansion level because that felt like a Paper Mario game to me! That chapter felt like the good old Paper Mario game I knew and loved was back! So I was really hoping that the next Paper Mario game would be back to it's original form! But alas that was not the case... I was really disappointed when Color Splash was announced. I know that Nintendo wants to keep their Mario RPGs to the Mario and Luigi series, but I just wasn't able to get into them, I'll try again later but even still they just don't have the classic Paper Mario feel to them. Paper Mario and Super Mario RPG were the Mario RPG games that I loved, Mario and Luigi just hasn't done it for me. As for Color Splash as a game, I'll buy it and play it eventually, I'm happy to hear it's getting better reviews because while Sticker Star does get a pass for me, if Color Splash was as shallow as Sticker Star was then the game wouldn't have payable for me. From the very few things I've seen Color Splash seems to have better writing then Sticker Star, which is a plus.
  15. Yeah, I totally get what you're saying about the blue map stuff, I noticed there were no map rooms in the game anyway. I haven't played Fushion yet so I can't quite comment on the Serris fight in that game, but yeah I was surprised how easy that fight was. Visually it was really cool to look at though, but it was easy (a breather boss). I think I heard that the research/rescue team sub plot, that they wanted to make an update with the mechs from Federation Force (here I am talking about that game right after I said I wouldn't), I thought that would have made a great touch. Especially because they said they wanted to use it and make it a reference to the movie "Aliens" and this game already has such an Aliens vibe to it, like the Queen Metroid for example. I'll take an Aliens reference any day of the week! Hell, the original Metroid was inspired by the original Alien movie, was it not? And for the waterfalls... visually it was pretty? I dunno, it was annoying when I fell through on the top level because I didn't know I could do that. Personally something I would have LOVED would be a new log about the Baby Metroid, maybe explaining that it seems to have taking a liking to Samus, or thinks of Samus as its mother. As well as a log entry on the crystals that the Baby Metroid eats. I just want more info on the Baby Metroid, I love the little guy but he sorta just pops up really nonchalantly and then the game ends. Like, I get how that's probably how it went down in the original game. But with all of these log entries and new information added into the game, the lack of information on the Baby Metroid sorta feels like they just wanted to release the game already. It sorta kinda game me the feeling that I was still playing demo.... I seriously love that Baby Metroid though! Every time in Super Metroid when I loose and the Baby Metroid appears on screen and they ask me if I wanna keep on searching for it and I'm thinking, "Well hell yes!" That's my basically my child!! At the time being, beating Zero Mission, AM2R and being half way into Super Metroid I gotta say that AM2R is my favourite one so far. I love the location, I love the Metroid hunt, I love the graphics and I love the controls, I love the freak'en passion coming out of it. I can't wait until I get my hori gameboy player controller so I can replay AM2R with it! God Super Metroid was hard to get into after coming off of AM2R.
  16. Oh god damn it! I was so fixated on that one spot. I'm "just your regular old ditzy" for a reason, eh. This one missing item is just eating away at me now... Mocking me....
  17. I know there were two things that you have to get after the explosion, the one I'm talking about is the power bomb expansion at the very very very bottom of the map. It's in the section after the elevator. If we are talking about the same thing then PLEASE MY GOD tell me how to get there, I am all damn ears. Seriously that was so annoying.
  18. Well, no one's posted anything on that other forum in like, almost three weeks now, and I know nothing about Federation Force, and I am generally not interested in talking about it (because I'm not a long time Metroid fan, so I don't really have opinions about Federation Force at all), so I'm just gonna reply to the AM2R specific one that's only 2 days old. Well for starters, I literally just started playing Metroid games last week. I've heard a little bit about Metroid and I found a lot of it really interesting, plus Samus is just bad ass. One of my main problems was that I'm a story kinda guy, and I liked how the first three Metroids connected with each other, even if it was just loosely. But the original Metroid II just... didn't really seem like it'd be my thing. I suck at retro games. I've only beat a handful of SNES games and I've only beat 1 NES game, which will probably be the only one I'll ever beat. But then I discovered AM2R and it looked so fantastic, I could just feel the passion for this project and other people's excitement for this Metroid game rubbed off on me. So I decided to buy Zero Mission from the eShop and I played the shit out of it! It was fantastic! Immediately afterwards I picked up AM2R and I actually beat it today. I also just started Super Metroid.... It's pretty great. But yeah, AM2R was absolutely fantastic, I'm super bummed there's not gonna be some more updates, because I noticed a few things I would have liked added to it, just to make this already polished masterpiece even more perfect. I got 99% of the items though, I missed one that the factory that explodes and now it's sealed off or something I think. Real god damn piss off, but the game is still beautiful. (I hope someone remakes Fire Emblem Gaiden in the same way as AM2R, I don't wanna play Gaiden...)
  19. I was doing a Gaiden chapter run of Shadow Dragon and that was literally the same chapter I stopped playing the game to go replay Binding Blade.
  20. Fire Emblem Fates: BIRTHRIGHT! I got everything I wanted out of Conquest so Birthright was.... not really a priority. I picked it up again a fews weeks ago I think, and then beat it in three days. But yeah, Conquest was honestly, everything I was looking forward to in Fates so Birthright seemed... a little extra to me. Plus my man wasn't in Birthright and that's sad. Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations I think I'm doing that right now with Revelations. The game is going by so quickly and I feel like I can only use the siblings in the main chapters. But now my non-sibling team members I used in Conquest and Birthright are really underleveled and I feel bad and I feel like I need to grind. But I've already been grinding a looot, So I haven't felt like leveling up the Awakening Trio, Kaden, Kaze and Orochi. Seriously Azura didn't even make the cut for characters I use during the main chapters because I demand that I have Silas, Felicia and Niles on my team. Also I want to get back all the supports I worked hard to get on Conquest and Birthright(+some). Final Fantasy VII I just got to part where I can explore the over world map.... I plan on getting back to it in October when I've killed some games off my list. Pikmin 3 I've done it to every Pikmin game that's not the first one. It was fun, but then my list of games piled up. Pokemon Y I just beat X, and then I played Y and then a Perfect IV team destroyed my team that I spent 4 generations working on tp get ribbons, and I got the team from different games because I like having my Pokemon listed from different regions, and I got them all in different Pokeballs, but no apparently culture doesn't matter because some Pokemon where just born better. This is why I don't battle perfect IV teams. Mario Kart: Double Dash I just finished Wii, and Double Dash's controls are not as fun for me.
  21. That is pretty god awful. But I'm also really indifferent about Forrest as a character so.... I did this for Awakening actually. I knew that Severa, Owain and Inigo would be in Fates so I tried to give them the same hair colour they have in Fates during my Awakening playthrough. Then Fates said that they all dyed their hair, and then Fates DLC showed us that no, the do have that colour. MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!
  22. Haha, I have actually found 2 legit shiny Pokemon! A male nidoran and pidove, in HeartGold and Black version respectively. I was in awe... Then I used my action replay to clone then so I could keep them in the game I caught then AND bring them to Gen 6. Also my friends have never found a single shiny before, so I may have hacked some just for them :P Gotta make the friends happy. Anyway, I think cheating is fun, but only if you do so responsibly. Responsible cheating that is. Like back in the DS days the DS system's internet connection wasn't compatible with my home internet so I wasn't allowed to do ANY of those downloading events. That sucked. Answer: Action Replay! I hate download exclusive anything because if I ever want to replay the game then I won't be able to get everything unless I got a handy Action Replay at the ready. So yeah, in the DS Pokemon games, I got all of those internet exclusive items, including the one they didn't release. And in Shadow Dragon; Caeda is a Falcon Knight like she should be. Also I'm currently doing a Gaiden chapter run on Shadow Dragon so I got 99 Aum Staffs. Sadly I couldn't find a code for just the Aum Staff so I now have every item in my inventory. I was shocked when I remembered that dead unit's items go back in the convey so now I'm stuck with two Falchion swords.... Damn... If anyone wanted to give me a code that just has the Aum staffs I'd be pretty happy... just-just throwing that out there in the open.
  23. Yeah no don't worry I agree with you. I once saw someone say that SeveraxSubaki was horrible because Severa has issues with her mother because her mother is perfect and she's always in her shadow, and then she marries someone who is VERY much like ever mother, Pegasus knight, perfect and then to top it off she gives BIRTH to basically her mother and she can't escape it. And I thought about it and I was like... wow... that's true.... that's like Severa's own personal hell! Yep yeah, thought of my own, I think if that's all Severa is, Cordelia, Subki and Caeldori, then Severa's character is sort of one note. And I like her too much to make her character flat. Oh damn, I didn't even think about that... Forrest's hair will be very ugly... eh, I might still give them a try. If I do like them together then oh well! Forrest ain't my favourite anyway!
  24. Well this is awkward but I actually picked up FE7 and gave the series a try because I found out I could marry a dude in Fates so um... yeah... That is interesting! I like that! Really? I never would have guessed that. But I don't think you're the only one to say that. Why thank you! I wanted to pair her off with SOMEONE from Awakening, I was thinking Laslow at first, but then he felt sorta more distant from Odin and Selena when I played Conquest, then I saw Owain and Severa's S support in Awakening. And then I realized, yeah I do like these two together! Plus I have a cousin named Felicia, so I just saw Maid Felicia as my cousin, so I asked my cousin, "which of these dudes would you marry" and she picked Laslow so that settled that! And also I bet Cordelia would LOVE the fact that her granddaughter is related to Chrom. I think I potentially could see Azura and Kaze, but then people also said Azura and Jakob. I'm going have to do research.
  25. Wow, I'm off the site for a few days and this all sorta exploded... That Silas and Camilla one is interesting because then as a couple they could love me more then anyone else. That's a good thought for me. Your comic may have officially solid me on the pairing. Yeah, I think after reading everyone's thoughts I just might pair her up with Leo. GOOD! I wanted a Hoshido/Nohr royalty fling! Yeah, I've heard Xander and Charlotte before but I didn't know much what actually happened. But I like what you gotta say! So I think I'll try it out! I wanted to marry Effie to Benny! But everyone's saying if I marry her to Azama it's the only time he's not terrible... But you are saying Azama and Orochi is good, and I need to marry Orochi to someone! I LOVE HER! And I'm happy for you and Felicia! But beside the fact that I married Niles, I have a cousin who I'm close with named Felicia, so I just saw Maid Felicia as my cousin from the get-go so...
