  1. yeah that's fair I don't want google in smash either. clippy from microsoft would be cool though
  2. I'll be nice and give you a cav unit to use Makalov, naturally
  3. thanks james. i dont think its real but if it was you could just make two people with minor blood shag if you were really desperate for someone to be able to read a cool book or hold a cool stick
  4. Hey there. I had an idea for one of those "30 Day" challenges, but this time applying to Fire Emblem OCs. In short, it's a collection of common tropes/archetypes which have appeared multiple times across the Fire Emblem franchise. I don't mean to toot my own horn but this works as an art challenge and as a writing challenge, either way you can use the mediums to design a characters. I'll try to keep this as short as I can. and hey have fun
  5. I don't really see the point anymore. Why do an "experiment" to see if Lowen is good or not, but when the answer isn't a resounding "Yes he's amazing" you give up and reset?
  6. Since we get a second vote, are we allowed to choose to change an enemy? Changing one of the Black Fang bosses into something else would be nice and would make for a more unique final chapter. If we can, then make Lloyd a Sage (and put Excalibur on him instead, if possible)
  7. Nah I'm derailing this topic, did you just say that Dorcas is better than Kent?
  8. Marcus has availability and that's where he excels. Not just because you get him early, but also because he's basically necessary for use. He's near enough the exact same as Marcus in terms of stats, which is nice because it just means you have 2 Marcus, a unit who isn't really outclassed at all until you promote Lance/Alen. He's a solid unit and you can live without using him but saying he sucks is just plain wrong.
  9. Yeah nice that's literally what I just said. 1-2 range isn't an automatic "This unit is great" modifier, cause it applies to any magic, axe or lance user, no matter how good. It's just a point that it provides a lot more utility and combat potential, allowing units to operate on both phases.
  10. It's not an "automatically better". Some units have 1-2 range, like Wallace or Bartre, but that doesn't mean they're automatically better than someone like Guy or unpromoted Raven. However, you can't deny that it's a straight up advantage. I don't see how you can think, in any regard, that being able to counter any unit on enemy phase, and also being able to avoid any combat whatsoever on player phase (unless it's also a 1-2 range unit) is anything but an extreme advantage.
  11. I think it'd be a nice side story. Similar to how Hector mode gets his own set of chapters, hers could too. It could start off by having Lyn, along with the knights of Caelin (maybe you get Wallace for a few chapters) wiping out the Taliver bandits. Then, a messenger from Caelin tells them about Laus' occupation, so they travel back to Caelin which leads it directly into the Noble Lady of Caelin chapter, maybe a slightly different map but keeping the same general starting positions, possibly more to the south with Caelin castle in the middle. Wallace will probably go back to retirement and leave your party, coming back in Four-Fanged Offense. Similar in gameplay to FE9 Gatrie, really.
  12. "Blade Lord Lyn surpasses Marcus in some key areas" aka "Lyn's stats are better than Marcus' if you give her, the worst Lord with an awful promotion, your first Heaven Seal (over Eliwood, who gets the best weapon type and also a horse) after 14 entire chapters, which (other than BBD and COD) are probably the hardest bunch in HHM" I'm honestly unsure how you've managed to reach this level of delusion. I'm a sucker for using lords so I've probably used the trio every single time I've played FE7 apart from one or two times on HHM, but I genuinely don't know how someone can just ignore facts. Let's look at averages since they're the most reliable measure. Say you get Lyn to level 10 in Lyn mode, which is probably a bit high but I'll go with it. Even then she'll only have 2 stats better than Marcus and one of those is skill lmao. Lyn is just an inferior unit to him apart from growths, but unless you get blessed she has an awful start against enemies who can mostly 1RKO her. Marcus barely grows, that's right, but what you seem to be missing is that he doesn't need to grow. Lyn needs growth to actually become a spectacular unit, growth which is hard to attain due to her horrible durability. Marcus doesn't need growths cause his bases are so good they're enough to carry him 2/3 of the way through the game, and by that time he'll probably have levelled up a few times. Combine these stats with constant availability to 1-2 range. complete control over the weapon triangle and the best movement in the game until you promote Florina, and amazing availability, coming in the first, or second if Hector mode, chapter in the game. Saying that she's better when promoted is a completely non-argument. Lyn has a downright objectively awful promotion for a variation of reasons. Let's go with HHM for this cause it's the only mode where there's any difficulty whatsoever. First of all, it isn't available to you whatsoever until Chapter 26, which is roughly 2/3 of the way through the game. By this time, Lyn isn't spectacular whatsoever, being locked to the second worst weapon type and her only niche of being able to reliably double being outshined by units like Sain, Kent and Florina, but they also have actual Strength stats to back it up making them better in every way. Promoting Lyn first means you're not promoting Eliwood. This is an issue cause Eliwood has the best Lord promotion in the game, gaining access to the best weapon type in the game and also amazing movement. All she gains really is access to bows, which is the worst weapon type in Fire Emblem as a whole. They aren't too strong, they're locked to 2 range, they don't have any possible WTA, and the effectiveness means almost nothing in FE7 because it's only a 2x boost. Combine this with high defense on Wyverns, you're often better off just using an axe unit like Hector, Marcus, Sain, Kent, Bartre etc. They can tank the hits better due to overall better durability, gain a weapon triangle advantage, and often due more damage due to higher Mt on axes and higher Str on the units using them. On average, a Level 20/1 Lyn will only have 14 Strength. Combine this with an Iron Bow, the only weapon she can use without being weighed down, she'll be doing about 14x2 to the unpromoted units, let alone the promoted ones. There's just no real advantages here, it causes more problems than it fixes cause it makes Eliwood be a meh unit for longer.
  13. I've been playing with this for a week or so now and it's a great time, it's really useful to be able to randomise a ROM easily like this and not have to use an external program. Skill system also makes the experience a lot nicer. Did notice one potential issue with skills that I'll point out in a spoiler just in case.
  14. A pretty weird one I came up with was: Hector/Eliwood B support Eliwood/Fiora A support Hector/Florina A support Florina/Lyn B support Lyn/Kent A support Kent/Fiora B support I think that's it. I believe the combo of Wind/Light/Thunder/Anima (the first three all giving crit) works pretty well, and Anima at least gives extra damage, defense and avoid. For example, Eliwood gets +12.5 crit, +5 evasion, +12.5 crit evade, +7.5 hit, +1.5 attack, +1 defense. Which is all right, considering that's just base without any of his stats or weapons factored into the mix.
  15. Probably just Arcadia on Hard Mode or Battle Before Dawn HHM. I've always loved Cog of Destiny for whatever reason. Just the layout of the map, the satisfying boss, getting a Warp all makes it pretty good. Plus the main lord getting their long awaited promotion is nice. I feel like it's a fair difficulty.
  16. Without grinding in vanilla the only one which is usable really is Ross because he can easily gain his first 10 levels in a chapter (or two) and be a strong earlygame pirate. All that making the game harder would do is make Amelia and Ewan even more useless (without tons of babying in the tower). They have it hard enough as it is being completely outclassed (Amelia even outclassed by Chapter 1), difficulty will just make it worse for them.
  17. I feel like it'll be a bit harder to decide on actual team balance since, because of the randomiser, we don't know what they'll be. I guess I'll just vote for my favourite characters, let's hope that they don't all turn out to be thieves or knights or something.
