    This stupid motherfucker.flew down the chimney, and instead of flying right back up fucking crawled up and down the (artificial/gas) fireplace grating. Buzzing at me like it's MY fault homegirl (are hornets found outside generally female workers like with bees? I should look this up but am instead temporarily going with the assumption that it is so) couldn't evolve some fucking, proprioception? Whatever it is. After getting the fu out I start to go back down hoping it'll be cool if it just stays stuck AND NOW IT'S FLYING UPSTAIRS RIGHT IN THE PROXIMITY OF MY FACE. only by the grace of God did I somehow emerge from that deathtrap unscathed, I'm sure I assume the house is lost forever, of course. $300,000 down the drain. What a waste

    This kind of intervention isn't a one-way street to "good kid." You can also make them think something like, "well, maybe I AM a criminal, if the police/people around me are going to pigeonhole me like this!" Socialization is a funny thing. (Until it isn't.)

    I think part of the trouble with this, among other things that can be explained away by "tough love," is "do they address the root cause of the unwanted behavior, or do they just bludgeon it into laying low for awhile?" I can imagine winding up with a resentful kid, and wishing the one that "just" misbehaved would come back. Kids aren't necessarily in the same state of ethical, social, overall mental development etc as their parents, but they're not stupid- they pay attention to how they're treated. Unfortunately, part of what that means is that they don't always take things how we wish they would. If humiliation and threats get somebody a perfect, well-adjusted little angel when they started out with an unmanageable little terror, great for them, I guess. But I have to wonder how that kid's going to be doing a few years down the road - will he think "I would do the same for my kids," or will he think "pretty much anything -but- that would be an improvement?" Personally, I was a case that leaned a bit towards the latter sort of outcome.

    Any fool can put a joke together about tumblr/feminism, but any fool can fire back about reddit/MRAs, both making their respective crowds laugh and nod, and their opponents turn up their noses. When you lead a statement with a generalization, you're not really in a position to expect any respect back. Not successfully, anyway.

Reminded that even in ck2 there's a prestige loss penalty, but that's rarely more than a slap on the wrist. Victoria 2 being more razor-focused on politics seeks like it might handle things a little differently
