For the most part I'm not using Micaiah or Bernadetta - just hanging on to them in case something comes up where I need them. This logic is the main reason I had a million useless Units clogging up my Barracks before you guys told me about the Reserves, like my Spring Xander, who I can guarantee will only see play if I am completely out of other Units to use. I do hang on to Bernadetta almost exclusively for Resonant Battles or Limited Battles, otherwise I would probably have sacked my first one a while back. Constance is in a similar boat - she was most helpful just now when I went to clear the Resonant Battles, primarily thanks to her Trace giving her that extra move, but mostly just sits on the bench. My Brave Marth does see use, but for the most part I'm not serious enough to need merge stats on him, plus am specifically considering using him for my OG Roy that I've been systematically giving lots of things to over time so it's more part of me trying to decide if I should be splurging on a pet project character and asking if those skills are any good as part of that. I see. I mostly considered Trace worth it for the Canto, but Rein is definitely a good option considering how important Hel is to most of my pseudo-serious clears, being able to stack those AoE debuffs would be huge.

Two sets of questions, one about foddering VS merging and one about fodder preferences. First, is LMicaiah's Fury 4 or Joint Distant Guard worth foddering more than fixing a SPD Bane on either of mine? I have a +HP and a +ATK. Similarly, is Bernadetta's Lull worth sacking her more than fixing a RES Bane? Second, what's the better Skill to use a spare Constance for, A/S Far Trace or SPD/RES Rein? Also for Brave Marth, am I best off giving his DC boost plus Spurn or is the Tempest skill worth prioritizing? I also have an extra LDimitri(meaning another source of a Tempest skill) if that affects the Marth question.

I mean when you can't appreciate her without getting shamed for it by your family, or without having people automatically assume that you prefer characters with that level of design intellect, yes, that would be a bad thing. It's the same reason I can't just say Sakura is my favorite Fates royal - people just automatically assume I mean as a waifu character, then start making assumptions, I have to clarify every time I say she's my favorite that it's from the perspective of a sibling character. Camilla is a similar problem.

Camilla is probably Fire Emblem's single biggest waste of potential. They had, in the Nohrian royals in general and in her specifically, a character that they could have used to explore the realistic side of the stereotypical FE gimmick of 'lol child soldiers,' including the long-term effects that sort of thing would have on someone(Camilla seems more casual than normal for even FE about killing, which I get is just kind of how Nohr in general is portrayed but they had a real chance to explain how messed up she really is). They also had a character that would allow them to explore the idea of what children will do for love or how children whose need for love was abused see love, with, you know, any of her potential Supports, but I would especially say Niles - Niles talks about how royalty know nothing of pain or hardship, so having Camilla explain to Niles exactly what she's had to do and how she did all of it and more because she wanted the love of her parents would have been a phenomenal way to approach this topic in a setting where it made sense. We also see more evidence of her being messed up when she rubs it in Hinoka's face that, to quote, "He chose me over you. Deal with it." The woman is on her knees contemplating near-certain execution, and Camilla's just like ha suck it (censored) onii-chan loves me instead of you. What did they do with all this potential? bOOba

Ok, so definitely merge LEliwood, and merge at least one of the LSigurds, probably both, double check to see if anyone really needs the ATK/SPD Catch 4 but don't feel too bad going for the merge there, am I getting that right?

Is L-Sigurd worth foddering? I appear to have two manuals for him in addition to my actual Unit. Should I be merging him or do I want his stuff? Edit Ditto for LEliwood and Harmonic Caeda.

The what? I don't think I've heard of that. This is what I'm talking about, all this stuff that's in there I've missed. I have expanded my barracks to about 400 Units, I just have that same scarcity-hoarding mentality about Orbs that's made it hard to make it any bigger.

The main problem here is I'm saving for a Grail project right now and am still dealing with the early-player hoarding feel, you know, the "I can't afford to spare 100 Grails for just some fodder it takes way too long to earn that back" feel. I also missed getting Summer Elincia the normal way so I don't have her lying around. That said, missing Elincia meant I forgot about Whitecap so I'll earmark that for the next time I have a serious bow project come up on my queue. I mean I guess, but I don't really play any of the tiered modes for the sake of maxing out points any more, Arena kind of killed my drive to give a crap about that. This last Resonant Battles(FE4/5) was actually the first time I've gotten a perfect score and it was more like "huh, cool, Legendary Sigurd plus my Ishtar is nonsense for PvE content" than "OMG I get to go up tiers now!!!" I try to do this as much as possible, but my barracks have been getting very crowded lately, full of a large quantity of Units I'll never use. I pulled a Lewyn yesterday and was like frick I can't afford to store this thing in my barracks, I sacked the last Lewyn I had for the exact same reason. Like is my Charlotte really doing me any good when I just go to my Camilla or Rhajat every time it asks me to use a Green Fates Unit? ...It's hard because I do still have a lot of fond memories of this game, and I really love having moments where I can win with my favorites, but the game left me behind for a good half a year(two separate times) because of technical and hardware difficulties, so now I'm just trying to frantically play catchup while still in this older player mindset of "Sure, I can fight my way to the top with my OG un-Resplendented Roy, I don't need to go change out for newfangled units," when it feels like the game doesn't allow for that anymore.

Hm...I see. Checking my Thracia selection, I think for the most part losing Linde won't really matter, I have five other Red Thracias(Eyvel, Fallen Mareeta, regular Mareeta, Dance Ishtar, Kempf) and like no other Thracia Units built so they don't really have any targets, but I guess I'll hang on to them for a bit. Hm...I guess I just really like Vantage, I feel like Preempt is better than people give it credit for. Thanks for the build ideas, though, I'll take a look at my stuff and see if I have the fodder to try one out. Another question, I pulled another Catherine today. Is it worth using her and my spare Kiragi to give someone the Unbound Bow, SS3, and SPD/DEF Lull, or am I better off splitting the fodder since Unbound Bow is just SPD/DEF Lull but with a bigger debuff? ...I guess the real question is, is it worth having both Unbound Bow and a Lull on the same Unit, or does the fact that you're stacking the bonus-neutralization mean that you're better off picking another Weapon/B Skill?

I suppose. I really haven't noticed a lack of Harmonics, if I'm being honest. I don't really use Duos or Harmonics very often - in fact, after checking it looks like all four of mine on my main account are still Lv1(Linde, Caeda, Laegjarn, and the new Roy I just got for the Engage Cup freebie). Eventually I'll level them up for the Lv40 conversations and the Dragonflowers, but mostly they just sit there lost in all the Units I actually use. Yeah, that's called trying to think about a potential Mixed-Phase build. I did figure out what I wanted to do with her, which was to do a Solo build - ATK/SPD Solo 4, Rouse ATK/SPD 3, currently using Windsweep/Watersweep because I'm not sure what else to do there, hence the question about Preempt, I'm in the market for B Skills that might work better than Sweeps. The problem I'm running into is that my Ishtar is on my main team, which isn't synergized well for Solo builds, so I'm trying to figure out what would work better, and Mjolnir is clearly meant to go with Sparrow upgrades like Remote Sparrow or Swift Sparrow 3. I also don't play this game as often or as religiously as I used to, so I'm trying to get myself reoriented with all the newfangled BSery they release every other week. Not one of this year's CYL units seem exciting to me as anything other than fodder, but I have no idea who would want the shiny stuff they have more than what I already have for them since I've already done quite a bit of tricking out of the Units I love most, so I'm also trying to get a feel for the type of Unit that I actually use that could appreciate something one of those Units has.

Is it worth sacking Harmonic Linde to give Remote Surge or whatever it's called to my Ishtar? Also is it worth sacking Brave Byleth to Ishtar for the B Skill?
