  1. Even if they don't want to merge, the rewards still have good fodder. Steady stance and close def aren't exactly common skills.
  2. +3 score for killing with a bonus unit? Well fuck this. IS seems to find even more ways to fuck up arena every update.
  3. Funny thing is that harmonic lance is Wo Mao in the Japanese version. But Wo Gun on the obvious demote is a pretty good deal. First green demote in forever (since Boey) as well. Flying Dancer in the normal pool is great too but there's nothing I need here, no interesting skills or closet faves so skip for me.
  4. Askr trio refines seem underwhelming tbh Alfonse got the best base effect but TA refine isn't really worth it. Sharena gets a meh effect and a niche refine (that fits her character well though) Anna got completely shafted
  5. I'm glad to see that some characters are finally getting into Heroes, but the banner is a clean skip for me. I'm not too sure about the bond event, though I suppose some other Gachas have done similar stuff.
  6. Considering that Linus was introduced with the exact same weapon that Raven got from the refinery, I really don't see how one unit getting a legendary weapon prevents another unit that could use it from being introduced. Also, unpopular opinion but the vote splitting for Marth wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the inconsistency in his Shadow dragon and new mystery characterisation. The west seems to prefer SD Marth while Japan prefers New Mystery Marth.
  7. Grima (M) Completing the trio of DC armors, we have the final boss of awakening, who fittingly has the single highest Atk stat in the game with a superboon. All the stuff about bold fighter and steady breath also applies here, but Grima does have some unique traits due to being a dragon. He does magic damage against melee targets and adaptive damage against ranged targets, further complimenting his high Atk stat. However this comes at the cost of having the standard dragon weakness, giving him some enemies he can't engage without dying horribly (basically the falchions). Those drawbacks don't outweigh the perks of being an armor dragon so he gets a 10/10 and speaking of dragon killers, we have Chrom (TBK) Also my least liked regular pool alt but that's hardly relevant. He's the only dragon slayer that isn't infantry which gives him a niche over the others. Sealed falchion gives him +5 to all stats below full HP, syncing very well with skills like fury and brazen Atk/Spd. While a pretty amazing weapon, his stats don't exactly line up well with the weapon's effect, having mediocre speed, limiting his ability to run speed based desperation builds. His stats are actually pretty similar to the typical slow and bulky sword cavaliers, with his prf being the thing that helps him stand out. As such he doesn't have much variety in builds. Outside his niche, he has decent matchups against red and good green matchups as long as his weapon is in effect. There's still the main issue of poor first round combat before he takes damage, which is his main flaw. He's still a rather niche pick compared to Sigurd, Siegbert and Ares who have more consistent performance though his solid niche and good combat at less than full HP give him a 7/10
  8. I'm no longer tracking units I've sacrificed since that would make the list way too long Though I will include some notable sacrifices: Spring Xander, Spring Alfonse, Bride Tharja, 2x NY!Camilla and my second Hector and LA!Hector. I hated having to sacrifice the Hectors for DC (especially the seasonal one) but I didn't really care much about the others lol
  9. The first turn was obvious but the second turn had me stumped for a while. I think I tried every other possible combination of movements before getting it right.
  10. Celica The only unit on the banner that isn't a DC armor, and instead an infantry sword of all things. Her stats are good but not amazing, and her weapon is rather gimmicky, like Ragnarok, providing a boost at 100% HP but unlike falchion, doesn't have in built renewal. This gives her great first round combat but unless she has a way to heal back up, her weapon just becomes a glorified silver sword afterwards. She also lacks synergy with skills like wrath, desperation and brazen, limiting her options. I won't be considering Atk/Spd push due to my stance on seasonal exclusive skills, so she gets an 8/10 Hardin The blue DC armor. I don't think I need to elaborate on Steady breath+Bold fighter again. He has a very balanced stat spread, but unlike other balanced units, his BST allows him to pull it off. Great mixed bulk lets him tank both physical and magical hits, and a workable Atk stat lets him hit hard with bold fighter on player phase. However his best banes are -4, taking him down a scoring bin, which forces players to choose between score or stats. He does lack a broken special like Zelgius which puts him behind a little, so he scores 9.5/10
  11. iirc, the CYL 1 feh channel specified that it would be about CYL when it was announced, while this one seems more like a regular feh channel.
  12. L'Arachel She's a blue mage on a horse, which automatically means that she's going to have to compete with Reinhardt which is never a good thing. Her tome boosts Atk and Spd by 3 against full HP enemies, but her base speed is rather mediocre and she will likely fail to double quite a few enemies without +Spd IVs. She can also run blarblade like other blue mage cavalry but there are probably better candidates for it. What she does have over her competition is an actually usable Res stat allowing her to pull of ploys to reasonable success. A shame she had to be the obligatory demote on the banner. 7/10 Myrrh Trainee and Gen 2 BST boosts on a single unit is pretty dumb, giving her stats on par with gen 1 armors. Her stats are also well optimised with excellent def to make use of her weapon and good Res as well with good Atk and HP and a speed dump. Her weapon prevents follow ups which negates the drawbacks of her poor speed. With the standard kit of DC + Iote's shield, she has near perfect matchups against all colours only fearing dragon effectiveness and red bladetomes. Not only that, she is also a flier, potentially providing guidance support on top of stellar combat performance. She also has decent versatility, being able to run different sets based on team composition since it's honestly pretty hard to go wrong with her. For unsurprisingly being a meta defining unit, Myrrh gets a 10/10 (What's the point of a 10 rating if you aren't going to use it anyways?)
  13. Sothe Daggers may be crap, but at least he has some uniqueness to him. Good offensive stats, though his speed could be higher. His unique dagger allows him to buff his allies while also debuffing enemies, but the problem is that the buffs only last for that phase and not the whole turn. Either way, he still can contribute and has decent combat so he gets 6/10 Eirika The other red horse mage. She's the fastest red mage at 35 speed, allowing her to run a blade build really effectively, having pretty much perfect green matchups and near perfect red matchups when fully buffed. The only problem is she has trouble getting into desperation range due to poor bulk on both ends, but there's always fury. 8/10
  14. The first time I bought orbs I got what I wanted almost immediately. Got overconfident and did it again, only to get pitybroken twice, and it's a little scary to see how quickly the money spent just disappears. Not to mention the compulsion to just spend more of you don't get lucky. My account is locked from buying orbs at the moment due to a communication error that IS doesn't seem to know how to fix, but maybe it's for the best.
  15. Zelgius Black Knight, whale edition. Gen 2 BST, a distant counter weapon and Black Luna with bold fighter access makes him the single best red unit in the game, and his dual phase kit (Bold fighter, steady breath and QR seal) makes him one of the most versatile units, allowing him to get accelerated specials on both phases so he can charge up his broken special even faster. He has stellar performance on both phases, with his main weakness being blue magic damage and guard, and while he does want movement support, none of it is detrimental enough to deny the fact that he is one of the current meta defining units in the game, and as such, one of the very few units I'm willing to give a 10/10 Micaiah About time IS did something unique with a blue mage. Her stats are quite different from the average blue mage having great Atk and Res but poor speed, and rather than trying to surpass Linde in raw offensive stats, she instead opts to become a horse and armor deleting nuke with mage tanking capabilities as well. Thani is the first weapon to have dual effectiveness allowing her to serve as a solid anti meta unit. However her matchups are shaky if she doesn't have effective damage. She usually runs death blow for maximum nuking potential or CC vantage to take out multiple horses and armors on enemy phase. QR seal can also be run to take out enemy mages as well. Overall, her unique niche and good combat capabilities make her a solid 8/10
  16. Tempest orbs got me a 4* +Atk -Def Ares, someone I've been wanting for a while. Instantly promoted.
  17. I'm giving it to my +Spd Raven. Maybe I'll throw in galeforce as well.
  18. As far as achievement icons go, the priority for selecting the chibi seems to be OC>Lord>Alt If it isn't a new OC, no lord has pink hair which leaves it likely to be an alt. The character definitely has a ponytail which further narrows down the possibility. From what can be seen, Olivia seems likely, but who knows. It's definitely not CYL, that's for sure
  19. Shiro Pretty much just premium Lukas, but his Atk is boosted by sturdy stance which means he's less dependent on special procs to kill his targets. He also has higher speed to avoid doubles, but at the cost of having less def and HP. Higher speed could also be seen as a drawback due to charging specials slower. But overall he's not different enough from Lukas, having similar matchups and weaknesses so he also gets a 7/10 Rhajat A very standard offensive green mage that once again doesn't manage to outdo Nino at the bladetome role due to lesser speed. She also has less Res meaning she doesn't tank Reinhardt as well either. Bladetome still gives her good combat performance like always but there isn't any reason to use her over Nino, even without taking availability into account. So she gets the standard "mediocre bladetome mage" rating of 6.5/10
  20. I still remember my first promotion well since it was Lilina. I promote quite a lot of GHB units though I don't use them much and sometimes even use them as second hand SI. Xander and Camus were promoted when horse emblem was the meta, but I did end up sacrificing Xander when I ran out of QR fodder, and Camus just died today to pass on fury 3 and reposition to Groom Marth. Even my first GHB promote, Michalis is on thin ice due to having hone fliers and reposition inherited. Though I do have a more sentimental reason for keeping him as he was my only green unit for the longest time. My main reasoning is that it wouldn't be that hard to just promote and build another with less valuable skills if I ever needed to use them again. Lyon and Arvis are pretty safe as is Linus since I still use them, but I still don't know what made me promote Julius of all units. Takumi is holding on to fury and desperation so he's in a risky spot. Berkut died to give LA!Eliwood his lance. Zephiel has nothing valuable so he's safe as well.
  21. Well, when most of your favourites are 5* exclusive, you don't really have much of an option. Though unless they have very valuable SI (RIP my spare Hectors), I will merge spare copies if I randomly get them, but I won't spend my saved up orbs rolling specifically for more copies to merge. Not to mention that 5* exclusives tend to have niches that make them more fun to use than potential promotion merge projects.
  22. Siegbert Minmaxed stats for an offensive sword horse, and in swift sparrow makes him the single best player phase sword cavalry unit in the game. With horse buffs he easily doubles most units and has enough physical bulk to tank most counterattacks. With the heavy blade seal he can even pull off brave Roy's galeforce niche better than the former due to better offensive stats and gen 2 BST. He does struggle against tanks and weapons that block follow ups and can't take a magic hit to save his life but it's nothing that other swords don't also struggle with. The main drawbacks to him are a poor enemy phase and trenches. 8/10 (I still don't like how he powercrept B!Roy though) Soleil 38/35 is actually pretty nuts for an infantry sword, and probably the best statline for an infantry sword unit without a unique weapon. She doesn't bring anything unique to the table aside from better combat performance than other no prf swordies and those with lackluster prfs. But her lack of uniqueness means she's stuck at a 7/10
  23. Now that I think about it, S!Corrin and Gaius are probably bonus units here because they were last year's summer gauntlet finalists.
  24. Well, considering that they haven't posted a notification about the glitch, they probably don't consider this a serious problem and likely won't punish anyone for exploiting it. Because I'm pretty sure IntSys is already well aware of it.
