  1. That's what I'm doing right now... Its stupid funny to watch BlarBlade Ursula rip green faces clean off. Or Xander Quick Riposte bonfire blues... so tasty. Wrong Book MB!
  2. You can use Ursula or Olwen very effectively. I have all three (Neutral Reinhart, Olwen and Ursula). Without +Atk or +Speed Olwen they are very close. If your Olwen has +atk or +spd I would use her. If you have Blarblade+ Ursula is fantastic with Calvary buffs and I would consider using her. Personally I use Ursula because I like her art and voice the best. I have her with the following: Blarblade+ Ardent Sacrifice Moonblow Deathblow 3 (replacing with Life or Death 3 later) Desperation 3 (may replace with Vantage 3 later) Hone Cavalary With that build Ursula easily replaces Reinhardt and outpaces him in some situations when she has both sets of Calvary buffs.
  3. You have to be careful when running with non level 40 characters. Doing so often results in really crazy matchups... many of which are painfully unfair. Since the last set of bans though my matchups have been fine. The worst I saw was a 4star +10 merged Cecelia with Gronblade, Fury3, and Vantage. She was just so freaky bulky with those merges, fury and buffs. The map was horrible for the encounter and blade greenmages can prove problematic for my current comp. So that was painful.
  4. I ran the numbers on all three of them using the matchup calculator both with defaults, vs fury, vs +Spd, +Atk, etc. Reinhardt, Olwen and Ursula and quite frankly they come out very close depending primarily on how many buffs they have AND what A slot you are comparing. As Icedragon has stated before Ursula +Speed with Dire or Blade totem will win out with the highest coverage and most kills when the highest number of damage/defensive buffs are available. Blarblade Ursula comes in very close second and will often have near identical or identical coverage to blade totem Olwen. +Att Reinhardt will win out in situations where defensive buffs are available but not offensive or no buffs are available. Its notable that Olwen and Reinhardt with Dire Thunder have very bad counter/bait support. Blarblade provides much better counter support on all of them. The questions really hit when you don't have a +Atk Reinhart or +Atk+Spd Olwen. In either of these situations Ursula with Blarblade will win out with the best coverage given +Atk and +Spd support. But again, when the buffs fall a neutral Reinhart with Deathblow 3 will outpace Ursula with better coverage (but terrible counter/bait support). So ultimately if you are running a horse team with +Atk and +Spd available there is very little difference in their performance. It really becomes a choice of who you have available, if you have the right boons/banes, if you have the right team support, the right inheritance support, and finally how you want the units to respond defensively. Some of these choices are marginal, while others are extremely significant.
  5. I'm in tier 17 and moving to 18 next week. I concur with others I'm fighting with adjusting my comp with feathers or starting merges. I really want to start with merges but my comp has a gap right now. Essentially I have Cecilia (Gronraven) and Reinhardt doing the damage. Which gives my insta death for Red, Blue and Colorless but leaves me vulnerable to green mages specifically blade ones. Xander will counter kill most green mages but blade mages are dangerous. At this point I'm realizing it would be optimal for me to change Cecilia to Gronblade, Fury, Vantage and make a Reinhardt or Ursula Blarraven, Triangle Adept. That way the two mages cover each other leaving no ranged coverage gap. But I can't complain much... horse emblem for the lazy people.
  6. That's exactly what I did and I don't regret it. 9/10 Xander wants the fortify more than any other buff, and his ranged allies want the juicy damage/speed buff he can provide. I gave Cecilia Fortify and Xander Hone. I don't regret it at all.
  7. Smited him across the river... that is hilarious... 10 points! I did not know you could smite units across water thanks for the tip ;-) Cecilia destroys this group too with her default tomb and triangle adept. She tears the archers and blue units to shreds.
  8. I was doing the math on Elise this morning on a horse team... and she could be really... really scary. None the less that is a super impressive Serra. She'd be a tough kill given her Resistance and speed.
  9. That is a really spectacular character summary. Very nicely written thanks for the interesting read MrSmokestack! Will have to read your other character summaries!
  10. I agree with you on the emulators to some extent. Being the majority of players on emulators are simply playing the game. I'll admit its a tricky hill though. By blocking emulator users and root users you eliminate many users at the source. Its unquestionably harder to hack the game on a non rooted android device. I'm not sure how I feel about the issue. Especially since as you pointed out. Most of our HD videos come from emulation captured devices, not hardware.
  11. Yeah QR 2 is great on Xander. Actually I'm falling over laughing right now. I'm facing Azura with Zander... who has Saphire lance so a red coming at her has a 0.6 modifier... well I haven't replaced blazing light yet and poor Azura is going to get oneshotted by Xander... Triangle failure for the win! Honestly after playing with Xander quiet a bit since his release I think people are crazy to put Fury 3 on him. From what I've seen in normal play he takes much less damage with +2 Attack/Def. On the other hand this means you have to have a Spring Chrom laying around.. but its so worth the sacrifice.
  12. I've heard the same from previous posts here. Though its interesting to actually see a post from Nintendo. Personally I will not play this game on bluestacks or a rooted phone (and I use bluestacks a bit and swear by it as being one of the best emulators for andriod game play). I would skip buying orbs on bluestacks though, or sharing access to your phone account with bluestacks. Better safe than sorry. I would love to hug Nintendo for hunting hackers here though. They really dampen the game, and the arena is quite fun.
  13. I agree desperation is a good option. I want to get Ursula setup with Desperation and Life or death on my Cavalry team. Her speed is juicy with Hone and her attack is crazy high. On the other hand with this type of investment you may want to save orbs and go for Olwen +Spd or +Atk. Its probably a wash between any of their combinations though. Your target is most likely going to explode regardless with Blarblade. The other thing you can do with your B slot is ask, what can't you kill. When Reinhardt considers this same question the issue of what he can't kill usually hits with spear users. Some spear users have either high Resistance, High speed, or both. Just like Reinhardt's Deathblow doubletap, Ursula or Olwen will sometimes either not do enough damage in one blow or fail to get two blows against a spear user. The simplest solution is run Spearbreaker. So Spearbreaker or Desperation are solid options On Ursula or Olwen with Blarblade.
  14. Thanks. I was in a weird mood and decided to marker up the post. I'm enjoying my horse emblem too much right now. Its overly easy to build with a wad of feathers.. given so many core members, one from each color are literally handed out to us. Well... Xander was a bit of a tough fight for his 4 star unit. But so worth it! I agree on the lack of red magic and the fun thought of LoD Brave ;-). I forgot about Cain being decent. My friend loves her Peri though, with that crazy hair ;-) Awesome Scarlet. Xander is really sexypants. I honestly haven't had to give him a B slot yet even with his horrible speed, because his defense is just so darn high. And my Cecilia passes +6 Def/Res to him so he literally takes no damage from most melee reds and all greens. I do have to say the choice between Fury and SChroms +2 Def/Attack was super hard... Personally the +2Def/Attack was the right choice, because Cecilia stays glued to his butt. But I can definitely see where Fury can be comical when Xander gets +4 Attack/Speed and or +6 Attack/Speed buffs. I used Gunter for a while while building up my horse team and he's actually not that terrible. He would actually be pretty darn good with Distant counter and an Emerald Axe... but I don't really need that roll with Cecilia running amok. GL on your team!
  15. Strange none the less very nice on the wins! I'm suspecting mixing some of my vantage nastygrams in with my horse emblem may make a better overall defense... but who knows. Today is weird.
  16. Depends on who else is on your horse team. Honestly speaking you probably want them both from my experience. From my experience horse emblem has the following core members available: Best Mounted Melee: Xander/Eliwood/Eldigan (red sword) - Xander has built in ranged counter and very high attack/defense making him likely the best mounted red sword unit in the game. He can tank most red and all green physical damage like its nothing and still counter kill Nino. Titania/Frederick/Gunter (green axe) - From what Ice Dragon has shown if you use an Emerald Axe and Distant counter you turn any of these three into blue killing machines. +Atk, +Spd or +Res Titania is probably the best alongside +Atk/+Def Frederick. Titania essentially becomes queen of magical counter killing, while Frederick stands Knight alongside Xander for melee counter killing. Abel/Peri (blue Lance) - Blue melee are probably the weakest of all horse emblem. +Atk Abel can hold his ground though with some nice brave attacks. +Atk +Spd or +Res Peri might be able to pull off Sapphire Lance and Distant counter and be a queen of magic counter killing like Titania. Mounted Mages: Leo (red mage) - Leo can make a good Raudrblade user. He does not have as much Attack as Cecilia or Reinhardt. And he has much less speed than Olwen and Usula (so he isn't a great double blade user either). So he's probably the least awesome of the mounted blade users. Cecilia (green mage) - She is the only mounted green mage and can Gronblade with her super high attack for the most damaging oneshot hits in the game (only outmatched by SCamilla using Gronblade+FlierEmblem). Or Cecilia can use Gronraven and Triangle Adept 3 to invalidate Blue and Grey units, oneshotting almost all with no buffs and tanking their hits with relative ease. Olwen, Reinhardt, Ursula (blue mage) - Its a wash between the three. Reinhardt is the most independent with dire and higher attack, Olwen can quad dire though with the right stats and Life or Death. Likewise Ursula and Olwen can easily perform double blarblade hits with life or death making them absolutely terrifying. Out of them all I think Xander, all the blue mages and Cecilia are the most stand out units. They do their jobs exceptionally well and require the least investment. Titania likewise can be incredible, but you have to sacrifice a Hector on her.
  17. I'm extremely curious what your defense team looks like. Its making me wonder if having Cecilia outfront is indeed causing people to simply skip my team over. I flipped Zephiel infront for the time being.
  18. I concur. I REALLY like what they have done with the skill sets in Hero's. I think they have actually evolved matchups better than the base games ever did. By simplifying some parts of the games (mages restricted to ranged), movement restrictions, stat alignments, etc they have effectively created balance in all parts of the game where it didn't exist in the original fire emblems. I think the effects of buffs in these games consequently is much more distinct. Speed for instance seems much more balanced since characters are distinctly bracketed at max level. And the leveling ramp likewise makes speed more distinct along with the effects of speed buffs. Likewise the effects of blade tombs and their impact on gameplay is great. Your blade mage cries when they are buffless and destroys when they have their buffs. I absolutely would like to see more of these effects in future base games.
  19. Brash Assault could also be used on Xander or Nowi (users with a distant counter and low speeds). This effectively lets them tank a dangerous ranged counter (counter killing the unit but hitting under 50% hp) and then proceed to offensively double units (using their high defense to tank through despite at 50% health). As you noted this isn't exactly ideal since you are likely better off running something like Quick Riposte and healing them up afterward if possible. And hitting below 50% health can be tricky even when its your intention. Windsweep would have been nice on fast healers. Its extremely ironic they blocked healers from using this skill... since it would have at LEAST let fast healers apply debuffs or do some tap damage on turns they don't need to heal. Talk about healer hatred.
  20. I suffered this problem during the Spring banner. I drew 6... @#$%#$%#$ Spring Chroms and not a SINGLE Camilla. Suffice to say I was upset. I did not break down and pay out... because quite franking I think Nintendo is asking entirely too much. I should have probably popped 50 dollars just to say I've payed to cover my current playtime. But I'm still hoping for a monthly deal of some sort.
  21. I would just do this with your skills and use level 3 for the rest: In terms of skills you would want to disable in theory. Lilina's special won't be very good on defense. Nino's A slot resistance (he should have some kind of fury/attack/deathblow there instead). Ninian's escape route while unpredictable probably will not activate often... none the less I would keep the skill just in hope of a few random screw ups which mess with the other team. If you add any Sword/Axe/Lance/Tomb breaker skills to your characters those function great at level 1 (most B skills operate this way). So if you pickup any B skills like this I would run them at level 1. Until you start finding a mix of skills and characters that pull in at least one kill each week. Hawk Kings assessment on your skills is spot on. Good news is out of your 5 star characters I listed the only one who has a bad roll is Lilina with her -Attack+Def... on the bright side she still will have an impressive 50 attack. and will do 60 damage to Greens - their Resist. So she should oneshot quite a few. She's still a better option than your others. In terms of improving your current comp Linde would be a great addition to your current team. She's the blue female mage draw for the next 10 days. She's exceptionally dangerous and would benefit pairing with Ryoma and Nino really well. If you were to get her I would essentially pass a Spur Atk 3 to her for her C slot and let her and Nino be the danger twins.
  22. You want a few things when building a good defense team. 1) Characters that are difficult to kill safely: Melee with ranged counter or Ranged with close counter are great. Brave and Dire weapons are scary and can score kills. Dance is unpredictable and often results in killing someone. High mobility (horse units) are great at causing problems. And finally having at least two high damage ranged units significantly threatens melee/tank compositions. 2) Teams with good synergy: All of one color is often easy to kill unless those units are back breakers (4 Hectors for instance is really painful for most people to clear safely), instead having a good mix of colors is good. Having a good assortment of buffs (attack and speed) helps generate kills. Likewise having a good assortment of movement/speed/attack assists helps generate unpredictably and causes your team to stay clumped together more (rather than running off doing their own job). 3) Reducing your overall team points means you will fight people who are less generally less skilled at the game: Reducing team points is simple, using 4 star characters that are well designed, mixing 4 star with key 5 star threats, or equipping skills they don't need. Alternatively you can use the lower level version of the skill (Swordbreaker 1 is nearly as useful as swordbreaker 3 for instance). Quite a few mages don't need B slots to still tear faces off. Looking at your units I can roughly see the problem you're facing. Nino can be unreliable in the arena (due to buff spreading). Likewise Gordin is highly reliant on attack power (if your Gordin is +Atk then he may be worth having on defense otherwise I would skip him. This puts your highest threats as Ryoma and Lilina. Ninian having dance is fantastic and potentially worth a slot. The question for me would be should you run Camilla or Nino. Glancing at buff coverage With Ryoma, Lilina and Ninian, Nino would get buffs from anyone in which case I would give this a try. Camilla with her brave weapon can be highly dangerous, but I find fliers to be very predictable and easy to bait (making them generally bad for defense unless you have a full flier team transferring buffs). So I would try Ninian as your lead, Ryoma in the middle, Nino third, and Lilina last. In theory this will result in Ninian throwing Ryoma out front frequently with two ranged off to his side tailing him. This should generate a moderately threatening composition capable of pulling in some kills. In terms of skills you would want to disable in theory. Lilina's special won't be very good on defense. Nino's A slot resistance (he should have some kind of fury/attack/deathblow there instead). Ninian's escape route while unpredictable probably will not activate often... none the less I would keep the skill just in hope of a few random screw ups which mess with the other team.
  23. Thanks I forgot Xander will be bonus in the arena the next week or two! Interesting thoughts. You're right about Cecila being in front = horse emblem. I suppose one option for defense would be to put someone who strongly benefits horse emblem but isn't mounted. Perhaps a dancer Ninian, Olivia or Azura. Or you could throw up a buff unit like Erika. Or you could add more back row neutral support with an a good archer up front. I think the best option though for baiting people in would be to have a horse healer out front =-) In all likelyhood you'll still destroy someone in the following battle!
  24. She sounds soooo lovely built like that. I'm debating about replacing my neutral Reinhardt with Ursula Blarblade. It becomes a question of do I want to spend 20k to properly give Reinhart Deathblow 6... or would I prefer to go all in 40k and do Ursula Blarblade. I think technically I would be better of just giving Reinhart a simple A slot for now... and saving my orbs and feathers while trying to hunt an Olwen though.
  25. I find the game has lots to offer. But I'll admit I want more. Personally I would like to see more game modes. I would love for them to add an endless dungeon... team of four going down! Likewise this would be fun both as PvE and a PvP mode. Especially if you don't heal up between maps. There are some really awesome modes they can and SHOULD add.
