I generally don't mind experience level systems in RPGs. I find it satisfying when I hit certain level benchmarks. Of course, I also have a thing for games that eschew the experience point system in favor of nontraditional leveling methods. The Sphere Grid in FF10 comes to mind. I also like the kind of character progression mechanics you see in games like Metroid, so if experience points went the way of the dodo and were replaced with those systems I wouldn't mind so much.

You mean they haven't been discontinued since December? Nintendo NY is about half an hour away from where I work, and every other week they distribute wristbands for customers to buy the NES Classic. Of course, by the time I see the tweet announcing they're giving away wristbands, they sell out. I guess there's no chance of ever getting one at a reasonable price now.

I'm on the third dungeon so far. Just about everything in this game is a tremendous step up in quality from P3 and P4. I get a lot of Persona 2 vibes from this game and that's always nice. In many ways I can't help but feel Hashino went back to the roots of Persona and combined it with the modern sensibilities of P3 and P4. That might be why we have Not!Lisa and Not!Jun as party members... The pacing in the beginning was a big turn-off, but it's gotten into a much more palatable rhythm. So far I love each of the individual "episodes" in the story. They're super engaging and well-written. I have high expectations for the rest of the game. The introduction to the Temperance confidant was also genuinely funny. 10/10

Hey all. I've been thinking about making an account here for a while but I get distracted so easily that I kept forgetting. I go by the name Midoro and even though I've been acquainted with the Fire Emblem series since the mid 2000s, it wasn't until recently that I became a big fan of the series. My first game, interestingly, was Radiant Dawn, which I (struggled) to finish without ever having touched Path of Radiance. I haven't played any of the Japan-only releases, but I've played pretty much all of the English-translated games, with the exception of the third Fates story. I'm hoping to get into the Japan-only ones once I get the time to. I'm also greatly looking forward to Echoes. Fire Emblem also helped ignite my love for strategy games. I've been playing a little more chess lately, although I'm not particularly good at it. Here's hoping for some fun times ahead.
