  1. how 2 brave lyn: a study in fairness and balance  [Infernal/Lunatic/Hardlol guide]

    Spoiler

Since we'll be using the highest skill strategy to have ever been conceived, please be aware this guide is for big boys only.

Please note that the skills I list are the exact ones I used, you may be able to optimize sets if you feel so inclined.

    The A Lyn team:

Brave Lyn @ Brave Bow+. Swift Sparrow 3/Sacae's Blessing/whatever you want rly it doesn't matter. SS: [not needed but attack+ could help if your lyn has a -atk nature. Special: Luna [moonbow also works, but it has to be one of these two]

Footnotes: Lyn will need at least 40 attack [before swift sparrow 3 and buffs] in order to kill Arvis, but that's about it. If you just want to beat Lunatic, a brave bow on its own will be just fine. I used a neutral IV [CYL free 5-star] 40+1 Lyn [pulled a +res/-atk], but all you need is the atk requirement, as Arvis WILL be able to kill Lyn if you don't ORKO him.

Azura @ Sapphire Lance +. Darting Blow 2/WoM 2/Hone Speed 2. SS: HP +3/4/5. Special: Moonbow. [skills aside from hone spd don't matter since Azura won't be fighting anything ever that isnt a sword unit and we know how that one always goes]

Footnotes: Azura can be subbed for any dancer capable of tanking the Red Mage on the right, such as Ninian. Hone speed is important, as it lets you quad a few enemies, but you're mainly using her to tank a hit from the Red Mage.

    P!Olivia @ Dancer's Fan +. Distant Def 2/Escape Route 1/Hone Attack 1. SS: Spd +1/2/3. Special: N/A.

Footnotes: This is your second dancer that you'll need to tank the Red Mage. Replacing her is possible, but you're gonna want someone who can take a hit from the mage and then get into escape route range. P!Olivia will need at least 22 Res [after Distant Def] and 27 HP.

Olivia @ idk you arent gonna fight anything with her. all she needs is hone attack 2 and dance and thats it never let this sinnamon roll fight.

Turn 1: Position your units like so:

    P!Olivia      Olivia

    Azura         B!Lyn

Have Lyn move one space down and kill the blue mage. Olivia dances for Lyn ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Lyn moves one space in front of the lance cav and kills it. P!Olivia dances for Lyn. Lyn moves one space in front of Arvis and kills the axe cav. Azura dances for Lyn. IMPORTANT: Lyn needs to move one space up and across from Arvis' position so that she doesn't get affected by the Red Mage's attack smoke. Kill Arvis, end turn. Red Mage attacks P!Olivia and puts her in Escape Route range.

Turn 2: Your Units should look like this:

    Empty space     Olivia

    P!Olivia          Empty Space

    Azura             Empty Space

    Empty Space   Empty Space

    Empty Space     Lyn

Have Lyn move one space to the left of the blue mage and kill it. Have P!Olivia dance for Lyn and kill the red mage. Have Olivia dance for Lyn and kill the Lance cav. Have Azura dance for Lyn and kill the Axe cav. Your units should be making a -l shape with Lyn at the bottom, P!Olivia at the center, Olivia on the top ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and Azura on the left.

Turn 3: Kill the red mage. Have Azura dance for you and hit the axe knight. Have Olivia dance for you and do it again. Have P!Olivia ER to you so you can gtfo next to Olivia.

Turn 4: Move Olivia down two spaces and do the same with P!Olivia. Hit the Axe knight with Lyn. Have Azura dance for Lyn, move her to where P!Olivia was, and then kill the Axe knight.

Turn 5: Have Azura attack the sword knight, and then attack it with lyn. Have Olivia dance for you, and kill the sword knight. Have P!Olivia ER next to Azura, so your units should look like this:

    B!Lyn   Azura

    Olivia   P!Olivia

Turn 6: Kill the red mage, have Azura dance for Lyn, and then kill the blue mage. Move P!Olivia and Olivia next to Lyn so your units look like this:

    Azura

    Olivia   B!Lyn

                P!Olivia

Turn 7: Have Azura attack the Sword knight, attack it with Lyn, have either Olivia dance ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and then kill the sword knight. End turn.

Turn 8: Have Lyn attack the Axe Knight. Have Olivia dance and attack it again. Have Azura dance and attack it again. Have P!Olivia escape route righT IN FRONT OF THE AXE KNIGHT NO FEAR ANd have her dance for lyn and kill the knight.

Turn 9: there is no turn 9 you won on turn 8.

enjoy ur Arvis and 2000 feathers.

    __________________________________________________

    Unit: Legault, The Hurricane

Help Description: Prominent member of the original Black Fang. Sly and sarcastic, but caring at heart. Hates the corrupt. Appears in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.

    Summoned Quote:

"Well, this doesn't seem like a Dragon's Gate to me... I suppose you summoned me here? Can't say you know how to pick em', but since you asked, the name's Legault. Guess I'll fight for you now."

    Status Screen Quotes:

    [3S]: "I'm called the Hurricane, y'know, cause I'm fast."
[3S]: "I miss the old Fang..."
[3S]: "Don't know why you chose me of all people, but I won't complain."
    [3S]: "Pfffffft."
[4S]: "In the Black Fang, I was the *ahem* House Cleaner. Awful job."
[4S]: "I'm not the strongest or the smartest, but I fight the dirtiest."
[5S]: "Lloyd, Linus, Uhai, and poor little Nino..."
[5S]: "My oh my... Fools aplenty. That includes me, too."

    Home Screen Quotes:

"What's on your mind? As the de facto leader of this merry band, I can't have you going and working yourself to death, now can I?"
"Don't worry, as long as I'm on your side, I won't rob this castle blind. Probably."
"I've heard disturbing rumors that our enemy is being controlled by a greater force. I only hope these are false, otherwise, I don't know if I could do my job."
"Back in my world, I used to be a member of a band of mercenaries called the Black Fang. Until a sorceror named Nergal tainted the group beyond repair."
"Have you seen a little girl about this tall, with bright green hair recently? She's sorta like a niece to me, since her 'mother' was an insufferable witch."

    Confession:

"Ah, (Player), just the summoner I wanted to see. You've made quite the effort in giving me a good time here, and for that, I'm thankful. You know, I've been called a number of things over the span of my career, including, but not limited to... Ah, what's the point. I came to say thank you. Not many people would go out of their way to help a vagabond like me, but you're different. As long as you stay on the path you're on, I'll keep serving you without any hesitation. But if an old man with a strange hat and an eyepatch is wandering around, do tell me before anyone else."

    Leveling Up:

"Please stop laughing." (+0, +1 Points)
"Not sure what you expected." (+2, +3 Points)
"Let's see them outrun me now!" (+4, +5 Points)

    Turn Action:

    "On it."
    "Sure."
    "Why not?"

    Critical/Special Trigger Quotes:

"And a one, and a two, and a-"
    "Looks like you slipped up."
    "Time to clean house."
    "No use running."

    Death Quote:

    "Oops."

Base form: Sharpened Winds (Same as Windrunner but with a 4 charge CD). Ignis/Glacies/Dragon Fang form: Windblade (Same as Sharpened Winds but with a multiplier of 1.5).

    A: N/A
B: Seal Spd 3 [After combat, foe suffers Spd-7 through its next action]

    __________________________________________________

Comments: Since there are so many units that utilise one stat over their others in conjunction with skill such as Bonfire, Iceberg, and Draconic Aura, I felt that speed was quite left out of the equation. So, I decided to rework my previous Legault concept with a greater emphasis on being able to outspeed your enemy, and then being rewarded for doing just that. Please leave your comments and suggestions below, and thank you for looking at this hero concept!

    Unit: Lute, Conceited Genius

Help Description: A brilliant student and magical progidy from Serafew. Self-centered and quite eccentric, but a normal girl at heart. Appears in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.

    Summoned Quote:

"Aha! It seems you too, fell victim to my enticing genius. I'm Lute, the most brilliant mage you've ever met. You should be honored to have me in your service."

    Status Screen Quotes:

[3S]: "Sometimes I really miss Serafew..."
[3S]: "Oh? Is this some kind of poke projection magic?"
[3S]: "I'm just too brilliant for my own good."

[5S]: "My favorite hobby is monk-watching. You should try it sometime if you summon one."

[Player], summoner for the Order of Heroes and wielder of Breidablik?" Alright then, [Player]-summoneer-for-the-Order-of-Heroes-and-wielder-of-Breidablik."
"Hypothetically speaking, if there was a monk you were hypothetically interested in, how would you approach him? Ah-hypothetically, of course."

"I've been told that I'm... less educated in areas outside of academics and magic."

    Confession:

"You know, [Player], I've never been much for people. They always think that all I care about is myself, that all I'm good for is magic. But you, you aren't like that at all. Yes, you are one of two people I've met who are deserving of my praise! If you believe your path to be right, even if others would say otherwise, you should keep following your own instinct instead. Everyone has his or her own talent. I figure the path you are taking now is appropriate for you - no, for all of us."

Comments: wowo lookie who came back to make another unit concept™. Lute's kit revolves around her above-average Def stat for a mage in conjunction with Bonfire, Armored Blow, and Gronnsteed. Her HP stat is slightly off because I figured a multiple of 5 would be best for simplicity's sake here. Please leave your comments and suggestions below, and thanks for looking at this concept! next one coming soon™.

Ooooooh, so the point of the Skill is to remove the debuff innate to the Manen tome? And it could be used for on... well Dire Thunder to remove the -Speed penalty, except not because you specified Flux as a prereq? (i don't think another tome comes with a debuff). So the overall effect is that you either have a chances of making 0 damage, or have a chance of making devastatingly high damage... huh.

It kind of feel needlessly complicated and inelegant overall. Trying to mimic "explosive" damage that way is interesting though.

Well, my idea was to make more dark mages who have tomes with similar effects so that Eldritch Acumen has more potential applications. To give you a sense of how much damage a hit of Månen+ would do to a unit with and without the Eldritch Acumen debuff removal, here are some matchups: [All IV's are neutral because calculating + and - Res would make me go insane]

    Spoiler

    Linde:

    27 Res at level 40.

Without EA: 20 Damage x1; With EA: 21 Damage x1-2  [Yeesh, weapon disadvantage is harsh]

    Takumi:

    18 Res at level 40.

Without EA: 27 Damage x1; With EA: 32 Damage x1-2

    Hector:

    19 Res at level 40.

Without EA: 25 Damage x1; With EA: 35 Damage x1-2

    Julia:

    32 Res at level 40.

Without EA: 26 Damage x1; With EA: 32 Damage x1-2

    Tharja:

    20 Res at level 40.

Without EA: 26 Damage x1; With EA: 31 Damage x1-2

    Ryoma:

    21 Res at level 40.

Without EA: 25 Damage x1; With EA: 30 Damage x1-2

Of course, this is without any external buffs, skill inheritance, so on and so forth.

I continue to love how you write detailed quotes for everything. Very nice voice for Canas :DD

31 speed actually feels like a little much for him -- i know it's not much compared to competitive speed in the arena and such, but it's a very decent number for a character I tend to view as a little bit on the slow side. Might prefer him with a bit of a high Att instead. The rest of his stats are fine.

I'm not very good at assessing how much power that Manen tome has. It seems a bit complicated (-5 att AND only 1 Mt as a + tome? Isn't that super low? Does the Res/3 suffice to compensate for it??), but I have no eyes for that kind of eyeballing numbers. Eldritch Acumen leaves me similarly at a loss about judging how efficient it is. I'm not sure it's great to have something to get rid of debuff to yourself by attacking (like, usually debuff are taken into account before attacking, right?).

Just to clarify how Eldritch Acumen works, the Atk stat used in the calculation is the one that factors in the debuff, which is why the multiplier is there. However, once Eldritch Acumen activates successfully, in Canas' case, the Atk -5 and "Cannot make follow-up attacks" debuffs are removed for the duration of the battle. This triggers whenever combat is initiated, even if Canas is the one being attacked.

[also advwiufgweufiu thank you so much ;-;]

    Spoiler

    Unit: Canas, Seeker of Wisdom

Help Description: An endlessly studious practitioner of the dark arts. Believes that the pursuit of knowledge is the most noble aspiration. Appears in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.

    Summoned Quote:

"Oh dear, I seem to have wandered off again. Ah, did you summon me here? In that case, my name is Canas, and I am a humble practitioner of the ancient arts. I can assist you on the field of battle, if you so desire."

    Status Screen Quotes:

[3S]: "Ah! Apologies, I was lost in thought."
[3S]: "Why are you poking me? Is this how you communicate here?"
[3S]: "You know, dark magic is not inherently evil."
    [3S]: "Hmm..."
[4S]: "I wonder how Hugh and my wife are doing...."
[4S]: "My my, so many wonderful mages here! I wonder what I could learn from them."
[5S]: "One day, I fear I will delve too deep into dark magic, and then, well..."
[5S]: "Would you like to take a look at this tome? Anything I can do to help another seek wisdom, I shall."

    Home Screen Quotes:

"Teaching illuminates the minds of both master and student... I will teach you everything I can!"
"Ah! Is this book yours? I'm sorry to keep you from it, it just seemed so fascinating... Oh, I can borrow it? Your kindness is much appreciated, friend!"
"Fascinating... This world seems to contain much the same fauna and flora as are found in mine... Could you perhaps tell me about the different animals and plants that are native here?"
"Please tell me you haven't seen a large man with spiky ginger hair named Bartre. What?! You have?! Please, tell me when he comes in this direction, all he does is make loud grunting noises and asks if I'm insulting him!
"Perchance, do you happen to know if there are morphs in this world? What is a morph? They are human effigies created by a sorceror named Nergal, with eyes of gold and hearts of ice."

    Confession:

"You know, I find this place quite fascinating! Back in my world, I was seen as too studious for my own good, constantly told that dark magic was a waste of my time, to pursue Anima magic instead. However, dark magic runs in my family. My brothers delved too deep into the darkness, and well... They live and breathe. Their eyes open and shut. However, they do not move, and they do not speak. I fear that one day, the same will happen to me. Ah, enough misery talk for now. I'm quite certain that as long as you're here to command me, I'll not fall victim to the temptation of the abyss."

    Levelling Up:

"Misfortunate, but inevitable." (+0, +1 Points)
    "As expected." (+2, +3 Points)
    "What a wonderful miscalculation!" (+4, +5 Points)

    Turn Action:

    "Of course."
    "Guide me."
    "Posthaste!"

    Critical/Special Trigger Quotes:

    "Now, what if I-"
    "This should work..."
    "Knowledge is power!"
    "Be forgotten by history!"

Comments: Once again, basing Canas off of how he was in Blazing Sword, with a high enough Spd stat to not get doubled by most characters, yet not quite high enuogh to double for himself when carrying heavier tomes [As shown through Månen]. Månen is based off of the Luna tome from Blazing Sword, but I figured having Luna as both a weapon and a special would be confusing [If I'd named it Luna his special would have 10000% been Luna so that you could Luna with Luna equipped for some Luna on Luna action]. Please tell me what you think about Månen and Eldritch Acumen, and leave any requests for the next unit concept as well!

  7.  Hey all!

As you may or may not have noticed, the Lloyd Grand Hero Battle went live this morning, and several in-depth community guides have been released for how to beat the lunatic difficulty. However, there is a small caveat. 99.9% of said guides involve a broken deathbot Hector, and I believe that I am not alone in saying I do not own a Hector. I've tried many other replacements, but Fae, Y!Tiki, Effie, Zephiel, and many other high Def units all failed, because of the lance cavalier constantly using reposition on the bow cavalier.

Before I get into the guide, please read the following disclaimer: This is by far the easiest GHB to date, even if you don't have a Hector. I strongly urge you to complete the Lunatic difficulty, as Lloyd, while not the best sword unit, is still very viable on his own. Additionally, if you have a Hector, then this is the easiest GHB for you to date. Please consult another guide if you fall under this category.

Please note that I will be using the 4 cardinal directions to refer to movement.

    ______________________________________

What follows is a turn-by-turn guide.

    ______________________________________

    Before Turn 1:

Switch your units around so they look like this:

    Nino      Takumi

    Azura     Olwen

    Turn 1:

Make certain to turn on Danger Zone and highlight the Bow Cavalier. This unit is the biggest problem in the GHB.

Move Takumi north one space, Olwen north three spaces, Azura north two spaces, and Nino east one space. Do not use Reposition yet. The Blue Mage will use Rally Defense on the Bow Cav.

    Turn 2:

Have Olwen use Reposition on Takumi, and have Azura move north one space. Azura should have a mountain tile in front of her, and should be just out of the Axe Flier's danger zone. End your turn without moving Nino. Do not move Takumi after using Reposition.

On the enemy phase, the Bow Cav will attack Takumi. Takumi will survive, and deal ~40 damage to the bow cav depending on your IV's. The Axe Flier will move south two spaces, Lloyd will move south one space, and the Lance Cav will not Reposition the Bow Cav.

    Turn 3:

Attack the Bow Cav with Takumi. Then, have Olwen Reposition Takumi, and have Azura sing to him. Next, have Takumi attack the Axe Flier, because of Life and Death, the Axe Flier will die in one hit, even if she outspeeds Takumi. Have Nino Draw Back Olwen.

On the enemy phase, Lloyd will move south two spaces, but the Lance Cav will move west one space and Reposition Lloyd. This will loop endlessly, until you enter either of their danger zones. The Blue Mage will move enough spaces so that there is one space between the Lance Cav and the Blue Mage.

    Turn 4:

Move Takumi south two spaces. Have Nino Drag Back Olwen.

Move Azura into the range of the Lance Cav, but not the Blue Mage. Make certain it is only the Lance Cav. End your turn.

On the enemy phase, the Lance Cav will attack Azura, leaving her with ~4 health depending on IV's. Azura and the Lance Cav will swap spaces.

    Turn 5:

Have Takumi kill the Lance Cav. Move Azura back one space, and have Nino Drag Back her another. Make sure all your units are outside the danger zone. End your turn.

On the enemy phase, Lloyd will have his Defense Rallied by the Blue Mage, and move west one space, and south another. The Blue Mage will be one space north, and one space east of Lloyd.

    Turn 6:

Have Takumi attack Lloyd, and then have Azura attack Lloyd, killing him. Have Nino Drag Back Azura. Move Olwen east two spaces so your unit formation looks like this:

    Takumi

    Olwen     Azura

                    Nino

Comments: So, um, Libra being a good character in FE:A seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I, uh... Replaced Lissa with Libra even though she was a Sage at the time? I also like his character and backstory a lot [even though he's pretty much a clone of Lucius in that regard]. Also I'm bias because I was born under Libra, so there's that. Anyways, I figured I'd give him the Bolt Axe since his official artwork has him wielding it and such, and to compensate for its effect, I basically made it a Rexcalibur+ but with 1 range. Light Boost is, in essence, a play on Boey's Earth Boost, but using Res instead of HP. Leave your comments and requests please, so that I don't go insane trying to find a unit to make  run out of ideas!

Comments: So, once again, I've based Legault off of his initial appearance in Blazing Blade, with a low defense stat, but high speed and resistance, alongside decent health and attack. For his kit, I based it heavily on his 'Hurricane' motif, much like how Jaffar's is based on his as the 'Angel of Death' ow the edge, as well as having Seal Def to compensate for how his dagger doesn't directly debuff enemies, but instead relies on the enemy team being grouped up as a means of getting the maximum possible value off of the Def/Res bonus. Anyways, please leave all your criticisms and comments below, and be sure to leave a request for what unit you want to see next!

  12. And you all thought that after the first [God awful and completely imbalanced] unit concept I'd just disappeared off of the forums. Unfortunately, I'm still here :w:. Anyways, I did my reading on how to properly balance out stats based on unit archetypes, and have decided to have a go at creating a concept of a unit that, while not incredibly important to the story, was a great help [Read: Carried me alongside Ike] through the harder difficulties of PoR. That, of course, being Zihark, a Daein citizen who filled the role of the Navarre archetype in PoR. With that said, please feel free to be as critical as you can in the review of this concept, as long as it remains constructive. I will take any and all criticisms to heart. Lastly, leave who you want as the next unit concept in your reply, and I'll get around to a few requests in the coming days.

    Unit: Zihark, Blade of Unity

Help Description: An ex-vigilante of Daein who believes in unity between the Beorc and Laguz. Loyal to his allies. Appears in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

    Summoned Quote:

"I am Zihark, an ex-mercenary for the kingdom of Daein. If you stand on the side of unity and peace, I shall be your blade."

    Status Screen Quotes:

[3S]: "People say I look severe, but that's not my intention."
[3S]: "Er, do you have any mending equipment? My shoulder guard is starting to tear."
[3S]: "I wish only for peace among all beings, regardless of heritage."
    [3S]: "Haha!"
[4S]: "I know all too well the sting of society's persecution. It is a pain I would wish upon nobody."
[4S]: "I've been told that I'm... perhaps too trusting."
[5S]: "This is the fifth cause for which I've fought. I think."
[5S]: "I'd rather not bring up past relationships. The topic is... painful to think of."

    Home Screen Quotes:

"My, what a wonderful base of operations! Then again, all I've seen in comparison are grimy barracks and camps."
"All these heroes from different realms getting along is inspiring, to say the least."
"Even if it was a matter of life and death, I could never turn my blade on an ally. I can only hope I am never at odds with your Order of Heroes."
"Do you have need of my services? I'm sorry to say that beyond the battlefield, all I'm good at is preparing for the next battle."
"I wonder if I could find Lethe or Mordecai around here? Have you seen them come out of that summoning device of yours?"

"Well, how disappointing." (+0, +1 Points)
    "A refreshing change." (+2, +3 Points)

Comments: This took much, much longer than expected. Mainly because I was trying to fill in the quote categories as best I could, but hey, that's what you have to do if you want to make a full blown unit as I endeavor to. Anyways, thanks for taking a look, please make any requests for other hero concepts, and please crtique this concept as best you can, as long as it is done in a constructive manner. Thanks! <3

    Changelog:

EDIT 1: Removed Vantage, Added Desperation. DEF/RES -2, ATK +4. Reason: In game, Zihark is rather fragile, yet has a decent HP pool to make up for it. I tried to reflect that here, by making him a very offensive Myrmidon who gets eaten alive by mages. Removed Life & Death 3, Replaced with ATK + 3.

Current Requests: None - Feel free to ask for any unit in particular!

FE12 Chapter 20x. Fucking trial and error bullshit.

FE7 HHM Chapter 28. Everything that could go wrong for you in this chapter will. Ursula doubles Zephiel with Bolting. BOLTING. What's worse, he survives one hit with 1 HP, and then gets doubled. Also if you want to recruit Jaffar, an incredible unit, you need to keep both Nino [Who just so happens to be an Est character] and Jaffar alive.

Conquest is basically now a worse hone/fortify Cavalry that also works on weapons

also it doesn't say "At the beginning of the turn" or "during combat"

It'd be better in the C slot than the A since that's where most buffs go anyway

also, I like +3 instead of +2 in each stat

The reason I left the bonus at +2 is because it is passive, as long as the units remain within 2 spaces of Walhart. The moment an ally moves into or out of range, they gain or lose the bonus respectively.

  16. 1 minute ago, Ice Dragon said:

That's 8 to 10 points too many for a physical cavalry unit. With the exception of Jagen, all physical cavalry units have a stat total between 153 and 155.

    A Spd growth of 27 is also physically impossible (legal 5-star growths are 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, and 33).

Duly noted. I'm in the process of finding a more suitable B slot as well. Give me around 5 minutes for the edit to register. Rebalancing of Conquest as well.

  17. Ever since the popularity poll came to an end, I've been pretty (Read: very) salty that my pick didn't even make top 200 on the list, even moreso now that he doesn't seem to be on the Grand Hero Battle list for the forseeable future (Since that seems to be the only way we're getting antagonists or stage bosses). So, I figured I'd just make my own fun, and try and make a hero with some semblance of balance about him. Keep in mind this is my first time trying something of this nature, and as such, it will not be perfect, or probably, even good. Any and all criticism is encouraged and appreciated. With that said, let's get into it!

    Unit: Walhart, The Conqueror

Help Menu Description: Dauntless emperor of the Valmese, who holds firm to his ideology of the strong rising up to conquer the weak. Appears in Fire Emblem: Awakening.

"A true conqueror does not require such transient meals consisting of the animals of the land. Only blessings from the earth are fit to eat."

Comments: After going through the hell that is Chapter 20 of FE: Awakening on Lunatic, I've come to believe that Walhart is one of the strongest non-Final Boss story enemies in the entirety of FE:A. Despite his weapon not giving him any stat boosts, the range on it made it so that you couldn't just attack him with magic to exploit his weak RES stat, as he could easily ORKO 90% of the mages you could have at the time. I tried to embody his harsh and dominant personality with the choice of his support ability, whereas I changed Conquest's functionality, as we already have Svalin Shield which fills the same functionality for Cavalry units. Conquest makes it so that he can move through forests, something which cavalry are inherantly unable to do, as well as move through mountains, which are normally impassable unless the unit is flying. However, he can't cross over lakes and gaps, as well as walls being impassable. Please leave any thoughts or criticisms in the comments, and if you all like thie enough, I may just do another one for a certain philandering cavalier, or one of the most famous piles of ash in existance [;)]. See you all next time!

EDIT 1: Changed functionality of Conquest [Previously allowed unparalled chase potential as well as movement, which was a tad broken], changed B skill from Quick Ripost 3 to Seal ATK 3, Reduced stats to be in line with other cavs. Added Summoned quote and Home Screen quotes.

EDIT 2: Moved Conquest to C Slot.

    UNIT REVIEW: WORLD OF RADIANCE

    Soren, Shrewd Strategist
    5S Kit:

    Weapon: Rexcalibur+ [Mt: 13, Rng: 2]
    Support:N/A
Special: Growing Wind; Charge: 5 [Before combat, deal Damage in a wide area around the foe equal to (unit's Atk - foe's Def or Res)

    A: N/A
B: Watersweep 3 {New Skill} [If this unit initiates combat, no follow-up occurs. If this unit is attacking a unit with magic, staff, or dragonstone, and unit's Spd - foe's Spd > 1, no counterattack occurs]
C: Fortify Res 3 [Grants adjacent allies +4 res through their next actions at the start of the turn]

Thoughts: Soren appears to be a fairly mediocre range-killer. Watersweep is nice, but would generally would be of better use on a Setsuna or Nino. Growing Wind as a special is mediocre at best, and his weapon is nothing special. Unless his stats are anything to gawk at, he won't be seeing the light of competitive day. Fortify Res 3 is fairly nice, though.

    Ike, Young Mercenary
    5S Kit:

Weapon: Ragnell {New Weapon} //Legendary// [Mt: 16, Rng: 1, Enables counterattack regardless of distance if this unit is attacked]
    Support: N/A
Special: Aether; Charge: 5 [Resolve combat as if unit suffered Def/Res -50%; Unit recovers HP = 50% Damage dealt]

A: Heavy Blade {New Skill} [If unit's Atk = foe's Atk > 1, then unit gains Special CD Charge +1 per attack. (If using other similar skill, only highest value applied)]
B: Swordbreaker 3 [If unit's HP > when in combat against a Sword user, unit makes a follow up attack and foe cannot.
    C: N/A

Thoughts: Ike promises to be one of the best sword users added into the game, with a powerful legendary weapon in Ragnell, an excellent special in Aether, and an incredible, and seemingly reliable source of Special charge in Heavy Blade to balance out Aether's absurd cost. Swordbreaker is frosting on the cake, allowing Ike to gain up to 4 special charge in one round against a sword user. Will almost definately see high tier play, assuming his stats aren't awful.

    Titania, Mighty Mercenary
    5S Kit:

Weapon: Emerald Axe+ [Mt: 12, Rng: 1, Atk +20% if at a weapon triangle advantage; -20% if at a disadvantage]
Support: Reciprocal Aid [Swap HP with adjacent ally (Unit and ally's HP cannot exceed maximum values)]
    Special: N/A

A: Armored Blow 3 [Gain Def +6 when attacking]
B: Guard {New Skill} [If unit's HP > at start of combat, foe is inflicted with Special CD Charge -1 (If using other similar skill, only highest value applied)]
    C: N/A

Thoughts: Titania's usefulness will be decided by her stats. Her kit is neither here nor there, but she seems to be shaping up to be a mounted tank, meaning her only major weakness is Raourwolf+. However, if her damage is limited, then so will her utility be. A truly decent kit, but the hero's stats have yet to be seen.

    Mist, Helpful Sister
    5S Kit:

Weapon: Slow [Mt: 5, Rng: 2, After combat, enemy suffers Spd -6 through its next actions]
Support: Recover [Rng: 1, Restore 15 HP to an adjacent ally (Special Cooldown +1)]
Special: Imbue; Charge: 1 [Increase healing from a staff by 10]

    A:N/A
    B:N/A
    C: Spur Def/Res 2 {New Skill} [Grants adjacent allies Def/Res +3 through combat]

Thoughts: Mist seems to be an alright healer, but as healers go, Elise still reigns supreme. Mist is, in essence, the diet coke version of Priscilla. Spur Def/Res 2 is nice to have on a buffing unit, though.

Conclusion: Ike seems to be the best unit from this set by far. Summon as many reds as you can, and if you have the orbs, maybe go for Mist for Spur Def/Res 2, and maybe Titania if her stats dictate so.

Thanks for reading, and see you all next time!

  19. Well, I tentatively own a '3DS'. I believe I bought it when the console first launched, so you could say that it, uh...

    Has character?

Anyways, thanks for replying, and I hope to see you elsewhere on the forums! <3

  20. I would highly, highly recommend picking up Awakening, as well as most of the story-driven DLC, however, Fates falls off a bit, as they tried a bit too hard to "Balance" things, almost to the point where the only thing differentiating units is their skill pool. Also the business model is pretty lame, but hey, what can you do?

Great to see another new user here! Hope to see you on the forums as well, thanks for the reply.

  21. I'd take the question literally and explain the answer as such;

Ike is described as "The Strongest Hero" based on brute physical strength alone. I very much doubt that he is objectively the most powerful hero in Fire Emblem's history [Despite him being nearly unbeatable once you slap Ragnell on him], as the manner in which he wields his weapon relies heavily on brute strength. Just look at his attack animations, no matter how much Ashunera/Ashera [Something something lore] blesses a weapon, I highly doubt that it's easy to literally create shockwaves so strong and precise they can pierce a dragon's scales. The only real technique we see Ike use in combat is his whole Aether blade toss combo when the aforementioned skill triggers, otherwise, it's just relatively simple large, very telegraphed, incredibly deadly slashes and the like [Excluding shockwaves].

Furthermore, this can be evidenced by how Ike is portrayed in titles he features in. For instance, take his appearance in the Smash Bros. franchise, a very slow fighter who telegraphs his attacks in advance, but with attacks so powerful that any character in the game [Ike included] are damaged immensly from just a few swings. Once again, his attacks are relatively straightforward, with the exceptions being his dash, the whole fire eruption [Which is caused by him ramming Ragnell into the ground hard enough to break the earth's crust and make liquid flame come out], and of course, as previously mentioned, Aether. However, take note that due to his immense strength, Ike is among the game's slowest characters in both appearances.

Lastly, let's look at Ike's unique skill in FE: Heroes, Heavy Blade. Heavy Blade, contrary to what its name suggests, does not lower Ike's speed in exchange for an increase in attack, instead, it has it where if Ike's attack stat is higher than his foe's [Which it will be in most non-Effie circumstances, due to Ragnell's 16 might and his presumably high attack stat], his special cooldown is reduced by 1. Once again, rewarding Ike for using raw, brute strength, rather than speed.

In conclusion, Ike is, in all likelihood, not objectively the best hero [Unless Nintendo decides to make him Ryoma 2.0], but instead, the hero who has the most raw, physical strength.
