  1. Ah, that makes sense. How is Cyril recruited, by the way?
  2. I started up chapter 10 in my game, to discover that I could not field Shamir, which was disappointing, since I believe I would have had a much easier time with her. Then, I started an auxiliary battle, where I was barred from deploying Hubert. Why is this?
  3. I agree. Matthis is a bit dull. Makalov is an idiotic jerk who I intend to have Marcia kill once I reach his chapter in Path of Radiance. If he was just thoughtless, and he used the opportunity Ike gave him to turn his life around, he could be likable, but no...
  4. Some character's supports are like that. Quite a few (Edelgard B, Edelgard/Lysythia B, Bernadetta A) are locked until after the time skip. The S-Supports aren't unlocked until the very end, anyway.
  5. You can talk to Ashe or Sylvain in the Monastery, but there's no mention of it in the actual maps. The Blue Lions may have more interesting maps near the beginning, but with the Black Eagles? When the story gets going, it really gets going.
  6. I...tried to make Linhardt a Dancer. He was a point of Charm off, and he lost, so...I think I permanently lost out on a Refresher.
  7. To be fair, Malice is an awesome name for an awesome person. At least you didn't have any real deaths by then. So, funny story...I was just playing my game, as you do, performing horribly, when all of a sudden, I have to turn it off. Being a teenager beholden to the will of his parents and all. However, as it happens, I forgot to save...which means this is my second try... I didn't do it on purpose, but I'd be a lying liar who lies if I didn't admit that my last playthrough didn't go so well, and that I used some insight from it for the actually chapter, so...you can count this as half of a dishonorable reset. : He forgot to move Ogma and friends and Yumina died on turn 1. : SHHHH! Battle DEATH COUNTER: Wrys
  8. Hoo, boy. Tutorial time. During Instruction, there are three different activities: Goals, Group Tasks, and Instruct, which I will be referring to as “tutor.” Goals are the simplest and the most significant. You choose which skills you want your students to focus on, and they are given a large boost at the end of the period. You can either pick 2, which will rise at the default rate, or 1, which will rise 50% faster. Next are group tasks. Pick two students to perform one of three tasks (corresponding to the non-combat skills, Riding, Flying, and Heavy Armor), which will raise that skill for both and increase their support points. Lastly is Tutor. You select a number of students and Instruct them in a skill, boosting it a small amount. You can instruct a student a number of times equal to their motivation level, with the maximum being 4.
  9. First, you only control what you do on days off-that is, Sunday’s. Each Monday, you do instruction, which lasts the whole week, not counting special events. The bar is motivation, which determines how many times you can instruct each student.
  10. I agree. At least in Awakening, they came back in Spotpass missions you could pretend weren't canon! Which is that? Note to self: When sending a single unit to deal with multiple ones at once...check the damage. Now, in most FE games, your dodge is equal to (Speed x 2) + Luck. In the DS games, it's equal to Speed + (Luck/2). So, quite literally halved dodge rates. : Actually, I kind of prefer it if we do... : ... : ... : ... : Kidding! Kidding! I'm not into that. : Palla gets to stay a bunny, though. : End my suffering. Battle:
  11. I’ve always found them very useful. I have Edelgard as a Brigand, and her high strength is great with Gauntlets. Are they the best weapon in most situations? No. Are they helpful in certain situations? Yes. Is it fun to punch things in Fire Emblem? YES.
  12. : Man, this game is amazing! Great gameplay, great characters, amazing story! I can't wait to see what's next! : Ooh, look, C+ Support with [REDACTED]! Her C was a bit dark, maybe this one's a bit lighter- : HOLY PTEROSAUR! I did not see that coming! : ... : Wait a minute...that puts that other support in a whole new light! I need to find out more- : AHEM. : Oh, hey, Ryan! What's up? : Pretty good...what'cha got there? : Three Houses! It's absolutely incredible! I've been playing it all weekend. : And...you sure you aren't forgetting something? : Like what? : Like the fact we've been waiting on our tactician for THREE DAYS. : OH DEINONYCHUS!
  13. Traditionally, “Light Magic” is a type of offensive magic. In this game (and SoV) “White Magic” is support and healing magic. As for terminology, White and Dark Magic are the actual spells, while Faith and Reason are the Skills associated with them. Also, I happen to be rather partial to Gauntlets. Their low weight makes it easy to double characters even on top of the Brave effect, so a character with high Strength can wreck some [Fates Story] even with only acceptable speed. Yes, their power is low, (the Training Gauntlet in particular has no Might), but the easily accessible Brave effect make them very potent. In fact, they just may be the best way of dealing damage in the early game, and remain viable as the game goes on.
  14. Dex is short for Dexterity, which is just the Skill stat but renamed to differentiate from Skills (now called Abilities) and Skills (formerly called Weapon Ranks) Jeralt is Rosalina’s father, by the way. I’m not sure if the prologue made that clear.
  15. The end of the prologue has you make a choice between them, but don't worry! It's not your final answer. You get a chance to learn a bit more about the houses and their students before you make your decision.
  16. ...Yeah, there's a problem with that idea...I can't. Arran is in Male Class Set A, and Knight/General is part of Class Set B. Once you beat the game on Hard Mode, males get access to both Sets, but this is my first playthrough. That was the idea. 🙂
  17. I learned how to unzip files, everyone! So, friends, I decided to take advantage of the handy-dandy screenshot function of the emulator and do a Let's Play. This will be a Hard/Classic Ironman, and there will be some degree of audience participation. (i.e., suggesting and naming forges, reclasses) Anyway, time to jump into the game! Actually, I identify as an turtle. That's not an option, however, so I go for Male. For my name, I just decide to go with...my name. I will also continue the grand tradition of Mage MyUnits in FE12 Let's Plays. Original character do not steal I'm kidding, of course. This is my character. It's...close enough. Now, rather unconventionally, I'm going to be skipping the prologue and the first chapter. Why? All the pictures were mixed up. Some were also missing. 😅
  18. Banned for banning people for petty reasons.
  19. Banned for clogging up my notifications with this thread.
  20. Criminally, I haven’t read this until now. I binged the whole thing in a few hours, and am looking forward to more whenever you feel up to it!
  21. Hello. I am a 15-year-old who has never watched Anime or read Manga before. Are the Death Note Anime Books an acceptable place to start?
  22. As the new title says, I feel like it deepens the emotional weight of chapters 9-10. It hardly raises the difficulty by much. Even with these self-imposed "restrictions," I don't think I've ever lost a unit on Renewal.
  23. Whenever I replay Awakening, I hold off on doing Paralogue 4 (the one where you recruit Anna) until after chapter 10. I also don't do any supports between chapters 9 and 10. So...do other people do this or something similar, or am I just weird?
