  1. Lookie here another backlog topic. However I'm proud I got off my lazy gamer ass and picked up the controller. Also feel free to list what games are on your backlog and which you've recently beat! Thanks to my girlfriend and I taking turns, we beat Final Fantasy XV and Ni no Kuni II. I beat Tales of Berseria (as noted by the topic I made before), Pokémon Ultra Sun (after 9 months), and Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash (after 11 months). Next on my list are Final Fantasy X, Fire Emblem Echoes, and Tales of Xillia. All of which I have some progress on already. It's just a matter of consistency.
  2. Dragon Ball was the best of the story-telling department. Useful support characters, less reliance on aliens being the villains, etc. DBZ Kai fixes a lot of issues I had with the original DBZ run. It cut out all the filler and poor pacing (though some filler were enjoyable like the rest period before Cell Games). And if we're talking about the show in terms of arcs then Saiyan Saga was fantastic, Namek/Frieza saga was also fantastic, Android/Cell saga was pretty good, Majin Buu saga was annoying/messy. I do agree that anyone who wasn't an alien got shitted on tremendously in Z. At least Super shined some light on them even if they shouldn't have been able to stack up against the other Universe fighters.
  3. When you log in after months and find your male counterpart topic is closed. I'm disappointed in you all.
  4. Grew up watching Dragon Ball and DBZ. I even watched GT as a kid though I was never fond of it. I was really excited for Super. I kept tuning in every week hoping for something different and while it had its high points, in retrospect there were a severe amount of low points. When Super was ongoing, I considered myself a fan of it and kept watching. Now I feel like the show isn't that great when looking back at all the dumb shit it gave us. Goku was a lot dumber compared to Z. Future Trunks (my favorite character) looked like more of a bitch in Super and I still don't get the Deus Ex Machina kill he got on Zamasu. Jiren's backstory was a huge disappointment and ultimately led to one of the worst villains in the entire series. Even worse than Buu and I hate that character. Also, re-creating 2 movies in a row? Really? What a waste of time. I guess they had the opportunity to flesh out more scenes but it's still the same overall story. The animation and art were never consistent and while DB and DBZ had its fair share of animation blunders, DBS just looks far worse the majority of the time. Of course there are episodes and scenes that look phenomenal depending on the director or animators working on the episode at the time. Honestly I never really liked how Dragon Ball looked in HD. They gave them this weird highlight that makes them look more plastic-like. And if we're nitpicking the art, I never liked Super Saiyan Blue as a transformation. The whole color thing became cluttered and lame. The technical name Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is beyond stupid. Toriyama is as bad as Nintendo when it comes to naming things. As for the positives, the Goku Black arc was pretty good overall. It had some inconsistencies that bothered me like Trunks and Mai being a thing, or the Spirit Sword kill, or Goku never kissing Chi-Chi wtf? However seeing Vegito again was cool and even though Trunks didn't act the way he did in Z, the premise of the new story was great. The Tournament of Power arc was my favorite for it's many highlights. First female Super Saiyan, Ultra Instinct, the final showdown between Universe 7 and Jiren. Great stuff overall. But DBS as a whole felt like 30% good and 70% bad.
  5. Welcome to Serenes Forest. Home of the C++ majors.
  6. I see games like Overwatch and Naruto Shinobi Striker and all I think to myself is "obsolete in the future." I was never really fond of online multiplayer to begin with because I never found it as fun as local multiplayer. It's more enjoyable having friends over and hearing their excitement and jokes over stuff we do in the games. I'm a big fan of fighting games and I know it has a huge online presence but at least those games offer offline single-player and multiplayer modes. I can still bring friends over and play those games 5-10 years from now. Games with online-only multiplayer rely solely on the player base. Once that player base dies down and/or the company shuts down the servers, then it's an obsolete game. Practically unplayable. That's part of the reason I could never get into Splatoon. Sure it has some single-player content but the good chunk of its fun is from multiplayer. Unfortunately there is no local multiplayer unless 2 people have a Switch. That being said, none of my friends have a Switch besides me so it's pointless to get the game. At least with games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros., I can enjoy their local multiplayer with my friends when they come over and have a blast.
  7. It's been a tradition since Gen 3 for the starters to have their basic abilities of STAB boosts with 1/3 (or less) of their health. Would it be better to forsake that tradition and make their hidden abilities be their default ones? It would make the starters more interesting to use during in-game playthroughs. Although I wonder what their new hidden abilities would be if they made that change?
  8. PS4: Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash PS3: Tales of Symphonia and Xillia 3DS: Pokemon Ultra Sun Switch: Kirby Star Allies
  9. Y'know I heard a lot of people had their gripes with Zestiria but after watching a video detailing the links between it and Berseria only got my more invested in it. Cool to see how the towns/villages evolved and how Malaks are known as Seraphim. I'm more likely to get through Xillia because its my friend's favorite Tales game so co-op sessions happen often. I already heard how long Symphonia is so I'm mentally preparing myself lol. I'll keep your skipping fights tip in mind whenever I do a new game+ for Berseria. Maybe a let's play thread would be more appropriate for that? If not then I'll make something similar to this whenever I beat Symphonia. The girl in your avatar looks like a moe Rinkah and I'm 100% okay with this. If I can pick it up for cheap it wouldn't hurt to try.
  10. It's a fantastic game with an engaging story. The characters are lovable. Seriously, one of my favorite cast of party members in an RPG. The gameplay was fun and technical. I loved getting into fights to keep playing the game's battle system. I used Rokurou most of the time but I swapped here and there. Some of the music was good but it gets drowned out by the sfx so I barely hear much of it. The opening is godlike. My favorite video game opening of all time. I never get tired of watching it before starting the game. One complaint I had is that the game is too long (it's my first Tales game). I usually play RPGs that I finish around the 20-40 hour mark. To hit 72 and a half hours when completing the game was draining as hell. There was a point in the game around the 40 to 50 hour mark that felt stale and unimportant to the story. Luckily the story picks up again after that and I was back to my normal investment. I just don't understand how people can beat the game in less than 70 hours? Do people not watch the skits? Explore? Skip fights? I was constantly swapping equipment to master them all and doing the ship expeditions. SPOILERS: Im gonna need a small break from Tales games because Berseria was exhausting lol. I have Symphonia and Xillia on my backlog and soon Vesperia for PS4.
  11. A sort of reference sheet for my character Sandra Hale. The left is her primary outfit and the right is her summer outfit.
  12. Drew this from Mark Crilley's Mastering Manga 3. I took some liberties of course.
  13. 7.5/10 I dig it. Chill track. Route 26 - Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver
  14. Has a name similar to the land shark in TMNT.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQO8escJC78 Chillhop is great for listening on train rides, studying, drawing, etc.
  16. Alongside Outcast Lions, I wanted to try my hands on making an adventure series. Azalea would be the protagonist. A village warrior who wields two tonfas (her tonfas are made of strong wood). She has nature powers so she can control plants and slide on tree branches Tarzan style.
  17. I think they stick to front doors because it'd be hard to see them from the side. Maps are more top-down and not tilted like other SRPGs.
  18. I've been working on my own comic series and it got me thinking about the climate and making sure everyone's clothes fit the seasons. Then I thought about how inconsistent the clothing is for Fire Emblem characters. You've got guys in full armor, guys with some armor but mostly cloth, and girls who are half naked. How do they survive the hot and cold weather? What's the climate like for every party member to be comfortable in their attire?
  19. Thank you for bringing us back to the purpose of my thread. Y'all other dudes are weird.
  20. Anime/manga fans, do you think a character shouting their attack names is cool or lame? Spirit Gun, Kamehameha, Gum Gum Gatling, etc. I'm kinda torn because attack names gives me something to remember and mimic the character by. However it is pretty goofy when they're being serious and still calling out names.
  21. Random original character I created back in 2014. Dug this one up from my old sketchbook. Decided to color it in. The drawing itself is a little rough but I tried to color it nicely. Maybe I'll redo this drawing with my current improvements.
