Perhaps I should. There's a lot of stuff, but at least the convos would be nice to have compiled. It's easy enough to open up the ROM on FEBuilder and check them, but I understand not everyone's familiar with the tool.

Yes it'd be more convenient if you or someone could compile it directly, that'll be nice for folks like me who inevitably come across your work: seeing the best of it on the forefront will be great.

Perhaps. It's still weird, and him giving up a ring denied us a chance to instead see Alear's dragon form and have that be used to reveal that Alear is a fell dragon, while also being yet another time we fight and defeat the Four Hounds, even if, in this case, Griss wanted to lose.

Denied us? It didn't really deny us anything. Even if Griss never gave it up: Alear was never getting a dragon form. That just wasn't happening with how Alear was designed as a character.

Please give the Sommie Costume to one of the Alears. lol

Alear could have one of the Emblem transformation as Brave version... that would be neat. Although, I can see them going with this for Alear (spoilers from Engage):

I'm expecting Heroes to stay far away from Emblem stuff going off the way the game wrote them off: Emblems don't really add much either. Brave version is 100% the getup you posted.

I never talked about the alternate route angle. As per my post:

Hence the comparison to Future Past. Since I was only focusing on that.

It could've been a way to make the "Prologue" segment actually have relevancy, since it barely does in the main game itself.

The prologue segment is to just introduce you to the game and is nothing more than an un-explainable weird dream. Don't overthink it. Still, the Hounds and their defeat are the main plot point and you create a time paradox by recruiting them while undermining their entire tragedy. The Winds are better and put an interesting spin on the Hounds.

It doesn't have to be. Not any more than Age of Calamity is to the original Breath of the Wild, since the latter isn't invalidated by the former. This too can just be a sidequest.

Or to use FE's own examples. Not unlike Future Past is to Awakening.

Future Past isn't an alternate route, it's quite literally comparable to what we have now than this terrible idea of an alternate route that's made as a sudden main part of the main game. No, it quite literally can't be a "sidequest" because the original proposition was to force a brand new route in the story that you can choose over Alear and their journey, it's not a sidequest. Age of Calamity is a spinoff and a whole new timeline unrelated to BOTW's main campaign. It's a dishonest comparison.

Isn't that what the Fell Xenologue already did?

    ---

Can't comment about the alternate route, but the bits about the trip to the past sound fascinating. Would've been a better option than "bleak and edgy" Elyos.

No since it's not a route nor is it trying to be a main part of Engage's story like this alt route would be. It's more or less a sidequest than some bullshit about causing a time paradox and forcing in two characters that are dead while simultaneously undermining the point of the Hounds.

  7. That'd be lame and make zero sense. Especially to shoehorn an awful "alternate route" that'd be at odds for everything Engage did. It's completely unnecessary. Also, I and many others love Gregory and Madeline. They're an interesting and fun mirror without undermining how the Hounds worked. The Winds better sold me on the family idea than the Hounds ever could.

  8. His actions are pretty much reminiscent of a guy who does and doesn't want to go through with hurting the others. Since he reveals to clearly be under some form of control by Sombron at the end. Rafal doesn't fully control the corrupted if he kept their personality intact, which he did otherwise suspicion on him would grow. Plus, he played 5D chess by sandbagging and making Nel + Alear do all the work to further lower their guards to "Nil". Rafal would have to explain why he randomly has all the bracelets if he just coerced them like you suggested, which puts a wrench in the plan of lowering their guards.

Especially in the case where one's nice but fat old man and his rival is a prettyboy tsundere with all the charm of a rattlesnake. You'd never guess who ranks first and who ranks last.

Yeah though I'd say the same goes for Corrin. Both of them are just normal characters who's name you can tweak. Robin's a bit of a special case since his character traits are more low key.

Not sure about that. Corrin was officially described as a my unit type but as a lord now. They have the customization and everything that Byleth onward gave up on.

  10. I like Alm more but it's just a fact that he's too derivative of Marth to be a worthwhile choice. Celica and her struggles are more emblematic of the game as well, Alm is designed around being a disconnected steamroller of armies. Celica has more issues with being a princess of Zofia and the main theme of gods. Celica further showcases humanity's folly with her even being a direct victim of Desaix and his greed: a main antagonist in Alm's route. Alm just kinda solves everything without getting in the mud too much and that makes a very uninteresting unfitting choice of Gaiden/SOV and its themes.

Sigurd and his campaign is significantly more memorable and better written than Seliph's. He best represents FE4 and what made it standout.

Lyn has been described as Marth for the West. She kinda has to be prioritized if it came down to one FE7 rep.

Intelligent Systems hit a sweet spot with Eirika. Having her and Ephraim double team with Eirika being the face for extra diversity was optimal. Just have Ephraim occasionally chime in like Robin does and you're golden. Sacred Stones stands out better this way.

Chrom and Lucina are a toss-up. They're about tied in being prioritized over one another. Chrom is the best though but Lucina isn't too bad.

  11. I concede that making her evil would be awesome, extremely unique for the franchise. But it'd ultimately remove a diverse recruitable character. However, her being fully evil and still recruitable is the worst of both worlds. You can't make an obnoxiously evil character like that recruitable, there is zero justification for why the blatant evil for sake of evil character would be saved instead of slain. I'd hate Veyle if she were genuinely evil and recruitable.

She willingly did far too much bad, it'd be what happened to Peri but 10x worse since Veyle consciously hurt, threatened, and killed far too many people including those that were close to a lot of our main cast. It'd be character assassination for Alear and everyone to just be written to accept her in their ranks.

Technically Ike uses his FE10 design, so doesn't FE9 also lack a rep? Then again, Tellius works much better as a duology so maybe that doesn't really matter for those two titles. Regardless, it was weird to lack an FE3 rep when we got both Ike and Micaiah, that's true.

It's because the casts are the same and Marth is the main character of both. FE10 had a fully new lord in place of Ike.

I wonder if the emblem of foundations is really just Alear or a version of them? With time travel and the well, assuming it let's you travel worlds, I wouldn't put it past Alear to try and go back and save Sombrom. Sort of like what would happen if he had a different upbringing or something. Sombron looks at his children before he dies and says he can see the emblem of foundations.

Or it could be some made up character. The game was fun and overall story was okay at best. I wouldn't be surprised if we never get a cannon answer

I don't believe it's Alear at all or meant to amount to anything. It's 100% just an intentional unanswered question, my theory is that it's just a random made up character that parallels Kaga. It makes the most sense why the writing completely dances around the name even when both Alear and Sombron did the emblem enchantment. It'd make sense for the 30th anniversary game.

    Hm? Why?

    The first one.

Hmm, well, without changing too much, perhaps after Chapter 15? Like, after Veyle runs off, the party does chase after her. They then find Veyle accosted by more Corrupted that were still around and is too distressed from earlier to fight back, or perhaps she's just overwhelmed. So Alear jumps in and... takes a fatal blow while shielding her. And right there and then Veyle brings them back.

Whether she still decides to run away or not it's incidental, though I'd have it that she stays. It's not like it would change Chapter 17 much anyway, since Zephia can just mind control her back to their side anyway.

Granted, this way, it'd have to be made that Alear can still restore the Emblems... but perhaps this can be the thing that triggers the second death. Just a more gradual process that culminate when they have to do it come Lythos Castle.

On the topic of Marni, I feel she should've been playable. Or at least, her death shouldn't have been so...

I mean, this falls back to FE's habit of making the Rewind mechanic exist in-story. Nothing and no one was stopping Alear from using the Time Crystal to prevent Marni's death. And unlike Jeralt's case, neither is there a "it's fate" thing stopping a second attempt or anything. The story only remembers the Crystal exists for the Emblem Theft, and then never again.

At least alive she could get more fleshed out through supports and stuff, like Mauvier.

Having Alear job to a random corrupted would be a really bad plot point. It's what made Lilith's sacrifice in Fates fundamentally fail.
