  1. I don't care what Ephraim and Eirika did since their weapons have their own identity and they never get another game in continuity with theirs. The falchion being left in Duma would make enough sense to be justifiable. Also, yes it's a plot hole. It never being brought up again especially when we visit to Valm's continent is just ridiculous. It's not like Sacred Stones where Alm's story is left there with nothing in a future game. Awakening straight up has Valentia explored. Which requires headcanons and a lot of loopholes. And again, nothing is specifically shown with Falchion being required so even if that battle happens... Kingsfang wasn't a weapon that was needed. Using this argument is completely pointless. It's already contradicted by the lack of story and using units that you shouldn't have access too. Especially when in that "Samson and Arran" choice, an answer is given and Mystery makes sure that choice was apart of the story and had an actual outcome. Except Grima is in his weakest state, it was accounted for in Awakening yet not in Echoes? It's clear Grima is a non canon optional boss battle with the Falchion not being required. And by your logic if the game WANTED to keep Falchion, they would've specifically shown it than a gameplay story segregation that you're hinging on. They weren't going to wipe everyone's parties for this optional non canon fanservice battle lmao. It doesn't indicate anything. If they gave a shit about making this apart of Echoes' story. They would've accounted for continuity and make some units and items unusable. Yet they're not. It's not that common of an item, yet Alm in the DLC of Awakening also uses Alm's Blade. And the sword Alm uses is one of the two personal weapons he has so Royal Sword being the same blade in Awakening lines up. Guess it was just Awakening being weird if you can get multiple of them. I mean, as you said you can get multiple Tyrfings.
  2. Which is why it being left behind makes the most sense. It leaves a glaring plot hole otherwise and there's nothing in Alm's character for him to keep it in a world where Gods are no more. He doesn't mention keeping it nor is there a single quip of script confirming Alm kept it. Act 6 and Alm's position means nothing, the Whitewings are still in your party despite leaving to Archanea and Gradivus is usable too despite the timeline directly confirming it's immediately returned to Archanea post Duma battle. Hell, there's usable characters despite some vanishing, retiring or in Faye's case - never wanting to fight again. Too many contradictions and lack of story to blindly say Act 6 is canon. Also, Falchion isn't necessary to defeat Grima, anyone can defeat him without a special weapon unlike Duma where you absolutely needed Kingsfang. There is no evidence suggesting it was kept. If you have to bring non canon appearances then that's the weakest "indication" to exist. Falchion being left accounts for Awakening continuity way more than Alm keeping it. Pretty sure Tyrfing is able to be used by anyone in Awakening. It's so much worse in stats in comparison to Genealogy and it no longer grants Miracle when equipped. Royal Sword is easily another weapon that just aged to the point of no longer having its full power and can be used by anyone. No point in writing it off as an easter egg when Alm's game takes place in the same world with Valm literally appearing in the game. Royal Sword resembles Echoes' design, it's definitely the same weapon, just aged... a lot. This is the same game where Falchion had nowhere near it's main power and it took an awakening for the Falchion to be its full strength again. Royal Sword being Alm's Blade has more going for it than not being one.
  3. Don't know if I can agree. Yuri's whole concept could've used a story to itself than a mediocre DLC campaign narrative. Because at the end of the day, it's still Byleth's, Edelgard's. Dimitri's and Claude's story. I wish Yuri was accepted as a full lord, but he's clearly not.
  4. But that's the thing, Lenticular. Constance, Hapi and Balthus are interesting and fit Fodlan well. They directly tie into Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude, they downright have supports with them too. Yuri is an outlier and just doesn't fit as smoothly. He provides so much potential outside of Three Houses. A lord like him works since he still has heart and can directly fight for good. At the very least be a good major character in another game. Abyss in its current state just doesn't work in Fodlan. I definitely believe it could work in a narrative that supports it.
  5. It's a huge indication. Echoes even tied in Mila's Tree yet still left Alm's Falchion as a footnote outside of slaying Duma. It's the only reason it makes sense. It's not mentioned in the timeline post Duma slaying nor is Alm shown ever having it again. It doesn't originate in his family either, Kingsfang came from Naga and only ever exists to seal mad gods away. There's nothing to imply Alm would keep it nor is anything given that he passed it down. Hell, it could even bring painful memories and remind Alm of his failure to save his family. It's not stated in Echoes' timeline either that Alm keeps it. Even worse when in that same timeline, it's highlighted that Rigel I: a war hero returned Falchion to Duma Temple early in the timeline. Yet it doesn't ever entertain the idea of Alm keeping it. Then that's a worthless argument to pull since it's never mentioned as a canon. Nor does anything specifically state Alm uses Falchion in that fight. Again, those other weapons have an identity of their own. They don't have future games within the same continuity that suddenly has the weapon vanish like Alm's Falchion does. Alm's Blade still resembles the Royal Sword to the degree of Echoes taking directly from Awakening's redesign. That just feels like an excuse on your end to say "it doesn't count because it doesn't have the exact same naming!" Alm doesn't use any other sword that looks the Royal Sword. Alm's Blade IS the Royal Sword and you can't prove otherwise, there is no other sword used by Alm that shares a similar look. Naturally the other sword used by Alm alone would be associated with his legacy thus renamed "Alm's Blade". The entire continent was renamed to directly involve Alm's name after all. I never denied the Falchion's importance. It is important and crucial to slaying Duma. But Royal Sword is more interesting, gives Alm more of a set identity of his own and even outlasted the Kingsfang in the future timeline. Intsys had no choice but to keep it in the remake, they're not going to hijack the entire continuity. Duma in the original needed to be slain by Falchion and there was no alternative (outside of a non canon glitch). I don't care if the Kingsfang stays, but Royal Sword shouldn't constantly be shafted by it. Unlike a generic rapier used by Marth, Royal Sword actually has thematic importance and there's never a sword like it. Meanwhile many dancers have used a similar rapier and weapons like rapier never had a special origin nor fit themes.
  6. The problem is Three Houses. Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude have a fully set story. Also the idea of trying to usurp the church is lame with Edelgard already making an effort to do that in the main game and completely destroy it. A lord like Yuri would've been awesome...
  7. Archanea is legendary. How much it uses its side characters makes me drool.
  8. Valid. I love how much it correlates with the Beloved Zofia. Sword gifted from Rudolf's Empire as a sign of kinship and another being a treasured part of Lima's royal line. Unbelievable how Intsys never had any Alm use Royal Sword in Heroes. It deserves more appreciation!
  9. Exactly. He's lord material because he showcases that genuine heart and willingness to protect others (in this case, his gang) and can clearly do what's right when it comes down to it. Unlike the other Abyss members, Yuri feels the most disconnected and had a longer ongoing story going off his interaction with Rhea in CS, his connection to Count Rowe, connection to Bernadetta and he clearly made his way around Fodlan as a whole. Constance, Balthus and Hapi all exist for the 3 house leaders and their respective situations. Yuri doesn't. He needed his own standalone story. I didn't mind the Bernie support since it gave Count Varley more than just "bad dad". It's not like it makes Bernadetta better since Varley will always negatively impact her. Glad we agree that the Abyss and Yuri got completely fucked by Three Houses' writing. The narrative blatantly doesn't support him, Yuri needs a story of his own than the mess that was CIndered Shadows.
  10. There's no excuse for Alm. At least Roy and co aren't apart of Awakening's continuity. Chrom and the rest of his squad literally goes to Valentia or rather "Valm". No Kingsfang in sight when Awakening also represented Tyrfing (not just Ragnell and Falchion) is just ridiculous. Even worse when Alm's blade resembles the Royal Sword and overall showcases Alm's legacy in Awakening's continuity. It's the only reason that makes sense. Specifically with the last time we see Duma is this and this is one of the final shots from the entire game: "And as far as its legacy as a weapon goes it has just as much legacy as Marth's Falchion if not more, being an ancient weapon we actually see used in game by multiple characters against multiple opposing enemies." That's the problem. Alm 's Falchion isn't Marth's. It isn't a weapon that received multiple uses like how Chrom and Lucina's Falchions are essentially Marth's. Alm's is just a second one that vanishes entirely. It doesn't show up in more than one mainline game, serves one singular purpose, doesn't have a unique name and identity of its own and just... vanishes with none of Alm's line using it. Tyrfing is associated with Sigurd since his son still uses it and keeps it around. It clearly lasted until Awakening too unlike Alm's Falchion. Ragnell has a unique name and identity of its own unlike the Kingsfang, primarily known as another Falchion. Ike also uses it again in Radiant Dawn and even leaves with it. It doesn't completely vanish like Alm's sword does since it's still used by Priam. I actually find the Kingsfang fine, especially after reading the timeline where it's meant to go side by side with Ragnarok. The Royal Sword is just way more interesting and represents so much. I want the Royal Sword to at the very least be a common part of Alm's tool kit.
  11. Prefer Shadows of Valentia over it. Always have, always will. If Three Houses lived up to all of the potential it offered... Boy oh boy, it probably would've blown out my favorite game and easily become my new favorite. But after the DLC narrative easily being worse than Rise of the Deliverance and the Abyss + Yuri being horridly wasted along with TH blatantly needing a LOT more time in development. Three Houses dropped a spot or two. 1. Echoes. 2. Mystery of the Emblem 3. Shadow Dragon 4. Three Houses 5. Genealogy of the Holy War Easy top 5.
  12. The entire narrative doesn't support them much. It hurts a lot that I adore what they did with Yuri's writing but because he was thrown in through DLC, he doesn't feel as explored as he could've been. He had everything going for him to be a really compelling interesting lord with a concept of an underground society having a lot of potential than just an afterthought. Constance, Balthus and Hapi felt a little smoother even if they could've used more. Yuri had so much potential though. Now he's just left with an implied hefty arc that we don't get to witness since he's DLC, having to be an afterthought to a game with jank graphics and system, a tiny amount of supports, a conflict that blatantly doesn't involve Yuri, stuck having to shine in Cindered Shadows only (ugh), and left with so much potential without reaching half of it. He was blatant lord/major plot character material... What a waste. Abyss is just all over the place and that goes without saying.
  13. Alm isn't a nobody, he's fairly popular and featured in FE stuff. Echoes wasn't as popular but it still sold well enough. I firmly believe in at least SOME future FE content, Alm's popularity and amiibo presence will get him content. Even if Echoes doesn't get as much as Awakening in terms of who's taken from the cast, Alm and Celica should at least show up fairly often due to being lords, automatically making them more popular/significant than 70% of FE characters. Alm and Celica aren't as iconic as Lucina, Chrom and Marth. But they should at least get some action even if it's just Alm and Celica repping Echoes and them alone (rip Clive, Tobin and other good side chars).
  14. Here's the difference between Alm and those other two... Alm's "endgame weapon" has no identity and legacy of its own. They couldn't even give it a different name and the instant Echoes provided an alternative name opportunities like "Kingsfang", Falchion and Falchion alone in title has been the generic tried and true for Alm's version of it. While in Awakening where every other lord has their legendary endgame weapon referenced in their legacy. Alm's Falchion is nowhere to be seen. Instead the only source of Alm's legacy weapon wise is the Royal Sword aka "Alm's Blade". It getting a design of its own and even a unique ability "Double Lion" just makes me want the Royal Sword to be involved with Alm more. Hell, it can even learn Scendscale. Alm's final personal ability. Although, it sucks that Beloved Zofia isn't used more. It at least was used by a Celica in Heroes. I want to see it in Celica's primary inventory in future entries. I'll give Warriors a pass because the Celica there is just a barebones Gaiden Celica but with Echoes' design. They didn't get her character right, nor display her spells to resemble the Echoes counterpart. It makes sense though, she was clearly an Intsys choice and Warriors devs didn't have much to work with at the time. You never know. 2/3 mainline games with amiibo support had units to some degree. Additionally, I included spinoffs in general that will likely feature Alm not just amiibo carrying.
  15. It was so questionable. Falchion not being required when it's the only way to slay Duma outside of Nosferatu is ridiculous. At the very least Echoes gave it more value and narrative importance even if I prefer the Royal Sword over the Kingsfang. No wonder barely anyone talked about Alm's Falchion even to this day. The shield and final map music really stole the show. Don't know, that would be cool but it already had an established canon name so... Makes sense they didn't touch it. Echoes barely renamed anything to the point the cast's japanese names are the same I think. I mean, they did attempt to give Alm's Falchion more memorability by making it an important non missable item and even referred to it differently with an alternative title "Kingsfang", unfortunately that alternative naming title clearly didn't stick in the future appearances involving Alm. They just stuck with the bread and butter: Falchion. Royal Sword is better and deserves to be a constant main weapon. It's used by Alm constantly in Echoes and had more CG and art action than Falchion itself.
  16. They can't all be winners. Even if the Royal Sword isn't Alm's main weapon, it'd be nice seeing it in his moveset options anyway.
  17. Glad we agree. Although technically it's 5 with Itsuki being apart of Heroes, a mainline FE nowadays. However, in terms of official debuts... Yeah, it's 4. The Royal Sword is great and can do anything Valentia's Kingsfang can do skill wise outside of slaying dragon gods that have a specific sealing spell like Duma. Which is extremely niche ability wise in spinoffs and future appearances FE chars are thrown in. It's silly how much shine Royal Sword has yet it's so utterly shafted. It's even on the main box artwork and yet...
  18. Royal Sword really had an increase in memorability and identity from Gaiden. It correlates incredibly well to the themes and Celica's new prf sword: Beloved Zofia. It also helps give Alm a different standout weapon than being another Falchion user among Falchion users. Alm's Falchion is easily the least standout, has the least screentime and completely vanishes off the face of the earth, . With his amiibo completely locking Alm in future games with compatibility or just general spinoffs featuring FE characters. I really hope we don't have another Heroes where Royal Sword was completely shafted.
  19. To be fair, Byleth's still an important part of Three Houses and easily the best choice of neutral representation without favoring a house.
  20. Her efforts benefited Zofia as a whole though. Despite her not successfully beating Jedah, she handled the majority of his cult and the pirate problem of Zofia. Guys that would've undeniably been problems in the future and Alm was too busy with the war to give much notice to them. Celica ended up being right all along and had the true enemy in mind. Along with finding out more truths about what the hell happened behind everything than Alm. Who needed to be manipulated by Rudolf and saved multiple times by Celica to have any sort of similar opportunity to know the entire truth. Celica doesn't make Alm look perfect. Succeeding in many ways and actively disagreeing with Alm's choice contradict that.
  21. Byleth works well enough as a neutral representation. As you said, FE as a whole won't be defined by Byleth, same for El, Dimitri and Claude. If it comes to the point where including all 3 lords equally isn't a possibility, just throw in Byleth at that point. Yeah Warriors taking pity on Chrom and giving him an amiibo was such a waste. Should've gave it to someone like Lyn tbh. I hope Sigurd and Seliph get the Alm and Celica amiibo bonus.
  22. Hard for me to say... Byleth is easily the best choice in scenarios that wouldn't have involved all 3 lords like Smash Bros or that Cipher art of all the lords. However, I wouldn't mind them showing up a lot.
  23. Wrong. Celica exists for far different reasons than to prop up Alm, cut your bias because nonarguments like those are a joke. If Celica existed to prop up Alm, she would've instantly hopped on Alm's dick on sight and never disagree with him. If she existed to prop up Alm, Alm wouldn't have needed saving not once but twice.
  24. Follow your Gray pfp and play Echoes. Plenty of similar stuff to Three Houses and even started the Divine Pulse type mechanics with Mila's Turnwheel. The gameplay is simple too and the story... *Chef's Kiss*
  25. His entire journey, his choice to fight in the end of Act 2 despite Celica's disagreements, and proving himself through might despite the developing doubts about his connection to Mycen (challenged about that throughout Act 3) align with Duma.
