  1. To cover a different point about the new Emblems. After spending time with them, these choices only reaffirm my stance that they were the best for DLC add-on type emblems. These characters best play off the current emblems and cast in terms of personality and unit niches. Brought a varied amount of ideas others couldn't really do.
  2. FEH's new characters are all set. They won't get the Cipher character treatment, Alfonse is officially categorized with every other sword lord on that Cipher artwork and now Intsys hammered it home with Veronica.
  3. Nah. SOV and Three Houses has Engage beat in bad DLC value. SOV for how expensive it was with the content it tried to give you and Three Houses having a lot of its DLC consisting of duds with the only worthwhile one being the Wolves. Engage has the decency to consistently sprinkle new emblem characters and story maps throughout at least rather than saving them for only Wave 4. With the state of Emblems and Bracelets, Soren was very necessary. Soren has a better dynamic for Ike and personality on average than Elincia. And considering the Bracelets are meant to interact with and play off the established ring: Elincia's interactions with Ike would've been mediocre in comparison. Oh, additionally, mages have been left behind by the current emblem distribution. They kinda needed a notable mage... badly. He's Radiant Dawn Soren. He just has no notable dynamic with Micaiah. They don't really care for each other much. It's very simple why they chose Camilla. She is leaps and bounds more popular than Azura while having a variety she lacks: flier. They want DLC to sell and Camilla does sell to more people than Azura. They have the data and it's been set that she's far more iconic and valuable than Azura.
  4. Abyme. She's cute. You're right on the money. It wasn't all that silly. Fogado not wanting his mom in danger made sense even if it's a shame she's not playable.
  5. Recency bias in a voting event where the fanbase finds a lot of the current options staler and staler goes crazy. Especially when most of the top Engage contenders are plot relevant, likable, and/or have massive memes (Yunaka).
  6. Not true. Every character had a gimmick and a trait that aligned with them more. Some games were just better at masking it because the supports were far more limited on average. The average GBA character have about as much traits and personality as an Awakening era onward. The real issue is just that sometimes, the character just won't do it for people. Even the "insufferable psycho killer character that threatens our own allies" shtick was done before with Karel. I heavily disagree. It won't dominate multiple times in a row like 3H has. But the competition's died down drastically. If Gullveig can sneak a win then Engage has enough to dominate for 1 year. Yunaka and Ivy are hits and already developed front loaded campaigns to win CYL.
  7. It can count. Both Cain and Abel similarly serve Marth and think highly of him. And in the supports overall, Framme shows to be loud and brash while Clanne is more of the smarter and softer spoken one.
  8. I greatly enjoy Alear as a character and protagonist. Not only do they have noticeable flaws but outside of Leif, Alear is the only protagonist to mess up majorly in any way that matters. Along with having long lasting effects and consequences for it to boot.
  9. A game where we redeem the villain would be fun but Engage was not that game. Sombron would've been a terrible fit especially with the backstory details given.
  10. The players don't but Alear definitely does. Their entire reaction just contradicts them not feeling anything, at the end of the day she is their mom and Alear was alone at that point of the story. I don't think Lumera's death was supposed to be some big moment that the players feel something for but rather a shift in the story and a justification for anything Alear does at that point.
  11. I can't believe I'm having to say this... Nobody acts the same, at all. There's loads of cases of people acting younger or older than their age. It's also a Japanese game so it's a cultural difference as well.
  12. Disagree. There's all sorts of young teenagers that act like Clanne and Framme, especially when it comes to their crush/idol. Have you seen how cringe they can get?
  13. Huh? Fire Emblem always had the most relevant characters to the story be the ones closest to the main character, usually in the form of a royal. Side characters being replaceable and irrelevant to the story has been a staple for the permadeath system. That's not really a fair strike against the game's story.
  14. Not sure if I agree about that being a representation of the game at large. The MC suck-up can be really bad though like a lot of other FE games.
  15. All the rings being the stock Fire Emblem protagonists is the entire reason they'd go for these bracelet DLC choices though. The unexpected but prominent picks of the DLC would appeal to way more people than just the brigade of lord leftovers. Especially now that we know that these characters are getting a full fledged story of their own in a different world(?). It'd be better to try something new.
  16. Tiki's dialogue also confirms that the Braclets won't be an add-on to Alear's story and instead having one of their own with Wave 4. That's good.
  17. I do think after the gloomy nature of 3 Houses, Engage is a nice palette cleanser. I will never get over so many dark issues that the main characters just ignore. What Abyss meant for so many people and how the Gonerils treated any captured Almyrans. Nobody really cared and I loathe that.
  18. Alfred will singlehandedly improve the reception of Firene and I'm here for it. Dude's a really fun character, I can see why Celine calls him a barbarian.
  19. After seeing Tiki's conversation: the conversation in question starts to confirm the Bracelets' are going to have their own story and battle in Wave 4 rather than just optional drops. That honestly makes me more accepting toward the supposedly leaked DLC bracelet lineup.
  20. In my opinion? Not really. It, like the rest of 3 Hopes, heavily depend on you being invested into 3 Houses prior. It uses 3 Houses events as an excuse for faster pacing since they want to tell a different story. It has its flaws but it's nowhere near as bad and "character assassinating" as people claim.
  21. Fates? The game that had a character who's implied to be important die from a generic enemy? Not even close. No game will ever be Fates tier not even the divisive "Golden Wildfire".
