  1. My biggest problem with the lack of a post game is that in order to play what they consider post-game you have to buy a nintendo subscription or you're out of luck for over 2/3rds of it. Honestly I don't like part of the game being locked behind a piss poor excuse for an online service.
  2. I am playing on hard and remember my first skirmish on the chapter 5 map which is what introduced me to the idea that I'm not leveling anyone up on these maps I'm trying to survive.
  3. So if paired endings are actually gone do we at least get an epilogue with all the characters or is that too much to hope? For that matter what's the chance they add paired endings back in the expansion pass (or as free post-launch dlc) if enough people are upset about it? Not only would it make a lot of people happy but it might also be used a marketing ploy to get people to pick up the expansion pass so they can replay the game with new content to also see the new endings (and possibly include the new characters). (edit: ah so it looks like ending slides are still a thing just no definitive pairings. I'm a bit more accepting of this but still a bit of a disappointment. They definitely over corrected) For that matter what is the replay value for the game currently? Do we have any further information on the Growth menu or know if there is a harder difficulty or any extra benefits to replaying the game?
  4. Ah yeah it did look like her just the short hair was throwing me to question it; that said though do we think there will another character from the remaining two regions playable to keep the amount from each region consistent?
  5. Hey if we get 5 additional characters with new unit types, new supports (for each route), new maps, and new campaign/story missions/paralogues then maybe the dlc will be worth actually giving them money for. That's assuming all this content is not half-assed like the rest of the dlc has been. Any chance the other church of seiros unit could be the teacher that ran away at the beginning of the game...I feel like that's a character they might add into the game that could have a unique personality.
  6. More disappointment as I just tried the sauna and not only is it useless but I just realized the sauna costume (which is dumb as all hell considering you don't go into saunas clothed like that) is essentially just a reskin of the volleyball uniform. They could have easily just put everyone in towels and it being dlc means it would have been optional to actually do (most of the dlc has been toggable). Hell if characters actually talked to one another in the sauna it would have given us something besides just raising support points through a process that takes far too long compared to other methods. It couldn't be more half-assed if they tried. At least the characters battle wise are decent although even those have problems with completely uninteresting personal skills for both. Also the animal feature is an insult to injury...biggest complaint (joking or not) people had with the game is couldn't pet the animals and they go and make it paid dlc. That said the feature is still terrible and adds nothing to the game. Not a fan of dogs or cats so this too does nothing for me. At least Jeritza (a character they made free probably because was originally intended to be in the main game and got cut for time) seems like a good addition to the one route he's playable in. edit: Just realized Anna can't become a dancer to take advantage of her charm growths so looks like she's even worse now. note: A lot of this is just nitpicking but I genuinely believe this dlc not worth paying for and urge people to skip all of it unless the next wave of content is worth the price of half the game. Wouldn't pay more than 5 dollars for everything they've released so far (most of it doesn't look like they put any thought or effort into it at all) and that is being generous.
  7. Fire Emblem Three Houses DLC has been so disappointing and honestly the only thing actually worth it they already made for a free update...think this is the last time I support Fire Emblem DLC practices if this is how terrible it's going to be. They couldn't be assed to give Jeritza more than two supports, didn't bother giving Anna any, the pet feature is ridiculously dumb (to be paid for when most people meant it as a joke), the sauna is again a joke of a feature and was obviously cut from the main game and probably needed to be added in the free update (because it does nothing), the costumes couldn't be worse if they tried (would it kill them to differentiate the damn things by character by either color or look), and the only good parts of any of the DLC so far have been that they come on the same day the free updates do. I should have known the minute they tried to say two small pre-order costumes were a "wave" of content that we were going to get ripped off. I think to add insult to injury is that they easily could have given us more content if they had bothered to actually wait and release it a month later like they were originally intending. Overall yet another very disappointing addition to the dlc. This could have been great but so far it's been nothing but a joke and I do not suggest anyone pick it up with the current content offered from it...you're better off with just getting the free updates. Such a disappointing "wave" of content. Skip it and hope the last piece of content makes up for the other three (and that it alone is worth 25 dollars because nothing else has come close).
  8. I really hope that IS doesn't go the gender lock route after seeing how upset people were about it. Anna already has the Crest of Ernest according to her already in the game model and it makes no sense to give Juris that particular crest. The lack of charm is also yet another indicator that this is either false information or purposely altered info. They spelled "Golden Deers" instead of "Golden Deer". You can see the same mistake made with the "Knight of Seiros" when it should be the "Knights of Seiros". It is quite likely that the next nintendo-esque direct will be solely for the new pokemon game. We will probably not see a proper direct until November/December. The skill Take Off would probably be much more aptly named as Pick Up instead if it were real. There's also the simple fact that most leakers are not that obvious about it. Now sure there's a chance this is legit because spelling errors aren't impossible but honestly I doubt it. edit: That said however there is evidence of unused lines and scenarios in the data files so perhaps each route will get a split at a certain point...there were a few instances where it felt like it could have occurred. Perhaps these new characters are added because you lose some units in each route. Specifically I'm thinking about the cut content of Annette and Felix being enemies and having lines of dialogue for being defeated in the data files. There's a point in the post time-skip where route split could have definitely occurred in every route as well. Perhaps they were intending to release route splits for each House and just didn't manage to have enough time to do so before the game released...something to think about.
  9. Just started a new run of the game and I'm using a dice program ( Dungeons & Dragons Dice Roller ) to choose multiple aspects of the game to try and make things a bit more interesting until a higher difficulty releases. As I continue to playing the game I'll post about how the run is going. If anyone has any additional ideas or challenges feel free to share. Here's the format I've followed although it's basically just me rolling a dice for each of the bigger gameplay decisions; For those curious here's what I rolled.
  10. Hopefully Nintendo of America (Treehouse) will learn from the mistakes of Fates. The fact a game like xenoblade chronicles 2 was able to be released makes me hopeful that there will be minimal interference on their part since more mature games like wolfenstein, skyrim, eri kitami, etc... have been released or will be releasing on their store with no Nintendo interference. Perhaps the switch really is trying to cater to all ages and not try and make all of their games accessible to everyone. Hell if the game is released world-wide this massive differentiation between scripts will hopefully completely be non-existent as they could easily just make the game for the world rather than one country. This is Treehouse's last chance with me and if they mess it up I'll just never buy another treehouse worked on product again. Assuming of course treehouse is who is working on it...
  11. Fire Emblem: Switch of Destiny Fire Emblem: Ashes of Sorrow Fire Emblem: Origin of Shadow
  12. This may be a crappier answer but I'm pretty sure you could make arguments for either gender being canon in either game considering they've already gone over the fact alternate timelines/realities can and do exist. The only other way you could possibly determine canonicalness is for some of the children who have specific hair colors that correlate to certain pairings. But even then you can use the above argument to explain that away as well. Oddly enough they managed to come up with a way to explain why the avatar or corrin can be a different gender and things can be completely different.
  13. Here's the thing as much as the create-a-character system is a mixed bag it is one of the main reasons that Fire Emblem has managed to come back. FE13 managed to awaken the drive to play fire emblem in completely new fans and I don't care what anyone says but receiving new fans is a good thing. The franchise itself was by their own accounts going to end had they not managed to succeed with that game. I'm sure it would have been brought back years down the line but it would have been temporarily dead. We have the character creation system, children, and romance to thank for the continued success of the franchise. As such most new fire emblem fans have not really played anything beyond Awakening, Fates, and Echoes and there are now certain features people expect from the franchise. The series has evolved and although many people think it's for the worst, I more or less disagree. The character creation system has potential to be excellent. There are however two major problem I have been seeing with how it is handled. The first is that they make the create a character the central figure from the story from the get go or they give you a create a character that already has a character. It's not a creation of your own if you are being led down a path. Awakening worked slightly better in that you were not immediately the focus of the story and instead you were a side character or a dual protagonist. I think Awakening had the better story by far for this. All they would need to do to make the create a character system work is to simply not give you the main character role...you could just as easily be a random soldier that gets thrown in the war. They could have you create your own pre-determined background within the setting. I believe the character creation system can work it's just a matter of how it's implemented. The fact it's been in the two newest games of the series and that a lot of new players seemed to have found Valentia boring and the characters uninteresting seems to push the idea forward that the games to continue being successful need to stick with both new and old systems and hopefully they can make them work so that both old and new players can enjoy the games.. Children is another interesting feature that I believe if done right it could easily be used again. It's not necessary but I wouldn't be opposed if it returns. The issue is that it needs to make some sort of sense or have some sort of explanation around it. The way children worked in Fates made no sense, had no plot relevance, and was more or less ignored outside of paralogues. If children are done in the game again they have to be their own characters and they need to interact with the world around them or what is the point? Give them more supports have more unique supports depending on parents (both father and mother), have them have supports with other characters besides kids and family, have mentors, have heroes, etc... Hell I could have forgiven the way they did children in Fates had the children had a presence in Fates that actually mattered. So I have no problem with children if they can do it right. Romance is hopefully a given but there are definitely other ways characters can interact besides romance...perhaps have multiple different types of supports. Romance, best friend, rivals, family, etc... Who is to say the supports need to only be romance? I think it would be quite interesting if you had a created character develop a rivalry with another character and through the course of the story the rival would do things to try and make things more difficult or push you to do better. There's a lot that they could do but even if they didn't I think romance is definitely something that the game should have they could perhaps change the way they do the romance but I do rather enjoy the feature. Getting rid of features is not going to help the game get better it's just going to make the game unable to adapt to changing environments and players. If people see these features removed the average person playing who has played one of the other recent games will claim that features have been removed and that the game is lazy for not adding as much content...(some of the responses to Valentia are apparently like that). The game needs to appeal to both old and new players and as a person who used to play pokemon games there is nothing more annoying than features being removed from a future entry that people liked from an earlier one. I think generally the issue here is less do we want these features to remain...which I'm sure for anyone who wants to see the franchise grow they will say yes. The issue is how they are implemented and whether or not they can be used well. If they can't be done well why would anyone want these features to begin with? We should hope and expect them to expand and further craft these features to the best they can possibly make them rather than just remove them altogether. I'd prefer to see them try and fail than to simply give up. The one thing I do not want to see in the game is shoveling snow or Mr. Fuga's Wild Ride in any shape or form. Hopefully they can improve their writing and story telling and make an interesting fire emblem with interesting characters and excellent tactical gameplay. I am also hoping however that a switch will actually be available for 299 or less by the time the game actually releases...bloody nintendo.
