  1. So since I don't really use any other forums and Google's not really helping me, I thought I'd ask here and hope that someone can help me out. I'm trying to help my friend find an apartment to move in to with her sister as they really need to move out (my friend is currently living with her now-ex boyfriend whose a bit controlling and her sister is living with her fiancée whose mentally abusive...). Unfortunately, her sister has a dog which makes finding an apartment even harder than it already is since most places don't accept dogs it seems, and she would need to take the dog with her. Are there any good websites or anything you suggest? My friend pays $1400 per month for her apartment now if that helps, so anything around that price would be good.

Edit: In the United States, more specifically the state of New York.

  2. Most of the translation patches that are provided on this site are outdated, except for FE6: https://serenesforest.net/general/translation-patches-and-hacks/

I think it could use a revamp. A while back I made a thread on all the most current and up-to-date translation patches, if you need to see which ones should replace the ones at the above link: https://forums.serenesforest.net/index.php?/topic/93899-all-currentup-to-date-translation-patches/

  3. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for the DS (FE 11) is a remake of the first game, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light for the NES.

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem for the DS (FE 12) is a remake of book 2 of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem for the SNES (FE 3). (FE 3 is divided into 2 books, the first book is basically just the first game and the second book is a sequel). Some people actually prefer the original over the remake, others prefer the remake.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia for the 3DS (FE 15) is a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden for the NES (FE 2). The remake is superior over the original in every way.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War (FE 4) and Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (FE 5), both for the SNES do not have remakes yet. I think you should try them out, especially FE 4 to experience the story. FE 5 is considered to be one of the hardest games though, especially for newer players.

FE's 1-6 (FE 6 is the first GBA game) and FE 12 are not released outside of Japan so you would need a translation patch in order to play them in English.

Why have a translation with localised names in?  Personally I prefer Shiida to Caeda.

I just saw this reply :/. I do prefer the localized names but I found out that someone is actually working on a patch to change the names and improve the dialogue. So nvm xD.

Thanks for the updates, I'll look into them soon.

However we do have the appropriate thread in the SNES and NES general.

True, but I thought it would be nice to have a thread with all of them listed in one place in the General Fire Emblem. To my knowledge, there isn't a thread that has all the games listed with the most up-to-date patches. And like I said in the opening post the one that we do have hasn't been updated since 2015 and a lot of the patches that are listed there are old and outdated (for example, it doesn't list Project Naga as the current translation for FE4). And since TearRing Saga & Berwick Saga are part of the forums, I feel like those patches should be included as well. It would make it easier for someone whose looking for all the best translation patches if we have it all compiled in one thread.

  6. So I know there's already a thread pinned in this forum with a list of translation patches. However, that thread hasn't been updated since 2015 and a lot of the patches that are listed aren't really the best ones. I wanted to list all the best English translation patches for all Fire Emblem games not released outside of Japan, including the ones for TearRing Saga and Berwick Saga, so here you go!

    Main Fire Emblem Games

    1. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (note - this game has been officially localized for the nintendo switch on December 4, 2020 but will only be available for purchase until March 31, 2021. If you haven't bought it after that date, this patch will be the only way to play this game in English)

    2. Fire Emblem Gaiden

    3. Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem

    Current patch: https://forums.serenesforest.net/index.php?/topic/88484-fe3-translation-patch-bugfix-update-current-version-020/

    In-progress patch: https://forums.serenesforest.net/index.php?/topic/93118-mystery-of-the-emblem-modern-translation-project/

The first link I listed for this one is the current patch that you can play. However, there's another patch currently being worked on where they are re-translating the dialogue and updating the names to match the official ones used in Fire Emblem Heroes. They have a discord if you want to check out their progress.

Why would Nintendo bother updating this game when it won't be available for purchase after the 31st of March 2021? If it wasn't a limited-time release they would update it, but it's only available for the next three-and-a-bit months.

I mean, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is also a limited-time release but it still got an update.

I don't see why turning up the system brightness (in handheld mode) wouldn't be enough to address this. Like, I was just playing a minute ago. It's kind of dark, sure, but I don't see this factor affecting my enjoyment.

Anyway, if the article is accurate (that this game is based on the Wii U VC version, and not the Japanese Switch one), then fixing the brightness might take more work than you'd think. They may have to "re-localize" everything.

Damn, that's unfortunate :/. Oh well, it's not like a huge deal, just something that irks me a tiny bit haha.

  9. So I recently found this article where they talk about FE1 on the switch being too dark compared to the original: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/12/why_is_fire_emblem_so_dark_on_switch_it_reportedly_runs_on_the_same_emulator_used_on_wii_u

Don't get me wrong, I love that they finally translated this game officially into English, but the colors being so darkened and washed out kinda bothers me a little. Anyone else? Judging by some of the comments on the article and the tweet that they linked to, it seems there are other people that feel the same way. Do you think they can add a patch or an update to turn up the brightness to the levels that they should be? It doesn't seem like it would be a hard thing to fix.

I have an issue where the game doesn't save with this patch. Emulators don't generate a .sav whenever I save the game. It seems to work with other patches and I've seen this problem on FCEUX and Mesen.

I have the same issue, I've tried it with both Mesen and Nestopia but the game doesn't make a save file on either. I wonder why that is.
