  1. I feel like this game is one of my favorites in the franchise for a few different reasons. The presentation, from the voice acting (ranging from decent to really good), to the MUCH better visuals, to the musical score that makes my knees weak, was incredible. The gameplay, while having a few undeniable flaws (the only one of which that actually annoys me being swamps. I hate the damn swamps), is thoroughly enjoyable to me, and there is enough replay value built in with the villagers and the free dlc to make me want to try different things. Hard felt like a rewarding experience for almost every chapter (except Nuibaba's Abode. God how I hated it), and while I took a break after beating the main story -- and as a result have not delved into the short-but-interesting postgame -- I am excited to do so now. I'm just starting a second playthrough, on Normal this time, because I want to be able to slow down and experience the narrative (which I find to simple, but effective and well told. Yes, I'm aware of the plot's weak points, I just don't mind them as much). I also just bought, played, and enjoyed the Rise of the Deliverance DLC for the first time tonight. On one hand, holy shit I feel so much more for Fernand than I already did, and while the maps were simple and not inherently interesting, the story and character buildup around them was what I cared about, and I feel like they delivered. They delivered so strongly, in fact, that I honestly think this DLC should have been the game's prologue by default, but hey. I find myself putting this game in my top three FE games, because I am generally a story focused gamer, and this is very much a presentation and narrative focused fire emblem game. Can't claim open fields are game-mechanics heavy map designs, so it's not a gameplay focus. I appreciate SoV greatly, and I hope it emboldens IS to make more Echoes games, and make the small changes and tweaks to the old games (FE4? Please?).
  2. I only just upgraded the fire orb to 3, so not yet
  3. Oh okay, that's good to know. I went and recruited Soleil. Effie got WF, everyone else got some levels. Soleil is looking strong, but without that HS I cant abuse Hunter Knife. I think I can do it though
  4. My party is a little bit in a bad spot right now, I made a few mistakes playing foolishly at 1 am, because I felt like playing and didn't realize how tired I was. My team (of units strong enough to be worth using) is as follows: Cornflake - lvl6 Paladin: 22 str, 5 mag, 29 skl, 23 spd, 27 lck, 22 def, 14 res Laslow - lvl6 Hero: 26 str, 0 mag, 29 skl, 17 spd, 26 lck, 17 def, 8 res (NOTES: He hasn't learned Sol yet...he's learning the Fighter skills. Have I played this game as much as I have without realizing something about skills or am I just dumb and didn't notice before?) Niles - lvl6 Bow Knight: 16 str, 4 mag, 20 skl, 25 spd, 11 lck, 13 def, 23 res Odin - lvl6 Sorcerer: 11 str, 21 mag, 22 skl, 18 spd, 20 lck, 17 def, 19 res (NOTE: Has samurai skills) Ophelia - lvl28 Witch: 6 str, 32 mag, 18 skl, 26 spd, 31 (capped) lck, 10 def, 19 res (NOTE: Has Vantage and Vengeance) Elise - lvl8 Strategist: 6 str, 26 mag, 7 skl (ugh), 19 spd, 27 lck, 8 def, 22 res Nina - lvl4 Adventurer: 18 str, 15 mag, 20 skl, 26 spd, 23 lck, 9 def, 23 res (NOTE: Has Rally Skill from Niles) Camilla - lvl8 Malig Knight: 26 str, 14 mag, 20 skl, 24 spd, 14 lck, 21 def, 20 res Keaton - Lvl6 Wolfssenger: 30 str, 0 mag, 14 skl, 22 spd, 15 lck, 22 def, 9 res (Note: Has Fighter skills + Rally Strength --- I wanted to make Velouria have both physical rally skills, but unfortunately for Camilla one of those 1 am mistakes was selling a heart seal on accident. Soo....yeah.) Xander - lvl5 Paladin: 27 str, 4 mag, 20 skl, 19 spd, 25 lck, 28 def, 14 res (Including siegfried bonus is stat spread) Leo - lvl4 Dark Knight: 16 str, 23 mag, 15 skl, 18 spd, 21 lck, 17 def, 25 res Azura is lvl 20, Effie doesn't have wary fighter because I didn't field her in Zola's chapter, so she gets one-rounded by the furries. Shigure is a joke as usual, no strength at all. Jakob is lvl19. Silas is lvl2 paladin.
  5. I have no Hunter's Bows --- those would be nice to have, but I can't buy them. I have exactly one Beast Killer, and nobody that is strong can use Hunter's Knives yet. I'm about to grab Soleil to get my MN, but she won't have the dagger rank for it. I'll figure something out
  6. I have reached the Furry Genocide. I have no idea how I'm gonna tackle this chapter, because unfortunately it isn't "Defeat the Boss" which I can do it 3 turns. Everything with a chance to one shot the heathens has roughly 60% hitrate, and shockingly Keaton is the only one I can use to bait them in, with the beastrune and Camilla pair up he can take 3 hits. Barely.
  7. I have a forged lightning on Odin rn, so that was going to be my kill plan. Either him or Ophelia use it.
  8. I fucked up and HS'ed early to get Elbow Room and Defender, I'm gonna switch back to grab it soon. Might just stay in Nohr Noble tbh
  9. Enfeeble spam and pray is going to be my strat
  10. I usually use Kaze, but I felt like he wasn't needed this route. Also, just cleared the ninja cave. I had an easier time actually NOT bringing my full complement of units -- and the units I brought and beat it with were behind on exp, and now they are caught up. Kotaro though, I swear he's the hardest non-final boss in all of Fates. Good thing Silver Shuriken debuffs his ass.
  11. I'll be honest, getting LoD on Ophelia sounds like a massive pain in my ass, so no. Additionally, with Elise as her mother, her defense is practically negative, so I don't want to risk getting oneshot lategame because of the +10 dmg from LoD -- nos is useless if you get oneshot (implying nostanking with Ophelia -- not the plan, but also not an impossibility) I'm gonna go back to Sorcerer after I get Warp because of Bowbreaker for endgame. Getting trample on Ophelia is equally a pain in the ass, though I am much more inclined to think Trample is worth it for her than LoD. I don't like double-edged swords if they're avoidable. Silas is a 20/2 Paladin and his stats are weaker than 18/1 Adventurer Nina's in everything except str (by 3 points) and def (the only significant difference). He's just not worth the slot at this point. Kaze hasn't been deployed since ch.12 because I haven't had any need of him. I just gave both Nina and Niles Iron Bow +1, and they're doin just fine.
  12. So I got Nina, made her an Adventurer (Azura is the mother, Niles gave her Rally Skill) because I like staff utility. She looks usable this time around, and just in time for a chapter that takes forever: The Ninja Cave. Calamity Gate Ophelia + Niles/Nina is going to be super useful, even if I hate this chapter. Soleil is unlocked, but I want to wait until Laslow levels up one more time and gets Sol before I grab her up. Gonna MN her too methinks. Is it worth getting Forrest and Siegbert? I don't see myself getting Xander and Leo paired up before like chapter 23 at the earliest without using the grind DLC. Wives would be Peri and Nyx respectively, unless y'all got a better option. Jakob is also unpaired, so Dwyer is kinda up in the air on existence. Silas has by this point fallen off, and Corrin just doesn't get into VoF range anymore (Paladin Corrin is just slaughtering things), so I think he's benched now. He was indispensable early, but his time has come and gone. Niles has managed to gain a few points of strength, so he ISN'T garbage for me for the first time ever. Keaton got Rally Strength and I HS him back into Wolfsengger, where he is looking quite solid. Next plans of action are to get the remaining heart seals I need for Soleil, Camilla (to Wyvern Lord), and maybe another kid. Shigure will have rally skill and rally speed as a pegasus knight, and then I'm probably gonna make him a Kinshi Knight because I like them. Kana is garbage, as usual, so nah. He was an exp chapter. Percy isn't being used, because frankly I don't get why he's considered good. He's never turned out well for me. Leo is lagging behind in levels, but I'm not sure who I can replace him with. Should I even keep fielding Jakob by this point? Soleil is gonna cover knives when I get her, and Nina is my second healer now, idk if I need 3. Xander is too good not to use, and Bryhildr is just strong as hell.
  13. I know its not, but there's no reason not to grab it right now. It's a chance for more damage, not gonna complain about that. It will probably get replaced by something else later down the line.
  14. So I got Murderphelia. She got Vantage from Odin, I'm gonna get her Vengeance from Sorc and then make her a Witch. Why? Because Takumi's wall. Me skipping half of that map quickly requires Warp abuse, and I will fucking use it. Elise is her mom, so she's busted now. I HS Keaton into Berserker, and I'm gonna pair him with Camilla (who I will HS into Wyvern Lord), with the plan being a Rally Str and Rally Def velouria. Clarify DracoPit? I'm not up to date on lingo, clearly. Why is Percy so good/important? He's always mothered by Effie and I've always found him to be mediocre at best.
  15. I mean, I've been given and applied some good advice from these two throwing things at eachother. It's also fun to watch
  16. On on chapter 13 now, and I've had to reset a few times (stupid placements, nothing bad or even truly difficult). At this point Odin is promoted to Sorcerer, as he gained a lot of exp soloing a lot of ch.12, and now he can comfortably solo the right half of the map if he wants to. I did dip into samurai to give him vantage of course. I debated Dark Knight, but I'm really not a fan of that class for non-Corrin/Leo. I had no idea it would even be a viable thing. It's crazy. Effie and Arthur made Percy, haven't gone and grabbed him yet (his chapter always causes me problems). While we are on the subject, which kids should I get ASAP and which should I wait for Childhood Seals? Corrin and Silas are the next to promote -- idk if I'm even going to HS Cornflake into her cavalier first (I probably should for shelter and elbow room). Still finding a husband for Camilla, Laslow and Harlot look to create the best overall Soleil based off the growths calc I'm using. Waiting for Jakob to get Tomebreaker before I reclass him at all. Need to find a wife for him too, even if Dwyer is kinda...meh, with a completely defunct personal.
  17. Yeah, I'll just go solo the map with Camilla, how absolutely stupid of me. Gawsh.
  18. Alright, so I did wind up restarting because I was too curious about Odin being a good nos tank. He is indeed a good nos tank, and Chapter 10 did go much smoother as a result. As for VoF, It definitely makes a difference and I do feel like it is good, it isn't at all broken. It makes Silas a good unit, as opposed to an average (and therefore bad) unit when it is in effect. VoF + S support with Cornflake bonuses makes a lot of difference. Working on pairing Odin and Elise, Effie and Arthur, and debating Niles and Camilla. I've again found that Niles has not gained a point of strength in the last three or four levels -- he is two levels up on Kaze and still has goddamn 11 strength. He's actually garbage, fails to kill anything that isn't flying. I've never had him be good. Seeing the dragon vein get moved in ch.12 is mean and annoying. Not sure how I'm going to go about beating that chapter this time.
  19. Master Ninja Soleil with Charlotte as her mother has the following growths: 50 hp 62.5 str 0 mag 55 skl 62.5 spd 45 luck 32.5 def 42.5 red Those look decent to me. Not stellar, but respectable. I don't think sol is as bad as Levant says, nor do I think it's as reliable as you claim. That said, Soleil will be fine with it, considering she has Good Fortune + Strong Riposte to start, inherits presumably sol from Laslow and what, HP +5 from Harlot? Maybe Gamble, as bad as it is? so that's 4 skills, then comes her personal skill, making 5. 6 total skill slots, and she doesn't really need like, lethality, so you're really choosing between locktouch and poison strike, unless you ditch Good Fortune (which, you know, is probably the right choice, meh as it is). Come endgame, if she hits 15, you delete locktouch for Shurikenfaire if you want. It's not much of a wasted skill slot to have Sol on Soleil. Unless you make Laslow a BK and pass down Shurikenbreaker, and have Soleil HS after learning Sol naturally. But I feel safe in having extreme doubts about throwing MN Soleil into a horde of enemies a la Awakening Morgan.
  20. Over every other what? something got lost in the edit I think. I'm fine by it, as Soleil is my favorite kid and has one of my favorite maps in the franchise.
  21. I'm aware of the for Dummies series. It was the rest in combination that contributed to that perception, so apologies. Also, I do agree with Levant here, Silas is so much of a mediocre unit that risking >=50% hp corrin in a map to make him usable just isn't worth it. Vow of Friendship doesn't cut it for Silas, especially considering that he very often fails to double anything. Clarifying stack is actually very helpful, I do intend on abusing that. Going back a ways, how is Nos!Odin even viable on lunatic? The only way I managed to make Odin good in Hard was to HS him into Samurai or make him a Grandmaster.
  22. Yeah, I'm not a fan of them. If I feel like using a fighter/zerker, I'll reclass Beruka. But that means using Beruka, and she's just so slow -- meant to be a flying tank I guess. Putting your condescension aside, I too can throw around small groups of letters with some degree of meaning. Clarify. Also, why would I not use the kids? A few of them are worth using, for example I'm probably going to wind up using Nina, just because Niles has never managed to get higher than 14 strength as a bow knight before the ninja cave, and therefore isn't pulling his weight. And that's on any of my now-several hard playthroughs, I don't expect different performance here. Remember this is my first time through lunatic -- I'm not intending to follow any elitist ruleset for this. I don't particularly care about turncount either, arbitrary judgement points of efficiency are irrelevant to me on my first time through.
  23. Its too late for that -- I'm not going to grind him up from level 5, as much as I love him. His stats are too mediocre for me to use, and nostanking seems as viable as on Hard -- Not.
