I am a man but try playing as the female heroine to see if the writing, interactions and gameplay reflect gender differences, according to the period when the story takes places. 'Fates' simply disregards all of this, but I still have mostly played as adult female Corrin.

I have only played 'Conquest'. On my first campaign, Corrin married Silas, who felt like the 'natural' choice. I then played various campaigns with no S-Supports (at all), and lately have been marrying Corrin to Odin, because I like his personality and because I wanted to try Nohr Noble Ophelia.
As adult male Corrin, my character married Anna.

In my opinion, marrying the avatar to the kids feels wrong. I understand medieval characters marrying at fourteen or fifteen years of age, but the children in 'Fates' are written as kids. It is the interaction with them which feels unnatural.

This is probably stressed by my dislike of the appearance of the 'kid' avatars, thus I have only played as an 'adult' avatar.
Little female Corrin looks hideous. She has no neck! What is wrong with the artists? A game with no feet, then avatars with no neck.

Aren't they all adults though besides Kanna? And thats why Kanna cant marry them or anything. Besides theres a lot of dialogue saying their only adults and what not. Such as Midori mentioning shes only short and so on.

Don't worry. The police is on their way.
    Nah, just kidding XD
I agree 100% with the both of you. Their support chains with Corrin genuinely warm my heart. Kind of like Nowi's with Robin in Awakening.

As a side note: Elise makes a pretty strong Dragonstone Kana and you can get her much earlier than, say, Ophelia!Kana or Nyx!Kana (since Elise joins very early in Conquest and still early enough in Rev), too, if we want to take gameplay into consideration.

Hahahah, I laughed too hard at this lmao...

I think I went for witch Elise since her magic stat was pretty high, I dont remember what I did with Kanna though because I think that was my fifth or sixth playthrough and I stopped playing around that time lol.

Actually, I would too. As long as the arena is fixed, I'd like a little hub area to roam around in, or anything to advert time or to think of a strategy while listening to the OST in game.

Yeah being able to actually walk around is a plus. The 3ds had limitations obviously but Id love to do that. The best part was the ost and the multiplayer capture functions.

Speaking of, Midori and Elise are both on my list of characters to marry in future runs (I find the support chain with the former in particular to be rather sweet).

Also, as for the thread, wound up marrying Sakura and Caeldori in addition to all those I mentioned earlier.

Midori's support is really sweet. I love how she takes care of the avatar while he's sick, Elise's is sweet as well. Something about their personalities just warms my heart.

  5. The gameplay is really good, especially in conquest. Theres just so many class options, I found myself doing multiple playthroughs to have each character be different classes. The music is phenomenal as well, road taken is defintley one of my favorite rpg songs atm.

However the story is pretty lukewarm and a bit disappointing. If you're going to get it do it for gameplay alone.

  6. I like dread fighter because of the utility, I feel like its a class that gets overlooked too much. Valkyrie is also pretty neat, but I was sad to see what they did to it in fates. Maid and butler is pretty cool as well, I honestly hope it returns, having a staff class with a ranged weapon was just really appealing. Tactician was also very cool, I liked the idea of a foot soldier using magic and swords.

  7. Poor Elise. Eh oh well.

    Conquest: Elise and Midori

Birthright: Female avatar married Yukimura male avatar married Caeldori.

Revelation: I married Selena as a male avatar and Fuga as a female.

This one seems weird as well. I hope it's not a Fates thing where we have to buy another version of the game to get the other story. And if Dracul is an avatar unit, I hope we can pick a certain personality type that closer corresponds with our own, instead of having a bland pacifist.

About Alain, it would seem weird, but also original if we basically design the villain and we have to take them out as the final boss.

Ah, basically reminds me of my own game idea, if they do this then they really are back to making great fire emblem games. Would love to make the main character, only to have the main character be killed at the end.

I also hope the game can explore some pretty dark themes if they really are going for this gothic horror route.

Oh, okay. Yeah. Genealogy makes sense since you get rid of old characters for new ones. Awakening at least made sense in how both 1st and 2nd Gen were able to come together.

Fates also had that potential. Sadly it was lost.

I'm just saying let fates be fates and lets have hope for the new game. I'm sure they learned from past mistakes and will actually make a game with a real story this time and characters that aren't too one dimensional .

No no, please no. The last thing we need is another hyperbolic time chamber baby. If it exists, it at the very least needs to make sense like Awakening did, with the kids being time travelers.

That's what I meant but give them more character. Wouldn't you guys love to see another game like genealogy? Were the kids make a lot more sense?

I'm just saying this game has the potential to be one of the best fe games and that marriage and children arent bad systems as long as they just flesh out the characters. If they get better writers this could be an amazing rpg.

  11. Back on topic though. I really like the concept of the main character being a villain, I just hope they don't make it really corny like some games do. Like I said they should play it off like the early scenes of Persona 5. I had thought that the main character was actually evil in that game.

I do hope they bring back the dingeon crawling from echoes, it made the game a lot more fresh. Marriage and children units are okay with me as long as they give them more character.

So I take it the day and night cycles would be like what we saw in fates but would be more important to the gameplay? Especially if the main character is a vampire.

Also I noticed you guys were talking about how the game could have two paths, but why give us an avatar then have us control Alain? Wouldn't it be better to make an avatar for his army as well then?

I thought it was the whole sex demon (Or whatever) thing. I don't necessarily think that has to be the case but I think that's pretty understandable to cringe at.

I guess I'm just desensitized to a lot of things, as well as I don't use the word cringe since it pretty much has lost it's meaning in this day and age.

I am pretty sure the very fact that she's a succubus would mean that she would have to have the fanservice look, since that's generally how succubus choose to look, as they're supposed to seduce men. So really, Camilla and Tharja genuinely have nothing to do with the fact that it would be fanservice.

That's true. But even Tharja and Camilla held some depth in character, but it just got a little muddled because of how they handled some things. Faye was worse off, lacking any kind of depth to really like her, and she still had that obsession, and not even a busty body to give her some consolation. But nope, she just sucks.

Camilla was a bit better than Tharja, infact I've seen some supports that give Camilla more depth than anything. I can see why people make sexy characters, it brings in customers just like the marriage and kids bought in those kinds of customers too.

It's because a succubus character will probably be like Tharja or Camilla. i.e.: the obvious fanservice character who only has 2 defining traits: her gazongas.

I never had problems with this to be honest. It would be nice to have a sexy character who isn't just obsessed with your character.
