With the release of (presumably) the last of the Emblems with Chrobin and Veronica, there's a question I've had lingering on my mind for a while that's only been reinforced with Veronica's paralogue. Just when in the world are these characters from?

Some Emblems are a bit more obvious than others (thanks Sigurd), but others throw me for a loop. In Veronica's case, she initially acts like she's from Book I of Heroes, but she's dressed up in her getup from Book VI. Now, I haven't gone and seen all of her various dialogues with other characters, but how she's introduced makes it seem like she's backpedaling to her initial depictions, which kinda contradicts her Legendary appearance (unless I'm reading too deeply into things and her current truce with Askr is a ploy of some kind).

Do you think it's possible to pinpoint a time that these characters come from? Or are the Emblems meant to be just a general representation of the heroes of the past?

Veronica is a weird case because all evidence seems to suggest that they originally had Emblem Veronica as her Book 1 design before changing to her Legendary appearance at relatively the last minute because L!Veronica didn't exist not long ago. As you said the characterization is off for this design and she doesn't have Enclosing Dark as an Engage Weapon despite her Emblem holding it during battle.

Medium-spicy-take, coming from someone with little affection for Heroes and less for Warriors. But if they're going to have a Veronica Emblem, then they should've done a Rowan/Lianna Emblem as well. That way, we're really covering the whole series, spinoffs and all (uh let's say Tiki is representing TMS hashtag FE). Having Heroes be the only "Fire Emblem game that's not a Fire Emblem game" represented is... bleh

The difference is that IS clearly doesn't consider Heroes to be a "Fire Emblem game that is not a Fire Emblem game". They don't even consider it a spinoff it's listed with mainline games on the official FE website while Warriors and TMS are in their own spinoff category. They consider Heroes to be a mainline FE just on a mobile device.

I think it's because her tweets were dropped at an awkward time: the forum was down, and we are only days away from Engage release, so everyone just... kinda forget about them

Not to mention this thread is pretty dead now with the Leak thread now going, people are either looking at spoilers or avoiding them

In this podcast a reviewer gives some impressions about the game. What he has to say about characterization and story honestly sounds kinda damning. The story being overly vanilla, the cast very gimmick happen and the worldbuilding consisting of ''these characters are from this country and that's all you'll need to know about the country''

We've heard so many conflicting reports about this at this point that I'm just not gonna trust any of their opinions and judge when I play myself

Oh wow, they weren't very good at the game, letting Vander getting all the kills lol

The game looks gorgeous, so many cutscenes and art, the presentation is top notch.

Map wise, we're already seeing major difficulty differences. We've seen two different unit layouts for Lumera's map, presumably the one in the video is normal mode and the other layout where Lumera is at the top and there are more enemies is hard and maddening. I'm assuming where we've seen Hortensia without Lucina in chapter 7 is normal mode. I guess I'll be playing hard mode.

Okay so I was looking over the videos again and I actually don't think this is the case that the map layouts are that drastically different, looking at the English footage with Lumera not at the top I notice she also isn't Engaged with Sigurd. And since I don't think they'd take that out I think what's actually happening here is that Lumera is in tutorial mode on the bottom and then will move to the top to be the proper chapter boss and call in reinforcements once you defeat her once

This video has the conversation with Velye at the end

...Man I wonder how do all these people get to play the games early

Reputed/respected gaming news outlets and reviewers get sent the game early by Nintendo themselves in order to preview and review the games for marketing purposes before release

I am curious about the order the Emblems will be obtained. Marth is almost certainly gonna be the first, but the others I find trickier to pinpoint. I imagine each kingdom will have two Emblem rings themselves, we have seen that Elusiya (seemingly) has Lyn and Lucina. Queen Eve of Firene says her country has an Emblem ring, and Timerra wears one in her intro cinematic.

Given what what we've seen so far:

    Marth was kept with Alear

We see in the First Fire Emblem video that Lumera is engaged with Sigurd so it's in Lythos with her

I think it's safe to say that Firene has Celica given the early game nature

Roy is confirmed to be with Brodia

Lyn definitely seems to be Elusia

We've seen at least one cutscene of Timerra with Ike so I presume he's with Solm

Yeah but why didn't it get released at the same time? It could've helped with the people that legitimately thought the gacha was gonna ruin the game (among all the other things people try to bring up to hate on the game)

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not saying it shouldn't have been released at the same time or that the marketing hasn't been weird I'm just saying that specific premise is Wrong

Then again, this isn't anything new. Remember the time Japan got a massive, over six minute trailer covering the entirety of the hub, while the west got a horrible trailer that only had "there's day 1 DLC, go pay 30 bucks" to say?

We did get that trailer in English though, it came out a few days after the Japanese version and both were after the DLC trailer

  10. We can see Lumera as an enemy engaged with Sigurd in what I assume is a tutorial map so with that in mind:

    Marth was kept with Alear

Sigurd was kept in Lythos with Lumera

Celica I think is safe to assume is kept in Firene

    Roy was kept with Brodia

We see Lyn and Lucina as enemies with Elusians so maybe both were kept there?

True, but it's kind of weird how there's an similar sequence of events within 3 of the routes while 3 Hopes is significantly different from each other.

I think with Three Houses it's mostly because a lot of the events (especially in Act 1) are kinda independent events completely unrelated to which House Byleth chooses. Like logically speaking Byleth choosing to teach the Blue Lions or the Golden Deer would have zero effect on Lonato planning an uprising or Miklan stealing the Lance of Ruin so those events always happen
