  1. You are being too strict/literal with your defentions here imo. Devolpment can't happen without things like exploration of the charcter so I am more saying it can be both simultaneously and its not mutually exclusively one term or the other situation imo. I am going to not really respond to the block of text about grammar and stuff after that when I think this is a simple disagreement and I see no reason to escalate anything. Nor do I really care to pretend to care about grammar all that much which I don't worry too much about at all myself. My main point in addressing it is to say I don't really think it's anything more than a base level disagreement at most and it is what it is. Let me explain a bit than rephrase what I said: I put it as you asking a question was mainly so I could form my thoughts on why I didn't agree that it wasn't a problem more coherently. It's not for any other purpose than me trying to be more clear with my own thoughts. Also the main reason I picked Gandalf is he is widely known to be smarter than the rest of his allies and why in such situations its still a good idea to have other charcters come up plans and not just have everything be a Gandalf idea which gets repetitive and boring while also taking away moments for other characters to shine. Just because Gandalf is a genius doesn't make the rest of the fellowship dumb. Their are countless examples of genius chatcters and why it's a good idea for them to step back a bit from time to time Gandalf was just one of the most widely known and first to come to mind so that's why I picked him. Doesn't mean he may be the best example of what I was trying to point out. Brining back to FEH and Alfonse specifically it's more of they never really give him the opportunity to step back is the issue. Anna and Sharena don't have be smarter than other charcters to figure out something first as that depends on personal experiences as well. It becomes unrealistic when it feels like he knows more in every area of things. Which I feel it's kind of on the borderline of at the moment. It could be worse defentily but also it could be a ton better.
  2. It is devolpment in the sense it is meant to present him as smart/intelligent as a charcter trait. In order to devolp someone at all we need to know traits of a charcter so in order for a charcter to develop at all their needs to be introduction if traits and if we never get that far no devolpment will happen. Which I would argue is happening if they keep using Alphonse over Sharena and Anna everytime. Also to answer your question about why it's potentially a problem for Alphonse to figure out stuff let's look at LoTRs Ganadalf. Tolkien could had Gandalf do more but at that point it would kind of make readers wonder why Frodo even exists if Gandalf fixed every problem like the classically suggested eagles plan. We wouldn't need to see any devolpment from any other charcter as it can easily be seen as Gandalf solo fixed the problem and the rest could be nameless grunts doing his plan. Also when someone else thinks up a good plan it can be seen as a refreshing change of pace if say they went with a Legolas plan over Gandalf's.
  3. He still gets more relevant moments than Anna or Sharena by far. Last book for instance he is the one who spells out to Seior that Gullveig is her from the future. He is always the one to figure out the main plot points for the book. Would be nice if they let someone else do that.
  4. Thinking about it more I think my main issue I have with the designs of the the beasts (transformed Ratatoskr and the snake) are they are just too pure white and I feel like they would be better as a darker color. Probably unironically a large part of why there is no male oc for any book because Alphonse is the only Askr trio charcter that gets development. So he fills the male oc role every book.
  5. Even without Gullveig winning I think new snake lady would have a tough time. I think people really underestimate how much the snake part of Gullveig did for her and the new snakes are meh at best imo especially compared to Gullveig's. I actually think some of the older beast units are better designed. But it could just be I haven't been won over by the new books style just yet and need to give it some time.
  6. My argument is it would actually give a chance for people to care about feh charcters and lessen new charcter fatigue story wise if they went back to an an established oc. Veronica being in Engage was a big step towards heroes charters and location having a shot at being in a non-mobile game variations of the series. The next step would be make people care more about the existing ocs and the best way to do that is bring them back in the next heroes book in starring roles.
  7. Obviously the expected outcome of new book is an entirely new chacter to go with it. But what if they decide to shake it up and bring back an older oc as the book lead? Who do you think would be some good choices or what would yoy want to see out of an older oc getting a new arc? Freya, Triandra, Plumeria, Lif and Thrasir are some examples of ocs that have ongoing arcs at the moment but with the right setup litterally any older feh charcter could be a book lead even if they were side charcters before.
  8. Thing about Gullveig that I think you are overlooking a bit is just how much chip damage units can take from her. Who need damage reduction piercing when you reduce the unit's to so low hp it doesn't actually matter. You need a unreal amounts of dr to survive at 1 hp which can easily happen with say Gullveig base kit and savage blow seal. Keep in mind that even if you do kill the Gullveig the chip damage is staying for follow up attackers. Brave Gullveig already showed us how much damage multiple flared sparrows can do this is on a cav with an additional galeforce from the special. Also just saying both would be infinitely better as offensive mythics than defensive. Gullveig in particular would be the most perfect offensive mythic ever.
  9. From the looks of the pool it's either her or Eitr for the last slot and for the meting of the banner alone I hope it's Brave Gullveig over Eitr. Although if it's not it would let me build up more orbs for Brave Gullveig return.
  10. Ngl I am kind of hoping Brave Gullveig makes it onto the Predicted Kvasir/Gullveig mythic banner just because it's something that is probably not going to be possible again (brave and mythic of the same book end charcter) Plus it would go with the other heroes that they said were coming back this month (Heior and Seior)
  11. I think the kid thing is more rightfully Northr's fault then anything because it more of she was directed to do it than she wanted to. Don't get me wrong she is attracted to the summoner but even while presenting it to us it's clear she was asked to do so. So it's more of Nothr taking advantage of her personality situation imo. Also on a more general note I think a lot of the things that are in question now could lead somewhere in tempest trial stories or at least I hope so. I could see some genuine carry over to the next book too with Nerpuz at the very least sticking around for a bit as I think they would made more note of her leaving if she did leave given all she did.
  12. With what we have seen from story Gullveig I think she would be much better as an offensive mythic so hoping she is Astra/Light personally because of her multiple attacking nature of her weapon. Her Brave version for instance does so much more as an offensive unit than a defensive one it would be a shame if they try to put her on a defensive role she is not as suited for.
  13. I would argue that it's in fans of SoV best interest for them not to finish it off here as more SoV. Plus I can see arguments for it being business smart too. Finished games makes it less likely there is a banner for that game. So it's kind of a double edged sword.
  14. You are misunderstanding the fact that you don't have to ideological support someone to be functionally be a supporter in very specific circumstances which this happens to be IMO. The difference between Edelgard and Kostas/Metody is that she doesn't actually work towards the chaotic goals of the agarthians and in fact voices her disapproval of those methods (remire) where as Metody and Kostas would have happily done so if they were near Remire at the time. While its true you can argue all you want that we don't know Metody ties to Thales what is known points to him being a direct beneficiary in the slithers and he enjoys similar activities to the agarthians (causing suffering/Chaos). The agathians wanting people to do stuff like the Remire tragedy increases the chances of someone like Metody who is more than ok with burning down villages and banditry (see Cindered Shadows) gets to move up in life from a normal bandit. Kostas and Metody don't have to be agathians directly to be two of the most benefited characters by the agrthian actions even if they did kind of fuck up their chances majorly because of their own incompetence. Again it comes down to clashing goals Edelgard's final goals clearly clashed with the agarthians. Metody and Kostas on the other hand fit right in with their goals of profiting off other people. People like Ladislava, Randolph and Fleshche also don't fit in with the agarthian goals so there is clear distinction between them and Metody so I am not a fan of calling them same title. My answer would be I don't personally think so but tbh I think a more detailed answer would have to be in a dedicated thread for that rather than here where its off topic. But I am also hesitant to to make the reply so because its stuff I really don't care to debate I just know it has stuff I am unwilling to change my mind about so it would be kind of dead to responses which I kind of feel is a bit unfair to other view points. I agree its rather minor but I think the actual debate is slightly more on the lines of representation of the imperial faction as a whole. I can't call Metody any sort of representation of the Imperial faction because first off I see several indications he is new while also feeling he is a better fit in the argarthian lackey camp personality wise given the information we know about him and what I feel the tomb moment represents.
  15. What you are doing is not being an employee you are putting on a scam and your real allegiance is to the group you are robbing it with. Your badge maybe has more stuff backing it up to make it more legitimate than most scammers but doesn't change the fact you are scamming and acting different than an honest bank employee (i.e taking breaks to scout out heist stuff, not properly giving the work attention while you look for security holes, deliberately making costly are messing up other people's efforts so your heist can work ect). How you operate trumps any mask that you wear. In Metodey case he acts like an Agarthan supporter more than so he pretty much is one even if he never formally knows of their existence. It just happens the Agarthans as a whole are using the empire as a whole more than other regions so it gives him the scam credentials of an imperial. Doesn't actually make him one though despite his own thoughts to the contrary. Scam credentials =/= being of a faction.
  16. First off look at who I am quoting with that section it's not you it's DefyingFates and it's specifically with that section I am replying to that I feel that way. Everywhere else not really feeling that way. In regards to the second paragraph you are missing the point I am making and getting to caught up in examples. It's more of you are choosing an argument (battailons) that is severally ignoring other factors imo. As for the spy stuff it's not that he is one it's more so that the notion that his label battle data wise means something in relation to twsid or discounts him from being a recent Thales recruit and is just starting. Also for refrence Cornelia who is inargubly twisd is presented as a Kingdom aligned portrait in CF. Her label is diffrent in AM (Fareghus Dukedom) but considering the kingdom label is also shared with tha player army in AM it makes sense to do so from a gameplay prepective. So again imperial portrait =/= not slither aligned or supported by twisd. Twsid whole thing is to printed to be faction members of various groups. Their is a difference in being imperial and slither aligned imperial. I would prefer not continue with the kind of reductive nonsense that last line implies and could direct us towarda because I feel we both have better uses of our time.
  17. When we have a charcter who we don't have much information about at all in three houses you are going to need to look at other portrayals due to not having a ton of information. Despite us arguing about him he has really short amounts of screen time. I think you are being a bit to dismissive of hopes here personally. Its got its issues sure but I feel like it's at its best when it expands on chacters we had little knowledge of in Houses (Holst, all the dad charcters ect.) I don't see situations like the dads being anything more than simply giving additional context to why things happened the way they did just like what is going on with Metodey. You realize that spies have for centuries put on uniforms of enemy nations to blend in yes? Sometimes for extended periods of time too. Just because you say you are something doesn't mean your loyalty lies elsewhere. Pick any civil war in history and I am sure any soon to defect soilder would have hammed up how loyal they are to their nation to cover up their future plans. There also numerous pirates, bandits and rouges in history who pretend to swear allegiance to someone just to live longer (aka decrease their precived threat level by no longer being bandits technically) and keep on doing their same bandit attitude and actions they just use their postion to cover it up more.
  18. You realize that there is an entire imperial army outside the monestary right? And the much bigger objective was to occupy the entire monestary. It's not exactly speculation to say if she brought more troops to the tomb or even the entire army she does better or out right scares the church out of the monestary and has all the time in the world to do what she wants imside the place. So the most obvious answer is she limted the troops with her and thus made it more likely that the rank and file their die. Some of it maybe for Tactical reasons but still its not the type of mission with high survival odds for people who can't teleport. You realize that putting on a uniform doesn't make you part of faction yes? What I am getting at here is there are people who are given the uniform but serve their interests (Agarthans) and promote people who have similar thinking while themselves putting on performances of being imperial soilders despite having vastly different agendas and command structures (aka they are willing to ignore Edelgards orders in favor of Thales unless they are directly forced). You don't have to be an Agarthan to want to follow their orders if they have been directly and personally supporting you over their boss who you have only started to know and don't mesh as well with personality wise. You realize joint missions are a thing irl right? Just because an American is in charge of an operation doesn't mean that the British soilders taking part in the operation are American armed forces for instance. So not really changing anything on the proof he is imperial to begin with and not just a recent acquisition on Aurindels cronies recommendation. Additionally they aren't going to bother programing in an entierly new battalion on for one throwaway fight so of course it has to come from existing ones. Keep in mind post launch and launch are separate beasts and it is well documented the game needed some more time to fix a lot the big complaints people have.
  19. You are putting way too much stock into someone with an ego thinking they will move up ranks. He doesn't have to be ranked at to feel like he will be fast tracked to a power postion because of how "great" (aka his ego filed impression of his own abilities) he is. I am basically saying any rank above the lowest of the low. The only thing he is shown to be is above the other fodder in the tomb. That's litterally all we can say about his rank with certainty. Which again had more reason to be filled with Thales goons in this scenario than empire loyalists given they ransacked crest stones which is a direct twisd intrest and Edelgard is ok with them being sacrificial fodder. So I think you are way over looking other reasons narrative for him to be in the tomb. Like it being used as tool to show how much twsid has power over the empire. Here is the thing we don't actually have proof either way he was in the imperial military at all in hopes. It is pure speculation either way. All his dialouge is generic bad guy stuff. He never has a line about anything to do with the empire. Also if he did have ties with the empire you would think he would be shown/saved until with Ludwig Von Aegir in the follow up chapter. Where Ludwig was making a more direct leadership challenge to Edelgard. So him being a mercenary for hire and more recent addition before the tomb mission is more than feasible. I will stress again the main plan was always the follow up invasion so the tomb soilders were very expendable.
  20. Looking at the quote I don't see anything that suggests he is actually is someone of note just that he wants to move up the ranks and thinks his actions will land him a big shot position which he clearly finds out he is wrong about in the same battle. Nor anything that excludes him being connected to being a twsid endorsed recruit thinking he will have a fast track. Keep in mind the dude clearly has a high opinion of himself so its not surprising he thinks he will be in a power position soon. Considering Hubert and Edelgard's handling of Count Varley in Scarlet Blaze and Shez to a lesser extent they have shown that they are more than willing to let people think they are more in charge or in their good side than they actually are. This is much more of a Hubert method for sure but it makes a ton of logical sense too. They actually didn't care about Count Varley's survival more than the annoyance finding a replacement would bring. Considering this is continuing the main trait of Hubert in particular showed in three houses to never trust anyone ever outside of Lady Edelgard I think this is highly likely to be a more clear representation of what Houses Metody was to them. Also I think its a bit of an exaggeration to expect Edlegard sent anyone of note of her own forces into the tomb. The Agarthains were more intrested in the crest stones than a random imperial solider would be I think its logical to assume that Thales would want the group in the holy tomb to be full his men. It would also be logical for Edelgard to accept this if she doesn't actually expect them to live its not exactly a huge problem for her if a group she hates dies fighting another group she is declaring war on. Her main plan was always the giant invasion that we play through in the following chapter anyways. I think she always intended the tomb battle to be merely the declaration of war and minor distraction while the big main army got closer. Also narratively speaking I think you are also forgetting that there is a very good case its to actually show that she is forced to work with people she doesn't want to because of how desperate she feels the situation or alternatively that the empire is filled with people under the Agarthians control or at the very least people with a similar power hungry mindset to the Agarthians. Thing is these are not mutually exclusive though you dont have to be part of group to share a same goal in this case chaos. Being an opportunist is exactly what the Agarthans want so they would do their best to get him a higher position so he can accomplish their goals for them. Its in Aurndiel and the other agarthian affiliates in the empires best interest to let Metody do some of their work for them. So even if he never is a formal member he is basically an honory one as their interests are aligned almost exactly.
  21. Given all the supplemental stuff around Metody (his appearance in the ashen wolves dlc and his appearance in Three hopes) he seems more like someone who is forced into his postion and is an outsider than he ever was a imperial soilder. His cindered shadows appearance suggests he is not one to follow orders. His three hopes apperance never has him imperally aligned at all an has his only show up after Thales go yeeted from the empire and he is causing chaos with Twsid backed anarchy in Ordella territory. Even in the holy tomb chapter he is more there for his own fun than he is to follow Edelgard's orders. So even if he is not twisd he was put in that spot at their request imo. Tbf Rhea appears surprisingly little in three hopes despite being the target of a war declaration. She only appears in the opening and in chapters she is directly fought in. then is somehow is basically non-existant. It's actually kind of odd how little she is in three hopes especially golden wilfire. It would require a lot of typing to explain but the short version of it is I think that sometimes catch all apply more to situations than others and this happens to be one of those minority cases imo. Plus I still belive me liking a character doesn't mean they would be a good fit for a given plotline. If we absolutely had to do it I feel it probably would work better with a new charcter entierly. It's not exactly a secret that three houses needed more time in the oven.
  22. Decided to do a last second Yolo 5 orb summon on special heroes banner and got duo thorr. My free summon on the new Halloween banner got me Timera so got two lucky pulls in a row.
  23. Melody is more of a slither dude in imperial army clothing given he never shows up in anything at all CF and SB if we count three hopes he is clearly kicked to the curb but the bigger reason he can't do anything is he straight up dies in the holy tomb battle if fought. Also while I do like her I feel like alot of things they could do with Ladislava would fall flat due to her not being devolped and given how there are much much bigger problems with the game (how similar VW and SS are, CF off screening twsid, backstory for the Agarthans in general, ect.) I don't think it would be worth it over numerous other more pressing issues. I like her but that doesn't mean it this plotline would land with her being given this role. Also it's one of those plotlines that risks making things much worse if done badly imo so I have doubts if it worth trying at all.
  24. I was talking about DefyingFates comment that you responded to and was expanding on it. How the only non-recruitable named charcter who is empire aligned that could feasibly do a plot line like DefyingFates wanted is Ladislva as Deathknight is an ill fit and Randolph and Flesche have other roles in other routes (like there scene with Dimtri in AM). And there are no other named non-slither imperial charcters other than Ladislava to to do the plot line DefyingFates was suggesting Tldr: I was basically agreeing with your previous comment and adding on a note about how their are not a lot of named imperial charcters outside of Edelgard and Hubert. And the ones that do exist don't match defyingfates desired remorse scene. Sorry if it was confusing
  25. Also tbf if you recruit everyone Edelgard's post war squad is pretty much Hubert, Ladislava, Randolph, Death Knight and Flesche on other routes with a ton of nameless mooks. Death Knight, Flesche and Randolph are occupied plot lines so its really only Ladislava who could do anything with the beasts and again I really really like her but she is not devolped so coming from her it would just come off flat.
