  1. Title. Generally assume hardest difficulty, but if you want to go into more detail you can. Reason being I'm trying to beat entire fire emblem games in one day each, but I don't know how practical that is. I generally play strategically (doing drafts and whatnot), but this is more catered towards speed running. It's certainly a different experience, and I want to know if it's practical. I'd also like to stream it because why not, and it'll let me know when I should start streaming. Example: Don't Care Gaiden: 8 Hours Don't Care Holy War: 12 Hours Thracia 776: 16 Hours Sword of Seals: 14 Hours Blazing Sword: 12 Hours Sacred Stones: 10 Hours Path of Radiance: 14 Hours Radiant Dawn: 18 Hours Shadow Dragon: 9 Hours New Mystery: 13 Hours Awakening: 20 Hours Most of those numbers are completely made up. I know that at the end of the game, it'll tell you how long you took, but I've never actually tried doing a straight runthrough, so my numbers are always much larger. I tried Sacred Stones, and although Seth died because I was stupid, it went by relatively quickly.
  2. When I try to randomize something, I keep getting this error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'data\\FE7\\weapons.json' On a mac. I was able to open up the rom no problem. I type in help, and this is all I get: "You can 'open' a ROM, set the 'game' mode, 'close' (save) your ROM, 'reset' data or 'quit' the program." I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but whatever.
  3. I'm positively stumped on Chapter 8. Could somebody PM me how to get past it?
  4. Any chance of a mac version being released? I tried using Wine, but it wouldn't open.
  5. I love FE2. The main issue is it's age. Fire Emblem hadn't really smoothed out it's edges until FE4, if not FE6, which is why those are the far more popular titles. Also, because it was on the NES, the story isn't super involved and it moves rather slowly. I think a remake would be awesome, if they just incorporate some simple ideas like unique bosses and having storyline additions (or at least character development) every chapter. Things I loved about FE2: The Item mechanic. Some of the items were pretty OP, but I really enjoyed the rings and the armors. I thought it was pretty balanced because you couldn't equip a weapon and an armor, but if this was remade, I'd like to see you be able to have both. Villagers. I really liked starting with a team and being able to mold it how you wanted. I've always loved the idea of Trainees, but Amelia sucks and Ewan comes way too late. Getting them first chapter is just awesome. World Map. Sure, skirmishes get out of hand, but I enjoy being able to go back to villages. FE2 didn't really utilize this for anything other than skirmishes and promotion, but I've always liked a map. Bows. At least them being able to shoot from 1 range, but also being pretty inaccurate (but then, so was everything in that game. I think a remake could balance them more but keep the 1 range. I may think of more later. Oh, and I'm still working on that draft off and on. I'm just past the Dragon's Den. When I finish I'll post a review of things that went well and things that needed changing.
  6. I always use them on my dancer. This way you can rescue, move 7, dance, move 7 more, and drop.
  7. I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves FE2 and hates grinding. Alm is one of the best lords in relation to the game.
  8. Well, I'm to Morty now. I'll probably go catch Magnemite and Tauros first though. Already released Suicune and stuff. Time is 2:14. I'm really hoping I can beat the next 3 gyms within 45 minutes, but it's a stretch do to silly stuff like the lighthouse. After Morty I shouldn't have trouble with anything though. Shadowball + Three Punches FTW. I think I'm basically done using Wooper, other than for Surf. Agaisnt Morty I'll be doing some heavy digging with Quilava, and I gave the quick claw to Drowzee, so I can get some good hax there. Yay poison typing on ghosts. Bugsy-Quilava (lvl 19), Wooper (lvl 9) Uh, yeah. OHKO'd stuff. Forgot to check my time Whitney-Quilava (lvl 23), Drowzee (lvl 14), Wooper (lvl 10) I lost this one twice. Drowzee took the Clefairy with a couple Hypnosis and T-Punches, but then misses Miltank all three times (well, I think he actually died to Clefairy the third time, but she had like, 1 hp anyway, so whatever). Quilava then Mudslaps x6, drinks some potions that I got for fweeeee and then proceeds to Ember. Morty-BAMF (lvl 28 Quilava), PWNR (lvl 19 Drowzee), CHICK MAG (lvl 19 Magnemite), RED BULL (lvl 13 Tauros), So as you can probably guess by the levels, screw Wooper and Tauros (who only knows Normal moves). PWNR took the first two, putting them to sleep and then confusioning them for the 2HKO. BAMF got a lucky double dodge on Gengar's hypnosis, and then was able to finish off the last Haunter with ease. I'm really tempted to not even train Tauros at this point, but we'll see how it goes. Magnemite and Drowzee are about to level jump. I'm at 2:41 right now Chuck-BAMF (lvl 30 Quilava), PWNR (lvl 24 Drowzee), CHICK MAG (lvl 23 Magnemite), RED BULL (lvl 16 Tauros), Yeah, so this didn't go as planned. I just got done with a BS Eusine battle in which his Drowzee's hypnosis had 100% accuracy and kept my pokes asleep for 8 turns at a time. It was that bad. So I was pretty ticked off. Then I ran into Chuck, who used a Full Heal when I put Poliwrath to sleep. Didn't see that coming. Then he proceeded to rape my pokes with an 80% accurate Dynamic Punch. Second try I paralyzed him with T-Wave instead, and he didn't use the Full Heal. Then he proceeded to miss every Dynamic Punch until I got him to 1HP, and Tauros got the kill. Cool. Jasmine-Pretty much the same levels. Drowzee took the Magnemites down, as planned, and then Quilava killed Steelix. I'm at 3:32. Not as good as I was hoping for, after seeing Lowen's score (seriously, that's utterly ridiculous. And plus, it shouldn't have taken 3x as long to find Heracross to beat the game. That's just messed up). Also, ran into an Entei. Threw a Lure Ball because I didn't really have anything else. It ran. Also ran into a Yanma. Not as rare, but I was pretty surprised. I'm just hoping for Pokerus or a shiny. Now I'm at Pryce, at 4:18. Stupid forced sidequests. Hoping to finish at ~6:00
  9. Beat Faulkner. Level 13 Cyndaquil 0:32. Basically, I skipped Bellsprout Tower. Then Embered until they died. I'll have more of an update tomorrow, when I really start. Right now I'm kinda just chilling because my roommate hasn't come back yet, and I know I'll wake up when he arrives.
  10. Movesets will look something like this: Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion Ember→Flame Wheel→Fire Blast Mud Slap→Dig Quick Attack Cut→Thunder Punch Cyndaquil's main advantage over Totodile is rarer typing. Waters are super common (plus free Suicune), and having a Fire for Jasmine and Pryce will be helpful. Wooper/Quagsire Water Gun→Surf (HM) Slam→Strength (HM) Earthquake Sludge Bomb Looking back, I'm really not sure why I took him so early. Mostly for the Surf, and for a bit of early game help. Probably should have taken Magikarp though, in hindsight, but that would have taken too much grinding. Drowzee/Hypno Confusion→Psychic Ice Punch Fire Punch /Thunder Punch Shadow Ball All three punches plus Psychic/Shadowball goodness? He comes early game, and pretty much owns every single type. No, he does own every single type (except Normal). His only problem is his speed, really. He'll be super overleveled though, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem until late game, and he has really good special durability, which is important for the E4. I'm super excited about Hypno, and I've never used him before. Magnemite/Magneton Thunder Shock→Thunder Bolt (Tutor) Thunder Wave Tri Attack Flash (HM) So, this is pretty much just for the steel typing and STAB T-Bolt. Thunder Wave will come in handy, and I might get lucky with some freeze/burn hax? He's a pretty good poke though, I've used him plenty, and he's always been really helpful, especially for all those times surfing and running into dumb water types over and over and over. Should be one of my higher leveled units. Tauros Headbutt →Thrash Earthquake Rest Sleep Talk Definitely not as good as I originally though, but Tauros is a beast once he gets going. He's pretty durable, and will kill pretty much everything between EQ/Thrash. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a lot of SE potential, but still a solid unit. Jynx Lovely Kiss Ice Punch Nightmare Perish Song So I definitely thought she learned Psychic through level up. Oh well, she was mainly for her Ice powers anyway. Lovely Kiss is amazing, and Ice Punch will take down Claire/Lance. Perish Song will be a nice trick as wel;. Suicune Surf (HM) Ice Beam (Tutor) Waterfall (HM) Toxic I don't think I really need to say anything about Suicune. Surf and Ice Beam are really the only moves it needs, and it should be a really good poke. ------------------------------------- Suicune will probably be replacing Quagsire in the E4. Gym Strategies: Faulkner really shouldn't be hard. I'll probably have a Quilava (hoping for lvl 15) at that point, and that's enough to kill. Bugsy will be super easy. Team should be Wooper (lvl 12) and Quilava (lvl 18). Whitney will be the most challenging. This will be where most of my time is wasted, grinding the game shop to get necessary coins (savestates and guessing game FTW...if that's okay...otherwise I'll just have to wait until I have an insane amount of cash). I'm guessing my team will be Drowzee (lvl 18), Quagsire (lvl 22) and Quilava (lvl 23) Morty will be...tricky. Hypno will have to outspeed Gengar, or else hax a miss off Hypnosis, and that won't be easy. I'll probably be something like Hypno (lvl 28), Quagsire (lvl 24), and Quilava (lvl 25) Chuck will be simple. Hypno kills Primeape, Magnemite kills Poliwrath. Quilava (lvl 26), Quagsire (lvl 26), Hypno (lvl 30), Tauros (22), Magnemite (28) Jasmine shouldn't be too bad, and I'll be going for a Quilava sweep. I'll probably teach Hypno Fire Punch for this one. I'm really glad I picked him, looking at this midgame. Quilava (lvl 30), Quagsire (lvl 26), Hypno (32), Tauros (23), Magneton (30) Pryce will be simple. Magneton/Hypno will take Seel/Dewgong, and then Typhlosion can take Piloswine. Typhlosion (38), Hypno (35), Quagsire (28), Tauros (25), Magneton (33) Claire will be the first challenge since Morty. Thankfully I'll have Jynx and Suicune by then, both of whom will be able to quickly dispatch the Dragonairs. Then Hypno/Magneton for the Kingdra kill. Typhlosion (40), Hypno (40), Suicune (41), Tauros (30), Magneton (35), Jynx (35). Elite FIVE: Will has enough dual types that he shouldn't be hard. Xatus and Slowbro are downed by Magneton and Hypno, Exaggutor and Xatus die to Jynx, Jynx dies to Typhlosion. Hypno can really take them all with Shadow Ball Koga will pretty much by Typhlosion and Hypno. He's never given me problems, I'll just have to have poison heals. Bruno will be, once again, Hypno. I'm really shocked that he was taken last looking at his movepool. Suicune will likely help on this one for Onyx. Karen will be a challenge. Typhlosion for Vileplume, Suicune for Houndoom, Jynx for Murkrow, and Hypno for Gengar and Umbreon. Unlikely Hypno will live, but I'll take them down eventually. Lance, as always, is tough. Magneton will OHKO Gyarados, and will do some serious damage to the Dragonites. Jynx, Hypno, and Suicune will clean up the Dragonites and the Charizard. Aerodactyl will fall eventually. I'm guessing most pokes will be 45-50, while Hypno will be more like 55. Final Rival: Hypno takes Gengar, Alakazam, and Sneasal. Magneton takes Feraligatr. Typhlosion kills Magneton. Ice takes Crobat. ------------------------------------------------------------- So Tauros hardly does anything in my plans, but I'm guessing he'll be a good utility poke when somebody faints earlier than expected. My levels seem a bit high, but we'll see how it goes. Hypno for MVP.
  11. get in irc #sfdrafts to do the pokemon crystal draft. Please.

  12. Wait, for a multiple of 3? Does that mean I can sign up if two other people do? Because I'm definitely in if that's the case. What do you mean by play for the lowest time?
  13. Sounds like they got you bad, bro. You can't even speak straight. I suggest you grow a beard, eat some bacon, and blow some stuff up. Generally works for me.
