  1. I think the fact that the Monado is present at all would imply that Alvis is definitely present somewhere within the world. If you can find him, I believe that there's a high probability of victory assuming he can be recruited.
  2. my headcanon is that you're wrong I think I kinda feel this, too, especially when headcanons I read about actively go against established canon or rules. I don't mind the stuff that's actually plausible, or the stuff I can easily dismiss, but the incorrect stuff that's so widespread to the point that it's treated as fact is what bothers me (basically popular headcanon that's actually just misinformation). If I understand what you're saying correctly, I do believe I'm in the same boat. I saw a post on Twitter the other day explaining how a common theme among Final Fantasy games is defying fate (the exception being XV if you don't count alternate endings). Remake does exactly this, but in regards to defying the story of the original game (in a very obvious manner). we'll still be here from the grave
  3. If Young Link were to theoretically return, he should absolutely be updated to his Majora's Mask design... which isn't any different from Ocarina of Time, but he'd have the Hero's Shield and new Kokiri Sword, and so his new final smash would (hopefully) be Fierce Deity as a transformation smash. However, since they've gone the route of more cinematic final smashes, I imagine it'd be some kind of transformation rush instead, with Link attacking as a Deku, Goron, Zora, and then Fierce Deity (so basically a fancier Triforce Slash). I think the only other characters that I have a venerated interest in seeing a new final smash would be the Belmonts (assuming they come back). Grand Cross as it is now is fine enough, but to move it away from a cinematic smash, I'd love to see them do Grand Cross how Julius does it in Aria of Sorrow, which would make the whole stage shake and draw in enemies while the Belmont is stationary (kind of like a cross between PK Starstorm and Zero Laser, but aimed upwards).
  4. Hell yeah, I love this question. I don't really have a huge list of favorites, and I'm sure I could certainly add to that list, but to keep it simple, Lapras and Espeon are my top two, and I'd say Primarina is my favorite starter (I absolutely love its cry).
  5. I'm not sure what's more frightening; the fact that this exists, or the fact that there's a legitimate chance for him to show up in Heroes. Cipher died too soon, man.
  6. Any fix or maintenance, big or small, is a good fix imo, so thank you for what you do If it's anything like I think it is, it's just a way to seek attention. Unfortunately for a forum site like this, we kinda have to give it attention to get it cleaned up, which just sucks.
  7. Yeah, I remember from around the time of the rebrand, stuff like AM2R and Pokémon Uranium were DMCA'd by Nintendo, so I think the Oddity team decided to change everything related to Earthbound/Mother to avoid a takedown from Nintendo as a preventative measure. I honestly like the rebranded name Oddity better than Mother 4; I think it actually kind of keeps it in the spirit of Earthbound being the localized title for Mother 2, if that makes any sense. It's just a cool name for a standalone game. Assuming it's a real game that will eventually come out one day, it also means that it has a legitimate shot at being on the Switch (or whatever Nintendo's next console is).
  8. I think Anna would be a great character to have come back in some form. Maybe as a secret merchant or something if she isn't a playable unit. Valbar, Kamui, and Leon would be funny. There was that April Fool's joke with them being featured in a title called Fire Emblem: Battle of Revolution. If that game ever seriously happens, then they're basically a shoo-in. Ike (and potentially Soren/Ranulf, too) also always has a chance to show up again in some capacity (that isn't amiibo or emblem locked) given his ending in Radiant Dawn. It may not have happened (yet), and the closest we've gotten to something like that is Priam, but it'd be cool for him to show up again in the flesh even if just as a cameo.
  9. No, you're right, I think Mother 3 was more or less always meant to be the last one. There's actually 2 different Mother 4's, both of which are fan projects. The first one has been rebranded as Oddity, and it's arguable if it's actually ever coming out. They did release an absolutely killer soundtrack for it, though. If you ever get a chance, definitely listen to it because it's phenomenal (and the only real thing for the game that's been officially released, lol). The second one I know less about, but it may actually (hopefully) have a decent shot in releasing in a playable format. There's a trailer for it here. At the end of the day, though, they're more just concepts than anything else.
  10. I don't usually comment on these, but Ascended Heroes are alive. I have waited long for this moment. Also that Seal skill negating penalty negation is stupid. I knew powercreep was getting seriously bad when they introduced Z calculations with Framme, but come onnnnnn
  11. I don't know where to begin with how much I adore this series. I'm not as much of a die-hard as I could be, but Mother 3 is easily my favorite game of all time, and one of the extremely few games that's made me shed a tear. A friend of mine back in middle school had introduced me to the series and Team Fortress 2, and it's almost surreal how well they all stand against the test of time (except for maybe Earthbound Zero/Beginnings, but I haven't played it in forever, so that's an iffy maybe). I also remember the Pollyanna tribute animation that came out all that time ago, and it was so well done that my middle school brain loved everything about it. One of my teachers had a "Fun Video Friday" every week, and she took suggestions from the students. I was very adamant about sharing that tribute video to the point that I suggested it every week, but she was pretty hesitant about it. She did eventually show it, and she only played it up until the Kraken showed up if I remember right, but I was happy that I was able to share it at all with other kids my age. It was also super exciting when Chuggaconroy announced that he was remaking his Earthbound Let's Play, which was a few years ago now. Being able to go through that game again with his commentary and video quality was such a treat, and learning all the new things about the game that I had never known before was awesome (which I think he made a point about there always seemingly being something new to find every time you play the game again). Of course, it was an absolute shame as a long-time viewer to see him go out the way he did; there were some moments during his Black 2/White 2 Let's Play that stood out as pretty sus, but I gave it a tentative pass thinking that's just him being who he is. After everything that came out about him, it all makes sense in hindsight now. At the very least, one thing I'm still very much still looking forward to is the Mother 4 fan project. Can't wait for Winter 2014!
  12. It is indeed the Maiden. I may just leave it like that if you can't see it, lol. Oh no. I think I would actually like to do that, thanks for the idea! It might not be a bad idea to see what other useless trivia I can look into for Emblems. Amiibo units can't reclass at all, funnily enough. I think I mentioned that, but the wording was probably a little funny. So Marth, for instance, can only be in the Lodestar class.
  13. I promise this is an interesting question. Fire Emblem Fates came out during the amiibo fad Nintendo had going on after the release of Smash 4. As such, Fates was one of the games that had the (mis)fortune of added amiibo functionality, and if you scanned the amiibo released for the Fire Emblem characters featured in Smash 4, you could recruit Marth, Ike, Robin, and Lucina into your army in Fates as actual units. Marth and Ike are just kinda there, but Robin and Lucina actually provide an interesting case to look into, especially Lucina. And so I ask... who is the mother of amiibo Lucina? The way I usually go about this kind of thing is to calculate growth rates and go from there, but with Awakening, there are modifiers, skills, and reclass inheritance to consider, too. Thankfully for me, amiibo are preconfigured plastic collectibles, so reclassing and skill inheritance aren't a worry this time around, so growths and mods are what we'll be using. Also, just to get the obvious out of the way, amiibo Robin is either +Mag/-HP based on his modifiers, or +Res/-Spd based on his growths. For comparison: If anything, based on his gameplay in Smash, he'd probably be +Mag/-Spd. ~ ~ ~ Moving on to Lucina, she's a little easier to figure out since the math for her is more set in stone, which is to say I haven't included Robin as a potential mother for the sake of my own sanity. I've taken some liberties in trying to ascertain the answers I seek; I've subtracted the +1 Modifier Bonus every Awakening child unit gets to balance out the numbers a little bit, and I've also subtracted any class growths that would be included in the totals. I've also miraculously discovered spreadsheets, so it's all in a nice, convenient format for your perusal. I've color coded the entries based on how they match to amiibo Lucina's base growths and mods. Based on the data and my own "humble" and "objectively correct" opinion, the closest answer to who amiibo Lucina's mother would be is Olivia, confirming Chrom's true pairing as it was always meant to be. ...but deep in our hearts, we know who the true answer was all along... Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed my incoherent rambling once more. Thank you. ~ ~ ~ Just some post-post thoughts... speaking of the maiden, I noticed in a couple places that Maiden!Lucina's growths are just a bunch of question marks? So have her growth rates seriously never been figured out after all this time? Or is the information outdated everywhere and no one's updated it? I mean... I'd assume since the maiden really has no bearing on Lucina as a unit (Lucina get's Chrom's mods with +1 to each stat, the typical bonus), she wouldn't factor into the growth formula; it'd just be (Chrom's Growths + Lucina's Base Growths)/2 + Class Growths just for that specific situation. I know I've got to be wrong on this, but I would love to figure it out.
