  1. There are definitely worse fathers in the game (Count Varley, Gilbert, Margrave Edmund, Margrave Gautier), considering Rodrigue seems like he made some what of an effort to raise Felix (I mean he didn't have financial troubles from the looks of it, went to school, still tries to interact with him, etc.) they just have a clash in ideologies. Obviously Rodrigue isn't perfect with how he handles knighthood and Glenn's death which made an impact on Felix. Rodrigue also makes some sort of effort to reconcile with Felix at least (as opposed to like Gilbert running around and hiding from Annette until she forces him to talk), even if his methods aren't the best. He's insensitive, but far from like the worst father in the series. Anyways RE:Randolph, it's interesting how he gets portrayed quite differently in AM (as opposed to CF) as a coward more or less (even bringing up the "I have a family" excuse when Dimitri was talking about torturing him, ignoring the soldier casualties on the opposing side that have families that he may or may not have slain).
  2. Seeing people but their reasons makes me wanna do it to uwu FE4 - 7 Great story, pretty decent cast overall. Gameplay isn't necessarily bad, it's just extremely tedious (especially in the gen 1 maps) due to bad terrain and such, there's definitely an emphasis on mounted emblem being the best way to play the game (which imo, is a bad thing because it doesn't encourage diversity) due to how obnoxiously large each map is. I like the concept of each chapter having the player seize various castles/points and having different groups of spread out (think chapter 7), final map is also quite fun. FE5 - 9 One of my favorite games, I like that it is possible to make any unit work due to scrolls being very useful and there isn't too much of an emphasis on mounted emblem due to the variety of map design with indoor/outdoor (and a mixture of them) maps. I like the inclusion of defend and escape maps and, the escape manster arc is probably one of my favorite story inclusions in all of FE. Cast is pretty weak personality wise outside the main characters and bigger minor characters (Linoan, Asvel, Sara, etc.) weakest aspect gameplay wise imo is how incredibly easy it is to warp skip the late game maps (which are all pretty hard, especially chapter 22) due to the random influx of warp staves (which are staves that players should use sparingly). Overall, very solid game. FE6 - 6 Not bad, I just find it very boring. Story is pretty good, has a lot of obnoxiously frustrating maps, with Sacae being kinda cancer with all the dodgy units (also Chapter 20x Sacae/B is probably the worst map in the game). Cast is also very boring despite the inclusion of support conversations. I like the difficulty of the game but, it's still pretty boring. FE7 - 6 Prefer the story of FE7 over FE6 but, it's still ok. Gameplay is aight and the cast is pretty strong overall except for like how they shoehorned Lyn into the game since she doesn't contribute much outside her story arc (which is still very random). FE8 - 8 Pretty basic overall. Nothing really wrong with the game honestly, the cast is solid, the gameplay/map design is pretty good, it's just really undertuned in terms of difficulty. Story to me is kind of generic but, it still works. FE9 - 8 One of my more favorite stories despite it being sorta cliche in a way. Tellius has a pretty strong cast overall and the gameplay is the weakest aspect of the game imo due to the emphasis on mounted emblem and the map design supports this in every way. Weak map design overall just because you can send a boosted unit (Jill, Marcia, Titania usually) and they'll just solo a pack of enemies during enemy phase which isn't a good thing imo. BEXP is a great mechanic since there's an incentive on playing fast and allows you to catch up units falling behind if necessary. Replayability isn't that good because there's only a handful of units that are really good, but the game is easy enough where you can use pretty much everyone. FE10 - 10 My favorite FE game to date. One of my favorite mechanics is the divided army (and stories) just because I enjoy using a wide variety of units, and this divided army concept allows me to do so which is nice. I like that you can face off old allies which gives a bittersweet feeling to the game. Map design is also pretty weak (same problems as PoR as you can send in someone to solo a pack of enemies) but, I like the variety of maps that doesn't emphasize mounted emblem. Another weak aspect is that the game guts some unit's availability (Tormod, Geoffrey, Elincia, Pelleas, Muarim, Vika, etc.) for whatever reason which I don't like. But I still really enjoy the game and I can generally play it without complaining about the weaker aspects of the game. FE11 - 5.5 Same reasons as FE6, I like the difficulty but the game is just so boring. Like FE9 in a way, there's only a handful of units that are worth using, only difference is that FE11 is a lot harder than FE9 which gives you little reason to use anyone besides like Caeda, Lena, Abel (idt Cain is worth using outside drafts imo), Wolf/Sedgar, Jagen, Wendell, Barst, etc. Cast is incredibly boring since the game focuses on Marth, Caeda and Jagen and the majority of the characters just lack substance. Pretty traditional FE game overall, and I do think it's a better model for future FEs but, doesn't change that this game is boring to me (also the graphics are really ugly too). FE12 - 7 Story is 10x worse than FE11's just because they basically took FE3 Book 2 and replaced some of the words that say "Marth/Jagen" with "Kris" (or w/e you named your avatar) and basically shoehorned an unneeded avatar into the game. I prefer the gameplay a lot because of the map variety and that there's a lot of units that are worth using (and I like that you get quite a lot of really amazing units early on). Solid game gameplay wise, but the story is just very bad. Cast also got more fleshed out but, the supports are still really generic and bland. FE13 - 4 Hot mess of broken things in the game (Galeforce, unlimited Rescues, spotpass, Nosferatu, Rally skills). Gameplay is very frustrating, especially on Lunatic early on. Lunatic+ is just a wtf game mode that feels like they took an easy route on making the game harder (like did anyone test Lunatic+ out before releasing it? It's just obnoxiously difficult for no reason). Cast is pretty boring or bad but, has some pretty great characters overall. Not really sure about the whole waifu marriage thing but, child customization is kinda fun tbh. Birthright - 1 No... I get it's supposed to be easy but like... it's just waaaaaay too easy with the lack of enemy skills (outside boss units), decreased overall stats (especially Speed since Nohr classes tend to have less speed but more bulk), and also the added addition of grinding. Story is better because it makes sense that Corrin goes against Nohr, which is much better than CQ/Revs but it's still not good. Also don't really need to speak about Corrin because... that's someone elses post. Conquest - 6 Story is really bad because Corrin joining Nohr and invading Hoshido for a chair (well throne) makes no sense. Gameplay however, there's some really well designed maps in Conquest (specifcally Chapter 9, 10, 12, and 16) among other terrible maps (Chapter 11, 17, 20). Lunatic Conquest is fun, as the added enemy skills (and weapon variety) forces you to be creative with strategies. Cast is better than BR but still weak in comparison to other casts in the series. Revelations - 4 Story is also incredibly bad, since the first half is a scavenger hunt for the royals (and other playable units in BR/CQ) and the 2nd half is incredibly rushed (and randomly drawn out in terms of the interactions with Arete). Favorite part is child customization, considering you have access to both BR/CQ units and armories available. Every map has a gimmick which is very annoying to deal with (and very unnecessary imo). FE15 - 6.5 Kind of a forgettable game imo but, I quite like the cast and the voice acting of the game is exquisite. Map design is terrible honestly with how bare and open almost every single map is on Alm's side, and how obnoxious the terrain is on Celica's side (boat maps, deserts, swamps). However, post game Thabes is pretty fun overall and Grima being there was a surprise at least. FE16 - 7 Favorite cast to date, I like how most of the characters feel unique (against other characters within the game, not the series) and yet they are fleshed out pretty well fore the most part. Gameplay is incredibly repetitive (BEs play the same part 1 for both CF/SS in terms of dialogue/events (all routes have the same gameplay), AM/SS/VW play a very similar part 2, except AM branches off at some point and SS doesn't have Gronder). Monastery is fun in the first play through in part 1, then gets tedious and doesn't make sense in part 2. Overall, pretty fun but gets really old really quick.
  3. Ranking the ones I've actually played FE4 - 7 FE5 - 9 FE6 - 6 FE7 - 6 FE8 - 7.5 FE9 - 8 FE10 - 10 FE11 - 5.5 FE12 - 7 FE13 - 4 Birthright - 1 Conquest - 6 Revelations - 4 FE15 - 6.5 FE16 - 7
  4. Yeah avoiding the c+ support and coronation is the same thing as doing nothing. Again, if you do literally nothing, the game will push you into Silver Snow no matter what. Just because the flags are easy to pin down, doesn't mean it's the default route since you still have to actively do something to get CF route. Natural progression doesn't mean anything because it's subjective, not everyone is going to play the game the same way like you do. Also just because you managed to get CF route, doesn't mean every single person out there was able to.
  5. you literally said essentially saying because I see Dimitri as a tyrant/psycho/yandere, that must mean people who like Dimitri like him because he's a tyrant/psycho/yandere despite there being a multitude of reasons as to why a person can like Dimitri ____________ Yeah I think there's a possibility Edelgard/Dimitri could drop if people have the "they are #1 right now so I can vote for other characters because they'll win anyways" mindset, which could change things up. Which is why I don't really like interim results because people either feel demotivated if their faves aren't in the top 10 (or maybe top 5) and I quite like the mystery of not knowing. Either way it's safe to say 3H is dominating CYL. Even though I'm neutral about Marth, he got done dirty in CYL1/2 because of the FE11/12 split, and then I found Eliwood winning CYL3 kind of random. Either way, maybe it'd be Marth's time in CYL5 unless the Abyss units make a significant impact and/or a new FE title shows up.
  6. or it's because people don't see Dimitri as a tyrant/psycho/yandere and that's why they like him (whatever reason it may be). I mean you don't have to like Dimitri and no one is forcing you to but, you don't have to generalize and make up assumptions as to why people may or may not like Dimitri because they don't view the character the same way you do. Anyways, if the top 4 is secured (I think Lysithea or Bernie could easily take #2, considering last CYL Eliwood ended up beating Marth in the end). I would like to see the characters flip flop (Axe Dimitri, Lance Edlegard, but still very kingdom/empire-esque for example). The war arc 3h lords (same with the other students) will probably be pull-able units at some point, so it'd be lazy and kinda dumb to have them be brave alts.
  7. so in other words... the game defaults you to silver snow? Silver Snow is the default option because you don't have to do anything to get it, as opposed to Crimson Flower where you do have to do stuff (Edelgard C+ Support, visit the coronation, and choose to spare Edelgard). Yeah it's easy to unlock CF route as long as you have the information but, still doesn't change the fact you don't have to do anything to get to SS route and the game pushes you into it if you miss one of the flags.
  8. I think the whole Edelgard vs. Dimitri rivalry is gets over exaggerated honestly, I see more Edelgard vs. Rhea post almost daily if anything but I think more people now just like both characters or can at least appreciate them. Polls are also kinda eh when it comes to results, just because so many of them come out at once and they aim at different demographics (Famitsu polls are aimed at Japan). CYL is the most reliable poll (still not perfect imo because of the 7 votes and how you can potential make multiple accounts, and also how winners of CYL aren't included in the next CYL) just because it targets audiences from both the east and the west and puts them against other popular characters from other games to give a better picture on character popularity. Interim results can also change pretty drastically, like how Marth was #2 in CYL3 but gets beaten by Eliwood in the end. It's also relatively early for Interim Results just because we had like 2.5 days worth of results for it to be considered interim. Also helps that Edelgard is a lord in Fire Emblem's most successful game and is also a waifu (before someone @'s me on waifuism not existing, if it truly didn't exist we would've had better female representation in Fire Emblem games by now and not have young/busty/skinny/thicc females for western appeal, and young-looking/short/cute/innocent females for eastern appeal. IS is aware that people like waifus so female characters are almost always designed in a similar way, which is smart of them).
  9. Anyways, apologies for derailing the thread, did not want to make another Rhea bad / Edelgard good side story like what some people have done previously. RE:Lonato, yeah I agree that this was something the game should've expanded upon. The Western Church is similar to how I feel about TWISTD as in they aren't the most well-written or fleshed out villains. Game tends to put the blame on the western church but, we never really get to see the side of the western church and why they are so against Rhea/Central church (I think it had something to do with the power dynamic of the 3 churches but Idr that much). Also I never thought about how they completely dropped Ashe's reasons for joining the Empire, as CF route never brings up Lonato again (except through Ashe's supports if you viewed them late ig) which is a bit of a bummer honestly since his motivation was never explored. Interestingly enough, he ends up finding out more on Lonato's motivations through Catherine who isn't available in CF. I also wished that the dark side of the Church was more fleshed out (maybe that'll happen in the Abyss patch since a group of people living under the monastery intrigues me as to why that even happened in the first place). SS Route imo shouldn't really have brought up the Kingdom or Alliance (which is why I find Alliel chapter very out of place) since they get mentioned once and it's done and just focused that screentime on the church or BE students. Considering BE house has a split path, also would've wanted to see more of Rhea in Part 1 (on a personal interaction level like outside of her giving missions, since there aren't too many of those)? If people will be forced to choose a side, I feel that I would've wanted to see both sides fleshed out more since personally, Edelgard's motivations are fleshed out (at a surface level scale to give the player a push to pick a side) in part 1 while Rhea's motivations requires more digging in part 1. Though I can't really picture a back and forth (akin to Dimitri and Edelgard's back and forth in AM route) with Rhea and Edelgard but it would be interesting to see their ideologies clashing.
  10. She admits to deceiving her followers and abusing her powers in her S-support but, Rhea literally does not mention anything about manipulating Wilhelm's army or the people of Enbarr at the time, you're just using her quote as some sort of correlation factor, referencing the quote below. "But the fact that she had to bestow Crests, she had to make an excuse to why they would be opposing Nemesis, who also bears a Crest, along with the Relics as well. So she simply says that they were once champions of the Goddess, but were corrupted by the Relics. It's a great way of turning a fight of personal vendetta into some righteous war." You're making it sound like she was some sort of mastermind who knew what she was doing the moment she set into Enbarr before the establishment of the religion, and that she was going to coerce and force the people of Enbarr to follow a religion that has not been established yet. We don't know why people I decided to fight for her (there's more than 1 reason other than they were followers) and she never mentions using her made up story on crests as a way to get people to fight for her. If anything it looks more like a cover up story after the war, than propaganda to get people to fight for her. There's very little information on the time period starting when Seiros enters Enbarr, to the time she met Wilhelm, so it's weird how you're pulling all sorts of conclusions on a time period that the game barely talks about. "Never said that Rhea didn't have a personal vendetta and wanted revenge against Nemesis, that was something I never brought up in any of my posts." Idk what kinda strawman argument you are trying to pull with this since, again, it is something I did not bring up in any of my posts and have acknowledged that Rhea's involvement in the War of Heroes was a personal reason. There's limited information on Nemesis other than he was a bandit that lead the Red Canyon Massacre with the push of TWISTD and helped create the relics, and became a king. There's not much to go off why Nemesis chose not to conquer Fodlan despite his power to make any concrete conclusion. Spiceman said it better than what I could've said. But I'm going to add that we don't know anything about that time period or how Rhea acted, we don't know whether she called herself a saint, whether she forced people into calling her a saint, and how Rhea looked like (if she looked like a haggard woman I'm sure people would've had a different reaction, as opposed if present-day Rhea showed up in Enbarr) all we know is that she created some sort of miracle and met Wilhelm (who was able to save Rhea, which implies that she may have been in a predicament at the time) Again not sure why you're trying to strawman here. I said that the Seiros religion was started up by the public that were impacted in some way by the miracles Seiros performed and hailed her as a saint, I never denied Rhea's involvement in fostering the religion to the point it is in during the game. Never even said that the citizens of Enbarr were the ones that created the preachings of the goddess and stories on crests and Nemesis, all I said was... "Or you know, it was the public that was the one to name to religion itself since they were the true founders" Naming and starting up =/= creating the preachings are 2 different things. My argument is that based on the Book of Seiros quote from the library collection, people wanted some form of religion since they saw Seiros performing miracles which gave them some sense of hope during Nemesis's reign. Again, the game barely delves into the beginnings and creation of the Seiros religion to make any concrete conclusion that the sole purpose of Rhea entering Enbarr was to brainwash the citizens with religion. Believe it or not, people can interpret the game in more than one way. Just because I didn't necessarily use the game the same way you did (even though I did cite the game, whether you want to believe it or not) doesn't make my or your usage of the game more or less irrelevant (or nonexistent like you're trying to put it). It's interesting how you accused me of using a fan theory with Seteth and book burning, yet you literally admitted to using headcanon to bolster your arguments ("All you are doing is claiming that there's no proof, despite how I did prove it through quotes, and making what amounts to headcanons of what might be the case."). Seteth joins the monastery a few years before Byleth joins doesn't have anything to do with this, considering we know he was involved in the War of Heroes and had a connection to Rhea prior. I mean the knowledge on the "past thousand years" (which is limited to Rhea and the library collection, and in some cases Edelgard) is rather limited to pull such a concrete conclusion like this.
  11. No reason to get so upset, we're just talking lol. Anyways Game never even mentions this lol, it is a possible outcome but the game never brings up anything about Rhea manipulating what crests are as an excuse to brainwash Wilhelm's army. Or you know, it was the public that was the one to name to religion itself since they were the true founders. Never said that Rhea didn't have a personal vendetta and wanted revenge against Nemesis, that was something I never brought up in any of my posts. The game literally tells you 0 on Rhea using miracles as a way to coerce people into creating the Seiros religion and to fight for her, that's entirely headcanon. Besides you make it seem like Nemesis was just some random dude minding his own business and Rhea wanted to kill him for no reason. We don't know much about what happened back then other than the library book that says "Under the tyranny of ruthless disorder, the people endured a long period of suffering. The vile Nemesis, who proclaimed himself the King of Liberation, delighted in war and bloodshed. Rather than rebelling against his persecution, the people of Fรณdlan fell to his depths in a mad scramble to attain power through murder and theft." So it is possible that the public were unhappy with Nemesis being a pseudo ruler at the time Even then, all we know about what went down is... "Saint Seiros appeared in the land of Enbarr and, through the many unfathomable miracles she performed, spread light across the land. In doing so, she joined the shattered hearts of the purest people of Fรณdlan, who went on to form the Holy Church of Seiros." She performed miracles, people liked it and started a religion for her. That's it. Didn't catch that in the quote vs. Edelgard, but I mean it could've been a 2 way support system between the 2 which isn't too out of the ordinary. We don't know much about Wilhelm since he could've had his own reasons to take down Nemesis since the library collection explain why Wilhelm wanted to reunify Fodlan. Ok you're using evidence to support your headcanons. Just because it's a possibility doesn't mean it was what actually went down because the game never mentions any of that. I'm more or less discouraging the use of headcannons as part of an argument, since to me it looks like you're trying to make your headcanons fact because there's supporting evidence. I mean going back to the Seteth and censorship, he burns books to protect Flayn and Rhea is supported by the game with how he interacts with Flayn and Rhea but, we don't know it's true because it doesn't explicitly say so.
  12. Library books don't mention anything about the Saints giving their crests to Wilhelm's army to manipulate them to fighting for Rhea. It only mentions how crests were bestowed to the 10 elites/heroes and that their descendants seeked that power. So the part "She made up the lie that Nemesis and his followers were blessed by the goddess, just so that when Rhea and the other Saints bestowed Crests onto people, they can justify why other people have Crests that they would inevitably face. She would manipulate the people into believing that they were facing a righteous war." doesn't hold true Joining =/= fingding, they are 2 different things. Rhea fostered the religion but never actually started it We don't know the reason behind why Rhea performed the miracles she did, as we only know that she did perform some sort of miracle that had an impact on the people of Enbarr at the time. To say that the only reason Rhea performed her miracles was to manipulate the people is something we don't know to be true. Rhea can be crazy and manipulative but, we know there are times when she actually shows compassion. Rhea mentions she manipulated the history of crests and Nemesis but that's all we really know on the chunks of history she manipulated. Seteth destroys books that depict anything about the Saints, probably to protect the true identities of Flayn and Rhea as seen with the interaction with Claude finding a book that had a picture of the Immaculate One. Part about Sothis makes sense, forgot about that connection We don't know whether or not Wilhelm was a follower of Rhea because the game never specified this to be the case, and it never mentions that Rhea was the one that influenced Wilhelm into fighting the war for her. For all we know, he could've made certain decisions himself or maybe he had something against Nemesis.
  13. Rhea did lie about Nemesis and crests but, the game never specifies when she told the lie. The library collections mentions Nemesis and how he was supposedly blessed by the goddess but, we don't know when or who wrote the text (even then it isn't reliable since we know the history of crests and Nemesis was made up). Outside of that, the game never mentions that Rhea/Saints made up the lie back in the day to justify the use of crests for the fight against Nemesis. Again, from what we know, Rhea did not create the Seiros religion. The religion was created by the public, and considering that Seiros has a large following and that the reason why Enbarr became the capital was because it was the first city that Seiros graced, it isn't too far off to believe it was created by the public. There's no reason for Rhea to fabricate pretend miracles because we know she has power, considering she was able to save Catherine and Jeralt during their near-death experiences. Seiros religion isn't really fake considering it was created by the public and that Seiros and Sothis are real and did perform the miracles that they did. Seiros Religion is more of a shady religion considering the rewriting of what a crest is and that the people are unaware the goddess they worship is actually right there (though it's clear when Rhea says goddess she meant Sothis, and when the followers say goddess they believe it's Seiros). Also you said Wilhelm made the first move, and then went on to say Rhea started the war. We also don't really know why the war lasted 66 years since the game only tells you a few of the battles (or it could have been just Gronder and Tailtean we don't know), so blaming it exclusively on Rhea potentially extending the war is odd since there could've been other factors that could've been the reason why the war lasted 66 years.
  14. Do you even have evidence that the only reason Rhea started the religion is because she wanted kill Nemesis? I mean whether you want to believe it or not the library mentions that the citizens of Enbarr created the religion after Seiros was seen performing miracles at Enbarr, which doesn't seem too far off from considering we know why Enbarr became the capital of the Empire in the first place (confirmed by Edelgard). It also mentions that Seiros fought alongside Wilhelm, which meant that it was a combined effort, and not just Seiros forcing Wilhelm to fight for her. Wilhelm wanted to unify Fodlan, and Rhea wanted to beat Nemesis. Rhea wouldn't have been able to combat Nemesis without the help of Wilhelm since he had an actual army, and Wilhelm had the power of a crest (evidenced by Edelgard's natural crest of Seiros) in exchange. Again, whether you want to believe the library collection is up to you since people get sooo uptight with Rhea changing history and use head canons instead (I mean Thales throughout the game confirms a lot of Rhea's before death monologue in VW/SS, and Dimitri/Claude/Ingrid/Ashe/Lorenz confirm the Alliance and Kingdom foundings), but it doesn't seem far off on what could've happened. Also we know the 10 elites would've had a longer lifespan due to dragon's blood (as seen with Jeralt). So Rhea potentially sparing them a long time after the war would've been possible (but still weird).
  15. is this one of those let's just turn every 3 houses thread into edelgard good, rhea bad situations? Anyways not to derail what the thread was intended for, I definitely agree Silver Snow is just lacking overall. VW is basically a carbon copy of SS (vice versa) bar 1 chapter but, VW is more or less carried by Claude's charisma which makes it more interesting in a way. Rhea being another damsel in distress (for the 3rd time in a row) was a big letdown since the game barely gives her much content overall, and the content we get that focuses on Rhea shows her crazy manakete side so we never really get to see the flip side on Rhea until the very end. I don't really mind that there isn't a lord, since I guess Seteth/Flayn take over that role and get more screentime but, I always felt that the BE felt lost without Edelgard being around. Bernedetta, Dorothea, and Linhardt are just kind of there honestly, their reasons for joining the professor is clearly because they wanted to follow Byleth and trust their judgement. Caspar is there to cut his own path in a way by defying the empire, similarly to Petra in a way but after the reunion chapter, they get less and less screentime and they just chime in occasionally in the background. The whole Ferdinand dilemma is also weird since Ferdinand knows his dad is a corrupt noble (moreso after his paralogue) but still gets unhappy that his dad lost his title (which I guess meant that Ferdinand lost his title in a way too). I wished SS focused more on the KoS units and staff if they really wanted a group of people to focus on. The conversation leading to the final boss fight was also kind of random, mainly because of the 1 month time gap before Rhea decides she's ready to tell the truth and conveniently turns in the Immaculate One for the finale. Route overall just feels lacking. I feel that the final bosses of VW and SS should've switched with each other.
  16. Think for a first playthrough (both veterans and beginners) should go AM or VW. Both CF and SS have specific flags you need to find (C+ support with Edelgard, visiting the coronation, and sparing/not sparing Edelgard at the tomb) which may be confusing to anyone new to the game in general and, without that knowledge they may or may not have made a second save to go back if they chose to do so. I'd say AM would be the better 1st playthrough than VW mainly because White Clouds has a closer connection to the BL cast (Mercedes and Jeritza, Sylvain and Miklan, Felix and Rodrigue, Ashe and Lonato, and also Dimitri's reaction to Edelgard at the Holy Tomb). The cast of BL is also pretty diverse class wise (also having the biggest pool of recruitable characters as well), considering 5/8 of the cast has hidden talents and can go into multiple different classes without too much difficulty (except Sniper Mercedes). There also isn't too much overlap in terms of classes as there are like 1 infantry lance (or another paladin), 1 paladin, 1 swordmaster, 1 pegasus knight, 1 archer, 1 knight, 1 healer, and 1 mage which could be a good way to play a good number of the classes ig?
  17. I liked how FE5 handled mounted units, by forcing them to dismount in indoor areas (some maps have a mix of indoor/outdoor segments) and giving them a stat penalty for dismounting. I mean if you think about it, it's kinda weird to bring a Pegasus, Horse or Wyvern indoors (how do they even fit inside?), especially if it's some sort of stealth mission like in Mikoto's map in Fates or the prison chapter in FE9 since they'd make a fk ton of noise. Though instead of forcing them to use Swords, I feel like they should be able to use w/e weapon they specialize in. Weather effects could also be used to make fliers not as powerful too, for example maybe have some maps use the dragon vein mechanic in Hinoka's chapter where fliers have decreased movement and foot/horse units have increased movement due to stronger winds or something like that. Terrain penalties also helps balance out horse units too, since it restricts their movement (most notable in 3H where there was quite a bit of terrain like stairs and forest tiles that penalized horseback units). If we talking about nerfing the growth rates of fliers (since 3H did nerf the growths of Cavalier units), then Pegasus Knights really should have a Defense and/or HP penalty (they usually focus on dodge tanking usually) and Wyvern Lords should have some sort of Res and/or Speed penalty to give players at least some incentive to use a Pegasus Knight over a Wyvern Lord (Wyvern classes are generally supposed to be flying tanks, so there is no reason they should be fast + bulky while having some of the best movement in the game).
  18. Shadow Dragon: Catria and Camus Gaiden/SOV: Mae and Python New Mystery: Feena and Luke Genealogy Gen 1: Tailtiu and Lewyn Genealogy Gen 2: Fee and Leif Thracia 776: Eyvel and Finn Binding Blade: Fae and Roy Blazing Sword: Ninian and Pent Sacred Stones: L' Arachel and Innes Path of Radiance: Ilyana and Ike Radiant Dawn: Elincia and Sothe Awakening Gen 1: Sumia and Robin Awakening Gen 2: Noire and Owain Fates Gen 1: Felicia and Saizo Fates Gen 2: Ophelia and Forrest Three Houses: Annette and Felix
  19. Based on anecdotal "evidence" I'd say Sylvain, just because (I have had more successful uses with Sylvain than Ferdinand, used both of them 3 times in different classes though). But early game advantage goes to Sylvain because of his personal (better in Maddening, barely noticeable in Hard, in Maddening any damage buff you can get is good early on) and access to Ruined Sky pretty early on if you recruit him early with female Byleth. Late game advantage goes to Ferdinand because dodge tanking is a lot more reliable late game with Alert Stance+ and his personal. Since you're in Black Eagles, I'd probably just stick with Ferdinand but, if it were up to me I'd probably use both. Ferdinand and Sylvain are pretty similar units honestly, could always use one for this route and use the other in a different route.
  20. Path of Radiance is mounted emblem because maps are large and open. The indoor map penalty is a Radiant Dawn thing so the large number of indoor maps (there's literally 2 anyways, Mia's join chapter and Oliver's chapter), the only chapter that punishes horses is the boulder chapter, desert chapter (which you can just end by defeating Muarim with a flier and you get BEXP for leaving Laguz alive) and the swamp chapter (even then there are 2 swamp portions, 1 of them being a defend map). 1 Mage is usually Soren/Ilyana because of Rescue and Ike is a forced deploy. I mean cool, you used many infantry units and beat the game, doesn't really change that the best units in the game are generally going to be mounted (also PoR isn't exactly a hard game either). Ike - Being swordlocked is bad because you are losing every weapon triangle match up because majority of the enemies in PoR are Lance units. Also not sure why you are trying to fight Cav/Knights with an Iron Blade on Ike when the Regal Sword exists. Iron Blade certainly doesn't make Ike or Mia any better at dealing with armored or cavalier units either, not sure why you brought up the doubling issue since it's common knowledge Ike and Mia are speedy units in PoR. The benefits of an Axe isn't because they have 1-2 options, it's literally because majority of the enemies in the game wield lances (Knights, Cavaliers, Soldiers are incredibly common, Wyvern Riders are more common later on in the game) which means anyone with an Axe will have the weapon triangle advantage over majority of the enemy units in the game, which does sort of fix the accuracy issue of axes. Boyd - That just means your Boyd didn't get speed screwed. He has low base speed (weighed down further by axes) and a mediocre speed growth which makes him prone to be Speed screwed, which means you generally need to give him your speed wings so he doesn't fall behind. Don't know why you need to give Secret Books to Mist since she doesn't have any hit issues (don't know what that has to do with a Sonic Sword since Mist doesn't have hit issues with that either), whereas Boyd does because his base skill is low and axes are generally inaccurate. Never said Axes were bad, Boyd having Bows is irrelevant since he promotes with E-Rank bows (when he can use a Tomohawk or Short Axe if he wants range and not risk getting free hits from the enemy). Nephenee - I did talk about her in FE10 hence, "her join weapon..." since she doesn't have a join weapon in FE9 (I mean since you played FE9 soooo many times it should be common knowledge) and I also used the "In PoR..." after I talked about the first part on why I think she's overrated in FE10. I mean I only added the 2nd part to prevent anyone for assuming I thought Nephenee was overrated in FE10 but good in FE9.
  21. Disagree with Asvel being overrated. Grafcalibur is what makes Asvel amazing (in addition to Sage being broken and him being the earliest available mage that can promote around Chapter (Eight) ๐Ÿ˜Žand allows him to be the best boss killer in the game due to low weight, high accuracy, crit, and might. No one else can use Grafcalibur anyways so saying if you take away Grafcalibur he's shaky is weird. Wind tomes in general are pretty scarce (iirc you only get one for free by capturing) and you only get one until they are available in the shop in Linoan's promo chapter. Even then Asvel can doubles and take most enemies (besides Bishops usually and Reinhardt) with Fire since enemies are weak in FE5 and have low Res (shouldn't be spamming Grafcalibur unless you need to outside Manster arc). His only competition is Sara just because of her high staff rank so she can use Warp, Rescue and Rewarp but she joins late.span widget
  22. Pretty sure Rhea never fought the Agarthans the first time, that probably was Sothis's doing. There's evidence pointing to Rhea/Seiros not being there considering, Rhea says something about how she was a child when she heard the screams in the Holy Tomb in Part 1 I believe (referencing Nemesis invading the Holy Tomb, Zanado is near Garreg Mach so it isn't too far away from the Holy Tomb), she has a WTF reaction when you say Sothis looked like a child (She says in GD info dump that Sothis descended as a dragon but took human form) so I wouldn't be surprised if she never actually saw Sothis since Sothis was hibernating and everyone else was in Zanado or elsewhere, and I believe she was the last child of Sothis (I think she brings this up in SS route). Rhea also mentions how she wanted to gather the remaining children were scattered across Fodlan to battle Seiros (which probably means Seteth/Flayn were somewhere else, most likely the coastal area in their paralogue and they talk about fish and fishing a lot, we know Indech/Macuil wanted to be by themselves based on their paralogues and also in Bernie/Seteth support) and she says that she was the only survivor in Zanado. So Seteth probably didn't know anything, and Flayn was probably still a child too or wasn't even born yet. She also admits to knowing a group was plotting against her but, doesn't know who said group was until probably Solon revealed himself to everyone. Seteth even mentions there was a large investigation in the SS info dump to find out who said group was, which could've been the same investigation Rhea/Seteth/Shamir were talking about in the beginning of the game where you first see Shamir. Also yikes, using headcannon to boost your argument.
  23. Your dancer really should be a house member that you are planning on not using long term (I chose Ingrid in my run since I wanted to try Rallybot Wyvern Lord Annette), their combat doesn't really matter since they are dancing like 90% of the time. I found having a Dancer makes the dreaded Chapter 13 a bit more manageable too
  24. Overrated Clarine - Age old debate on Clarine vs. Cecilia, and I notice that there are more pro-Clarine people than pro-Cecilia. Clarine joins early but, she's really only useful as a healbot until you unlock Cecilia (even then, I'd rather healbot with Saul so I can promote him ASAP since he has higher Mag and staff rank, only joining 1 chapter later). Cecilia comes prepromoted with a meh staff rank but, she can at least hold her own with passable ish bases. Clarine's base magic, staff rank and low level doesn't make her worth using long term imo. Barst (FE12) - Not really worth using but, is still a good unit. Speed is shaky and joins with a low Axe rank which isn't too great. Midir - Almost always compared with Jamke, with Midir being called superior almost all the time. Honestly, both aren't worth using at all tbh. Midir has low bases and low growths, and he desperately needs either the Killer or Brave Bow to function well. He does have a horse which is pretty big over Jamke but, Jamke's combat will almost always outclass Midir's (not factoring Mov into the equation). Marcia (FE10) - Like Barst, she's definitely a good unit. Never found her too useful in Part 2 bar the prologue (I prefer getting the BEXP in Geoffrey's charge and she needs to maneuver around perfectly in part 2 final chapter due to the high amount of crossbow users) and she joins the Greil Mercs pretty late at a low level. Still good if you invest in her but, ehhhh Ike (FE9) - Seen the fun old Kieran vs. Ike debate where having OVERKILL DAMAGE is better than having enough damage to KO enemies + a horse apparently. Anyways, Ike is good early due to the influx of Brigand/Axe enemy units but, once you start fighting Daein forces, tankier Lance wielding enemies (Cavs and Knights) become a lot more common. Being swordlocked is also a curse in this game on top of having a decently late promo, he really only becomes OP once he gets Ragnell/Wrath+Resolve which is pretty late in the game. Boyd - Never been a fan of him tbh, I find him pretty overrated overall (moreso in RD). In PoR he's the best infantry unit but, that's not really saying much considering the game is mounted emblem + 1 mage + Ike. I find that if a unit has to monopolize every Speedwing and Secret Book in the game, maybe the unit probably isn't as good as they claim? He's definitely good in PoR but, I found his usefulness wane further into the game. Now RD is where I find him the most overrated, he's often seen as better than Nolan (looking at vanilla game, no transfers) but, Nolan has Tavros (which is better than Urvan, even then Urvan should go to Jill) and better speed. Boyd's base speed isn't that good, and it doesn't help that his speed growth isn't great either and speed is pretty huge in both Tellius games. Nephenee (FE10) - I love my bbgirl but I mean, her join weapon weighs her down which is a preeetty big problem for a unit who's strength is in their speed stat. You either risk getting weighed down with great lances or use regular lances and risk having just a low str stat. In PoR she's just bad, having E lances is pretty terrible even though her bases are ok. Doesn't help Kieran joins at the same time as her, and Jill follows up soon enough and they are better candidates for just general exp (both kills and BEXP). Florina (HHM) - She's gonna be broken if you did Lyn mode but, if you just did HHM I find her overrated. She's valued for being an early flier but, she needs a lot of investment and, there aren't too many opportunities to invest in her (chapter 16/18 have a lot of archers, chapter 16x has a lot of axe units, and chapter 17 she is in danger of random pegs if she wants to pick off the shamans), the only safe chapter to invest in her is her join chapter. And by chapter 18, I find Fiora a much better unit to invest in since she's more durable despite having less speed. and while we're here...
