  1. Okay, so…the Forbidden Seven. A group of code names with leftover data implying seven characters cut from Brawl. "pra_mai", commonly theorized to be Plusle and Minun from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. However, the name also means “every player”, so it could’ve also been a name for Miis (which were considered for Brawl but ultimately dropped) or the RANDOM button on the CSS. "mewtwo", "roy" and "dr_mario", definitely known to be three characters who were planned to return from Melee, but were dropped due to time constraints. It should be noted that Mewtwo and Roy’s data put together includes unused victory themes and a Wii Remote sound. "toon_zelda" and "toon_sheik", commonly theorized to either be Tetra or simple Toon versions of Zelda and Sheik. "dixie", last name Kong. According to Sakurai, Dixie and Diddy were supposed to be another tag team like the Ice Climbers, but this was dropped because of technical issues and Diddy became a solo fighter. After mulling over the Forbidden Seven most recently, I then thought to myself “what if all of these characters managed to make it into Brawl?” Keep in mind that these are my ideas and they do not reflect those of other people. Mewtwo, Roy and Dr. Mario would of course return, since they’re veterans (and in the latter two’s case, they’d be even easier to develop since they’re clones) Dixie Kong would also be a solo fighter and a semi-clone of Diddy ”pra_mai”: I was thinking it should be Plusle and Minun as spiritual successors to Pichu’s moveset (minus recoil, obviously) and a tag team character ”toon_zelda” and “toon_sheik”: Honestly? I’d say just put your best foot forward and make Tetra a fighter with a fully unique moveset
  2. I figured this would’ve been saved for a September Direct, but I’m not complaining.
  3. Maybe a tone similar to Engage? Plus, Heroes and Paper Mario both have some pretty similar art styles.
  4. Personally, for the entire series, I would go with: 1. Marth (debuts in 64, along with the other three cut characters Bowser, Dedede and Mewtwo; moveset remains the same) 2. Lyn (debuts in Brawl; moveset involves a mix of swords and bow) 3. Ike (debuts in Brawl; moveset is mostly unchanged, but now Ike’s Smash attacks involve Urvan) 4. Chrom (debuts in Sm4sh; moveset is completely different from Marth’s, being a mix of swords and lances. Lucina is also an alternate costume with her own 8 palette swaps.) 5. Azura (debuts in Sm4sh as DLC; moveset involves a mix of lance, dance and water bending) 6. Byleth (debuts in Ultimate; moveset remains unchanged)
  5. Just about any of the old licensed arcade games throughout the 90’s.
  6. I know this seems like a weirdly specific question but stay with me. For as blatantly over the top as Engage’s art style is, I think it also has sort of a cute charm to it. So the question I wanted to ask is, which character in FE Engage would you like to hug? Just to be clear, I’m not asking this with ulterior motives, this is entirely a casual question. Anyways, for me: Alear Clanne and Framme Queen Lumera Alfred Céline Alcryst Lapis Timerra Ivy Hortensia
  7. I’m hoping for at least some of the past games on NSO but I’m just gonna wait and see.
  8. In one of his recent game development videos, Sakurai feels like for now, Smash can’t continue without him, which tells me he doesn’t know of an obvious successor yet. My question is; in your opinion, what direction should Smash take after Ultimate?
  9. I know this thread seems redundant but stay with me. I’ve seen plenty of people throw out ideas about how Smash should handle the Engage mechanic if Alear were to be a fighter. In your opinion, how should the Engage mechanic be handled? I already did an entire thread going into more depth, but I wanted to hear other people’s thoughts and feelings.
  10. I was hard on it at first but after checking it out on YouTube, I warmed up to it. I haven’t heard good things about Fell Xenologue, though, so I’m gonna avoid it.
  11. Yeah, I think they absolutely should've included the Dark Emblems as recurring rivals of the regular Emblems. Doesn't even have to be the same ones as in the endgame; it could work more like Rival Units in Project X Zone. Hardin can be the Dark Emblem of Archanea Berkut can be the Dark Emblem of Valentia Julius and Reinhardt can be the respective Dark Emblems of Judgral Zephiel and Nergal can be the respective Dark Emblems of Elibe Lyon can be the Dark Emblem of Magvel The Black Knight and Ashera can be the respective Dark Emblems of Tellius Hodded Grima can be the Dark Emblem of Ylisse Garon can be the Dark Emblem of Fateslandia Edelgard can be a different case where she initially starts as the Dark Emblem of Fódlan, but then later joins you.
  12. Edited the moveset to place some more emphasis on the Arts. Also, the point of the Diamant counter was to discourage spamming it, but I fixed that too.
  13. Sorry, I should've been more specific with the title. Fixed it.
  14. You know how in most old fighting games, each character has a stage and music specific to them? Well, what if Melee had the same thing for each character? Basically, I'm going to assign each character their own stage, with some extra stages thrown in for good measure. Home stages Other stages
  15. Okay, so--Alear is undeniably a hot topic for Smash Bros., both within and outside the Smash community. The most popular ideas from other people is to take other FE characters' moves (typically the characters deemed likely to be cut next game) and slap them onto Alear for the sake of representing the Engage mechanic. But after watching a playthrough of Engage on YouTube and doing some research, I decided to take a different approach with Alear and the Engage mechanic. Just so you know, there will be MAJOR story spoilers for Engage. Alts Animations Normal Attacks Special Moves & Fighter Ability Stage & Music Spirit Battles
  16. Didn’t realize I sparked another thread… Anyway, I personally never liked permadeath, but I have no ill will people towards people who do. This is the reason why I’m glad Casual mode exists at all; Casual is for people who don’t like permadeath, and Classic is for people who do.
  17. I know Casual Mode is a pretty hot topic in the Fire Emblem fan base, but I just wanted to ask: in your opinion, should Casual Mode have been introduced sooner? Personally, I think it should’ve been introduced as far back as Blazing Blade, since it was the first FE game to be launched outside of Japan.
  18. I think Casual Mode should’ve been introduced as far back as Blazing Blade for no other reason than because it was the first game in the series to be released outside of Japan. That way, the overseas audience who only knew about the series through Melee can experience it in even greater abundance (i.e. with the potential overseas fan base potentially doubling by way of people who don’t want to see their units die for real).
  19. Well, for Sacred Stones on DS, ideally it should have a similar presentation to something like (as an example) Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier. Sprites similar to the GBA games but with more fluid animation and the best parts of both worlds as far as gameplay is concerned (supports and Gaiden chapters from the GBA games and reclasses from the DS games). But like I said, I can’t say for sure.
  20. I was inspired by this topic but I didn’t want to reply since it’s over five years old now. I basically wanted to ask a similar question in the NES / SNES era sub-forum: If FE1 had less playable characters overall, who would you keep and why? For me: Marth Caeda Jagen Cain & Abel Draug Gordin Wrys Ogma Barst Darros Julian Lena Navarre Merric Hardin Wendell Bantu Jeorge Maria Minerva Linde Whitewings Arran & Samson Xane Tiki Lorenz Gotoh Elice And as far as characters who weren’t playable before, Nyna joins the battle as a Curate when you first recruit her in Chapter 12 (also, Elice joins you much sooner, in Chapter 6). For this roster, I wanted to focus on the characters who would solidify the archetypes for playable characters in future games, as well as characters important to the story. For Darros and Barst, it was for the sake of having at least one playable Pirate and Fighter, respectively. For Arran and Samson, it was for the sake of the “choose one to recruit” mechanic. For Wrys, it’s because of his memetic ensemble dark horse nature.
  21. Those aren’t questions I can answer for sure, but I wanted to at least muse the idea.
  22. Fun fact: Nyna was originally supposed to be playable in FE1 as a Paladin, but that role was given to Hardin. If Troubadours and Valkyries were a class in Shadow Dragon, would Nyna have fit the role as a compromise? It’s still a class on horseback, but it serves as more of a supporting role.
  23. This was a question that’s been pondering my mind for a while. I wasn’t sure if I should specifically post this in the Sacred Stones sub-forum or the Shadow Dragon sub-forum, so I instead settled on the general Fire Emblem sub-forum. Basically, my question is: should Shadow Dragon have been a GBA game (as a Zero Mission-esque remake of the first game with added depth to the story and characters, loose inspiration from the OVA and a set of five new chapters after Medeus’ defeat unlocked via special conditions)? And should Sacred Stones have been a brand-new game on the DS with all the new things it brought to the table and more?
  24. Would the home castles work as a hub of sorts in a Genealogy remake if they work mostly the same as they do in the original?
