Cannot agree with you more - though this is actually my second Hard/Classic run because I got a little stuck on my first (lost one of my best pairs, Sumia and Frederick, Sumia being my ONLY Pegesus Knight since Cordelia died early on, tried to train their daughter Cynthia as a Peggy replacement, got sick of grinding, deleted save file ;-;), but this one is going a little better this time - I haven't lost anyone!...Not counting resets (I try not to...but???)

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII AM A FOREVER SUCKER FOR CHROBIN MMK???  They're just so cute together and sweet and always have each other's backs and MMMMMMMM can't not marry Chrom (have yet to do a guy playthrough, so I've ONLY ever married Chrom x.x ...Although M!Robin should be able to marry Chrom too tbh - they still have REALLY strong chemistry!!)  Also if you marry Lucina too?  I've seen the dialog change (through other's videos) if you're married to her, and it's still really good too??  And it shows how much she cares about her father and the future, but also how much she can't afford to lose anyone else because of her hell of a future??

Yeah I've seen a lot of people chew on Awakening and while I can get some of the criticisms (easy gameplay, for one), complaints on the writing I never got - it's a game about hope, of course the dialog wouldn't be as grim as something like PoR or RD!

Wow, I had no idea branching class promotions were ever removed - remove options, who the heck would do that??  But yeah SS, FE7, FE6, 9, 10, I've been REALLY wanting to play.

On that train of thought, like you, Awakening is my favorite partially out of first-game favoritism - yes I am THAT kind of fan, who got into FE with Awakening, and stuck with it ever since, but that doesn't mean I have no interest in the older games or games with perma-death, believe me.

But yeah more on the topic if Awakening, Ik it's REALLY easy to break it with pair-up, and of the major villains, there are only two good ones imo (Grima and Gangrel; I have a soft spot for Validar bc headcanons, Yen'fey and  Aversa are...okay, but p much the rest of them kind of suck - although while they aren't major, I wish Pheros and Mustafa got more screen time ;-;), but the story, while simplistic in concept, it's execution just felt really???  Heartfelt???  Genuine???  Like it's really hard to explain, but because of just how GOOD all of the units you can get in the main story are (I think all of them are fantastic), what was a simple story turned into a REALLY investing tale, especially since I married Chrom in game?  So Lucina's conviction for saving her world and Chrom's loyalty towards Robin felt real.  Emm's sacrifice too, made sense and did actually hit me hard because I could understand her thought process (since I chose to hand over the Fire Emblem instead of risking Emm's life), and Chapter 10 will probably be my all time favorite chapter in FE for a long, LONG time just due to how well the execution was ("Don't speak her name" will haunt me for the rest of time).

Oh, and the Grima boss fight?  While I will readily admit that Duma was way harder, and an overall better boss, "Id, Purpose" and the entire battle were just INTENSE and definitely memorable; not to mention just fun to finally overcome

Ik the game is easy (when I tend to prefer a meatier challenge) and easily broken with things like the aforementioned pair-up and Galeforce, the WRITING and characters are just really good imo - it turns a generic, hero-kills-big-bad-dragon into something that really, REALLY stuck out to me as special (as cheesy as that sounds)

(Although, I'm not going to lie, when I finally racked up the courage to do Classic/Hard mode, the game itself got p good to - one thing I never wholly understood is people complaining about the map design for a lack of variety, because the paralogs???  Are still a thing??? And have a lot of unique and interesting map mechanics??? Idk)
