  1. @Funky Tim Thank ye kindly ;-; Okay but I actually got the ability to post my own stuff (I think you need to post ten times at least), so I don't even need to bum out here anymore But ngl this is actually kind of nice ^u^
  2. Hmm, I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as the visit tile is a distinctly different color form the rest of the map - like don't use yellow if you're planning on having a desert map or a canyon made up of yellow stone, stuff like that Although maybe the reason why houses always face forward isn't necessarily a visibility thing, but maybe a gameplay thing? Like most houses are built in a way in the 3D Fire Emblem games to make enemies take at least two turns to fully circle around the house to the front (if they're positioned in a user-friendly way, at least), and your units are usually placed in such a way to have easier access to said houses, like chapter 7 of Conquest (not counting those houses tucked away in the corners of the map where you can't reach them, those were unfair) - if the doors were on the sides of the houses, it might be easier for the enemy to swing around and steal/kill the residence/recruit whatever from the houses. Idk if this would actually be too much of a problem, if the map were designed with this in mind, but I suppose you can say that about anything *shrug*
  3. Honestly the Fates lore trips over itself so much that it's hard to get anywhere without falling into plotholes or some sort of poorly explained thing like this. Although, while Corrin isn't really a Manakete (as Manakete's are dragons that repress their powers and take on a human form to avoid degeneration, Corrin seems more like to me that that's just the way they are: a half-and-half deal where they can easily take on the form of a human and a dragon with comparatively little repercussions, seeing as they could accesses a good chunk of their powers without suffering for it - heck, in Warriors, Tiki even points how different she and Corrin are in their support), both Corrin and the more traditional Manaketes seem to be able to shift clothes without problem. Swords too, can be shifted into, like Yato, and objects that are canonically kept with the characters at all times (Nowi's wedding ring given to Nah, for example), so it seems like non-sentient matter, or perhaps, what a dragon/manakete considers to be a "part of them" gets shifted into them? That's one theory anyway - as long as the shifter subconsciously considers something to be a "part" of them, the magic of the stones allow them to also become a part of the fully shifted form (swords and weapons being an extension of themselves, and clothes since, and I can't say this with too much confidence, because I'm no mindreader, but I think at least most people don't think about them as immediately separate until they're made like, aware of it? Like your clothes getting wet, torn, itchy, someone pulls on your sleeve etc...Basically I'm just saying that I don't think most people are like, hyper aware of the fact they are wearing clothes the way they are that they are holding something). This also explains Taguel, since Panne and Yarne can shift, but their clothes don't get merged into them - in fact, it looks like their clothes were MADE to be shifted into; can't say this with any certainty, since this is diving into headcanon territory, but this could be because Taguel, a more bestial race, don't consider clothes to be a "part" of them the way humans or dragons seem to. Maybe this is why Corrin doesn't wear shoes too Where do the clothes/weapons/other objects go then? Again, super headcanon-y, but I think that maybe, since it seems to be some sort of magic that allows Corrin to change between their forms safely, and for Manakete's to release their draconic forms, that said magic turns their clothes and such into, like, slightly thicker scales than usual? Like, if the magic can convert skin into scales, fingers into claws, and straight up cause the user to sprout wings seemingly from nothing, why couldn't do the same for clothes or swords? I mean, at least in the case of clothes, it's still a semi-organic origin and all, so I don't see why it wouldn't work? Just turn the clothes into like, slightly longer claws than you would have if you shifted idk naked, or into slightly more membrane on your wings, etc. Idk I guess this whole thing is more of an extension of what @Light Strategist said more than anything else, but I think it makes at least a little bit more sense than just "clothes and sword and anything the dragon was holding just vanishes into the ether".
  4. Eh idk, I just think a fresh perspective could help, tis all. While BoW may have not felt very "Zelda-y", it was a nice change of pace from the formula that they'd stuck with for about twenty years. While I think, gameplay-wise, other than some balancing issues in the more recent games, Fire Emblem is generally alright, I think the story and presentation, as good as I find them, would be an interesting thing to hand over to another set of people (with some supervision, as I said) just to see the really interesting ways they could take a franchise like FE.
  5. @Nym's body is flung so hard, so fast, and so high, that he crashes into the wing of a passing airplane that I was inside of As the airplane crashes to the ground as nothing more than a spectacular, red-gold blaze on the horizon, I, still on the burning wreck, throw out a container of young, live eels I had been keeping safe and sound until now to the next poster
  6. ...Which, I've learned, usually means "We have no idea when this thing's coming out, but it's PROBABLY this year. Probably. But it easily could be next year because screw you that's why". Hopefully they won't delay it, but if they do, I hope it's for a good reason, like polishing up the game or tweaking mechanics: wanting more time for that kind of stuff I don't mind and can completely understand
  7. Honestly? I may be just reading too hard into things, but if it's there, I love the subtly of Nowi's character as a whole - acts like a child, acts ignorant, but seems to understand the gravity of her situation - she's going to outlive everyone in the army. Her family is dead, and she's probably going to end up all alone someday, but she tries to keep a happy, blissful visage because she values the happiness of those around her more than her own. She's just MMMMMMMMMMMM really good
  8. @foxysauce Noitwansn'taMyHeroAcademiacharacterImadeupbecauseIlikedtheshow'squirksystemeventhoughIhaven'twatchedtheanimeormanagoranythinglikethathahaha ...Okay but yeah I did make a MHA character because I liked the creativity and freedom of the quirk system, and I came up with a character with this power set, who intentionally watches horror movies to try to influence his dreams so he can get something useful, and if he gets something bad, isn't very creative or flexible with the hand he's given, and often needs his teammates to actually give him ideas on how to use something that seems useless in an interesting in useful way (And he gets really upset and insecure when he has a dreamless sleep haha)
  9. I think like a lot of people here, I got into Awakening as my first Fire Emblem game, and I couldn't be more thankful that I got into this series, so I have a lot to thank Awakening for. I got into the game because of Corrin (seriously) - because of the Smash Bros. DLC and the fact that "oh cool, they're a dragon!" And since wasn't out at the time, and I was starting to get into the franchise, I played my friend's copy of Awakening. And then I got my own copy after I fell head over heels with it. The characters in the game are some of my favorite of all time (Chrom, Lucina, Cherche, Lissa, Nowi, Robin themselves, to name a few), and while I know the story is fairly generic all things considered, with how much clear effort was put into the game, how much the characters meant to me as the game progressed, I couldn't help but fall in love with it, and feel every beat of the story. While the game isn't flawless (no game is, really), with how much passion I felt was put into make this game a good final page on Fire Emblem's legacy, it was impossible for me to not get swept up into that same passion. The gameplay, while easy to break and just...easy in general (if you aren't playing on Lunatic and up, at least), gave me a lot of fun my first time running through, and still quite a bit on reruns, and it's level of experimentation and replayability is something I absolutely love about it! I can't be grateful enough to Awakening for getting me into such a wonderful franchise, with some of the best stories, and greatest characters I've seen yet!
  10. Well, calling it OP kind of depends on the shapeshifting, I guess, because are we talking about single-form shapeshifting? (think Corrin, manaketes, and Laguz/Taguel) Or something more like Beastboy from Teen Titans, where he can take on the form of any animal that has existed, or is currently existing (so birds, lions, dinos, mammoths, etc.); and don't quote me on this because I don't follow DC in the least, but I remember hearing somewhere that apparently he went to the Underworld, and got demon forms? Or we could just have something completely unrestricted, and be able to take on the form of ANYTHING you can imagine. Although, that begs the question: do you retain sentience if you turn into an inanimate object? Like, it doesn't have a BRAIN, so do you just...die? If you turn into a chair? And what about plants? They ARE alive, but they don't have brains so...? Idk it's completely unfettered shapeshifting and instead of "becoming" that thing, you just "take it's form" so you can become a sentient table???? Or something??? Actually, I have an idea of how dream powers can work. Basically it works like this: anything you see/do in your dreams is fair game. So if you saw yourself/someone getting consumed by a shark melting out of a wall, guess what? You can now summon sharks out of walls. If you turned into a hideous beast, there you go - you can turn yourself into that monster you saw. If you saw people getting physically twisted and mutilated by some unknowable force, you can now dish out that force on your enemies. However, most of these are what people would call "nightmares", so of course, this power has a flip side - if you just see, idk, you turning into a living piece of macaroni, you can now do that. Having more cats in your house than you actually have? If you activate your power, cats will suddenly flock towards you. Or like, if you see people like, wearing shoes on their hands and nothing else, that's your power. Basically, the "dream powers" are you imposing what you saw in your dream into reality. As you can see, this can either be one of the most dangerous powers you could ever have, or one of the lamest. And if you have a dreamless sleep? No powers. And the powers you get in your dreams only apply until you fall asleep, so if you doze off or go to bed after getting some really cool power (phasing through walls, reanimating food into the animals they once were and having them fight for you, etc.) will be gone. And if you dream about something lame or mundane? Well, sucks to be you Anyway, that's what I thought "dream powers" would be, anyway
  11. I actually think while IS shouldn't be taken off the project all together, that some fresh faces would be good - Breath of the Wild was mostly made by people who hadn't worked on a Zelda game AT ALL, and it became one of the most acclaimed Zelda games of all time. So, in my opinion, while some IS people should stay on to supervise, I think some new perspectives would be good - especially if they had a respect to FE as a franchise, like what happened with Sonic Mania - essentially a fan game made with some supervision and a sizable budget, and that, like BoW, was one of the most well-received games in it's franchise. Then again, unlike Sonic Mania, FE doing pretty well financially, so this might not be the greatest idea, but I'd at least like to see someone new put their own spin on the series ^^
  12. ...I forgot about Nagi - but doesn't that mean it's even more likely Awakening!Naga isn't the SD!Naga? Unless Nagi ascended to "Nagahood" and...Idk there aren't enough details on how Divine Dragon ascension works, and we'll probably never get those details :/ Wait you never see SD Naga?...Weird, with how important of a character she is, but I suppose she was supposed to play a god-like figure, and it was only Awakening that demystified her And that's why it would make a great game! Or at least some form of side content that's largely focused on Lucina's trials through her future...Idk we just need more stuff on this part of Awakening imo ^^
  13. That's...something that I would actualyl like to see? Anankos manipulating and juicing up the already present dragon blood, and making some weird sort of Dusk/Silent or Dawn/Silent hybrid dragon? Maybe have the transformation be painful and against the host's will, to make it more of a mercy kill (like the Takumi boss fight), and all the more horrifying for Corrin to have to strike down. Yeah but couldn't Anankos turn people into Faceless? If he's on the level of a god to the point where he can suck the souls out of people and change their appearance like that, why not give them his blood and make them more powerful? (P sure Gooron though didn't turn into a dragon because is form was already revealed or something - or that the throne's poorly explained power made him literally hollow? Like not as powerful? Idk man)
  14. Okay, I misremembered the sacrifice thing - I forgot that she wasn't trying to push Robin into that and I don't know why. And maybe the belittling thing is more up to interpretation, since the whole Future Past DLC showed Robin being VERY upset at his lack of humanity, but I thought it was pretty much confirmed that SD!Naga and Awakening!Naga were two different people? I mean it's not like Tiki ever refers to Awakening!Naga as her mom or anything. And I wasn't advocating for SD!Naga being better - just that she tends to value humanity over her own kind, and probably wouldn't let Robin do something like that, or leave the choice up to them. I mean, how she treated Tiki is just one example, and the way she condemned Duma and Mila to killing each other by giving Duma Falchion isn't indicative towards someone who cares about her own kind. But you can't deny that she cared for humanity - perhaps her leaving humanity was her way of saying that humanity would be for the best; now I will fully admit that I've never played Shadow Dragon or Mystery of the Emblem (unfortunately), and most of my knowledge comes from potentially dubious wikis, so I could be completely wrong about all the stuff I'm saying about Shadow Dragon, but in the Future Past DLC, you see Tiki ascend to the title of "Naga", so it's HIGHLY likely that Awakening!Naga isn't SD!Naga Closer to on topic, one thing I'd like to explore is how the surviving Manakete's handled Grima's rise - we know from Nowi that there are some tucked away villages of them left, but since it seems like mostly humans and Divine Dragons that Grima despises (and the latter most likely because it was Naga that sealed him in the first place more than anything else), so do you think Grima may...spare? The other dragons? Or do you think he'd strike them down too? This is something I'd like to know about Lucina's future
  15. P sure Galeforce was only added to the Dark Flier class - which didn't come back (excluding DLC) in Fates. Base Peggys and Falcon Knights don't get anything that op, so it shouldn't be that bad to lift the restriction, as long as Galeforce is either out of the picture, or REALLY nerfed
  16. Wouldn't that mean Xander or Camilla or Leo or any of Garon's children would be able to transform too? Not to mention, the boss you fight IS Gooron, not Garon, and we were never given any idea that Anankos' creations could turn into dragons. If Gooron can't, why don't any of his Vallite soldiers, the Invaders? Why don't they all just turn into dragons? Wouldn't that make attacking the Baby Realms kids or raiding Hoshido all the easier? Idk thinking too hard about the Birthright boss fight just punches even more holes into Fates' plot/lore than there already were :/
  17. Actually, if you don't get Lucina married to anyone (like I did), you get this ending for her: "Lucina disappeared after whispering these words to her infant self: "Yours will be a happy future." Did she journey to another land or back to her own time? ...No one knows for certain." Same goes if she becomes "Companions" with Owain: "Owain set off on a lengthy quest with Lucina to "stay his sword hand." Did they simply journey to another land, or did they return to their own time? None know for certain." I actually think it's kind of sweet that the Awakening kids finally get to live a normal life - something they were robbed of in their own time
  18. @Jotari@omegaxis1 (I'm not going to quote the entire conversation ^^") Or perhaps it has something to do with Naga's protection? Since the Naga in Awakening is different from the Naga in Marth's time, it's possible she has different ideals than the "original" Naga. For example, I don't think Marth's Naga would have belittled the avatar by calling them "Fellblood" or trying to get them to sacrifice themselves like Awakening Naga did - Marth's Naga probably would have tried to protect every human she could, while Awakening!Naga might have some bias towards holy bloods (such as Owain and Lucina) and their group, and Divine Dragons such as Nah, even if just half
  19. Strictly in the nay category - since characters (for the most part *looks at Awakening Avatar*) are already restricted by each of their classing options only having two or three unique branches, so why not let some guys (like Virion comes to mind) reclass into Peggy Knights? Or some girls (S U L L Y) be Fighters/Barbarians? It just doesn't make sense to not have those options - because imagine if Cherche was a guy and had the same backstory of being trained as a healer - but healers were a female only class (not counting Priests here) - it just wouldn't make sense
  20. O o p s Hello to you too! Sorry for taking over your thread o -o" I do too, or maybe the issue will resolve itself after I post a bit more idk
  21. Ah, that makes sense then - I watched the first bit I think, but never got farther, so thanks for correcting me
  22. I smell retconning...But perhaps that's why in the first place, they made them bring up their past in DLC rather than the support conversation? Because they messed that up, realized, but instead of idk patching it out, they made a bunch of DLC that gives them more backstory? I actually don't mind this too much, since the intention was still there - and the support conversations themselves don't feel out of place to me, and could still reasonably happen. Also, how canon are the drama-cds? I can see the first one being canon, since it took place in between a time skip, but as much as I love the second one, the event of Robin getting sick was kind of a big deal in there? And the fact Lucina ran into Henry, and yet it doesn't come up in game at all that he helped her out or anything?
  23. Actually...It's possible they haven't? With a few exceptions, such as Cynthia and Gerome (Gerome: I never agreed to such a thing. ...I have nothing to say. Cynthia: Liar! Remember when we were kids? We'd talk for hours and hours!), it's likely that perhaps the Awakening children only met up somewhat recently? Out of necessity? I mean, I have yet to finish the Awakening Drama CD (the one about the Awakening kids, at least), so I don't know if I'm wrong, but I thought it was kind of implied that the kids were on their own for awhile? (To Noire) Owain: Ha! Tell me about it! I spent most of my time in the future eating bugs. So what do you call this delicious morsel, anyway? ...Wouldn't the other kids already know about something like that if they'd been together for awhile? Then there's Kjelle's conversation with the Female!Avatar: Kjelle: In my future, humanity was on the verge of extinction. Risen roamed the land. My life depended on my armor. Long after my comrades and parents were dead and gone, it yet protected me. In the end, it was all I had left. It was constant. It never deserted me. Avatar: ...... Kjelle: It's thanks to my armor that I'm still alive today to talk about it. Do you see now? Armor isn't just my gear. It's a friend to whom I owe my life. Avatar: But that was then...Now you have something better you can rely on. Kjelle: ...Better armor, you mean? Avatar: No! Us, Kjelle! Your friends! Look around the camp. Don't you see how many people here care about you? When we all stand together, nothing can possibly harm you. Kjelle: You make a convincing case, Avatar. But I don't simply want to protected—I want to protect my comrades in turn! The wording "You make a convincing case" gives me at least the distinct impression that she didn't realize how many people actually care about her - not to mention the line "Long after my comrades and parents were dead and gone," which says that the kids may have been traveling with other people before meeting up. And then you get Nah's conversation with her father (Just going to use the M!Avatar's conversation for simplicity's sake): Nah: No. I never knew either of my parents. I was sent to live with the family of one of my father's soldier friends. But my new family wasn't very welcoming to their semihuman-mongrel foster child. Avatar: Don't say that. Nah: I soon learned that I'd have to work hard to fit in and survive in my new home. I did chores before I was asked. I helped to defend the house from marauding Risen. I thought that if I could make myself useful, they would stop...hating me. I mean, how could they resent a child that always helped and never asked for anything? But they never accepted me... I just learned to deal with disappointment. I had no friends. No one to talk to. ...I was utterly alone. And I never once mentioned how much I missed my father and mother. *Sniff* I...I didn't even ask...when...when would they come back for me... This REALLY speaks to me as a lot of the Awakening kids no knowing each other for the longest time, just trying to survive in their war torn world, until someone (most likely Lucina) found and recruited them either out of kindness (as she didn't want to leave the behind), knowing their linage, or some combination of the two. Not to mention in the true ending of Awakening, most of the adult characters in the game split up, going to live their own lives or raise a family, so, I think, at least, that due to the mess that was Grima's Rise, the fact that there was likely to be quiet a bit of literal distance between them, and trying to survive in their own homelands, it's actually reasonable to assume that the Awakening kids didn't get to really know each other as people. Severa's dialog here says to me that the kids, while fighting for each other and risking their lives for one another, didn't get to know each other as people. Nor did they learn squat about talking to in casual situations. And even in the Future Past DLC, yeah they were working together, but still, they may have JUST met up for the most part, only joining together for the sake of survival and some already established connections (Cynthia/Kjelle, Cynthia/Gerome, Lucina/Owain, etc.). Anyway, that's just my two cents on what you said, sorry if this derailed the topic a bit
  24. S H A P E S H I F T I N G Not only is it just super cool in general, but you get so many powers in one - shrinking? Turn into a mouse or bug (or if this is a very general shapeshifting, just make yourself small idk). Flight? Bird - if you're boring, otherwise DRAGON (if we're allowing more fantastical stuff in this scenario). Strength? Hello I'd like to direct you to all of the horrifyingly strong animals we have on this earth, elephants, mountain lions, bears, and also DINOSAURS probably?? And if this is a more broad type of shapeshifting (such as, just being able to take the form and powers of whatever you want - it doesn't have to exist - just anything and everything straight out of your imagination), just think of the possibilities!
  25. Yes, fare thee well young traveler! May you bring glory and honor to Intro Lurkers like us across the land! ...And I guess I should probably go too...Welp :P
