That's not even enough sometimes, though. Sometimes the projected damage is less than the remaining HP of one of my units, and what ends up happening is that someone dies, but a different unit gets healed.

It’s about setting your tactics right but sometimes something else happens. Like say you put Sharon to heal whoever has the lowest hp, but a different ally gets hit dropping them lower then the one you want healed.

Scarlet seems to be the obvious one but I'm going with Mellisandra because its funnier.

Fun fact. You can also give the ring to Virginia and its not platonic.

It’s seems par for the course but Melisandre and Virginia (along with Rosa) appear to be the fan favorite picks and like always I don’t get it. I’ve been pretty disappointed with Virginia’s personality.

The General dude? I don’t think he joins either way.

He has a Legionnaire spot in the registry so he has got to be recruitable somehow. I got Gilbert and Hermann says he need to watch Drakenhold for Gilbert.

A small heads up for anyone doing the Drakenhold route but its actually possible to miss out on recruiting its prince. Be very sure to talk to the prince before doing the battle for the capitol.

When marching on the capitol there are two routes you can take. You're supposed to go meet up with Prince Gilbert to the east of the castle, but if you win a skirmish near the gate on the west side of the capitol you can trigger the stage before first talking to Gilbert. If you go this western route then you miss a chain of events triggering Gilbert's character development, and he'll stay behind in Drakenhold. Be sure to specifically talk to Gilbert before doing the stage.

If you miss him do you get Hermann instead?

"Misplaced under the sofa cushions" wouldn't quite fit on the unit select screen.

Apparently the game has leaked and plenty of people end up getting their game before street date. So beware of spoilers.

Little late but yeah, keep an eye out for them.

Apparently there's some controversy of the localisation and I'm not sure why. As you all noticed the dialogue is pretty ye olde English which apparently isn't the case in the Japanese version. The Japanese version doesn't use some old dialogue or long descriptions but is instead short and to the point. And also....kinda dull. Maybe its because I'm not a purist but I can only see it as an improvement.

None Of You Understand What Localisation Is

It’s one of those any changes is bad things. I see no issue with it but some do for some reason.

Of the enemy bosses I think evil Alois from the swamps is my favorite so far. I think they even have the same voice.

Beaumont? I liked Bryce of the rock rats.

I think he's saying that it's specifically the Dragon's Crown devs within Vanillaware. Which checks out, as this game was in some stage of development for roughly 10 years. As someone who actually didn't like Dragon's Crown, they've more than redeemed themselves to me.

Which brings me to my demo impressions. It's excellent. If the demo is reflective of the overall game quality, it's solidly comparable to the top 25% of all Fire Emblems. The gameplay is strong, the soundtrack is great, the art is top tier, the characters are fun, the game is brimming with depth and replay value, and the story is inoffensively fine. No significant complaints.

Think Alain could teach Alear on how not to lose you ring? Or will Alain take a page out of Alear's book?

I had my suspicion because of the artstyle but the liberal use of jiggle physics really sealed the deal. Its the Dragon's Crown devs! I must say the jiggle physics can occasionally get pretty distracting. I noticed the main girl's...uh...girls juggled a lot while walking around, and the default animation of the griffin knight in particular is uh...animated in certain areas.

Just wait until you get Yahna the witch then you'll it's truly is VW.

I mean you can progress through the area without liberating it. You'll just run into enemies.

    I'm pretty sure at least.

So then why would you think it’s considered main?

  12. 4 minutes ago, Armagon said:

Priestess mission is required because you aren't allowed to go to any other region until you do that one.

    Then why is Yahna’s main?

… because it has to be done to go to Elfhiem.

For the same reason BotW/TotK has Main Quests. Yes just like in those games you technically could waltz up to the final boss at any point. You'll actually lose here tho.

Could be, I just find it weird that the only other Main Quest (outside of the increases squad limit, equip an item and buy gear) is The Priestess mission. Not even Adel’s mission.

  14. 45 minutes ago, Armagon said:

Technically you can skip her quest but it makes the Mordon battle harder unless you recruited the other mage.

Then I wonder why her's is a Main Quest instead of a side or libration one?

  15. 1 hour ago, Etrurian emperor said:

One interesting possibility is that cutscenes might change depending on what minor characters you have recruited.

From preview footage these two seem to be the same scene except in one of them the optional witch party member is present and in the other she is not. Of course its also possible the scenes are different and just happen to share the same background and involve the same villain.

Unicorn Overlord rated T for bouncing breasts and more - Niche Gamer

Unicorn Overlord details more characters, classes, combat systems

That is really odd as the mission that gets you Yahna is classified as a Main Quest, meaning you have to get her to progress.

I wonder how the Open World is going to be handled on the Villain's side. On one hand it be extremely annoying if the empire invaded areas you liberated and you need to track back or fast travel half way across the map. On the other hand it be kinda weird if you're freeing the world and the Empire's just sitting on its ass not doing anything about it. FE and Triangle Strategy have the luxery of most of the world not being shown to the world and player, but in Unicorn the entire continent can be traversed through.

So based on how the final fight of the demo goes, the villain doesn’t care what we do. So I don’t see them acting any.

It's a 5 hour timed demo, not based on any specific game chapters. Demo progress carries over to the purchased game.

I'll be trying it this weekend now that it's available on PS5.

Not quite true the demo run the entirety of chapter 1 and ends after the major battle of the chapter. However it still has the 5 hour time limit too.

I put my thoughts in another thread so i'll paste it here as well

I find the class based hard counters to be really nice but also very limiting. Like just in the demo I felt like I couldn’t do anything against Hoplite until I got Yahna. Mostly because the next best option Morton was locked behind a bunch of Hoplites.

  19. 7 minutes ago, Etrurian emperor said:

Huh that's kinda surprising. As I see it the game couldn't have been more like Fire Emblem if it tried.

Well the game is all about preplanning. Since the battles are done in auto with a sort of FF12 gambit system.

i still haven't played the demo, and i don't think i will, but i'm really looking forward to this

it's pretty close to what i'd like modern FE games to look like, so that's a bonus too

I would recommend playing the demo, a lot (at least on gamefaqs) where upset that it wasn’t closer to FE.
