  1. Your best bet might be to find a YouTube walkthrough with good audio quality of the parts you want, download the vid and clip the lines from there.
  2. Thabes endgame or Duma Temple endgame? I dont remember getting much money in the temple. Might've just been unlucky RNG. Hmm, I forgot how different the exp game was. It's like the game wanted you to exploit the DF loop and pitchforks. I did the final chapter twice just to hear all the units' last map dialogue and, funny enough, Mycen (with no training) outshone all of my cavaliers save Lukas. I feel like most of my units got rng screwed cause most of them fell off. Delthea, Saber and Lukas were always consistent for me though. Okay, that is a little late. I still dont understand why Jedah wouldn't also try to sacrifice Alm or at least keep him captive if something goes wrong with Celica. Ah, maybe I should check out the DLC cause I think Fernand's arc did need some polish. I get what you're saying for Faye but my main thing is that her goals (Alm and Ram Village) are on opposite ends of the road and this should force Faye to change or grow but it doesn't. Instead, she tries to get both by moving back to Ram and occasionally abandoning her family to (I assume) visit and fawn over Alm. I do think her crush should have been downplayed a lot cause I find it strange that no one tells Faye her level of attachment to Alm is unhealthy. Which is also kind of my problem with Rinea and Berkut. Like, she's not mad at all he sacrificed her? At least let him apologize before he's forgiven and whisked away to happy ever after. As its written now, Rinea's more of a trope than a character. I did really appreciate Berkut up til the ending though. Conrad is like Gerome? Awakening Gerome? I think Conrad's a little more playful and childlike but I agree, he doesn't hurt anything. He's just kinda there. Kliff and Delthea are favs of mine too! Archer!Kliff sounds really fun actually. And though I have grievances with Faye as a character, she was still a fav unit. I've never had such a bulky healer. Absofuckinglutely. This game is really cruel to low movement units. I'm so glad I pitchforked Lukas to cav. Honestly, I didn't even know player units could get Entrap or Freeze lol. I thought about using Mae to Silence Duma and his magic minions on the last chapter but she never got close enough to try. Anew and Invoke seem like the only non healing white magic that were worth using. Now, this is interesting. Might have to check those Gaiden maps out.
  3. I think both Alm and Celica go. But that kinda eliminates Mycen and maybe Conrad and Clive as well as somebody has to watch over the kingdom. So, with 8 spots remaining: Kliff: I don't think they even need to ask Kliff, his personal travels brought him there and they enter together. Faye: I feel like if Faye so much as hears a rumor that Alm is doing something potentially dangerous that she'd show up and Naga help anyone that tries to stop her. Saber: It's smart to hire help when traveling in unknown lands and Saber proved himself time and time again already that his presence is practically guaranteed. Luthier: If Luthier knows anything about Thabes' history, I can see his personal travels leading him to the labrynth as well. Atlas: Pretty much same as Faye but for Celica, and to a slightly lesser degree. Forsyth/Mathilda: If Clive can't go himself, he'd probs wanna send one of his best. Mathilda has no commitments like Clive does but did retire. Forsyth could go but it's sad to imagine him going without Python. Tobin: I can see him wanting to take care of his family holding him back but I can also see him feeling indebted enough to Alm to go anyway. Zeke: I think this is similar to Kliff and Luthier. His memory of Archanea leads him to Thabes and journeys in with Alm and co out of convenience.
  4. So, I finished SoV yesterday. I didn't own the game at launch but I've been playing off and on for the better part of a year/ year and a half. From what I've read before I bought the game, I went in with very high expectations. Now that I've finally beat the main story, I kinda wanna gush and gripe about the game. Foremost, visually the game is stunning. It's easy to tell a lot of thought and dedication went into giving this game an appealing and cohesive artsyle. The portraits are gorgeous and detailed and the models have vastly improved since Awakening. All of these visual spectacles complement the impressive voice acting performances making SoV probably my favorite FE title aesthetically. Like, getting really nitpicky, the only thing I could think to complain about is that Alm amd Celica's touch screen portraits dont react to when other characters are speaking to them. I'm not gonna talk at length about the story because there's not much to it. It's simplicity is a refreshing break from Fates' convoluted narratives though Berkut's death scene is probably the worst thing I've seen out of the FE franchise. Going off that, I'm glad the developers kept the game fresh by adding characters that do not appear in Gaiden, but like, I wish there was more to them. Besides Berkut, all of the new additions are static (not gonna count Fernand's death revelation as dynamic characterization) and even Berkut's ending doesn't feel earned. And I love Conrad but his character does more for Celica then it does for himself. However, I do think the a lot of the main cast are strong. A lot of the characters (most notably the village boys) grow from their time at war and even in their supports. Speaking of, I think this game comes close to finding a balance between a few, well written supports and many supports that are 'meh' in quality. I feel bad that Slique's only support is Faye, especially since it's more about Faye being dismissive than it is about Silque. I think Lukas could also benefit from another support partner as I think his 'cold, calculated' demeanor could be expanded on. I could also make a case of giving Kliff a support with maybe Luthier or Zeke to expand his horizons. This leads to the characters' endings. I'm gonna be brief and just say I like Kliff's and Delthea's along with Tatiana and Zeke's. I dislike Sonya's and believe that Leon's, Mathilda's, Faye's and the Whitewings' were just bad. I'll elaborate if anyone asks. Now, onto the gameplay. The maps look pretty but the design itself seems rather uninspired besides being based off the originals in Gaiden. And I know I'm gonna get some shit for saying this (I haven't played 4 or 5) but this is the most Movement Emblem game I've played and it's agitating. From Alm's long, open maps to Celica's cramped, terrain infested ones, if you're not using a horse/wings/ Dread Fighter boots you're gonna have a bad time. It's hard to comprehend how a game that balanced archers so well couldn't do the same for Barons and Sages/Priestesses. And this sucks because none of those classes are bad! They're unique in the fact that they benefit the most from shields and rings but they're so incapacitated by 4 movement spaces that the strategy it takes to incorporate them into gameplay is often not worth it, especially when the 7/8/9 movment units can accomplish map goals (all 2 of em) that much faster. However, these 'slower' units have an easier time in the dungeon aspect of the game. The smaller maps and limited unit pool allow normally unfavorable units to shine. I think the dungeon crawling in general is one of the better aspects of SoV and really differentiate it from other FE titles. I mentioned at the beginning that it took me quite a while to beat this game. And I think this is mainly attributed to the gameplay. I often found myself bored and not invested enough to play the game consistently. I wanna partly blame this on the story, but Fates' plot was a lot messier and I just had more fun experimenting with units in FE 14. Maybe I should've played SoV on hard mode but I was initially worried the gameplay would be drastically different than what I wad used to. I also think this game is less strategy and more annoying gimmicks to inflate the difficulty. Conjure/invoke is cheap on both sides and are very rng reliant, along with the teleporting witches. I did have fun playing the game and would still recommend it, but I was pretty underwhelmed with most aspects of the gameplay. Questions: When exactly does Jedah learn Alm has the brand and why does he still focus solely on Celica after the fact if his main goal is to feed Duma a branded soul? Do you think the new characters added or subtracted to the main story? How are you supposed to make money in this game??? There's nowhere near enough gold to max out and create all the weapons, even for a handful of characters. It's a little ridiculous. For those whose favorite or close to favorite FE game is SoV, what draws you to this title? I think it's an enjoyable experience but, personally, I think the replay value is pretty low. What units were most useful to you(or were your favorite)? I heard good things about Mathilda and the Whitewings but most of my cavs fell off late game (my best cav was actually Lukas lol) and my only pegs that made it to endgame were Claire and Catria (and Cat barely got in). If you've played or experienced Gaiden, is SoV a faithful remake? Is there more that could've been done to modernize the game without compromising Gaiden's integrity (like maybe add Anna)? What were some other issues, nitpicky or significant, you had with this game? Lastly, would you still recommend Gaiden to someone if they've already played SoV? Why or why not? Sorry, if this got a little longwinded, I'm excited i finally beat this game and can finally focus on 6 and 11 before Three Houses is released.
  5. Really surprised on the number of people who are okay with a delay of the game. Hopefully, the next trailer will show there's no need for one and give us a solid release date.
  6. My goal is to find a balance and attempt to go out of my comfort zone if a character I like doesn't immediately click with me or if a character I'm neutral towards is fun to play. The reality is that I tend to fall heavily towards favoritism. For example, even if Sonic or Wario perfectly matched my playstyle, I would still never touch them (sans a Shadow recolor/echo fighter for Sonic). Or even if Robin or Bayo felt super awkward to play, I'd still waste far too many hours trying to learn them anyway.
  7. Avatars: I hit the first option, cause I'm not sure about the wording of the middle option. I don't think pandering/being the main character is the problem with Avatars as much as the character/story being poorly written. I think there were some aspects of Corrin that had great potential to make an interesting character but Fates had such a jumbled narrative that all their uniqueness got muddled. I'm quite fond of FE Avatars as they add on to the replay value but I do think it'd be a nice change of pace if IS did something different with Byleth, like make them more of a background unit or even allowed them to die to continue the story. Whatever their contribution to the story, it just needs to be written well. Marriage and Children: I think these should be separated. I think children need to serve an actual story-progressing purpose to be included; otherwise they're too easy to just shoehorn in. Romance, on the other hand, I think always has a place in FE, as different support chains can also add to replay value. I also don't think it's strange to marry in the middle of a war. When any moment could easily be your last, why wait to promise yourself to someone you hold dear? Bringing up a child when either parent could fall is a different story though. I do hope for an end of Avatarsexuals though. Characters that have no support use besides marrying/birthing the child of the player unit is just a waste of a character imo. Gameplay or Story: Both. But also consider, Characters. While gameplay and story are both important. To me, neither really adds up to much without engaging characters to draw me in. Even though I'm not having the greatest time playing Echoes (it's a beautiful game, just not that exciting), I still plan to eventually continue it because I fell in love with the characters, their designs and voices. While I don't recommend sacrificing gameplay or story, I think strong characters can help players overlook aspects of the former two that are lacking. Hope this was helpful and good luck making your game!
  8. I think either of these would work best. With longbows having more might/less accuracy and vice versa for short bows. Or in the case of the latter, they smack the opponent with their bow akin to a healer using a staff for melee. Obviously not as strong as an arrow strike but not totally defenseless either. While archers really need some kind of buff, I also hope this balancing is due to daggers/knives returning and not wanting them to completely overshadow bows.
  9. Not at all, there isn't much to be worried about. Ask me again after the next trailer/info dump. Even then, haven't played an FE game I've hated yet.
  10. CQ: Niles because gay^TM (is there a way to superscript?) BR: Scarlet because she's strong-willed, brutally honest and deserves so much more than the other routes give her. Also dragons. RV: Azura because the game kinda pushes it and I'm not that romantically fond of most of the women of Fates. Also Shigure is great son. (Shout-out to Benny for being mega adorable, good with animals and a genuine great person)
  11. kgrgAs for the trailer, I'm not sure how game developing works but I feel like if Byleth really is an avatar/mu then it'd be easier to finish all the different player builds before adding in the dialogue/animations. I think there's a possibility that there will be a silent protag option but unless are completely gutted, I highly doubt it will be the only option. Yeah, I can't completely see Fire Emblem working with a silent protag I don't think Robin and Corrin were perfect but I think this site in particular isn't a reasonable place to base your opinions on how well-liked the two are. Serenes Forest opinions on things seem to differ from a lot of fans outside of the website (at least from the people I know irl). I agree with a lot of this. I think IntSys could take a lot of aspects from PMD to improve their player characters. I like Robin and Awakening but I think that PMD does a better job of the 'amnesiac that's connected to the end of the world' story. However, I think it's worth noting that you are the center of the plot in those games instead of sharing the spotlight or being a supporter like Kris or Robin. I think it's harder to write multiple personalities for a supporting role when that character isn't the one that the main plot is following. Also, I think there needs to be a more clear distinction between what an avatar is in contrast to a player character. I think expecting IntSys to give us DND/MMORPG immersion from a player character is a tad unfair. I think the past units were more meant to be a lens for us to view the events of a game rather than a complete mirror of ourselves that we play as. Personally, I think of Chrom and Robin as a duo of lords. I don't see Robin as taking anything away from Chrom so much as them complimenting each other well and sharing the spotlight.
  12. A very interesting read! I like your take on what the main conflict will be. Hopefully, some of the confusion with the naming conventions will be cleared up with more lore. I looked into it...I should not have
  13. I saw Hrid last night while trying to orb grind before some banners ended. It was love at first sight. I really hope he's playable. Don't care how. I'd hope he'd be a flyer but I will accept Hrid in any form.
  14. This is a really good take. I hated Severa and wondered how something so nasty could one from perfection like Cordelia. Then I read all of her supports and realized how wrong I was. She really is out here trying her best. I dont want to argue about this because it's obvious we are set in different viewpoints but, it's kinda unfair to compare an anime's depth for 4-5 characters to a game's depth of 40+. Obviously, NGE had an advantage with such a small cast with a lot more visual storytelling. Severa's issues are clearly stated in several supports and you can even see the change in character from Awakening to Fates. Granted, some of it is locked behind DLC, but Severa has definitely grown as a person. To compare Severa and her emotional damage to Peri and her issues teeters on the edge of ludicrous. To the actual topic: -An enemy character I'll love and get to recruit -An enemy character I'll love and not get to recruit because 'loyalty,' they'll get betrayed and killed or both -Dragons -Poorly written gays -Evil old men^tm
  15. They didn't want to think off a way to shoehorn the children into M/M or F/F relationships smh. I love Owain (and Brady!), but if his existence means Lissa and Mariblle cant be happy together then he's gotta go. As for Byleth/Teacher, if they're not the Avatar I will be very, very surprised.
  16. Going off what little information we have, I'm going to guess Sacred Stones or Traditional Linear. From Edelgard's last quote of 'I'll be back, don't forget me,' it doesn't seem like we'll get all three at the start. That or Edelgard's the true villain (which I'm totally here for). I also can't see a Gaiden or Radiant Dawn structure with an avatar all but confirmed for this game. Either the player is taken out of the suspension or disbelief by having the avatar teleport between 3 factions or the dev's have to come up with some tricky restrictions in the order the separate armies can be played. With Fates, I see us A) getting a Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (3 relatively shorter stories to make up a single narrative) story, which I'm not opposed to, but with FE's history of only giving us 1-3 save slots, I doubt it. Or B) 3 (or 4!) full games for an even 'fuller' experience. I really dont wanna buy 4 Switch games. As for the Other Structure, please dont make me have to kill them. Again, unless we get villain! Edelgard, and even then, I might like that concept to much to stop her. As off now, I can really only see a SS or Traditional Linear Structure working. I like surprises though. Well written surprises.
  17. I want more well developed shape-shifters. Preferably more than one per story. Oh, and Summoners. And Dragons. Dragon shifters? Dragon riders? Dragons.
  18. Even though, Pokemon Let's Go! is stated by the developers to be a "core series" game. I myself am hesitant to call it a part of Gen 7 or to say it's actually more than a glorified Kanto spin-off (not that that's a bad thing). I'd have the same thoughts toward a simplified FE. Just like TMS, Heroes and Warriors aren't considered FE 15/17/118, I wouldn't consider this type of Fire Emblem to be a main entry in the series. Basically this. Separate enough from the main titles that it doesn't hinder the development of core Fire Emblem but still adds something fresh and interesting to people who haven't played the older games. I'd be really interested if they were able to integrate multiplayer into an FE spin-off like they're doing in Pokemon Let's Go!
  19. Huh...now that I think about it, there were only 7-10 1st-gen non-royals/royal-related characters in Fates. I'm hoping for a little more diversity but if they use the fact that all these characters have common grounds to incite tension, character growth or even plot I wouldn't mind that much as long as we have at least a few outliers.
  20. Since the trailer dropped, it looks like there's more than likely we're gonna have a new Avatar. But it seems like there's more focus on the other main characters and we're not getting another Corrin so I'm pretty optimistic for Byleth. Hopefully they found a happy medium between Mark and Robin for the Avatar's plot importance. And this is totally and completely biased, but after that trailer, I want S-Supports solely so I can marry Claude. (There are other reasons I'm fond of S-Supports but damn if Claude steal my heart.) Hopefully, there are no Avatar-sexuals or children. S-Supports don't need those.
