  1. You aren't stupid, it's a tactics game the fun is thinking through it As for FE8 yeah that kind of applies to the characters too, I like FE6 gameplay wise I haven't played telius either, supposedly they're like weirdly hard but i think i might try the first few maps and see what I think The 3ds games are really well balanced as though the game play follows this rhythm and it can get really immersive when you really start thinking like a tactician Also i call it contemporary mostle because of 3 houses
  2. Sacred Stones isn't breathtaking and it has very hammy vaguely medieval dialogue but many characters are very interesting and drive the story forward. and yeah, the writing staff of fe6 pretty much said that it was trying to elaborate on marths story in Shadow Dragon and there's also a rumor some elements were recycled elements from the canceled N64 game, the plot is a slightly more in depth version of marths story with similar characters, as foor Jugdral, i'm suprised you'd rank it lower than the original nes game, but i'm sure you have good reason, how do you feel about Tear Ring/Emblem Saga?
  3. A guy can dream, also is that a Robert Fripp quote? from King Crimson? that's pretty cool
  4. Fire Emblem:Bloodlines is amazing! you can play as a pupper! Do you think Ghast will ever finish it?
  5. Oh dude I totallly feel you, the balance of polish and . style is just right
  6. Is it the old school Shozo Kaga stuff? (so intricate) The GBA games? (Classic stories and cool sprite art) The Radiant Series? (The 3D transition and diverity of gameplay) The contemporary games? (Accessibility and style)
  7. Both stats wise as well as economically, Nergal is on par with some of the most powerful figures in the game, he can pose a threat to a fully trained team of units on his own for fucks sake
  8. I really love being part of this community, at first I was apprehensive, but I feel as though i've been welcomed with open arms by some really interesting people, i love this community, thanks everybody!
  9. You talk about this game like you really enjoy it and like it's pretty good it's just inconsistent in some aspects, it sounds interesting, and i do enjoy the support systems it's like the perfect solution you know? Too many characters to give proper screen time? not enough time or space for proper characterization? have the player dedicate time to characterizaton, let the audience decide the proper time to develop a character, it's a real good idea from a design perspective you know
  10. I suppose it's a bit like Awakening and sacred stones where the plot itself is contrived and weird, but it makes up for it with decent character writing?
  11. on a similar note, zI love in games like Borderlands or fallout how you level up and your gun itself does more damage like maybe in fantasy rpgs, you can argue they are getting better, learning new techniques, it's a skill and an art form but with a gun, shooting someone in the head is gonna have the same effect either way, it's a gun, it's the same at level 1 and level 100, bullets don't become more effective if your quote "Skill improves" your aim can get better I guess and you get used to the recoil but it's just kinda silly
  12. Hi guys I'm Sam I'm newish here, I'm a poet, writer and composer, I'm 17, and this is my favorite gaming franchise! I've also got kind of bad social aniety and stuff so I hope i don't get trolled!
  13. so i've been trying to figure out the "Find cheats" feature on VBA, and I'm using sealed sword but i can't widdle it down because I'm an idiot
  14. i have it liked on youtube already, i love stuff like this, you're pretty cool man
  15. Alexander the great started in his teens, but it does kinda scream adolescent power fantasy
  16. i wonder if there are any nods to celtic and gaelic culture in fire emblem? the elibe games have a lot of stuff from french folklore and the saga of roland, the revenants are a lot like the Fear gorta, there are pegasi, medusas, from greece and griffons wyverns serpents, the Laguz are like the Nagual kinda?
  17. they're almost a mix of roman culture and that of the barbarians who conquered rome, I dunno
  18. i'm not sure, it's like a mix of rome, carthage and all the "Barbarian" tribes that eventually conquered the romans, it's a really cool culture
  19. huh i always thought norway but maybe they're like the normans?
  20. I think if I had to rank the protagonists: 12.Marth (OG): he's kind of a generic rpg protagonist in the original interpretation but it feels almost unfair to pass judgment on him, famicom games had to limit dialogue 11.Ephraim: He's a good commander but not very complex beyond that, i didn't find him nearly as endearing as his sister 10.Sigurd: same problem as Marth but at least his romantic arc is more flushed out 9.Robin: The problem with making avatars for players to project themselves onto is they lack distinct personas which ironically makes it harder to act vicariously through them 8.Seliph; a bit more interesting than his dad, partially because of him 7.Eliwood: Meh, generic anime hero 6.Chrom: I feel as though there was a lot of unexplored potential with him 5.Roy:I recently discussed this in detail on this site and concluded: Roy's OK 4.Hector: I don't like the brash, "Young Lion" tough guy archetype 3.Eireka: shes very emotional, to the point of being kind of pedantic, I think if she was developed more as a character, we could get a better sense of her character, we know she's e,pathetic and desires to subvert the expectations of others and grow stronger, that's cool 2.Lucina: The supports save her, naive, yet fiercly independent, a dichotomy of a character 1.Lyn: I think at her core, Lyn exists torn between two cultures and two ideas of self, she seeks familly, belonging peace, she probably has the most clearly defined motivations of any if the characters I've listed
  21. I was hoping someone would say the "Message from lord Nergal" dude, that meme is the worst
