  1. @TrumpetZorua Hi, sorry for responding a bit late! Let me address your points in order: 1) Yeah, the position of the MU was an accident and was fixed in the newer version (which I forgot to add the new link to in here, oof.) 2) I recently removed the Day/Night system due to many issues and player difficulty, basically making it so you have as many turns to do stuff (events still happen on certain turns though!) 3) Which village did you visit? If you could specify, that'd help a lot! 4) The EXP is supposed to be like that in the early chapters since theres a lot of enemies you can fight and it's still very early! 5) The growth rates are low because the way GRs work in the game is that the character's personal growth rates are added to the class' growth rates! 6) I'll make sure to move Cyrus in the next update! Thank you so much for your feedback! 😄

  2. What is Fire Emblem: Dawn of Dusk?

Fire Emblem: Dawn of Dusk is an FE8 rom-hack I've been working on for the past couple of months.

It's heavily influenced by FE4, from the graphics to the gameplay!

If you're interested in helping, DM me on Twitter! (Link below)

    Story

February 27th, Year 891, Belmisian Calender

The dukedom of Fals is destroyed by unknown invaders.

The Duke and his family are thought to be dead, except, unknown to all the denizens of Belmise, one survived.

Clovis von Fals, son of Duke Vidar von Fals, runs in the dark night,

hoping to reach his cousin's duchy to seek aid.

In a nearby village, a seer and their band of allies awake to find

a royal-looking man fighting against an army.

Coming here due to a vision, they believe they've

    finally found the one they're looking for;

the one who will help change the future.

    Features

    • Dismounting/Mounting: With mounted units, you can make them dismount from their mounts! This can get rid of their weaknesses while adding new ones!
    • Avatar (Shilo): You can play as yourself (if you wish) in the game! The avatar's portrait is made to be gender neutral so you can decide who you are! You can input your own name*, or go with the generic name, Shilo.
    • Skills: Like most modern FE games, there are skills! Each unit gets a personal skill and each class has their own too!
    • New and Old Classes: Many older classes return in this game, most of them from Genealogy of the Holy War! There are also newer ones and three-tiered promotions!

I came out to my mom and dad one day about 11 years ago when I was 12 or so I believe? I honestly didn't have a lot of issues accepting my bisexuality and I knew it wouldn't be an issue but i was like "I mean. I HAVE to come out right? That's what you do?" So I did. Dad takes me on a walk because he wants to talk about it and reveals that he's actually bisexual as well.

Years later, my parents are divorced but my dad is happily married to another man. : ) It's never too late for love. I know this is more of his story of coming out to me than mine of coming out to him, but his perspective felt a little more valuable to tell than mine haha.

    aww. thats nice!

This was years ago already. Took it in as a life experience and turned it into something positive; what else can ya do?

Now I'm a civil rights attorney, and I sue people for unlawful harassment/discrimination on the basis of things like race and sexual orientation. (take a wild guess what motivated me to go down that life-path)

We need more people like you in the world! Thank you for your services~

Straight. Never had the whole LGBTQ "coming out" experience per-se. I had something else that made me particularly sympathetic to the struggle though--a moment of solidarity, if you will.

So I may or may not have mentioned this at some point in earlier threads--but I was raised in a very conservative Jewish family. Conservative politics. Conservative religiosity. Conservative attitudes on dating, sex, homosexuality, marriage...  (which I for a while just sorta parroted without really questioning. Its what kids do)

    ...anyways...

Part of the "family values" I was evidently supposed to have been instilled with by way of this upbringing was "white jewish boys belong with white jewish girls," which never really resonated with me and which I disregarded completely the moment I started dating.

...this was tolerated (but frowned upon) when my first girlfriend was catholic--but hey--at least she was still white. It was the butt of jokes at holiday dinners. My parents got shit that they had raised a "Goy Boy." I got barbs to the effect of "what--are you gonna be decorating Christmas trees now?" and increasingly aggressive reminders that we had still-living Holocaust survivors in the family.

But again--white girlfriend. Very white girlfriend. Blonde-haired, blue-eyed, German-sounding-last-name white girlfriend. Frowned upon, but tolerated.

My second girlfriend was black. Thats when everything boiled over.

I was not on speaking terms with my parents for about 2 years--we had a pretty ugly falling-out at the start of that relationship. They forbid it. "How could you think this is okay--this isn't how we raised you," or some such nonsense. I refused to break it off. Things--escalated.

As far as they were concerned, I was a wayward degenerate.
As far as I was concerned, they were backwards-thinking old racists.

I had a "coming out" moment of sorts where I basically had to tell them there faith was not my faith and their beliefs were not my beliefs and I would never be romantically compatible with someone who believed what they believed; I was never going to be the son who settled down with a "nice Jewish girl."

    They didn't take it well.

    _______

The relationship ended. Cooler heads prevailed. Me and my family reconciled, they accepted that I am who I am and I accepted that they are who they are and we moved past it.

Took a while to get there and it was a rough road.

What stood out to me throughout that whole experience is that there is no feeling worse in the world than being in love with someone (love is a beautiful thing) and having people who you thought loved you unconditionally hate you for it--for what??? Because some nonsensical, bullshit, old-world prejudices and superstitions put it in their head that your love is wrong???

    Its the worst.

I don't think its any coincidence that at the same time I was going through this, I found myself increasingly interested in LGBT-advocacy + getting involved with gay-straight alliance causes and projects.  Obvious parallels are obvious.

There was a point later on down the line after everything had blown over where, just out of curiosity, I asked my dad: what would you have done if I had told you I was gay?

His answer was literally: As long as your boyfriend was a Silverman or a Goldberg, I think we could have accepted it. But you. You always pushed the envelope. You would have had to bring home a Tyrone or a Jamaal.

    ...
    I think he was serious...

Wouldn't it be nice if it was always that easy

Man, thank you for sharing this. I hope everything is okay for you now. Must've been tough...

Should this be in Serious Discussion? Just wanted to make sure.

I mean, it's a natural thing that some people do. I could see why it might go there but there's mostly violence related stuff there, and I don't want "coming out" to be related with that...

I'm afraid I can't really offer much in the way of actual assistance (I've got no romhacking/spriting/arting experience), but its always good to see more people out there working away.

The story and characters seem interesting enough, to the extent they're provided so far. Simple, but classic. I hope you'll be able to do good things with them. The screenshots, well, they look like FE screenshots. Not really much else to say about them, other than I'm always happy to see more magic Lords/MCs, and interesting to see he uses the pupil sprite (I think).

As a side note, you might want to consider listing in your first post any existing patches that you're using and other added features like that. With the HP bars on the map, I assume its not just new maps and story but also some new (to SS, not to romhacks) features, and its (probably) important to let people know both what is going in and who helped develop these additional patches. Unless you're developing all the enhancements yourself/within your team, in which case, good on you.

Best of luck with your project!

Ah, thank you! I’ll make sure to do that~

  8. Hi, my name is Byliyth!

Fire Emblem: The Tempest War (working title) is a FE8 rom hack and my first attempt at rom hacking.

The game revolves around multiple conflicts in the country of Valysia and the struggle people go through to try and resolve them.

The team is small, so if you wish to help, feel free to DM me!

    Plot

    Spoiler

The setting is the year 781 within the continent of Valysia. You play as Russ, a young man living near the border of the country Zethus, who escaped his village with his sister as it burned down thanks to soldiers from Amphion, a nearby kingdom. After escaping to the capitol of Zethus, Russ and Holly turn into beggers, asking others for money. Zachary, a commander for Zethus' army, finds them and offers Russ a job as a soldier in exchange for food and a place to sleep for him and Holly. Meanwhile, the princess of Zethus, Belle, fights for her life as she tries to protect herself from those who know her secret...

    Spoiler

    Russ

When Russ’ hometown gets destroyed by soldiers from Amphion, a country south of Zethus, he barely escapes, taking his sister, Holly, with him as they fled into the capital. They lived on the streets, panhandling, since they didn’t take any money with them. Eventually, a knight from the army of Zethus, Zachary, offered to train Russ so he could join the army. He agrees since he has to take care of not only himself, but Holly as well. Russ is devoted to protecting Holly and his friends. He tries to be optimistic and charming, though when he tries flirting, it may lead to awkward moments.

    Holly

Holly is a young girl you loves her brother dearly. She dislikes how Russ fights and feels bad that he needs to be a soldier in order for him to take care of them. For some reason, she can't remember her childhood...

    Zachary

The youngest commander for the Zethian army, the ostensible reason Zachary fights is for his country, but in reality he fights to find his parents who left him at a orphanage as a child. He's a strong person, both physically and mentally, and likes to cook, especially for others.

    Belle

Belle's mother died giving birth to her, while her father from a genetic disease. Fearful that she, too, would get this genetic disease, she was pressured into being experimented on and was given the blood of the divine dragon Nagi. Though she tries to keep it a secret from her people, rumors have begun spreading of what she really is...

Yeah you are right. Guess i just still feel too emotional about mine then.

It's okay, it's a big thing. Remember, you don't have to say yours, you're still valid either way!~

  10. Recently, I came out to most of my family through the good ol' "Go to Disneyworld and just tell em' on a ride," with it ending pretty well, and now it's got me thinking about how others have come out.  There are so many brave people who've done this and I'm just interested in other's experiences.

(p.s. If you haven't come out yet, you're still valid and I'm here to support ya)

There’s a reason the Orca, who is actually a dolphin, is called the killer whale.

Let me make this even worse.

Ever hear of stories of swimmers or divers  that claim they were held and transported to the surface with the aid of a dolphin? Well, one of the methods the dolphins use to force a female to have sex is by pushing them out of the water to make them dehydrate. Try to connect the dots and let that sink in.

I see why you're called the Water Mage now... qwq

  12. As @Von Ithipathachai said, the pixel difference makes it look very odd. I suggest making the pixels smaller, like to the size of the sword, so you could add more detail and give it a proper balance. Another thing is perhaps use a darker gray on the armour as opposed to just black.

While not my favorite animal, dolphins fascinate me...not that particulary like those sort of things, but it amazes that people think dolphins are kind creatures.

The incredible cruelty of dolphins is scary, the kill for fun, they gang rape, beat up females to force sex and there’s footage of them being sexually agressive towards humans swimmers.

Moving from the subject of cruelty, dolphins are some of the fews animals know to have sex for pleasure, they masturbate, they often engage in homosexual relationships and back on the cruelty subject, male dolphins are know to sexually assault other male dolphins to assert dominance. Dolphins also seem capable of consciously committing suicide.

How did dolphins get their reputation of being friendly and kind creatures? It’s as puzzling as how the owl is associated with intelligence when it’s actually one of the dumbest birds species.

Jeez, thats pretty messed up. Guess I learned something new today?

I like anything in the horse family the most. Horses, ponies, zebras, donkeys, you name it! I've just always thought they were the coolest and prettiest animals ever. We humans relied on them for transportation and stuff for years, and even today we still ride them and keep them as pets sometimes.

Horses are really rad! Bird Box taught me that horses can sense when they're pregnant and completely change how they live and that's super cool.

    Pangolins.

They are armoured and can roll up similarly to armadillos, have great abilities to dig and climb trees and despite their wonky legs can get around and survive just fine. Absolutely my favourite.

If I were a supervillain I'd get one of these as the exotic pet. I mean, sure there's no way to feed off my enemies to my pet, but that's a bad idea anyway.

Pangolins are the final boss of Three Houses. They're just armored units!

Also Capybara are really cute too, but I'd also be scared by them irl...
