  1. There's Allen & Lance, though their large movement differences would make it annoying to keep them together with Roy.
  2. Have you ever wondered what the maximum possible asset score (gold + weapon value) for Lyn mode is? No? Well I did. (Hint: It's more than double the S rank fund requirement). Most FEs have arenas where you can grind for money, however as Lyn mode does not, the max possible money is finite. Lyn mode also has a lot of unique quirks that makes maximising value an interesting challenge. If you're interested in a run where Dorcas is one of the most useful units, this is for you. I made a demonstration run for this challenge. do note that I am making heavy use of glitches. Part 1 video below (up to ch7), part 2 should be out when I bother to fix a mistake I made at one point.
  3. Accuracy is not even a big deal. unlike axes, magic has good hit rate (fire is tied for most accurate weapon in the game), she has a super fast roy support (+5 hit each level) and you get a secret book that no one else really needs in her join chapter. and the most of the enemies she is attacking during the grinding phase are slow fighters weighed down by steel axes. and you don't need to double if you can one shot 😉 . there is absolutely no way lilina reaches A rank staff lol.
  4. He never talks about FE on his blog and Nintendo has pretty much unpersoned him. He's probably worried about potential legal troubles.
  5. I don't understand, is this just raising everyone to max stats? that's going to take a lot of RNG abuse lol. Kind of arbitrary including MOV but not CON as well though, if you're going to do it, might as well go all the way with it. and the JP version of FE8 sells stat boosters (no boots, body rings or talismans (talismen?) though) in the secret shop so, in addition to better growths and small cast, doing this kind of challenge there might actually be feasible. (although there's only 2 arenas per route so you might have to do skirmishes.)
  6. huh, you're right, never realised how few chapters he gets. Probably because there's a lot of combat in those last chapters and a lot fewer seize chapters you have to drag him through beforehand. Though his growths are almost the same as Roy's. Just +5% Str, Def, Res and -15% luck. He seems like he was designed to fill a similar role.
  7. Cool. May I recommend doing JP manuals first as they are usually a pain to find and having them in a centralised place would be great. Strategy guides would be nice too if you can find them.
  8. Yeah, but really, Eliwood and Leaf do the weaker lord concept much better, as they are not a complete burden and they promote at reasonable (if slightly late) times. (and they have much better designs and characterisation imo). Is he? I thought Marth is more popular since a lot more people use him competitively and Roy is yet another of the stupid lazy clone characters they always make. And the main reason we got FE in the first place was Advance Wars (RIP) sold rather well. Roy's supposed popularity is tangential at best, they never bothered to translate his game or keep him for Brawl after all (though I say this as someone who started with FE10 because I liked Ike in Brawl so excuse the hypocrisy.)
  9. Speaking of hypothetical boss translations, the only really interesting one would be Muhammad. Although it is common as a given name, I don't think they will want to deal with the can of worms that name brings with it. Ahmed maybe? or maybe not, they might think dumb-dumbs will confuse him with Amid.
  10. Ike is also popular because he is a great unit. If anyone is popular only because of smash, it's Roy. He is useless in his home game.
  11. Please use numbered games next time, your title hurts to read lol. Shizas (or Shiizas for the pedants) sounds most reasonable to me. which means they will go with something stupid like Caezath or Simon. Or they can go the maximum lazy route and call him Berkut
  12. I was also thinking of FE5 when I said it. Thanks to stuff like fatigue, dismounting, and low universal caps (all good balancing stuff that were annoyingly removed in later games) almost the entire cast will be rotated around on a regular basis, with only a handful of shitters permabenched (like ronan, selphina's subordinates, miranda, etc).
  13. The two games where 75% of the huge cast is useless and will be warming the bench for the rest of the game after their single appearance are the most balanced?
  14. FE1 has like 100 lines of text, maybe less. no way they will bother with later games. Gaiden maybe as a best case scenario.
  15. Oh yeah you're right my mistake, I never used him either lol. And his hair is darker then i remember so I guess he could be from Isaac. Shiva has messy hair like a lot of the Isaacians in fe5 (he looks like Galzus' long lost son lol). And he wears the classic swordmaster long robe like Shanan does. where else could he possibly be from? Machua (Machyua?, Macha? ...Mature? what a weird name) is an odd one though. Her hair is neater I guess, and does it say she specifically lives in Manster or is she just working as a mercenary with the Magi?
  16. Trude promotes to mercenary and has white hair, definately not from Isaac. But Shiva is definately from Isaac (look at the hair!) and he promotes to swordmaster. actually, now i find it pretty hilarious that the only two swordmasters not from Isaac (Eyvel and Shanam) are both frauds.
  17. same way you create the new shop event, extend the list to the amount of required entries.
  18. perhaps the difference is just extra frames? I notice a lot of custom classes in rom hacks have a similar style and i just hate it lol.
  19. Create a new shop event for the chapter, click items sold and it will prompt you to create new shop data. click yes and then edit the contents, then write to rom.
  20. I don't know what it is, but there's is something about the animations of the new classes in this game that just looks really bad. Rogue and the trainee classes look especially awful. Even clones like the bow knight and mage knight somehow end up looking worse. The only ones I like are the monsters (except gorgon and cyclops) and Ephraim's classes. Am I the only one that feels this way?
  21. Ah, yes you're right my mistake. Still, 53 hit is worth the gamble. and i think i might have underestimated the levels, even me who likes to spread the love to everyone had something like a lvl 12 deke. the stat difference should be minor though. And there's no reason you can't use both mages for a while and drop one of them mid game. Enemies have pathetic res, and you already have plenty of mediocre physical units to pick from.
  22. So what? fire tomes have 30 uses, are cheap, and can be bought in the prep screen. and those tier lists are based on the whole game (and the arbitrary goal of low turn counts). For this specific situation, they are your best and safest options.
  23. it's 15 total def vs 8 total res, magic is the way to go. he has 63 avoid, barely anything is super accurate against him. some quick calculations, levels may be higher at this point. I've never played hard mode, so I assume the serenes stats page is correct: deke lvl10: 11 str, 14 skl, 6 luck = 5dmg, 51 hit, 30 crit (killing edge) rutger lvl10: 17 skl, 5 luck, 18 spd = x2 10 dmg, 46 hit (light sword) lugh lvl10: 7 mag, 9 skl, 8 luck = 4 dmg, 58 hit (fire) lilina lvl5: 8 mag, 5 skl, 6 luck, C Roy = 6 dmg, 58 hit (fire) it's pretty simple: deke waits in front of boss, boss attacks deke, deke heals, ranged people attack with magic, ponies and roy rescue drop range attackers, boss attacks deke, repeat. though it's a bit coin flippy, so it could take anywhere from 2-5 turns really. promoting one of them would really help. and i guess deke faces a negligible 3% crit chance.
  24. I don't see what the problem is. You have two mages to chuck magic at him, and this chapter is pretty much designed to grind up Lilina, so just lead with someone with a killing edge then have her nuke him with Roy nearby, with Lugh doing some light chipping as well. and i believe the light sword always does 10 damage at range, so you can even have rutger chuck light magic as well. then just rescue drop them out of danger and repeat.
  25. I believe this site used to host manuals before but they seem to be gone. I remember finding a webarchive link but I don't remember the url.
