  1. The solution is bring back Phoenix Mode! Casual mode and rewinds are just half assing it. If you're going to add scrub features, go all the way!
  2. Nope. Even if he survives it still happens. (and in testing that, I noticed enemies can trade for weapons. pretty cool.)
  3. Was messing around when I found this weird bug. It seems to happen if you berserk the southern dark mage. Anyone idea why this happens?
  4. It actually reads "Miiru", which is why I said probably. It could also translate as "mir", which is "peace" in various Slavic languages, though I highly doubt that's what they were going for lol. Keep in mind that they are not native English speakers, so i could see them reading Mire as 'Meer' or 'Mi-re'. This is all speculation by me though so take it with a grain of salt.
  5. In Japanese, flux is call ミィル, which probably translates to mire. (Mire is called slime in jap fyi.)
  6. In the middle of a first playthrough and i'm loving it... except for the stupid 1RN hit. This game has made me absolutely loathe it. If I miss another 3 80% hits in a row or get hit by yet another 20% ballista I'm going to yell. Everything else though (well, maybe not healing staves missing) is great, and it's baffling that most of these mechanics haven't been brought back. I blame it's bizarre release date.
  7. you're welcome. In the future, it might be better to ask more technical questions on FE Universe, as they are much more knowledgeable about the inner workings of the games.
  8. 1. Open the ROM in FEBuilder 2. Go to Tools > Patches 3. Find the control enemy patch 4. Change the drop down to "control enemy" 5. Write to ROM 6. Save the ROM Your ROM will now have all phases player controlled.
  9. Actually nevermind, I'm an idiot. There's already a simple way to do this. https://feuniverse.us/t/control-enemy-npc-units-fe8/1897 FEBuilder also includes this as a patch you can apply that allows you to control enemy and npc units.
  10. I made a quick video demonstrating a way to use it. This way might skip turn events like throne healing though. I might make a more detailed video at some point with a better method if i find one.
  11. Assuming my maths is correct (probably not lol) and the listed growths are accurate, it would be a ~0.006% chance. Unlikely, but not absurdly so. Awakening characters have really high growth rates so it's not that surprising.
  12. You can do this by modifying the level address. For FE8, Open the cheat list and add code 0202BCFE:xxyy. replace xx with phase and yy with the chapter code. So for example, if you're in chapter 6 and you want enemy phase, the code would be 0202BCFE:8007. Activate it during player phase and you can control enemy units. Just make sure you turn it off before you end the turn otherwise you will have infinite ai controlled enemy phases. You could also use it as a level select code, but in FE8 going to a later chapter crashes the game. FE6 and FE7 you can skip wherever you want though. FE6 and FE7 work similarly, though the memory address and chapter codes are different. I don't remember what theirs are, see if you can figure those ones out for yourself ;) (hint: 2 byte, hex, RAM search is your friend) Perhaps there's an easier way, but that's what I use.
  13. If you don't believe me, do a phoenix mode run and check. it's there for a reason :p. Another thing i just learned from it is that enemy shield gauges don't raise in this mode (or does this also happen on normal classic?) I guess add that as an unpopular opinion. Phoenix mode needs to come back. its useful for checking stuff like this, and support and skill grinding if that's you're thing. It's a god mode cheat except you don't have to fiddle with the rom, its conveniently built in. and if you're going to make a scrub mode, go all the way. casual is half assing it.
  14. It most certainly does not. In conquest, there are a total of 24 chests in the main story. the number of chest keys you get is 3! 1 in chapter 9, 1 in 14, and 1 in 20. I don't remember if there are enemy thieves going for the treasure, but if you're not using a thief (like during a challenge run or something) say goodbye to most of the treasure. The other routes are much more generous with keys though.
  15. Did everyone forget you can capture units in FE14? you can have an entire army of archers in conquest if you want, even some with cool skills like counter and poison strike.
  16. Yeah, those ones where they change a perfectly fine name are especially infuriating. He's not Brad, he's Aran! (we don't already have like 3 of those already!), she's not Stella, she's Astrid! (despite no one else with a norse name around), he's not Harold, he's yet another Arthur! (despite Harold sounding like a perfectly heroic name). I get changing names that are incomprehensible (like whatever the hell ソーンバルケ is supposed to be), but the above changes are just dumb.
  17. I decided to do test it out myself. Turns out it does occur at the end, after crit or assassination. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier lol. I'd assume FE8 skills work in a similar way right?
  18. Yes I know that, but when does it roll this RN?
  19. I believe the RNs for a normal attack work something like this (for FE7 at least) 2RN hit if the attack hits: 1RN crit If crit 1RN assasination attempt The calculation for a devil axe backfire is 31-Luck%, but when and how is this determined?
  20. Forging (except for, ironically, FE14 forging), reclassing, and FE13 pair up are all horrible mechanics and I always avoid using them. Birthright is literally a better awakening in every single way that it pretty much obsoletes it completely. Forced dismounting needs to return. Mounts need a hard nerf. Though give them their primary weapon instead of sword locking them. Lyn mode is not that bad. You can beat it in an hour if it really bothers you. I like the occasional fog map. Shame they've almost completely disappeared. Too much discussion and lists are based around "efficiency" (read: LTC - 1 or 2 turns), even though half of the games have an actual ranking system with turns a small part of it, and the games are single player ROLE PLAYING games. I don't understand why people need to take new "official" names as gospel. Do fan discussions and translations really have to match up with the translations some guy (who had no involvement in the development of the original game(s)) made for a glorified slot machine? Keep in mind, FE translators, in their infinite wisdom, gave us such gems as Ced, Raquesis, Caeda, a hard mode called normal, and three Art(h)urs. I personally use names pretty interchangeably.
  21. Shadow Dragon's one was the best, really forced you to make a painful choice. Shame it's in the prologue, the only narratively interesting part of the game. I believe they originally wanted Jagen to die at some point in the original game but they decided against it. Honestly, killing the Jagen would work great for a FE game. Kick the crutch from under the player and see if they can walk. Great way to make an impact on the player, both in story and gameplay. Langrisser 1 did this quite well imo. I guess they sort of did that with Gunter but that happened way too early and he wasn't that useful in the first place.
  22. Every time I play RD, I just have to use Eddie. I can't help it. wrath is a ton of fun early (and really helps his damage output if you're careful), and he gets a unique weapon and cool coat later! Even on my last playthrough where I didn't take him to the tower, he still came 3rd in kills lol
  23. I generally found conquest to be better than expected, but I can't see myself playing it again, well at least not any time soon, thanks to the wind map. (well that and the idiot plot lol). I loathe this piece of shit chapter, pretty much for all the reasons said so far. I will add that chests actually have good stuff in them so you can't just ignore them, and as usual the enemies don't play by the rules and are completely unaffected by normal wind. In fact ch. 18-20 were all pretty crappy, but at least it gets much better after that, except for the also terrible ch 27 which you are forced to slog through if you mess up the endgame. Funnily enough, I actually did not mind the revelations version that much. Maybe because it was done very early in the game and the enemies are not as strong, so the wind sending you wherever the hell it wants is not so infuriating.
