  1. Goddamn. I was honestly surprised there wasn’t a forum like this before in the fandom. Oh well. Some things: 1) People arguing that Mozu is a good unit. I honestly don’t know if this can be counted as a “little” thing, but nonetheless, it drives me insane. 2) Armored unit animations. I believe the pinnacle of these were in the GBA games, and then from there on it started getting worse. Other animations were OK, but I could never get over the utterly bizzare animations in Awakening. The armor units do a fucking belly slide or something. (I don’t recall what Fates or Echoes had) 3) Ambush Spawns. Obviously. 4) Every time you put a swordmaster into an arena and got a General as an opponent. I recall one particularly awful case- I was doing a “troll” run of FE8 and I sent Joshua into an arena in the chapter where you recruit Marisa, and got a general. Joshua did 1 damage per shot. The general had 42 HP or something. That kinda sucked. Yeah, that’s mostly bad luck but, whatever.
  2. I will get neither, as frankly Sword and Shield is terrible. I don't understand the hype surrounding Sword and Shield. The story, the antagonists, everything about the game, is just so stupid. Pokemon is on a decline ever since Sun and Moon, which is really disappointing, because Pokemon is still in my top 3 of favorite game series. They removed everything good about the game. Mega evolutions? Nah... Humongous Pokemon? Yeah! I know. I've been playing Pokemon since original Red and Blue. For us older fans, this game has been nothing short of disappointment so far. Also, the regional Pokemon look hideous. Also, to make fun of Game Freak, "improved Graphics." Yeah right. They removed everything good to have "improved graphics" that are still worse than BOTW's.
  3. Hi all. As the the title indicates, this is about overrated characters, which in turn goes hand in hand with one of my other topics, that I won't link because I'm lazy, also I don't want to be promoting my stuff. May seem stupid, and it probably is, but whatever. Anyways, when looking at tier lists for FE games, the general consensus is that there are "good" and "bad" characters, and others in between or other outliers, etc. After I finish a FE game, I look at the tier lists to see if what the "pros" say match up to mine. And, it almost never does. In this case, overrated characters. A basic definition of an overrated character is one that is proclaimed good by many people, but you find him/her/it to be... Not what was on paper. A good example for me was Boyd in PoR (And please, disagree with me). He was too slow, easily outclassed by other mounted units (that, conveniently, also wielded axes), and all around not very useful. Yet, he consistently placed (on the tier lists I looked at) at a High A or low A, and I think it's BS. Oh well, that's me. Anyways, I have nothing more to say. I'm always interested to hear opinions on the fandom, so, what are your overrated characters? Have at it.
  4. It's most definitely possible. If you want a hint: Yeah. If you read the hint, just know that it's technically better to rush than bunker up, because bunkering up on, let's say, the starting ship, you will lose a unit, technically. While, if you rush, you have more room to maneuver. Again, this is all technically speaking.
  5. Because teleportation is convenient to the plot. It also represents some potential fallacies in the story, if the devs have to use teleportation to further a plot. It's also annoying and stupid, at least most of the time. A little off topic, but I hate it in Fog of War, the enemies move around normally and can see you perfectly. I guess this may have a little bit to do with teleportation??? Idk.
  6. Well, I just went back to one of my Binding Blade save files just to address this. As a level 20/5 Sage, my Lilina has 31 HP and 5 Def, which is nearly identical to the average stats. This is chapter 16x. Again, nothing too out of the ordinary. I also have to comment on that 27 magic. Jeez. Typical axe users (as the game progresses) will deal at least 20+ damage to her if they connect. She does have 17 res to stave off those pesky magic users(again, nearly identical to average stats), but melee weapon users are more common in FE6. She also gets outspeed by some Mercs and Heroes (which will deal 17x2 typically). Promoted units nearly one round her (take enemy Garret as an example- on my Lilina he nearly kills her with an Iron Axe). Comparing her to Clarine: While Clarine may share similar defenses, she makes up for it with absolutely absurd speed, skill, and luck, enabling her to dodge just about everything and avoid being doubled, like, forever. Lilina doesn't share that, unfortunately. Just saying, she's hard to keep alive. A little bad luck and she's dead. To clarify: this isn't really a detriment to me, or you. I just feel like I need to state the reasons as for why Lilina isn't considered a good unit typically, in efficiency runs, etc. It's always good to present both sides of the issue.
  7. Welcome! Hope you enjoy your time here in the Fandom. Just a warning: If you say anything stupid in the forum while being deemedserious, you will be jumped on. The people here are savage. Including me. Only kidding, of course! Again, welcome, and I hope you can expand your FE horizons here. (And... I'm actually kind of serious about the first partlol...)
  8. God, this is just terrible (no offense). If these aren't too cruel, take your pick (take the difficulty with a grain of salt: that's my opinion). #1: You aren't allowed to use Duessel on Phantom Ship (Difficulty: Very Difficult). #2: You cannot use any legendary weapons (Exception: 21B. Difficulty: Not Too Difficult) #3: You have to go for Riev on chapter 19 (like, rush him), no Warp Staff or any of those shenanigans (Difficulty: Insane, unless you don't care about character deaths) #4: You can only use Iron Weapons. Javelins, Hand Axes count. (Difficulty: Normal) #5: You aren't allowed to use the Swifsole (Difficulty: Not Too Bad) I'll think of some more later, if you really want. I would consider myself an expert in Sacred Stones, so I can provide some stuff, I'm sure 🙂 That's stupid and gimmicky. It won't test the OP's skill in any way. @Garlyle, don't.
  9. We all love Fire Emblem (I don't even know how you can disagree if you're on this site. Just. No). That's why we play it. But, as with any game, there is always room for improvement. With the advent of Three Houses, it got me thinking about what the next FE could improve on, whether it be a Geanology remake (that's a popular idea with the fandom), etc. Three Houses is an excellent game, to be sure - aesthetically-wise, it is probably #1 in my book- the graphics, interface, everything. The story is also good, and the cast of characters are well written. However, there are of course some notable downsides with Three Houses, or at least controversy. Among those are a limited cast (it's tiny, nearly as small as Sacred Stones's), which leave out some things to be desired, such as late game pre-promotes and the lack of characters outside of the school, difficulty (among the easiest I've ever played, even on Maddening), and more. So, what are your guys' opinions on ways the next FE can improve on Three Houses? Should they add back the weapon triangle? Do they keep going with Fodlan? Should they keep a school system? The options are endless (those are just some random things -_-). I'm just curious to hear the opinions on the Fandom. So, have at it, I guess.
  10. Pshhhhhh........... Oops. I don't pay attention. Well, I have nothing else to say.
  11. Sacred Stones, by far. Especially if you take Eirika's route, the ending is a lot more tragic in an already tragic game. Even after all this time, you didn't want to kill or confront Lyon, and yet... yeah. Sacred Stones for the win. RD is a second. The tower is excellent. (That's all I have to really say, is it?)
  12. Well, all your arguments are sound. They're all the arguments I use to convince myself to use Lilina! But... personal experience can't say much in the long run. Lilina is a good unit if you put the work into her, but the general consensus is that she's a lot of investment for not enough output. For the sake of efficiency, she's not considered a good unit, and that makes sense. Again, personal experience doesn't determine whether a unit is good- technically.
  13. OK, about Lilina: She has utterly mediocre bases and growths when she first joins, apart from the beastly 75% MAG growth. 35% Speed is just terrible, and you can't say her skill or defenses go particularly into her favor. She does get free levels in the Durandal Chapter (was it 8x? I honestly don't remember), but she struggles in later Chapters to be useful. She's just too frail. FE6 wasn't the kindest to magic users (I'm not talking about healers): For example, I'm sure most people would agree that Lugh is better than Lilina in an HM efficiency run (joins much earlier, lots of levels in between), but he still is a rather mediocre unit, which, again, tells you something about magic users in the game. Wendy: I mean, Barth will also be a wall if you put the work into him... Dorothy: Yeah, you could also make the same argument for Rebecca. And about nomads, Sue is objectively better, in every way. Fir: I've got to say, I agree with you. Fir is very much under appreciated and underrated. But you know what? Fuck it, I'm using Lilina. Even if my brain tells me otherwise.
  14. No, Astrid is still a phenomenal unit. That's the point of BEXP (even if it's "cheap")- to level up your weaker units. It's true that if you give any unit BEXP, they'll be good in PoR. It just so happens Astrid is the best unit you can get out of BEXP. You can compare average stats if you 20/1 Astrid VS, let's say, Rolf. On promotion she even gets axes. If there was no BEXP, Astrid would be trash. But there is, and the point of BEXP is to utilize it, so Astrid is good.
  15. MU x Chrom, and then solo the game with those two. Honestly. It's arguably the easiest way to do the game- you'll obviously have to use the Fred for the beginning levels, but afer MU gets going, she gets going. And then she kills everything. In reality, I can't really say much but reiterate what was said above- and I'm partially serious about the solo.
  16. I completely agree with you. Rolf (as mentioned) joins very weak, and the BEXP can go to better units anyways. Shinon leaves for literally 2/3 of the game and joins incredibly late, underleveled, and his recruitment is kind of iffy. I prefer to kill Shinon at the recruitment level and laugh at his face, since I never really liked him anyways. Noooot reaaaally... BTW it's a shame that you haven't played RD yet. Edward has excellent growths (60% strength for his class is out of this world, combined with other good stuff). It's just hard to raise him up, especially on Hard Mode, so sometimes he'll be lagging in level too much to catch up to your other units.
  17. Duedue may be an extremely loyal retainer, but he doesn't have the same guiding factor as the retainers before him. Hubert is... edgy. And sullen. And strange, to say the least. I don't like Hubert very much. To me, the eptiome of a retainer was Seth. Not only because he was a busted unit, but also because he was Seth. It's kind of hard to explain.
  18. We all know what a terrible character is- one that contributes very little, is not usable with considerable investment, etc. But, there are some characters that we have special bias toward- we convince ourselves they are good and we end up using them. One personal example for me is Lilina from FE6 (I'm sure people can symphasize). She's hardly a good unit in Hard Mode (she's passable in normal), but I still use her anyways; one, because Hector, two, because she's just so freakin adorable. Since I'm sure everyone shares this bias in some form, I'm just curious to see the opinions on the fandom.
  19. Even though we've never met, I fully support you. Thanks for being brave enough to come out- your gender doesn't define who you are. Again, I applaud your bravery, and bravo 🙏
  20. Sacred Stones. Creature Campaign and a host of things to do. I really don’t believe Binding Blade can compete with the other two games here, because you need to finish the game an absurd amount of times to unlock some secret characters(Unlocking Guinivere I think it’s like 8 playthroughs of the game), and the route split? Eh. Blazing Blade in terms of story.
  21. Well, I'm really not sure if a first Binding Blade is difficult at all, since on the first run you are defaulted to Normal. But: 1) Avoid axes like the plague 2) Since bosses are much harder to kill than in FE7 (because of the insane throne bonuses), you must use a certain myrmidon that joins fairly early, he will be your best boss killer. He's busted. 3) Avoid armored units. They're all shit in this game. 4) Lance and Allen are the only cavaliers you'll need in the game. Also, Perceval. The two other cavaliers that join later are also shit (it's been a while since I played FE6, I'm not sure if there are any more recruit able cavaliers. Probably not.). You can't rely on Marcus as you did in FE7- he's still very useful, but he will fall off quickly. 5) Despite what tier lists say, keep a Mage or an archer, preferably a nomad (Sue) around.
  22. Well, that seems fair enough. I didn't notice the OP's comments in using save states, so that's my problem. And you're right about the save states- they do help a lot when the ambush spawns come, but I'm still of the opinion that they should not be used. But, since the OP's fine with it, then that's perfectly valid.
  23. Eirika's route, Hard mode. Normal mode is far too easy, while Hard mode can give you a decent challenge, especially on chapters like chapter 15, while still being fun. Erika's the top choice for a first run. Eclipse is right about Ephriam's route: chapter 14 is pretty disgusting, especially for new players such as yourself. Just keep in mind: Restore staff. And chapter 11. Why would you abuse save states anyways, even in Chapter 11? Anyways, this is someone's first time playing a "real" FE game. This is not an experienced player ready to take on a real challenge, FYI. Chapter 11 will easily be too overwhelming, even for some experienced players. It's great that you you don't think Chapter 11 is a challenge or anything but be mindful of other players. We're all happy to help! (Although I probably didn't say much other than reiterating what other people said above...)
  24. No, there really isn't. The monster stats don't change much, maybe a slight boost there and there. Creature campaign isn't even meant to be that challenging in the first place. I'm not aware of any patches or anything...but maybe there are.
