  1. Fair point. I actually like how romance was toned down in this game compared to Awakening and Fates. Getting a few paired endings was nice though. Made me smile.
  2. Yeah, I think that's the problem. Female Byleth gets quite a few options, while the male is really only stuck with one. Granted, Linhardt is awesome, but, yeah.
  3. Ah okay, now I see your point. Doesn't bother me quite as much, but yeah, I agree that the monastery loses its flavour in the second half of the game.
  4. I get that, but in your earlier post, you were talking about, and I quote, "uninteresting optimizations that don't ultimately matter", i.e. something that is completely skippable by your own admission. Why not just skip it then if it doesn't ultimately matter, isn't fun for you and the option to skip it is there? I have no problem with it if you prefer the older gameplay style, but I don't see what the big deal about optional gameplay elements is. Don't want to do it? Then don't. I find Three Houses did a pretty good job keeping this stuff mostly optional in this game. Compare that to something like the film studio in Pokemon Black 2 / White 2, and you might see where I'm coming from - that's a side activity that's completely detached from the main game and storyline, and yet mandatory for every playthrough.
  5. I'm not sure I get it. Apart from the few mandatory Explores in the early game, everything else IS skippable, isn't it? You don't have to explore if you don't want to, and tutoring can be done automatically, so really, you can just do paralogues and battles every free weekend if that's what you want, can't you? Now keep in mind I can't speak for Maddening since I haven't tried that yet, but I imagine that in Hard Mode, you can fairly easily compensate for your students' lack of motivation by doing more auxiliary battles and getting skill experience that way.
  6. Did you recruit him on the same day that you took the quest? If not, all I can think of is trying again the next weekend if you still have that opportunity (you don't need to decide on your candidate right away, check the calendar) or load an earlier save file.
  7. Technically, it is a Game Over judging by how earlier titles where only the main lord is a loss condition are usually played, though you could instead just opt not to use Manuela anymore, or kill her off in a different chapter.
  8. Ah, I see. I haven't tried out NG+ yet, so I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up.
  9. No stat differences, but your romance options and available classes change.
  10. You can also raise your professor level and I believe change Byleth's appearance.
  11. Question: I kind of accidentally dismissed the Gautier Knights battallion. Any way to get that back without reloading my safe?
  12. My first route was semi iron man Golden Deer. I say semi iron man because I did use the turnwheel, but not to rewind deaths. In any case, I wanted to play female Byleth and be a lesbian, and that plan, well, did not work out like I was hoping it would. When I realized there were no female romance options in the Golden Deer House, I decided to recruit Dorothea, only for her to die a few chapters later due to a careless mistake on my part. I then got Mercedes as a replacement, but she too bit the dust at some point. I finally settled for Sothis because I had missed the Rhea support and she was the only female option left. Other than those two, I also lost Flayn, as well as Sylvain and Leonie. The latter was especially heartbreaking because she was easily one of my best units, and it happened very late in the game, but iron man is iron man.
  13. Kind of a story related question / general bitching. Crimson Flower Post Chapter 12
  14. Oooh, I'm sorry, must have misunderstood. I got the B support right after the Holy Tomb battle, so maybe you'll need to support her a bit more in order to reach it. Supports that you've unlocked but can't access yet will be marked with a light blue colour, in case that helps.
  15. You need to do C and C+. If you look in the Support menu, you'll notice two little arrows above the C support. This means that they're split, and there will be two conversations for one tier. You need to do both, AND talk to Edelgard in the monastery before the battle in the Holy Tomb.
  16. Ah, fair enough. I do distinctly remember it taking less time to unlock than usual when having Byleth tutoring students, but I might be off about the exact amount.
  17. Just three actually, as far as I'm aware. (disclaimer: I'm not supporting either side in this argument, just wanted to throw that in)
  18. I've been thinking about making him a Fortress Knight that uses Bows next time I play Blue Lions. The plan here is to give him a Longbow and a Pure Water, as well as feed him every Res stat booster I can get my hands on. Gimmicky? Hell yeah, but it sounds like tons of fun.
  19. Just gonna answer this one: For me it's a mix of story, characters, presentation and simplicity that does the trick for me. Messing around with classes in Fates might be fun, but I personally find it incredibly overwhelming at times. SoV is just much easier to play, while still offering a reasonable challenge on Hard Mode I find (I personally don't use the Turnwheel to rewind deaths).
  20. The Rise of the Deliverance DLC already has a chapter that's pretty much this. The Clair and Mathilda map has nothing to do with the main story, but serves to deepen the two characters it focuses on. I find it's also pretty well done, so yeah, I'd support more of this kind of stuff.
  21. This page should have all the information you need. To make things even more convenient, copy the "Repairing" list into Excel and filter the buyable materials.
  22. Here are some tips: -Plan out your classes in advance. You don't have to rigidly stick to your plan at all times, but if you have a general idea of what class you want a character to end up in you can work on the needed proficiencies early to avoid hitting a roadblock. -Keep some training weapons around. While they have low might, they can be very useful to guarantee a double attack, avoid one from an enemy, or provide a good hitrate. -Don't overload all of your units with different weapon types. To really excel with a weapon, you'll need to equip a proficiency ability that provides additional hit rate, avoid and crit avoid. These take up one of your five ability slots which you might want for something else. Instead, I find that most units are fine with one or two weapon types. -Both fishing and gardening don't cost activity points, but raise your Professor Level. Hope these are useful. 🙂 Feel free to ask questions, and have fun with the game!
