  1. I promote all of them ASAP. Don't worry about their stats, enemies are too weak it doesn't really matter all that much. Asvel of course is the best candidate for first Knight Proof, since +6 to mag, skl and spd is pretty much insta-win(also because your Asvel will cap Magic and Skill upon it regardless). I also suggest give your second Knight Proof to Finn so he can capture ch8 boss easily. Don't worry about Knight Proofs all that much. As mentioned before there are 14 free Knight Proofs in the game and you can get them almost in every chapter starting with chapter 7.  Fatigue is not a big deal(unless you're doing your job reeeeally slow), since even your unpromoted units can deal with enemies with ease. Also, all healers(except Troubadours) will get +1 staff rank upon promotion, so keep that in mind.
As for units that you have on your hands: promote Asvel, Finn, Karin(+leg ring or Mov level up is one-love). I don't recommend you to promote Brighton(he's pretty mediocre) unless you really want to use him. Machua is a good candidate for Proof as well, but there are better units than her, so unless you really want to use her don't bother with it.

    Anyways final question:

    Do good FE5 hacks exist?

I heared of Super Thracia which has higher level cap of everyone, but that's pretty much all I know?

    Is this hack recommendable?

Super Thracia is like bs Thracia. Lotsa enemies, who spawn if you do something wrong...or right; a lot of bs overall. Not recommended at all(unless you're masochist). You may watch some vids on youtube to know better, and there's actually one unfinished playthrough there.
There's a Blume hack. It's actually have the same system as Super Thracia: higher level caps, higher stat caps, different weapons, some skills activates differently, effective damage changed and so on. Some of this is actually fun, until you reach ch14. Ballictians are actually playable in this hack and they can move, so you've got the rest I think. Some of the units can promote twice, all of the units have divided promotions(like for example Nanna can promote either to Troubadour or Princess, although the item required for second promo is quite rare). AS formula changed. Enemies are not weak and now pose some threat. Weapon Triangle have different boosts now(+-30 Hit instead of +-5). There is no longer PCC. Ced can die in Ch 4x because his AI is dumb. You can check it out, it much harder than vanila Thracia, but you may find something fun in it. Also the whole hack in Japanese, just to note.
I don't think there are any hacks for FE5 aside from those. There are RR and Randomizer, but I won't count them as full hacks

I'd not say for the entire game.

The enemies don't gain really levels and stats later on.

Though seeing a level 20 armor knight with less strength than he should have at base level is just silly.

    Anyways I beat the game.

Only E rank despite I got all recruitments, most extra rewards and low turn count for the most late game chapters, but whatever.

Thracia's enemies are very weak(I think the reason for that is low enemy classes' growths in general). FE5's ranking is pretty harsh, it only takes into account your turn count and number of units in the end(47 needed, if less rank will be lowered by one). It's not hard to get A rank(needed for unlocking Sound Room), but ranks above requires planning

. . .uhh, that's a triple post.  Use the little plus sign next to Quote for Multiquote.

Oh, thank you, I get it

Have you tried the FE4 reverse recruitment patch?  It's somewhere on this site!

No, I haven't. I found it already, I should try this one. Thanks

FE4 Binary is a great way to play through the game again. It adds new mechanics, weapons, and all sorts of changes to the enemies to actually make the game difficult. It may not be a fully new game, but it is lots of fun.

Oh, I forgot to mention in the OC, that I've also played Binary. It was fun. Thanks for your reply anyway

I find this is interesting. You can randomize their classes, recruitments, weapon stats, items v,v,v,,,,,  This is the first thing I would like to hack in FE 4

Oh, thank you. I completely forgot for some reason that there are randomizers exists. I'll try this out. Thanks again for your reply

I'm gonna move this to Fan Project Questions, since this pertains to that.

Meanwhile, have you tried a reverse recruitment?

Thank you very much for your work.
Yes, I tried RR on FE5. Was satisfied, but it's not kind of thing I want to play.

  8. So, I've been searching for hacks for both of these games and I haven't found anything interesting. There are 2 noticable hacks on FE5, the one that is bs Blume hack and the other is even more bs Super Thracia. On FE4 field there are more hacks, but nothing interesting either. Inflation - easy and fun hack, Overpowered - unblanced one, Remix - kind of dumb. I know that there is Shin patch for FE4, but from what I've heard there is nothing really new, just a little bit of changes here and there and higher difficulty in general, but that's it. I've heard that there are "Genealogy of-" hacks but I've never found direct links to them. So, does anyone have links to those kinds of hacks or hacks on Jugdral games in general? I will be very grateful for your help.

This. . .kinda sounds like you have an issue with tropes in general, instead of specific characters.  Awakening/Fates was especially bad about gimmicks over character writing and growth.

Not that disliking tropes is a bad thing (I dislike them when they're deployed with no sense of subtlety).  But if you can list out multiple tropes that annoy you, then it's best to cut to the heart of the matter.

    1. It's GOTTA be the dude with the eyepatch!  😛

    2. Tomas is willing to put an arrow through Kris' head in the name of science training.  That's awesome.  I'm kinda sad that Sedgar's personality is bland, but at least he's cute!

It's not like I dislike the tropes, even the older games have ones and I love them, and I've already mentioned that some trope characters in TH were done well. So it's not the problem in tropes themselves but rather how devs present this. Fates and Awakening are going too far with gimmicks, so those gimmicks become  the characters themselves.

  10. oof, there are so many characters from Fates. Who should I choose? Well...I would like to write about all of those characters who I dislike, but the thing is I'm just gonna repeat myself over and over again, because my problem with them, that they're all gimmicky. How I tired that Awakening and Fates just use silly, archetypical characters over and over again. There is tsundere type, there is yandere type, there is psychopath type, there is unlucky guy type, there is "I'm smarter than you" type, there is loli type, shy girl type, flawless man type, big boobs type, etc. I have really a few characters that I like in both of these games or rather just neutral to them. So I'll just name these characters: Oboro, Takumi, Niles, Beruka(kind of), Selena(kind of) and...That's kind of it?
Well, outside of Fates and Awakening characters, there are also some people from other games, like Bernadetta for example. So anoying little one. That's kind of character who they should've put in Fates, because TH really tries to not f*** up with the characters. They're even gave some cliche characters such as Felix or Sylvain some meaningful reasons to act the way they act. Sadly Bernie is not the case...
Cyril, Catherine - Rhea, Rhea, Rhea...Move on
Hubert - annoying... same as the preious ones, but change "Rhea" with "Edelgard".
Lysithea and all "I am not a child" kinds of characters
Makalov - because he is just disgusting
Chagal - just a dumb ruler of his country
Edit:Oh, I've just noticed that the title is saying about ONE character. If you don't mind I'll leave my list of least fav characters. I'm sorry for my inattention...

  11. I would recommend you to sell some of those. Olwen is bad even with vantage, you need ridiculous amount of resources to make Vantage!Olwen work, especially it's dangerous in Ironman run.  So Vantage scroll is pretty useless one. Also Accost is pretty dangerous skill, so I would also recommend sell it. Sol is pretty useless tbh. the maximum skill activation you will have is 20%, which is really unreliable and do not worth it. Luna on the other hand also is not really reliable, but more useful than Sol(killing Reydrick with Mareeta is pretty fun). Nihil I think can be useful on Leif, since it will be very useful in the Final Chapter(and nowhere else). Adept again is pretty unreliable, so I'd recommend to sell it as well. I also do not recommend to give a Paragon manual to Karin, since it's pain in a butt to train her. Of course I will say that promoted Karin is pretty good and if you promote her before Deen will show up, she will be your best flier for the rest of the game, since avoidance is pretty abusable in FE5. But hey, it's your choice to train Karin or not. Also, I suggest to put Wrath on either Nanna or Linoan since they both have access to Nosferatu weapons. As for the route, I will recommend to go to A route. Sure, in B route you will have early Berserk staff, Luna scroll and Vouge, but A route have better items, such as 2 Warp staves and Rescue staff. In both routes you can get 1 Master Seal. A route maps are less tedious and have much better units than B route(but hey, Miranda is secretly great unit, if you do one simple trick). So, that's my suggestions and recommendations, hope you'll find them useful. Good luck with your Ironman run

Dondon151 has a pretty good video with an accompanying thread on this site to explain some of the intricacies in Xavier's recruitment and how to do it quickly. If you haven't seen it, I think it would be a pretty good resource.

Thank you very much. I completely forgot about Dondon 0% growths run. Think I'll use this in my next run. Again, thank you

  13. I just finished ch 18 and recruited Xavier. I wanted to do it in a small tc. But this chapter took 30 turns to complete(not the smallest tc for sure). Reinforcements before you block them are annoying af, a lot of turn lost because of Lenster armors AI, Dean misses and overall about 4-5 turns lost to get Leif to Xavier from left staircase and also two turb lost because Xavier is inaccurate with Master Axe even with Leif support and Kingmaker. So I want to ask how can I improve my tc in this chapter and at the same time recruit Xavier? Maybe some planing in other chapters needed in order to succeed(other than obvios Sleep Sword and door keys)?

Lyn is only worse than Eliwood in HHM when not doing Lyn Mode because the game decided to not give her an HM boost. As long as you do her mode she is way easier to train than Eliwood, if a bit prone to screwage.

You already covere Eirika and Ike.

Marth never seemed bad to me but i never touched Hard5 and if the scaling is crazy enought i see why.

What is so bad about Celica? She is not as dominating as Alm but she has lots of good tools. It's because she don't do much in Desert Hell while playing efficiently(but then, every lord not named Claude would suck in those maps)?

The biggest issue whit Eliwood is that he just don't have much going for him. Pretty much every other lord has special toys that make them useful, but Eliwood really has nothing that cannot be done by Lyn or Hector. Rapier is the worst prf weapon, his promotion is arguably the best but came too late and whitout a special weapon, Durandal comes super late. Pretty much everyone else has exclusive access to "Rapier utility" or has better stats, or promote earlier. Roy is the only one i would call worse.

Well, yes, if Lyn trained in Lyn, she is better than Eliwood, but there is also better units to train(2 cavaliers and Florina), so for the most part it's just a waste of exp to train Lyn. And even than, Lyn is just better in the early game. But this doesn't say much, since even in early game she strugles to do anything meaningful. Sometimes she can't ORKO an enemy, sometimes she face weapon triangle disadvantage and most of the time she can't survive more than 2 hits from anything(sometimes can't survive even one hit). Eliwood is more of a long-term unit. I never saw a problem to get Lyn and Eliwood to promotion level. And while Lyn promotion is just lol, Eliwood becomes a viable unit, by having a mount and 1-2 range option which is good. And thus Eliwood good for the rest of the game while Lyn can't do much after promotion. Of course for the most part I'm refering to HNM, since I'm yet to finish HHM, but I'm also picked some notes from Mekkkah's Lyn's analysis(such as unabality to ORKO enemys, she have durability issues even in HNM).

Marth is just visiting the villages all the time and does not see any combat. Considering that there are a lot of great mounted units, even if there were no places Marth should visit, he still rarely see combat+warpskip chapters. I would have also include Marth from FE12, but there he have good bases, access to Drilling Grounds and ability double and kill enemys he have effectiveness against, so I won't nitpicking.

Maybe I have just a bad impression of Cellica and that's why I said that I'm not sure about that pick. She have good tools, sure, but they are going to late in the game, she really not contribute with it that good(but I'll say that she's one of the better mages in her route). She struggles to double much in mid-late game and gets doubled at the same time. While Alm have an access to Double Lion, Cellica have nothing. In her route there are so many units, that do better job than her: Sabar, Leon, Kamui, Palla, Catria, Deen. Overall I'm not sure about this pick, since I haven't that much expirience with fe15, so I can't say for sure

What lords are you talking about that are way worse than him?

Lyn, Eirika, Roy, Marth(FE11), maybe even Ike from FE9(the lack of 1-2 range option is really hurts him in such an easy game), Celica(but there I might just nitpicking to Celica route in general). Ike and Eirika not way worse than Eliwood since they're both in a much easier games, but the lack of mobility and/or lack of 1-2 range option really hurts him which make them worse imo

I don’t think I can help you with that, sorry. Is Eliwood even hated, generally? Maybe that’s just the perception you have from your experiences? I have a friend that loves him. Is he hated for being a ‘bad’ unit, or for his character/personality? I know that some people find him boring.

Both actually. But I see more often people claim him being bad unit rather than a bad character. Maybe I percieve this situation too radically, but if I go to other forums, I see that people really don't like him. I see why he may not be liked as a unit, since not that good bases, overall ok growths, poor mobility, etc. And I sympathize his place in the tier lists, but there is also other units or lords that waaay worse than him and they're just ignored.

Thank you so much for this extremely helpful and thorough write up! This seems like all around great advice and I really appreciate it.

It does now seem like it's quite a major gameplay mistaket to pair Jamka x Brigid but it's too late to change that at this point, oh well. I liked the idea of "archer babies" but clearly that doesn't work for Patty, oops. Well, I will take your advice and give her the pursuit band to make up for it. 😉 Thank you again!

It's not like a mistake pairing JamkeXBrigid, you can pair up whoever you want. There are good pairings that can benefit one child but make another child bad(or just hard to use) like AideenXClaud. It's just hard to work with JamkeXBridgit, since Jamke can't pass useful skills(Adept is good, but Pursuit is better), Holy Blood, weapon rank(Holyn for example) or good swords. It's not like Patty will be bad if you pair Brigid with Jamke, it's just it will be much harder to level her up to promotion level. Adept is still good and both children will be happy to have it, so don't worry about Patty, just make sure that she'll get needed resources so she can level up quickly. Good luck with Gen 2, I see that your pairings are good, so it should not be a threat to beat it 🙂

  18. 2 minutes ago, Dr. Tarrasque said:

You CAN get her to A rank without promoting, it's literally just using more Physics than you actually need to.

I just looked back at a speed run where the player fished for Repair staff misses (does NOT drain durability but does grant Staff EXP) and he managed to get Safy to A rank in time for Chapter 10 without promoting her.

Yeah, that's great too. Sadly my Safy already have 10 Skill and I can't/am to lazy to manipulate RNG in FE5.

  19. 5 minutes ago, Dr. Tarrasque said:

You use/spam other staves that give more EXP like Torch, Physic, M Up (or barrier, what the Mag +7 granting staff is called in the patch you're playing). I think some low turn/speed runs give her the Paragon skill for just this reason.

Oh, this is great idea to give her Pargon. Guess I was to dumb to not use it in proper tim 😞 Well, looks I'm going with my plan now to give Tina a Paragon Manual. Thank you very much for your advice, I should try it in my next runs.

  20. AideenXMidir : Midir should pass both Killer Bow and Brave Bow(they both great in arena in different situations). As for Lana, she should inherit Physic, Warp, Mend and maybe ring(any of them really, this is needed to repair staves, especially Warp and Physic in early game) to sell it.
AyraXHolyn: I don't really think that you should worry about Ayra children since they can handle Arena regardless of their weapons, but you may pass down Silver Sword and Silver Blade so you they will be 100% reliable.
ErinXLewyn: if you didn't leave Brave Lance on Fin, I suggest you to give it to Erin, since Fee is the only unit who can inherit Lances. As for Ced, nah, just pass down Forseti, he really does not need anything.
LachesisXBeowulf: Return staff, Miracle Sword(because why not) to Nanna and that's all I think. Beowulf should pass down Steel Sword and Armor Slayer. Maybe Power Ring or Shield Ring would be good for him in early game
TiltyuXAzel: I think that Arthur comes with a Wind tome, so he's fine. Maybe should pass down Elfire for the output damage, but fire magic is meh. Magic Ring will also be good for him. For Tiltyu Wind tome and Speed Ring, sadly no Thoron for her.
SylviaXClaud: for both I suggest to buy not so useless rings(Barrier, Shield, Skill Rings) so their children can sell them to earn money. Leg and Knight Ring are also good for Lene to have, but I would suggest first one for Seliph
BridgetXJamke: oof, I don't like this pairing. As you already finished Ch3 no swords for Patty I guess. I think the best option for her in that case will be inheriting Speed Ring and Pursuit Band(she's the only one that will not have Pursuit in your playthrough besides Quan and Ethlyn children and Sylvia children) you may also give her some rings so she can earn money. Faval does not need anything other than Yewfelle
Seliph: Silver Sword, Leg Ring, maybe 1-2 range sword and maybe Brave Sword, Paragon Band
I also suggest you to give Bargain Band(if you have it) someone like Patty, since it will be easier to her to level up. Brave Sword can inherit everyone unless you're playing on rank or LTC-ing(I like give it to Holyn!Patty or Leif since it will be easier to make them a valuable units)
