  1. Don't have to participate if you don't want to ! That's not meant as an insult; I'm just saying, people are gonna say what people are gonna say .
  2. Alright, so...Althena...eh. She's pretty good. She's still basically a flying fortress with 60+ Might + Pursuit + Continue + Critical + 124 Accuracy. All of that would have been incredible earlier on in the game, but...well... The enemies in Chapters 10-Final kind of take a dump all over that. There are reams and REAMS of magic users coming out of the woodwork, and tons of status staves flying around; none of Althena's defenses can save her from that onslaught. Granted, the same could ALSO be said for 80% of our army, but...most of THEM come earlier than Althena does. The game itself kind of just becomes the "Celice, Aless, Leen, Leaf, and Arthur/Sety show (with special guest star Narga!Julia)" by that point, just because of all the nonsense the Final Chapter throws at you. Plus...that Gae Bolg is far too heavy. The Dragon Master class already has one of the lowest SPD caps out of any promoted class in the game, so that 15 WT is not doing her ANY favors. Hilda & Manfroy 2HKO her, Ridale has Hero Sword + Pursuit + Critical, Alvis usually OHKOes her...and don't even get me started on the Pegasus Trio! That all said...she's still a flying unit; and flying units are especially handy to have on Chapters 10-Final. She can rescue far away villages, she can ORKO some of the staff and magic users near Chalphy (Final), she can help protect Palmark and his kids on Chapter 10, she helps get Arionne off your back in Final, she can OHKO Ishtar on Chapter 10 (she doesn't get 5 Leadership stars until Final, so Althena CAN still hit Ishtar)...and you also NEED her for LTCing strats in Final if you didn't get Sharlow's Berserk Staff. Heck, she can even do 54 Damage to fricken ALVIS if you can somehow get her RES high enough. Granted, Celice can do that too; but even Celice can sometimes take a while trying to chop through Alvis's Big Shield (30% activation rate) + 40 Defense + 16 HP Regen + 104 Evade. EDIT: Well, OK, you don't NEED her for LTC strats in Final; that was needless hyperbole on my part. But she does help make things much more reliable if you don't have Sharlow. 7/10. She's not one of your best units...but she still has her uses. And frankly, that's more than I can say for even some of the child characters (*cough*Faval*cough*). I personally found her helpful, but, I can see how others might not.
  3. ...You know what?. I think Capp'n Bob hit the nail on the head. The only thing I'd add on top of what he said is a Gen 3. The game was originally supposed to have a 3rd Gen that wrapped up all the loose ends and everything; but the game programmers didn't have enough time to do that. Julia would convert Julius back to the man he was via the power of love (or something) and the child characters would search for their mothers... I'd love to see how all that would have turned out. And maybe Loptyr himself (no human possession, you're just straight up fighting the dragon) could be the final boss, if Gen 3 needs an antagonist.
  4. Actually, there is one another thing that'll help. Julia starts with 0 Love Points for everyone (except Celice, if Tiltyu didn't have kids), so you could probably use that to cut out some of the trial and error.
  5. You were close! But the values would be... 7E3BE9 244 7E3BEA 1 So yeah! I'd say you got all the concepts down! As for how to find the Addresses...well, it's a bit tedious. Keep in mind that the list I already have above assumes that all the Gen 1 women got married; things start getting shuffled around a bit once Gen 1 women start dying off/not bearing children. For example, Celice X Julia will normally use 7E3BE5 once you reset the game. HOWEVER, if Tiltyu doesn't bear children (and instead, you get Amid and Linda), the game will instead use 7E3C75 as their love address. This, coincidentally, is part of what explains why Celice X Julia will sometimes start at 490 Love Points instead of 0, but, that's not relevant to your question. As for how to find the Sub Addresses, you'll basically just want to start punching in the RAM Addresses I listed above and start mucking with them. It's a tedious job, but you'll eventually find which Addresses govern Hawk's Love Points. Sorry I couldn't give you a more straightforward answer...FE4's coding seems to be something of a mess ...
  6. Yeah. And even if things DO go pear-shaped for you on the Inheritance end (for example, if you let some of your Gen 1 females die), you should still be fine. The crutch characters in this game are REALLY useful, and that becomes especially apparent in Gen 2. This game isn't like Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem; it always does a good job of giving you what you need, no matter what.
  7. Nah; the game generally is biased toward giving your females some husbands that compliment their kids pretty well. Females will have much higher Love Growths + Starting Love Points + Etc. with some males than they will with others, and stuff like that; so even winging it shouldn't mess you up too much.
  8. Yeah. It's not too much a problem for most units, but I find that Holsety!Arthur and Faval can run into some trouble if they and their parents spammed their Holy Weapons too much.
  9. Indeed! And I just added in Julia's Love Addresses too! Now you can even use cheat codes to get what you want! NOTE: But if you do that, just remember; each of the addresses I listed have a second address; one where the ones digit is one digit higher. You'll want to add a "2" to THAT address instead of the ones I have listed here. There's...a whole lot of technical mumbo jumbo as to why that is, but, you're probably not going to get it unless you have some basic knowledge in Hex. So for example, Celice X Lana. The ROM Address I have listed in this thread is 7E3CBD; so instead of editing that, you'll want to add a "2" to the ROM Address "7E3CBE" in order to instantly marry them. Like I said, the reason for this involves a lot of technical jargon, but...I'll include it if you really want to know. You ready? You SURE you want to try and wrap your head around it? ... Okay, so, each ROM Address can only store a value as high as 255; well below the 500 threshold that the game requires for marriage. So to get around this, programmers will instead dedicate another ROM Address to tracking that second integer. So for example, 7E3CBD can only hold a value of 255, so the programmers will use 7E3CBE as a 2nd Address and tie it to the 1st Address. Why's that important? Well, you know how mathematics has a "one's place" in all of our numbers? And you know how that "one's place" will "store" every digit from 0-9? And then wrap around back to 0 when you want to write out "10"? And then that second digit will then act as a "ten's place"? Well, what's going on here is kind of like that; except instead of there only being 0-9 like in regular numbers, we have 0-255 in Hex numbers instead. The 2nd Address then acts as the "ten's digit" for when the 1st Address wraps around back to 0. So if the addresses are laid out as so... 7E3CBD - 0 7E3CBE - 1 That means that Celice has built up exactly 256 Love Points with Lana. And if they're laid out like THIS... 7E3CBD - 0 7E3CBE - 2 That means that Celice has built up 512 Love Points with her. However, if one lays out the numbers like THIS... 7E3CBD - 120 7E3CBE - 0 Then Celice will only have 120 Love Points built up with Lana. Does this make sense at all?
  10. Hmm...yeah, that's a good point. And Oifaye's still a pretty decent unit even after Chapter 7. So ok! I'll still have him at 9/10!
  11. Well now, here's Ares; named after the God of War! And...it's a pretty fitting name! 13 STR, 12 SKL, 13 SPD, and 12 DEF are very solid base stats for a Level 7, and his growths are pretty good too! He's basically got Sigurd's growths, except he's given up -30% Skill in return for +20% HP, 40% STR, +10% LCK, and +25% RES...not a bad trade! But you know what's REALLY cool about Ares? The Mistoltein...boy is it cool. It's as useful as the Balmung, but in a different way; instead of emphasizing Speed, it emphasizes Res. So while Shanan is a fast and speedy beatstick, Ares is a magic resistant beatstick! Even Alvis can't kill THIS guy in one hit! And Ambush is also very neat if you give the guy a 100 Kill Hero Sword and throw him into a mosh-pit of all 1 Range guys. Of course...he's still not QUITE as good as Celice. He's got most of Celice's RES, but he doesn't have Celice's MAG; he can't use 2 Range magic swords the way Celice can. So he, unfortunately, comes up somewhat lacking in the area of versatility. Not TOO lacking though; he's still got a horse! So all in all, he's an even better crutch unit than Oifaye! Guy can EASILY kill Ishtor, Jabarro, and both iterations of Blume; and they're the only mandatory bosses with any amount of difficulty to them till Chapter 10. Everyone else who comes before that chapter is either easily dispatched, or easily skipped. 9/10 Hmm...you know what, you have a point. My first instinct was to point out that movement issues aren't as much of a concern in a casual run as they are in an efficiency run...but then I remember the last part of the Final Chapter. There are a metric ton of really nasty bosses in that last stretch of the game, and it is REALLY convenient being able to run right past them with Rescue!Leaf + Leen. Just look at the following GIFs I made here once... http://lpix.org/2190531/Fancy Dancer Trick 1.gif http://lpix.org/2190538/Dancer Fancy Trick 2.gif No one else in the game can do that. And now that I think about it...Leaf actually DOESN'T require that much investment. Promoting him is only a hassle if you're trying to do it before Chapter 10. But if you're content with just letting Celice solo Chapters 6-9...then Leaf's promotion is just fine. Just give him a good enough weapon for Chapter 7 & 8's Arena, then plop on an Elite Ring for Chapter 9 & 10's Arenas, and whammo! You got yourself a Master Knight! So yeah, I'll give Leaf a 9/10 instead. Thank you Valkama! And thank you so much for being gracious about it !
  12. THIS RANKING IS FOR LEAF; I'LL HAVE ARES'S RATING UP LATER. SPEAKING OF WHICH, THE LINK TO LEAF'S CURRENT RATING SAYS IT'S FOR ARES; THAT'S A TYPO YOU'LL WANT TO FIX ! You know...one of the things I'm realizing as I go through these is; I actually do NOT know these units as well as I do the Gen 1 units. I can't remember the last time I HAVEN'T just blasted through Gen 2 with Celice (with some occasional help from Sety/Arthur, Ares, and Leaf); the only time I can ever remember doing otherwise is on my very first playthrough of this game. So, I'm having to theorycraft a lot more on these units than I did on the Gen 1 units. So if there are any ratings I give that are glaringly wrong, please forgive me; I'm more than open to changing them. That said, here's my opinion on Leaf. He's a very impressive unit...but I've never found him to be THAT impressive. He does have slightly better stat caps than Celice, yes. He DOES have an instant A Rank in every weapon type except Light and Dark, that's all true. And his growths are really good...that is never to be denied. And yet, I just could never find anything that only HE could do; inspite of ALL of that amazing stuff he has post-promotion...I could never figure out anything he could do that was truly unique. I mean ok, he can wield that Rescue Staff like nobody's business...but that only really matters in Efficiency runs. Otherwise, that's really not that big of a deal. As for the other stuff...well, here are the arguments as I understand them...and then here are the counter arguments... ------------------------- Argument #1: This guy is a REALLY awesome combat unit! Counter-Argument #1: Ok...so is Shanan, Holsety!Arthur/Sety, Celice, Ares, and Althena; and Celice and Holsety!Arthur/Sety STILL end up better than him! Besides, the enemies don't actually start getting hard till Chapter 10; the rest of the game up to that point is a one-sided Celice stomp against everyone you come across. The only players who won't have haxed Celice to the max are new players; and if they don't know how to utilize Celice's full potential, they're not going to know how to use Leaf's. Argument #2: This guy can use every staff in the game! Counter-Argument #2: Yeah, that's pretty cool...but I could've always just used Sety/Hawk or any of my other many, many staff users. Argument #3: The guy's super good at killing bosses! Counter-Argument #3: Yep...and so are Shanan, Holsety!Arthur, Celice, and Ares. And I don't have to BABY any of those guys like I do with Leaf. Argument #4: The guy has ample time to train on Armours in Chapter 7, and plenty of Gold to get from the villages! Counter-Argument #4: He does...but said Armours are only at Level 5. And while there is indeed a lot of Gold, it's still not enough to allow him to afford the Elite Ring. The only way I found to getting him to get him an early promotion is to give him a 100 Kill weapon and grind him off of Jabarro's men. But even then, there's no way for me to guarantee his survival. I'm relying on RNG to go my way. Argument #5: The guy has almost-exclusive access to tools, like Tornado, that almost no one else is ever gonna use! Counter-Argument #5: He does...but Holy Weapon users like Holsety!Arthur have LITERAL exclusive access to tools that are even better than that. And again, no investment is required for them. ------------------------- So basically, my problem with Leaf is this. You CAN get a really good unit out of him if you're willing to put up with his "locked to swords, stuck at Level 1, and no-horse" nature...but he's still superfluous (at least in non-Efficiency settings). All of the really important jobs are already covered by units that don't require any of the investment he does. Besides that, I've found using him to be outright...frustrating, at times. I HAVE to have either passed down the Return Staff to Nanna, or passed down the Return Ring to Leaf; otherwise, I have to wait a while before I can even get them to any of my Chapter 7 castles. And if I want to promote Leaf at Chapter 8...I also can't easily do THAT unless I have said Return Ring or Return Staff. Otherwise, I have to manually walk him all the way down to where the main castle is. These aren't crippling issues, but I still feel like I have to work around his starting positions more than I do most of the other units in this game. So in conclusion, I feel like giving him an 8/10. The guy is perhaps the greatest Est unit the franchise has ever seen...but he's still an Est unit all the same. And he's an Est unit in a game where a good chunk of his buddies are broken from start to finish, no investment needed.
  13. How exactly does one accomplish that, anyway? Him promoting by Chapter 8 with "just a bit of planning"? I'm struggling with whether to give him an 8/10 or a 9/10, so this may be the difference maker.
  14. At long last, I have discovered the secret Jealousy charts that have been missing from this site for so long! I have manually tested this out for each and every child character, as well as Celice, Leaf, Oifaye, and Shanan! Sadly, I did not get this for the substitute characters as well, nor did I get it for Johan. I also cannot assume that these Jealousy charts are the same for the sub versions as they are for the child versions, because the ROM Addresses used to store the love growth for each couple are NOT the same between the children and subs. I COULD test out the love growth for all the subs as well but...that sounds too time consuming to me. So here they are, with some notes to accompany them! NOTE #1: Julia is usually on the bottom of every Jealousy chart; however, she is at the TOP of Aless and Shanan's charts! I...have no idea why this is, but she does. NOTE #2: The Subs and Children do NOT share the same ROM Addresses. Where address 7E3CE5 will be dedicated to Celice and Patty in a Children, that SAME address will be dedicated to Skasaha & Daisy in a Subs run. NOTE #3: These charts assume that you Reset the game at least once upon entering Gen 2. I...did not feel like going through every possible combination for a No-Reset run. NOTE #4: The game never allows you to marry direct siblings to each other, so it puts a permanent -1 inside every Address that contains a brother's affection for her sister. So for example, Lakche and Skasaha have an Address that stores the amount of Love Points they've built up with each other; however, said number will always be negative -1. NOTE #5: THAT SAID, other women will still get jealous when they see a man with his sister. Said sister is already placed at the very bottom of that man's Jealousy chart; so you can ALWAYS use them as a Jealousy bot! So if you're trying to pair Fee with Arthur, you can put Patty and Tinny next to Arthur before putting Fee next to Patty and Tinny. Do that, and Fee will get an addition +10 Love Points per turn! NOTE #6: The game puts Altenna on a higher place on some men's lists than "Other Girls"...even though Altenna's love values also seem to be set at a permanent -1 for all possible suitors. NOTE #7: The game normally uses address 7E3C75 to track Celice and Tinny's love growth if you've reset the game once since starting Gen 2. HOWEVER, if you HAVEN'T reset it, it will actually use that address for Celice and Julia instead! That's right! The game literally REPURPOSES the address used for Celice and Julia into something else upon reset! However, Julia still generates bonus love points for other women to steal. Aless: Julia > Nanna > Lakche > Fee > Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Altenna Arthur: Leen > Lana > Fee > Patty > Other Girls Celice: N/A Corple: Lana > Patty > Altenna > Other Girls Delmud: Lakche > Fee > Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Altenna > Other Girls Faval: Altenna > Other Girls Johalva: Nanna > Lakche > Fee > Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Altenna > Julia Leaf: N/A Lester: Patty > Altenna > Other Girls Oifaye: Nanna > Lakche > Fee > Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Altenna Sety: Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Other Girls Shanan: Julia > Nanna > Lakche > Fee > Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Altenna Skasaha: Fee > Tinny > Leen > Lana > Patty > Altenna > Other Girls EDIT: Oh yes, and just in case there ARE any errors, or want to manipulate the amount of Love Points characters have, or want to figure out what Jealousy charts the SUB characters have...here you go: LOVE GROWTH ADDRESSES: Aless and Fee - 7E3C69 Aless and Julia - 7E3BFD Aless and Lakche - 7E3C45 Aless and Lana - 7E3CD5 Aless and Leen - 7E3CB1 Aless and Nanna - 7E3C21 Aless and Patty - 7E3CF9 Aless and Tinny - 7E3C8D Arthur and Fee - 7E3C6B Arthur and Julia - 7E3BFF Arthur and Lakche - 7E3C47 Arthur and Lana - 7E3CD7 Arthur and Leen - 7E3CB3 Arthur and Nanna - 7E3C23 Arthur and Patty - 7E3CFB Arthur and Tinny - 7E3C8F Celice and Fee - 7E3C51 Celice and Julia - 7E3BE5 Celice and Lakche - 7E3C2D Celice and Lana - 7E3CBD Celice and Leen - 7E3C99 Celice and Nanna - 7E3C09 Celice and Patty - 7E3CE1 Celice and Tinny - 7E3C75 Corple and Fee - 7E3C5D Corple and Julia - 7E3BF1 Corple and Lakche - 7E3C39 Corple and Lana - 7E3CC9 Corple and Leen - 7E3CA5 Corple and Nanna - 7E3C15 Corple and Patty - 7E3CED Corple and Tinny - 7E3C81 Delmud and Fee - 7E3C61 Delmud and Julia - 7E3BF5 Delmud and Lakche - 7E3C3D Delmud and Lana - 7E3CCD Delmud and Leen - 7E3CA9 Delmud and Nanna - 7E3C19 Delmud and Patty - 7E3CF1 Delmud and Tinny - 7E3C85 Faval and Fee - 7E3C57 Faval and Julia - 7E3BEB Faval and Lakche - 7E3C33 Faval and Lana - 7E3CC3 Faval and Leen - 7E3C9F Faval and Nanna - 7E3C0F Faval and Patty - 7E3CE7 Faval and Tinny - 7E3C7B Johalva and Fee - 7E3C5B Johalva and Julia - 7E3BEF Johalva and Lakche - 7E3C37 Johalva and Lana - 7E3CC7 Johalva and Leen - 7E3CA3 Johalva and Nanna - 7E3C13 Johalva and Patty - 7E3CEB Johalva and Tinny - 7E3C7F Leaf and Fee - 7E3C59 Leaf and Julia - 7E3BED Leaf and Lakche - 7E3C35 Leaf and Lana - 7E3CC5 Leaf and Leen - 7E3CA1 Leaf and Nanna - 7E3C11 Leaf and Patty - 7E3CE9 Leaf and Tinny - 7E3C7D Lester and Fee - 7E3C65 Lester and Julia - 7E3BF9 Lester and Lakche - 7E3C41 Lester and Lana - 7E3CD1 Lester and Leen - 7E3CAD Lester and Nanna - 7E3C1D Lester and Patty - 7E3CF5 Lester and Tinny - 7E3C89 Oifaye and Fee - 7E3C6D Oifaye and Julia - 7E3C01 Oifaye and Lakche - 7E3C49 Oifaye and Lana - 7E3CD9 Oifaye and Leen - 7E3CB5 Oifaye and Nanna - 7E3C25 Oifaye and Patty - 7E3CFD Oifaye and Tinny - 7E3C91 Sety and Fee - 7E3C5F Sety and Julia - 7E3BF3 Sety and Lakche - 7E3C3B Sety and Lana - 7E3CCB Sety and Leen - 7E3CA7 Sety and Nanna - 7E3C17 Sety and Patty - 7E3CEF Sety and Tinny - 7E3C83 Shanan and Fee - 7E3C53 Shanan and Julia - 7E3BE7 Shanan and Lakche - 7E3C2F Shanan and Lana - 7E3CBF Shanan and Leen - 7E3C9B Shanan and Nanna - 7E3C0B Shanan and Patty - 7E3CE3 Shanan and Tinny - 7E3C77 Skasaha and Fee - 7E3C55 Skasaha and Julia - 7E3BE9 Skasaha and Lakche - 7E3C31 Skasaha and Lana - 7E3CC1 Skasaha and Leen - 7E3C9D Skasaha and Nanna - 7E3C0D Skasaha and Patty - 7E3CE5 Skasaha and Tinny - 7E3C79
  15. You could always talk about it with me! I've beaten it multiple times, and have seen several speed runs of it on Nico Nico Douga!
  16. Sure! I've done multiple playthrough a of this game, so I'd love to talk about it with you!
  17. The early game of Chapter 2 may be something of a hassle without Teeta; but the endgame is bonkers in the amount of nonsense that goes on. So I pick Palla for your 8th unit.
  18. Mainly just struggling with 15 units at my 4 year university. Though at least I managed to get good grades!

  19. Thank you Gamer9! Have a nice day, and God Bless you!

  20. Thank you everyone! Always nice to have such considerate people!

  21. No. I am simply...a random dude. But Goku does represent a lot of the kind of person I want to become one day.

  22. Yes, I am catching them all!
