Yay! Hope that you land that job!

    I am hoping SO BAD!!!

I have a lot of anxious energy about it, so I'm trying to funnel that energy into doing fun things in the meantime! My wife spontaneously bought me some Pokemon cards (I've not had Pokemon cards in years!) and now I'm tempted to try and get one of every Pokemon. This was far more feasible when there were only 151, haha!

Thank you ^^ I keep practicing everyday, and I definitely see my progress drawing by drawing !

Here is the sketch I'm the most proud of, though I'm sure I would see some errors if I'm looking more at it. It's been few months I've made it ! 🙂

Oh wow!!! Rinea looks so elegant! Dang, if you keep up the practice there is going to be no limit to what you can draw! I really struggle with drawing humans with realistic proportions - but this is clearly a skill you're mastering!! Thank you for sharing 🙂

Hey, it's been a while, eh? Great to see you back.

I've been alright. Just sticking with college and doing some personal writing on the side. I've also started learning Japanese, so that's been interesting as well.

As far as gaming goes, I just finished Ghost of Tsushima. Honestly, it's one of the best games I've played. A masterpiece from beginning to end.

Hello!! Congratulations on starting to learn Japanese - the journey of learning a new language is always a fascinating one, and I have huge respect for people who are able to do it!

I've heard so many things about Ghost of Tsushima... I recently splurged on a PS5, and so now I can finally catch up on all those PS4 games I've been missing out on (as well as PS5 games, whenever they eventually exist, haha!) Ghost of Tsushima is high on my list, along with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Persona 5. (All of them are such huge games..!)

Hi! It's great to see you back! 😄
I wasn't very active on Serenes, but things are going very well for me!
Nothing changed really for me since last time I've posted, I'm still using my free time on drawing FE characters, and I improved a lot since last year, though I'm still not proud of my drawings xD Anyway, I keep drawing, and I hope to be much better one day I hope! ^^

Hello FireFenrir! I'm happy to see that you're still here, and I'm very pleased to hear about your drawing progress. If you ever feel comfortable sharing, I would love to see! Practice makes perfect, and each day you spend drawing will teach you so many things. Keep it up! 🙂

The combat is absolutely much more fun than I thought it would be! I'm only at chapter 2, but so far, I just love Rush. Plus, the first boss fight was fantastic.

...And Mahjong/Shogi are much more confusing than I thought they'd be...

The only (ONLY!) thing I didn't enjoy about the combat were the enemies with guns. Getting stunlocked by them sometimes was a little frustrating! But otherwise it is such a joy to play, and so creative in its ridiculous finishing moves.

Oh man, the Mahjong/Shogi games are something I never sunk much time into... mostly because I could see how much of a time-sink they could become if I were to try. I did, however, get fully invested in the hostess club sidequest!

It has already been a number of years since I played that game. Maybe I should track down a copy sometime! (It's one of the games that never made the cut when it came to my move across the pacific, haha... Many good games were given up, tragically!)

Startin' with 0, since it's my favorite story-wise. Since I've watched playthroughs of almost all the games, I don't know if I'll play all of them, but I at least would like to try Kiwami 2, Yakuza 5 and Like a Dragon.

It truly has such a great story! I hope you have a great time with it. I'm curious how your experience and appreciation of the game might change between watching playthroughs and playing it yourself. (Certainly the satisfaction of the combat will be far more enjoyable!)

I'm doing alright! I finally get to play a Yakuza game, (I've been in love with the series for a while) so that's nice.

    Nice to see you back!

It is nice to see you too! And it's nice to see Kiryu looking so happy there!

Which Yakuza game have you started with? I've only played Zero so far, but hope to continue with the series. I've heard so many good things about it!

  7. Hello forest dwellers!

I hope life is treating you well. Things are picking up for me recently! I've started studying to be a librarian (which is about the only profession I can imagine being passionate about), and yet... despite being busier, I find myself falling further in love with the games I play! I recently started playing Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen - drawn in by its visual novel gameplay and Fire-Emblem-esque SRPG gameplay. It's a wonderful experience so far! Such an enjoyable world.

    How is everyone doing? 🙂

Well, in my case, I'm quite scared of what is gonna happen soon with the virus, in my area. When I went to the city some days ago, that was terrible. Peoples don't worn masks, and don't even respect the distance. Also, I like going to a place, and planned to go to this one, but as we told me, no one wear a mask here, so I shouldn't go here even if I'm careful with all the recommendations.

But nice to know things goes well for you ^^

Take a walk through forest is a good way to feel much better! There's not too much waterfalls in my area, but the only place where there are some is amazing! I really should go to it soon, cause that's a wonderful place, even if there would be too much peoples on here because it's  very touristic place, so there's no calm on it....

People not wearing masks is the most frustrating part... It is an act of simple human kindness and consideration! Plus - you can get masks with so many designs! I bought myself a mask made from floral Moomin fabric and I love it!!

I hope that you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite places soon, friend.

    Relateable.

My hometown a day before travel was allowed-0 cases, been that way for almost a month.

My hometown two weeks later- an outbreak downtown, 24 cases. Oof.

That sucks to hear 😞 It is obvious that allowing travel and “normal life” will mark a increase in the spread. The need for business apparently overrides that, however 😕

I hope life has been going okay for you otherwise?

  9. Been back at work the past couple of weeks. It’s nice seeing people, but we’re all just pretending things are back to normal. 2000 students are about to return to the university in our small town. Can’t see that going down too well :x

Otherwise, life is well enough! Took my wife to a nearby waterfall this morning. The forested trail to get there was beautiful. It felt so old, with huge rocks and trees engulfed in thick moss. So refreshing!

Hey, no worries. I'm glad work's started back up for you. 👍

I would like to get into writing fiction, but I also don't mind writing about politics. I just love fiction enough that I'd prefer to do that if possible. I only started writing fanfics recently (which aren't that great but hey), and I enjoy it a lot.

Writing fiction would be fantastic! And writing fan fiction is as good a way as any to get into it. You don’t have to worry about creating worlds and characters with fanfiction, and instead can focus on improving writing in fun and interesting scenarios!

(the same logic applies to fan art, which I enjoy creating)

If your interested in getting into any new fantasy series, I put up a list in the entertainment forum.

Fantastic!! I’ll definitely keep this in mind when seeking new books in the future. Thank you, Wraith 🙂

Looking for work as a writer is annoying, especially when you're a college student with entry-level experience (and an international pandemic is going on as well). I would love to make writing my career and improve my writing ability, but sometimes it seems like the working world just isn't meant for those with artistic leanings.

As an illustrator, I can relate to this problem!! I would love for it to be more than a hobby, but it is very difficult to find opportunities.

What kind of work as a writer are you seeking?

BTW everyone, I apologise if my replies are slow. Both my jobs just started back up again, so I’ve gone from 100% free time down to like 25% 😅

I tend to read as my primary source of entertainment and enjoyment.

Nice! I've really gotten back into reading as a hobby this year. Currently reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. I'm only about a quarter through, but so far I would definitely recommend it if the sound of a fantasy heist novel appeals to you!

*The clanking of bottles can be heard as Wraith enters the empty grove, finishing his bottle of whiskey*

This is a nice place, far away from those crazy Brits and non-drunk people. I think I'll just sit down and rest.

*Wraith lies down on the soft grass, removing the many bottles of whiskey from his person and placing them before himself on the ground. He lays down with a freshly opened bottle ready to be consumed. After a few minutes and draining half the bottle, Wraith lies down on the grass and falls asleep*

So what do you do when not drinking whisky, Wraith? 😛

Hey, nice! Well, sort of. School just ended yesterday for us in BC. It's gonna be weird starting high school with online courses, that's for sure!

That will be a strange adjustment!! Might be fun though. School in pyjamas!

Guess that will be quite hard to enjoy return to studies, but maybe you'll enjoiy it at last! 🙂

But, yeah I can understand what you are feeling, I guess it's hard to try to plan a return to student life.

I really hope you'll feel better once you have made and clear your plans.

Thank you! With every day that passes, plans feel a little clearer. It’s difficult to plan efficiently with the world being a little crazy right now, haha!

I hope you had a lovely birthday!

...Hello? Is anyone here? It’s cold and there are wolves about, and Marth is telling me I’m drunk.

Hello again Wraith! You were drunk last time, too 😛 I’m glad Marth is keeping an eye on you at least

  15. I've started trying to plan my return to STUDENT LIFE.

I'm looking into doing a Library Sciences master's degree (since I'm struggling to get a library job without one). The funny thing is, even though I live in the USA now, it's waaaay more affordable for me to just do online classes at a UK university. It's a little tricky figuring out the best options, but I'm feeling pretty good about actually making steps towards what I want to do with my life.

I'm not super excited at the thought of having to do lots of studying and essay writing again... but the less I think about that, the better.

Thank you. It's just been difficult, especially since most people are feeling sad nowadays.

I'll try my best to chat, I'm usually not the best at vocalizing my issues in a more public type of room.

    Thank you! She's the best!

With that in mind, please feel free to PM me if you ever want to!! I understand the potential awkwardness of public rooms like this.

Cipher isn't that really hard to play, once you understand the rules, I started learning through a tutorial that was really helpful, of course I had to watch it for several times, but once I understand the rules, I buyed my first starter deck and learn much more with this one. Then I asked my questions about skills and all on the topic of this forum. And that helped me very much!

That's great!! That sounds very encouraging.

I was just looking at pictures of a lot of the cards. I love the artwork SO much. It's very tempting to go to ebay and see if I can find some for a good price...

Don't worry! I find it very useful information!! It is welcome here 🙂 Thank you

I had a great week end, hope that's the same for you 😄

Especially Saturday, because I watched Fire Emblem Cipher Livestream who released some amazing cards!  And that makes me happy and excited because I can't wait for the set to be released! (And also can't wait to have my booster boxes!).

I also was abble to talk a bit with some Cipher fans recently, throught the internationnal Cipher community on facebook, that's a great thing I'm abble to talk with internationnal players, because nobody is playing/ interested in my area, most french Cipher players are based in the North of France. Some are on the south, but too far of where I live.

Anyway, that doesn't stop my interest and love for this TCG. And I sure hope I could one day encounter a fan close to my area. Or even organize a meeting, for introduce peoples on it. 🙂

I've always been intrigued by Cipher! Is it difficult to play due to the cards being in Japanese? I really love some of the artwork, though.. Even if I didn't play the game, I think I would enjoy collecting the cards purely for the art.

Good luck finding fans nearby - that would be amazing! ☺️

I'm just frustrated and stressed lately. My life is nothing special, and I never know what to do. But I'm always affected by other people for how I feel, it's not necessarily what I want, but more what just happens. So when all of this hatefulness coming from all different people and sides in the world, and even negativity among my friends, it's just stressful. It's suffocating, I really can't take extreme negativity, it just makes me depressed.

The only solace I can take right now is just playing games.
Being around most people just makes me feel anxious, even if I am feeling better recently.
I hate to admit it, but sometimes my girlfriend can't even help much, since things aren't going the best for her either, and it just makes me sadder, sometimes, of course, being around her still makes me feel better than I would if I didn't have her, but, yea.

Life is just annoying and frustrating to go through.

I can relate to what you are feeling, friend! I often find that I am affected by the emotions of those around me, too. If someone is sad in any way, it's very hard for me not to share that emotion. It's tough to balance out, especially when this comes from significant others!!

Video games can be such a lifeline in times like these. It's such a form of pure escapism, and so many games are designed to be joyful. A favourite for me for when I need to escape and just be happy is Super Mario Galaxy. Heck, even just jumping in that game is pure joy 😛

I wish you well! Please consider this a place to come and chat any time, be it about videogames or struggles. There will be someone here to chat with 🙂

(P.S. Not sure who the fox girl in your icon is, but she is cute!)
