  1. I'll be the devil's advocate here, as Clanne was undoubtedly one of my best and most reliable units (hard/classic). I will be talking about personal experience for the most part, as I know my experience with Clanne is obviously very different from other's. On paper, his base 10% magic growth is absolutely terrible for a unit who's presented as a magic unit, and his base 35% strength growth (which is high for this game's standards) makes you question why they decided to put him in a magic class at base. However, with the Mage class' additional magic growth, his magic and strength growth are equal. Putting this aside though, his base in magic and speed are fairly high so his early game is quite strong. On the other hand, his speed is his big selling point, alongside a fairly good growth in dex and a decent but below average growth in defense. He has the highest base speed of early game units until Chloe comes in and his 50% growth (2nd highest in the game) means he'll be sure to maintain his speed lead among others. Citrinne will always have higher magical damage output compared to Clanne, but she will typically be slower than him. Regardless of which, Clanne's strong early game is what carries his performance (for me at least). If you're willing to give Celica to Clanne instead of Celine when she comes in, it definitely bumps up his performance. Promotion choice is easy, as he has natural access to Mage Knight with his boon in Swords and that also allows him to utilize his strength stat with access to swords. Reclassing to Griffin Knight would also be a good choice for him, since his statline is probably much more suited for the class--if his magic does fall behind and his strength somehow manages to grow that much. Clanne's biggest problem is what others have mentioned before, and that it's competition in his archetype. Celine and Citrinne come in fairly early game, but IMO, it kinda boils down to personal preference on these characters as I feel like Clanne can perform just as well as these units. My personal experience with him was overall heavily, heavily positive. He was one of my most reliable units, being able to one-round most enemies (his performance was not too far off from Pandreo's). I don't know what it was, maybe I just got lucky, maybe I showed him favoritism. I have no idea. I used him as I would any other unit, but I would be lying through my teeth if I said he was a bad unit in my playthrough. Overall, I give Clanne a 8/10. This high score is mainly due to my overall positive personal experience with him. I would give him a 9 or 10 out of 10, but I don't wanna anger too much of this community cause I know others would heavily disagree with me LOL.
  2. It's been a while since I played Engage and as much as I enjoyed the game, my head wasn't as deep into it as it was for 3H or Echoes. Regardless, I did enjoy doing the 3H Rate the Units so I def wanna put in my thoughts. (Also, apologizing if this is a late post lol) Analysis Alear, for a lord unit, is surprisingly lackluster compared to past powerhouse lords like Robin and Byleth. Alear starts off with decent stats with notable speed and average strength. In the long run, Alear grows well, with fairly good speed and dex, but tends to be underwhelming compared to some later recruits. Their performance as a combat unit is passable, and can be amazing with a liiittle bit of babying, but Alear can also work well as a support unit due to their Dragon-typing and its Emblem ring bonuses. Their personal weapon is alright, it's not too shabby offensively and speeds up filling your Engage meter which is pretty handy. Wille Glanz also sounds really good on paper, but I never used it so I can't say lmao. Alear's biggest boon is being the only unit with a Dragon-type class for the first 22 chapters (aka 80% of the game lmao), allowing them access some nice Emblem ring bonuses and skills. The main ones being Corrin and Byleth, as Alear receives access to all types of Dragon Veins with Corrin and basically Rally Spectrum with Byleth (however, now with DLC, everyone can give Rally Spectrum via Chrobin). Overall, Alear can be fairly versatile unit, but not in a magical/physical kind of way but more of a combative/supportive type of way. They can excel in either role, but can be outshined by other units. Personal Experience My personal experience with Alear was overall positive. He started off okay at best because his strength was never enough to kill, but I ended up babying him for a few chapters and he ended up improving quite a bit. I originally reclassed him into a sword Griffin, but swords weren't doing it for me, so I switched to lance Griffin and I liked it more imo LOL (just cause I like lances). I found sacrificing the Emblem ring bonuses for a different class was pretty worth it since staves are super helpful. The freeze Griffins combined with the meteor things in that one chapter (I forget which one) were annoying but with Griffin Alear having staff access, I was able to Rewarp into safety which I found to be extremely fun LOL. But anyway, my overall score for Alear is, like many above me, a 7/10. They're not an overpowered lord unit by any means, but they're good and get the job done.
  3. EDIT: Accidentally double posted the same post, sorry.
  4. I definitely agree with Engage's weapon system being my favorite (and I guess by extension Echoes ?). Actually, for the most part, I don't mind durability, but I definitely enjoy it more when durability doesn't exist. It's nice not having to constantly buy new weapons (and in 3H's case, repair and buy or find ore) every other battle. And yeah, I also agree that legendary weapons shouldn't have durability--which I found hurt the most in Awakening's case. It didn't really make sense that Sol, Astra, and Luna had 20 uses and to put salt on the cut, broken weapons in Awakening disappear. Also, Fates had a durability-free weapon system, but I found the weapon debuffs were a little much. Like your STR gets halved for the next battle for using silver weapons, some weapons like the Beaststone+ had stacking debuffs on the user, etc etc etc. Like the lack of durability was great, but it was at the cost of incentive to use. Durability does come and go within the series, so I do believe no-durability will come back but not for every game.
  5. (I totally forgot to update this thread despite updating my mods regularly on Discord and GameBanana) But I released a new version of this mod a while back with custom models for male Pegasus Knights and Falcon Knights ! These 2 models are probably the models I'm most proud of, and they took me quite some time and work to make so I'd really appreciate if you guys could check out the updated mod ! Also, with the inclusion of these new models, I also changed it so that Conrad is now recruited as a level 3 Falcon Knight as opposed to a level 11 Pegasus Knight in the original release of this mod. Here are some screenshots of the new models and textures ! Here's the link to the download: DOWNLOAD
  6. Hey ! I'm back at it again with yet another gender-lock removal mod, this time for Engage ! This was a collab mod with my good friend and talented modder, Heritor (aka head of Project Thabes). It's a simple mod that just removes the sole and completely unnecessary gender-lock on the Sword/Lance/Axe Flier class. There are 2 major bugs in the mod: Male units will use a dummy sprite for Sword/Lance/Axe Flier (currently cannot be fixed until adding new assets is figured out) Male model proportions will look off in Sword/Lance/Axe Flier (can be fixed, but will take a lot of effort) But anyway, I hope you guys can enjoy this mod as well as yet another installation in the series with an unnecessary gender-lock ... again. 7. Best Clanne - I'm pretty surprised to see how so many others have had a bad experience with Clanne so far. He's honestly one of my strongest units and the only mage that doubles consistently. Celine's alright, Citrinne's too slow, and Ivy's good for her join time but rarely doubles compared to Clanne. It's not uncommon for my Clanne to ORKO enemies, and getting Celica early and giving it to him made him grow pretty quickly. Fogado - His bases are really good and has the privilege of being in the fastest royal class (20% growth, 49 cap). He joins a little late, but he's great for his join time and comes with a mount. His res is also surprisingly really good, but his defense and strength can be a little lacking. Diamant - Prob one of the best royals so far. Great bases, great unique class, gets Sol upon promotion, fine af, etc. Disappointing Yunaka - I really REALLY wanted to use her, and several others have talked about their overall positive experience with using her, but she just can't get enough damage done. Daggers are really weak in this game, and I couldn't use her for much other than reaching those 2-5 damage thresholds so others could take the kill. Zelkov comes with better bases, but I wouldn't say even he's that much better than her. Alfred - Tbh, I still use him. He deals big damage but never reaches kill thresholds and can never double. I love him as a character and he's there from the beginning, but his growth was mediocre. Chloe - I usually enjoy early game fliers and use them up until endgame, but I've been struggling with Chloe. Her speed is fine, but her low build holds her back on top of mediocre strength. Promoting to Wyvern Knight helps her out a lot, but I still find there's much to be desired with her. Vander - Honestly, probably one of the worst Jagen's we've had so far. His bases are terrible for his archetype, and his high internal level prevents him from getting any levels at all until mid-late game where he probably sees no use anymore. Ngl, I was at like chapter 10 or 11 or so and he only gained 1 whole level smh Great then fell off Louis LOL. He's a hard carry in the early game when you have Sigurd but --- (Still on Louis) I can't talk about his lack of speed and res because that's expected from an Armor Knight, but his dex is lacking as well so I decided to bench him as the game went on. Surprisingly Good Pandreo - Really surprised at how usable he is. His bases are actually really good for his join time and comes with Warp and Physic at hand. He's honestly a really useful healer and backup magical combat unit.
  8. Kinshi Knight - Bow + Staff I was thinking staff over another weapon type so that it won't overlap with Bow Knight. But anyway, I'd love to see this class come back since we haven't seen a non-exclusive flying bow class since Fates. Barbarossa - Bow + Sword/Lance/Axe, or Bows only This would overlap with Bow Knight, but regardless a flying bow class is still cool LOL Ninja or Assassin or Dread Fighter - Daggers + Swords Thieves have no promotion, so it'd be nice to give them a reclass that's related Dark Mage - Dark Tomes ? Tomes only ? I know there doesn't seem to be any Dark Tomes in the game, but it'd be cool if the class came with new Dark Tomes to go with it lol Dark Flier/Harrier - Tomes + Staff + Sword/Lance/Axe To avoid overlap with both Mage Knight and Hortensia's unique class, Dark Flier would have both staves as well as a physical weapon. Dark Flier has been one of my favorite classes in the series, so I would love to see it come back and be available for all units (WITHOUT THE GENDER LOCK OH MY GOD) War Master - Arts + Axes, or Arts + Sword/Lance/Axe The only physically-oriented Arts classes are Alear's class and Dancer--which are both exclusive. Otherwise, the only other classes to use Arts are healers. So, it'd be nice to have a fully physical class line that utilizes Arts. Valkyrie/Strategist - Tome + Staff This would overlap with Sage, but it'd have the benefit of being a cavalry pure-magic class which is always nice. And no gender-lock oh my god
  9. Man, I'm pretty disappointed about how Pegasus/Flier is literally the only gender-locked class. It even says for Griffon and Wyvern that you need to be a level 10 Flier to promote into it, so what even is the point of locking it if they're gonna make the promotions available anyway--and make it harder to achieve in the first place? Not to mention they didn't even bother giving us a male-equivalent. big sigh Tbh, it was to be expected, IS is prob gonna die on the Pegasus-lock-hill. I guess, to be positive, since it's only the base class that's locked it matters a little less because it's a little more "temporary" since you'll end up in an advanced class by mid-game anyway. And honestly, I don't even mind the absence of Falcon Knight--and it's been my favorite class for every single game. If it means having one less gender-lock, I'm kinda glad it's been replaced.
  10. Official 3H plushies were released sometime last year ! I had to get myself Claude and M!Byleth haha But yeah my response to the main topic: I looooove anime plushies as well and have a whole shelf of them, I even have Claude, M!Byleth, and Marth's official plushies. If I were to want a plushie of any other character, they'd be Subaki, M!Robin, M!Corrin (F!Corrin got one so it'd only be fair ㅠㅠ), and the Ram Villagers. Honestly, a Pegasus or Wyvern plush would be pretty cool too ngl haha
  11. Hey guys ! I finally managed to release my first update on this mod, with the new update including brand new custom models and textures for male Pegasus Knights, Falcon Knights, and Dark Fliers ! (All made by myself, but for the male Falcon Knight model, I had assistance from Tru on Discord [TrustyWusty on Gamebanana] and the one of the base textures of the male Falcon Knight model was Mathcat's texture from v1.0 of this mod) Please use this link below for the new updated mod: Download for v2.0 Also, here are a few screenshots of the new models ! 12. You don't need to grind, it really is more of a matter of having a plan and strategy of luring Slayde away and manipulating his AI, while simultaneously bombarding Desaix with a myriad of 1-damage hits and 3-damage crits. It's really annoying and takes a LOT of time and planning, but it's very doable. What you can do, actually, is clear out the map little by little, then retreat from the map. When you go back to restart the chapter after retreating, the enemies you killed will still be gone and only the enemies you haven't killed will remain. When it's just Slayde and Desaix leftover, you can take your plan of action much easier. The main things to note and what I usually do to defeat Desaix and get the Dracoshield: The enemy AI in SoV will always prioritize self-healing when their HP is low, so they will retreat and try to find their way to a supplies tile rather than go for another hit. If the path to the supplies tile is blocked in any sort of way, then that's when they'll target your units instead, so keep an open path to supplies. Open the gate on the far right side of the map and lure Slayde in that part of the castle Get Slayde's HP low enough so he'll start to escape, but block any opening leading to the supplies tile where Desaix starts off Try to lure Desaix into the chokehold right in front of him, then surround him with your units so he's trapped and cannot move. Always have a healer ready next to anybody standing adjacent to Desaix There are probably several other ways to do it, but this is how I usually do it lol.
  13. I definitely agree with this. If S-supports will exist again, the player should be able to romance anyone they wish. I'm ngl, after seeing the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons remake in the same Direct where you can romance anyone regardless of gender, I kind of have hope for FE S-supports being the same. (emphasizing kind of, since FE has severely let me down several, several times in that department) But regardless of which, if they don't allow for same-sex S-supports, I'd rather they remove them overall. Going back to the leaks--which were surprisingly accurate and real--the screenshot of the support menu showed no sign of S-supports and only went up to A. However, the screenshot wasn't of Alear's support list, so it's possible the support system will be similar to 3H's where only Byleth could S-support and all other characters could only A-support but gain a paired ending based on their highest support. If S-supports don't exist, I'd like something like 3Hopes' system to return. I was pretty happy with 3Hopes' pseudo-S-support with the Merc Whistle because it felt like an S-support, but wasn't exactly an S-support, and you were free to give the whistle to anyone you wanted with the added bonus of obtaining a skill. @ OP, I'd love to share my thoughts on who I would like Alear to S-support or which characters would be Alear's same-sex S-support options, but I'll have to wait until more characters have been released/announced. As of now, I think Alfred would be a great same-sex option for Alear since he's quite attractive imo. Cramme is adorable, and so far, he's my favorite character that's been announced, but he does seem quite young for Alear haha. god the amount of times I said "support" in this one post lmfao
  14. I've actually tried editing a model for Radiant Dawn before, and unfortunately the modding communities for FE9 and 10 are really, really small, so there's little to no documentation on anything related to model editing and repacking yet. Hopefully someone out there can tell me otherwise, but from what I know, getting models back into game format has still yet to be figured out.
  15. Oh wait FRICK, I totally forgot Manakete is gender-locked LMAO. ignore what I said about manakete gerome alsjflaksdj I didn't include Manakete in my own gender-lock removal mod, but there IS a male Manakete mod out there where Gerome can inherit it, but it's completely separate from the Gay Awakening mod--yet still compatible. my bad LOL
