  1. I agree with the sentiment, but it does hold my attention. If only because of the train-wreak factor. I get that feeling. More of this, Silas, more of this! Become the true Master of Arms! ... Has anyone ever got what Kaga thinks of modern FE? Any interviews or quotes to hand? I'd imagine he hates it, but ya never know. 0 Luck. I see. We have another Arthur on our hands.
  2. In order (No NG+): CF Hard/Casual - 50 Hours (Getting a feel for the Game) AM Maddening/Casual - 70 Hours (Getting a feel for Maddening) VW Maddening/Classic - 70 Hours (GD students are a mixed bag of usefulness) SS Maddening/Classic - 60 Hours (Blitzed through Part 1, took some time in Part 2) CS (DLC) Hard/Classic - 5 Hours
  3. Leonardo vs Virion, both are nobles and archers... What if they had a go at each other?
  4. This. Although... Maybe? The Sacred Weapons were made by Macuil (I think), so it's not inconceivable that he made duplicates. It's never said there is just one... Just as it's never said there are many... Open to interpretation?
  5. Also true. But until told otherwise, they might be. There is no definitive answer on this one... Yet.
  6. a person or animal that is descended from a specific ancestor; an offspring. something deriving in appearance, function, or general character from an earlier form. an adherent who follows closely the teachings, methods, practices, etc., of an earlier master, as in art, music, philosophy, etc.; disciple. This actually came up a while ago in this thread. So it's a bit more difficult to explain than just 'Priam is Ike's great-great-how-ever-many-great-grandson'. He might be Ike's descendant, or he may be a dude who is very similar to Ike. Personally, I think Priam is Ike's descendant. But whatever I think, we can't prove that either way. Only IS can.
  7. Inter-dimensional and inter-universal are a bit difficult to separate. Further supporting this is the fact that Priam (a descendent of Ike) somehow got to the world of Awakening. On the other hand, I don't think it's ever said that Laguz = Taguel. Yes, there were other types of Taguel than Rabbit, but this doesn't necessarily mean they are the same as the Laguz. They could be two separate, but similar species. We don't know enough either way, so to argue it one way or another is to devolve to head-cannons.
  8. WTF!? That's... IDK how or what to feel 'bout... those things. Cursed, cursed things shall be born of this. Oh, wait. It already has.
  9. Been a while since there was movement in this thread. We do know there a several different worlds. Most of them are in the same universe... Except for Tellius. It's so very different, in many ways I'll not expand upon here. And it's more or less confirmed that Tellius isn't in the same reality as the others. We know Archenea, Valentia, and Jugdral are on the same planet. It's unknown if any of the other continents are on the same planets with the aforementioned 3, or even each other. For that last bit, we know there are Time-Space portals between the various game's worlds (Dragon's Gate in Elibe and (Unrelated?) Fates, Outrealm Gate in Awakening, etc.), so the other continents aren't necessarily a part of the Archenean world. Of course, we don't know if they are, either. So if I said anything either confirming or denying it, it's just speculation. We just don't know enough.
  10. So I just popped back in here, and though this is off topic, but... Why does everyone like Nichol?
  11. My apologies. It sounded like you were only talking about the bit after the battle where a unit dies and their friend has a unique quote. Like this bit below.
  12. I mostly agree with this. But... I also like this. Just X charges per chapter works for the weaker tomes, but what of the strong ones? Having 2 shots of your best spell is very restrictive. Making up for the OP-ness by, say, nulling your Move until the end of your next turn would balance siege tomes, and I'd say you could buff the uses of Abraxis/Ragnarok/Hades/Whatever because of a drawback like that. May not work all that well, but it can't be any worse than what we have already.
  13. Hmhmhm... Giving everyone quite a bit of power, aren't you? May as well join in. Silas: Samurai -> Master of Arms Skills: Lv1 Dancing Blade, Lv10 Gamble, Lv5 Rend Heaven, Lv10 Duelists Blow, Lv15 Awakening Stats: +1 Skill, +2 Spd, -2 Def, and -1 Res
  14. You forgot the fact that some character's (Forsyth and Gray, maybe some others) mentions that their dead friends. See below for Gray's. So, clearly IS both can and is able to do things like this, but didn't for TH. Would've been pretty cool, but alas.
  15. Going on an off-topic tangent, but yea, FE Protags are fairly same-y. What did you expect? More in depth, 'cause I'm half-loopy from weariness. Marth - (Going off of FE12) Is basically a Gary Stu, but is also in great pain over the suffering on both sides of the war(s). He also doesn't know how to deal with his feelings (FE11's end scene with Caeda). So, not then? Roy - It's been to long since I played FE6 last, so no comment. Eliwood - Is a scrub Does make some mistakes. Lyn - Bland Has trauma from her past that does give her trouble. Eirika - Is naïve to the point of stupidity. Why did she trust Lyon? L'arachel strait up told her not to, yet she did. Ephraim - No excesses, he's a Gary Stu. Ike - He's not particularly intelligent. Not to say he's dumb, but he isn't a genius. Kris - Training, training, Grandpa, training, bad at directions, Marth worship, training, bad at cooking, training. And disliking Sirius, I guess. Chrom - He does develop, if only a little. Robin - Avatar worship incarnate. Also technically an Dragon God of Death and Destruction. Corrin - Ditto above, except swapping the 'God' part for 'My naivete is a super-power! I'm also a Demigod!'
  16. Beautiful. Check. Talented. Check. (Skilled with Magic, unexplained ability to Sacrifice, coincidental special holy heritage) Few or no flaws. Check. (Her blind faith in Pellias is her only real flaw) Loved by everyone. Check. (Dawn Brigade, all of Daien)
  17. (I hid the comment above to save space) I don't watch Anime, so I can't say anything 'bout the examples you provided here. An example I can comment on is Fates and the Yato's Evolution/Self-repairing shenanigans. Birthright - First time is because of the R. Sage buffing it with the Fujin Yumi's power, so that's fine. The second time, not so much. Ryoma had been with the party for quite a long time, yet it only Evolved when Corrin needed a power boost to beat Garon. Why? We aren't provided a reason for this. And then it gets broken by Garon-beast's slap-attack. Why does it get fixed? 'Cause of random powers. And it doesn't get broke again when Garon slaps it. Why? Conquest - First time it's 'cause Leo joins Corrin and co. The question is, why did it wait until after the map to evolve? The second time is the same. Why did it wait until until just before the fight with Garon to evolve? Revelation - First time R. Sage again. Second time - Wooo, look at that! Random powers strikes again! The Royals have been with you for, what, like 9 Chapters? Why did it wait till now? Are all of these perfectly logical and not contrived? No. 2 of the examples above do make since - the R. Sage boosts. In summary, you are correct about all 'power-ups' not being Deus ex Machina. But there still are those that are. Different stories are different. Who'd of thought. You can still compare them and point out what's better between the two. Don't decry it just because they're different. It's like comparing people, cows, trees, or whatever. Each one is different. But there are still traits that can be compared between them. I don't intend to sound hostile, but if that's the case, why do you keep making it an even bigger mountain? If it doesn't matter, then why are we debating this? Is it that people arguing annoys you? I'm trying to understand why you made this thread, not to try and offend you. Are you trying to say we shouldn't argue because it's Fiction?
  18. You misinterpreted what I said. "a little Mary Sue-ish" = She has a few of the qualities of a Mary Sue, but is not one. Indeed. The Ike Shrimpas was talking about sounds like Hero's Fallen Ike, not normal Ike. Ike is a Hero. He likes fighting, yes this is true. He's not about to start fights just for the sake of it.
  19. My favorite FE's on the shopping block, eh? Eh, sure, why not. Micaiah's Ok. A little Mary Sue-ish, but it fits wit her Lore/Character. Part 3 screws her over with the Plot-contract. RIP her in Part 4, but Yune's funny, I guess. Elincia's great. I wish she had more time in the spotlight. Ike's... Well, IDK, he's Ike. He develops as much as a block of wood in Radiant Dawn. And, yes, I think RD would've been better if Ike had only been a supporting character. Skimir's way more interesting. Why can't we have a Laguz Lord? You do you.
  20. You do know Radiant Dawn exists, right? You want unbalance, look no further. RD is pretty tough to begin with, so only using the bad units may be more than a bit grueling, so it's not recommended. But if you want a challenge-mode of a run, then go for it. Assuming you can play RD, of course. Wii emulation is a pain from what I hear.
  21. The best I can think of would be to make them a Merlinus-Leveling Dance-lord that can (Maybe?) promote after reaching Lv20. And the best compromise for the Fighting/No fighting for Dancers debate would be for them to get Combat access after promotion. That's... an Angel, then? Or a Laguz-like protagonist? Any way you cut that, it's a bit out of place in FE, but we are talking about a Hack here, so... Sky's the limit, aye?
  22. It does something like that. You gain ~17 EXP per dance bellow Lv5, and each level after that reduces it by a point or so. I think it bottoms out at about 5 EXP per dance, but don't quote me on that, seeing as it's been a while since I played Fates.
  23. Ah, nostalgia. What a wonderful, wicked thing it can be. Is losing HMs that bad? In some ways yes, in others no. Are 8 HMs excessive? Very much so. Do they provide good ways to prevent exploration past what is allowed at that point? Yes, I'd say. Should they not be forgetable by normal means? Hell no! But this is neither here, nor there, is it? In my humble opinion, HMs should be used for one-off game progressions and optional areas. Waterfall in Hoenn, for example. You only have to use it to get to Evergrande. Past that, it's used for many optional areas around the region (Meteor Falls springs to mind). But the biggest problem I see isn't related to HMs at all. It's that Game Freak is either getting in a hurry to get the games out, or are just plain lazy. I'm not about to argue it either way, as I've little research into the topic and just don't care enough about the series anymore to try and make a good point. Pokemon is a series I have a lot of nostalgia for, but I feel it has lost it's way. Thus (despite this fairly lengthy post), I just don't care enough to debate the topic. This is simply my opinion, and I know most probably disagree with it.
  24. Currently sick and hurting. I've yet to gather the willpower to start back on this. I'll get to it, once I'm feeling better. I see. That seems about right.
