  1. That just sounds even worse. Also blatantly untrue. Also, what's even wrong with letting men have things anyway? People act like men will turn into rape monsters and stop thinking women are people if they see a boob like a red flag to a bull. Doesn't anyone think women want to have cute avatars too? What's even the point of having a male and female option if they look the same?
  2. As a girl I can't help but feel like there's something very uncomfortable about people acting like a female character having obvious breasts as somehow inherently sexual/fanservice-y you know...
  3. Well they've got more talent than the people who've tried to "redesign" them. Could you do better?
  4. I don't think Alear even has amnesia. I think Alear has brain fog from being asleep for so long. Like, who wouldn't? Of course if he does have amnesia it could be connected to why he was asleep for so long in the first place. We don't really know yet. It just occurred to me after I posted that it could be the Doylist reason for him to have amnesia if he really does have it might not be because he's the one who people need to exposit about the world building to, but because he participated in defeating the Fell Dragon the first time around and there might be things the writers don't want him to remember right away about that.
  5. Like, I get that supports can be a pain to make for a game with a big cast, but supports are still kinda important. They might not lend themselves to developing the main characters "organically" but the main characters already have the whole game for that. What supports do help with is characterizing the members of your army who stop being important after the map they're introduced in. That's why they've become such a major part of FE since the GBA era. I feel like it's not really a good idea not to include them.
  6. Ah, yeah. It does look like it might just be part of the armor. But it would be cool if it really was a unicorn. I don't think I've seen that type of armor headpiece on a non-pegasus before.
  7. Anyway, no one seems to have mentioned this and admittedly I just noticed it myself, but Alfred's horse is a unicorn. I wonder if that's significant? We've had pegasi in the series since the beginning, but I think this is the first time there's been unicorns in an FE game.
  8. I still think you guys wouldn't be saying this shit if Alear were a regular Lord character and not an "Avatar." You guys need to shut up and stop judging the game when we don't know anything about it. People thought Three Houses was going to suck too. None of the above stated reasons mean the story will suck. You're just making blind assumptions based on prejudice.
  9. I do, seeing as the fact that they're perceived as an avatar is the primary reason people are reacting so negatively to them. I still don't think people would be so upset about them being a divine dragon otherwise, even though it gives a justified reason for the other characters worshiping them, more so than any of the others have had or maybe because of that. Personally I say no they don't count as a self-insert at this point. At least any more than any other protagonist in an rpg where you can change their name and gender of which there are many and the fans of those games don't get so up their own asses about it.
  10. People need to stop pre-judging them just because "they're an avatar." They're not even an Avatar. The only customization is their gender and possibly name and they actually talk. We've literally only had one trailer. Maybe we should give them a chance. Would anyone being this upset over them being a divine dragon if they weren't "an avatar?" So the main character of a JRPG is a super special chosen one. Whoop-d-doo. That's almost every JRPG protagonist. No one whines about other non-"avatar" lords being worshipped by the rest of the army.
  11. Someone has shit taste. Jokes aside, I feel like I have to agree that most of the recurring archetypes are a given. I don't know why anyone would think Claude and Dimitri would be the Cain/Abel pair though since they're already lords. I wonder whether each of them will get their own Cain and Abel like with Alm and Celica or if there's only going to be one pair? Probably only one pair if they're going the FE7 route like I think/hope. I'm predicting some teacher/student romance tropes involving Byleth and Edelbarn, probably a bit with the other two lords too if he really is an avatar character and can be female, but mostly Edelbarn due to the way she talks to him, especially at the end. There's going to be at least three pegasus knights who may or may not be sisters, but if they are we might be seeing the triangle attack again. Though maybe not, I don't know how that'll work with the new formation system.
  12. She still doesn't really look like the goddess from the mural though.
  13. I think the important woman from the trailer is actually a descendant of Seiros, the prophet who is mentioned in the legend at the beginning of the trailer. Mainly because she has a sword that looks like the one the woman who is probably Seiros is holding in the mural of the Goddess. Either that or she could be Seiros herself if it turns out Seiros is a Manakete. Either way, I really doubt she's the goddess.
  14. I kind of feel like Healers/Stave users wouldn't have troops either. It seems like all the troops wield the same weapon types as the unit they're following and it would be a bit weird/funny to see a whole hoard of healers running around together like that.
  15. My stance on the petting mini-game still sits firmly in the camp of "I thought it was dumb, but it was even more dumb they removed it because censorship is never okay," but let's not get into that again (I wish more and more every day that America wasn't so Protestant though). ... Or, no. I will get into that. Tell it to me straight: Would you be talking like this if they'd removed the same sex S supports for Niles and Rahjat with Corrin? If you say that's different than you lose, because it isn't. There are some people who still think that homosexuality isn't appropriate for children so that could be said to be a thing that could affect the game's rating and range of sales too, if this game had come out a few years earlier. If you're okay with someone removing something from a piece of media because it makes you personally uncomfortable, then you have no right to say that other people can't do the same just because their views on what isn't appropriate don't align with yours. This is why censorship is bad, period.
