It's as though they designed Fiona's statline for GBAFE, and somehow expected her to hold up in a game where enemy stats rise at a much steeper pace.
Which is weird because of Meg having similar bases yet joins 4 chapters earlier. Then there's having other units like Nolan, Jill, and Zihark on the same squad who can stay on par with enemies or be ahead of them with little to no extra investment. When it comes to unit balance, Radiant Dawn is one of the worst in the series.

They have basically the same base stats, but Meg joins 4 maps earlier. And then Fiona can't be used in her second potential map, so it becomes a 5-map gap.
I don't know what they were thinking with Fiona's bases. Even on Normal, she can be one rounded by enemy Myrmidons in the first map you can use her, and switching the Steel Lance she comes with for an Iron Lance doesn't stop her from getting doubled by them.

Both of these units are pretty bad in Radiant Dawn, but who do you think is worse or more difficult to use?

Lysithea being small fits the theme of her body being too weak to support her.
I think that's more to do with her being an overachiever and not because of the issue with her body. Besides, I don't think minor weight gain would hinder her in any noteworthy way.
43 minutes ago, Etrurian emperor said:I think that works better for Manuella since she's a drunk
Maybe? I know alcohol can lead to premature hunger, but I think she's the type of drunk who gets so messed up that she'll pass out before thinking about getting food, then the hangover is too much for her to focus on food afterward either. I base this on how she never seems hungry and her lack of affinity towards specific foods or food in general.
-
Lysithea getting fat or at least chubby. Not all women need to have super model bodies, and her sweet tooth is strong enough for weight gain to make sense.

...Completely ignored.

Fuck you and your female favoritism, IS.
Good man, saying what I'm thinking.
3 hours ago, Othin said:I don't like Ascended Heroes, but I don't think they were really avoidable. A lot of games are starting to really run low on missing "waifu bait" characters, and that's unfortunately a big part of what keeps FEH profitable. So it makes sense that they'd feel the need to have future New Heroes banners go back to drawing on old ones, to make a more future-proof system.
This is also why Ascended Heroes are likely to continue skewing female - it's the whole reason they exist.
It's like someone *points at myself* predicted this would happen months ago when they brought up how IS is running out of female characters to add to Heroes and that they would start using Alts more to keep adding women reliably. Granted, I didn't think it would be because of Ascended Heroes. It's like Mythic Heroes and Harmonic Heroes all over again.

You say that as if there were oh so many other characters would've even qualified as an Ascended Hero from Thracia.
7 minutes ago, Ice Dragon said:I have no idea what assumption you're talking about. I simply stated a fact that there simply aren't that many options for Ascended Heroes from Thracia.
It's how you said "if there were oh so many other characters would've even qualified". The way you phrased it made it sound like I was complaining that Mareeta got picked to be an Ascended Hero when that's not what I was saying, and it came off as belittling.

Continuing the Pokemon Forum user names, we name this Shuppet after @FailWood
I don't recall agreeing to this, but being a Shuppet is fine enough. It and Banette were decent in Gen 3 single player, before the physical/special split happened.

That's not what I was saying. I was indirectly agreeing with Sunwoo's dislike of Galzus getting a lackluster kit because both him and Mareeta are Red, and since she's meant to be the star of the banner, he had to be made worse to accommodate. You can take your assumption about me and shove it.
-
Poor Galzus. A powerful endgame recruit given such a lackluster kit in favor of an uninspired Mareeta because IS leans one way as usual (his connection to her makes it even more unfortunate) At least August getting in is cool.
-
What are your thoughts on him as a character? I've yet to play Thracia or Genealogy, and was curious because I noticed people don't talk about him much.

This is what really ruined the game for me. I like using a lot of different characters. Having to find a new opponent in order to both use and face a different character completely kills momentum for me.
Especially if that new opponent is significantly better or worse then the one you stopped playing against.

Meanwhile, I haven't played Ultimate online since before Byleth was announced. Quick Play being For Glory 1v1 with more preference options should've been a recipe for success, but they somehow screwed it up.
That's what I did too, except it was For Glory Teams that I mainly played back then.
The last time I put a lot of play time in at once with Ultimate was when Terry released, and it lasted until shortly after Byleth came out. I played briefly again each time a new character came out, with more time put in with Pyra/Mythra's release and Sora's release, but after I was done with him, I put the game down until this week.

I know. Like for how Ultimate this Smash is supposed to be. I don't find myself coming back to it as much as Smash 4.... I wish I would, but Idk.... online is bad and even after the final DLC character, I feel like I stopped playing for a while. It gets me sad cuz it deserves better. They need to fix the online amd support it more
I swear I get my Preferred Rules no more then 20% of the time, because constantly getting Battlefield stages or Small Battlefield even though I set Omega stages as my preference is the most frustrating part for me (doesn't help that the game won't follow your My Music settings if it doesn't pick your rules, which is unlike Smash 4 which ALWAYS gave everyone their music). Not being allowed to change your character unless you're in Arena sucks too.

She makes both work, but I like her more with long hair.

Been a mobile user on here, and recently advertisments has made things like checking my notifications or even logging out impossible unless I switch to desktop mode as it would remove the menu box when/if the advertisement is up. Any way to go back to not needing the extra step?

Plot and/or lore relevance can only take you so far when you don't have popularity (this certainly applies to Douglas more so than Elffin).
It also doesn't help that most playthroughs I've seen of Binding Blade online don't take Elffin's path at the Western Isles.
-
Glad to see Gonzalez, Hugh, and Niime. But it's odd that they picked Cath over Elphin or Douglas. I guess being the only playable female GBA thief is more important then being plot important (Elphin) or a general whose comparable allies left him behind (Douglas).

In terms of decisions I still need to make, Majora's Mask 3D, Samus Returns, and some of the SNES Virtual Console games that made it to 3DS.
-
I have recommendations as well.
3DS Recommendations:
Pokemon Yellow and Crystal Via VC
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Star Fox 64 3D
Kid Icarus Uprising
Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the Cursed King
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Wario Land 3 Via VC
There's others that I haven't played, or hope someone else recommends.
Wii U Recommendations:
Donkey Kong 64 Via VC
Wario Land Shake It!! Via VC
Mario Strikers Charged Via VC
Metroid Fusion Via VC
Metroid Zero Mission Via VC
Mario Kart 64 Via VC
Wario Land 4 Via VC
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars Via VC
Paper Mario 64 Via VC
Donkey Kong Country Trilogy Via VC
My Wii U recommendations was mostly Virtual Console stuff, but nearly all of the major Wii U releases either got a sequel or was ported to Switch.

I'd like to know what others think of his character. I know there's a good chunk of people who hate him for simply existing as he claims to be Ike's descendant, but I personally like his character. For how strong he's said to be, he's very chill, surprisingly normal compared to the rest of Awakening's cast, and humble about who he is, never mentioning his relation to Ike outside of his initial meeting with Chrom and Robin.

Honestly, this was the most disappointing reveal of the Direct for me. Would've much preferred either a new mainline game or a remake then this. Not interested at all.
1 hour ago, DefyingFates said:F!Byleth is the "canon" choice it seems. It fits thematically (the other main players - other than TWSITD - in the war are women) and romantically for the three Lords. Also F!Byleth is more popular in the fandom and F!Byleth likely balances the genders of the other main characters out. I'd like for her to talk, but given she was silent to begin with I sadly have my doubts about that. Hopefully she has a fixed name this time though, and others will refer to her by name this time.
I don't think keeping the genders even was the reason why they chose F!Byleth over M!Byleth. Remember, in the first Warriors game they chose F!Corrin over M!Corrin for the story even though that made the gender ratio for the Fates royals 4 males and 6 females. Plus that game's playable roster had a good amount of favoritism towards women to begin with, not to mention the DLC was 3 men and 6 women, skewing it further in favor of women.

It's funny how everyone has given up at this point trying to argue against how units like Valentines Lucina and Valentines Female Robin can be considered Armored despite their appearances not matching the class, especially Lucina.
Meg or Fiona?
in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

That is a discussion for a different topic.
I checked her averages, and if she had those first 8 level ups (level 17 averages with what we got), she'd have 3 or 4 more points in all stats besides Magic. Those bases would feel a lot more reasonable for her join time, so I find that theory believable.
