For starters, Miriel is quite glassy. A 3 def base and a 25% growth rate in it as a mage isn't very promising, not to mention having 18 base HP. However, her speed base and magic and speed growths are quite decent, and since she starts at lvl 1, she can turn out to be a powerful offensive force with relatively early doubling. Promoting her can give her staff utility with her decently high magic stat, though it will be limited to rescue staves for the most part and she will spend less time chucking magic at enemies. Reclassing into dark mage allows her to use nosferatu to make up for her lack of durability. Miriel can also help to chip enemies for other units to kill early on even if you don't plan on using her, so that's something else going for her 6/10, her lack of durability is the one thing holding her back

Focus, Tantivy, and Relief are nigh useless, at least for me, since I stick my units together like glue. Focus really stands out though, since 10 crit isn't really worth it and you can get 10 more crit anyway by sticking a bunch of supporting units together with more bonuses. I suppose the same logic also applies to tantivy Luck +4 is also silly because Olivia shouldn't be in danger of getting attacked at all Slow Burn is also a meh skill for me since I like to clear chapters relatively quickly, so I never really get the full effect of it

Welp, now I need to get used to Ky's new ponytail, since he was the only character I was decent at in Guilty Gear. I'll never call myself good at the game when I see what people who know what they are doing can do.

DLC/Spotpass character you would have seen
Batter the Beast replied to Tamanoir's topic in Fire Emblem: Awakening
FE1/3: Lorenz FE4: Edain, Hannibal, Manfroy (seriously, why wasn't the most influential villain of this game represented at all) FE5: Brighton, Selphina, Glade, Pahn, Veld FE6: Dieck, Miredy, Gale, Murderdock FE7: Pent, Louise, Brendan, Athos FE8: Joshua, Caellach, Valter, Riev FE9: Greil, Haar, Tanith FE10: Tauroneo, Lekain I really think that more villains should have been represented in this game -

Characters you really came to appreciate
Batter the Beast replied to ZemZem's topic in Fire Emblem: Awakening
At first, I wrote off Priam as a generic "wants to be the best warrior in the world" guy. Those perceptions were shattered when I read his hilarious supports with the Male Avatar. The fact that he is apparently silent but rambles on when he finds a topic to actually talk about reminds me of myself, so that helps. Reading several of Gregor's supports makes me heavily regret not using him in any of my playthroughs- 30 replies

What do you think on grinding?
Batter the Beast replied to Junkhead's topic in Fire Emblem: Awakening
I generally don't care about not grinding on my first run. I'll do each DLC once when I can and fight some risen here or there. Once I know more about the game, my next runs are generally "no grind runs" on higher difficulties and I'll just grind on my previous file for a bit when Lunatic proves to be a bit much for me to handle When it comes to how others play it, play it however you want, but if you get into a character based argument, I'll assume that we both assume that no grinding/minimal grinding will be taken into account -
Wait what, was Wendy really considered good? What kind of crazy merits did we come up with back then? Another example of an underrated unit back in the day would be Dagdar, that dude breaks FE5's early/mid chapters so hard, and the staffers can take care of what he doesn't EDIT: Oh right, we actually have a translated name for that guy now

Did someone say Megaman X music?

Thresh's lantern makes jungle ganking several times more effective. I'd even say that the lantern is the main reason why Thresh is so damn strong right now. It's plain ridiculous how long the range on that thing is
